I stayed here too nights after missing my flight back home and needing a quick affordable place to stay. I see people bashing this place as if they expected a luxury stay for 50 dollars a night lol. You get exactly what you pay for, the view was breath taking, staff was very helpful, the beach restaurant/ bar made great tacos, strong drinks and thw cook was hilarious. I would recommend this place for anyone strapped for cash and needing a quick cheap place to lay low. If you are looking for a luxury stay then expect to pay luxury prices.

BEWARE! Our room was broken into. Be mindful when staying here and lock all of your stuff up or carry it with you. Generally this would have been a better review except for the break in and the lack of response or acknowledgement from the hotel staff and the security personnel seemed to just delay and probably were hoping we would "forget about it." We lost all of our cash (around $600 USD worth) and our stay here was disappointing because of the break in on our second of 6 nights there. It made it hard to trust anyone and we felt trapped there and having to sleep at night with one eye open was no fun either. Otherwise this trip would have been fine. The buffet food was good and the beach of course was awesome.

I'm am a very honest person and am very optimistic when it comes to service,I would not recommend this establishment to anyone,They had no drinking water we had to go to a store and purchase our own,no coffee ,no TV, and the service was absolutely terrible, one of the windows was busted on our back sliding balcony door. One washing cloth with no soap. But the bill was out outrageous, please use another establishment.... This is what we truly experienced!

BEWARE of mold and sewer issues! We rented Villa #5, the 5 bedroom villa for New Years week and we feel completely scammed from the Airbnb rental. We were charged an exorbitant daily rate of $1,800 per night! To check in a smell raw sewer! I complained as soon as I checked in and the maintained staff the next day to seal the plywood as there was stuffed towels to block that area off. This area was not photographed. I opened a window to see what was in there, you can see sewer pipes covered with plastic. It was awful!! Several us experience asthma attacks as we smelled mold. As we were about to check out, we moved the dresser and found so MOLD!! They obviously have painted around the dresser!! Horrible! We killed a few cockroaches which is gross but the mold and sewer is awful! When I complained, airbnb was non responsive. Find another replace to rent!!!

The Condo we stayed in was just great!...It was a home away from home. The master bedroom had an amazing view, each floor had a balcony. 3 restrooms for a family of 5 was helpful. They have a laundry room that was so handy, usually we go home with dirty clothes but we got to wash before leaving! (As a mom, that's a total plus. Their kitchen is prepped with just about everything and anything you may need. Pots and pans, spices to cook, coffee maker, blender, water heater thingy. Clean water from the water jugs. The only thing i recommend is that you buy groceries for your stay. The hotel offers food,it is a buffet, like $15/20 per person and half price for kids under 12. The food is good but even tho it is a buffet, there are not many options,it is a small buffet. But it is open all day,so if you don't wanna cook, there a place nearby. Also there is a bar by the beach which was within super close walking range for us,we walked the beach to the bar and back. It was calm, nothing loud. The Condo also had beach toys for my kids. Towels for the beach and even extra sand chair for the kids . We left all day Friday and came back to a clean and fixed house, the housemaid had asked if we would like her to come by and she did our beds and new towels. They even have a safe for all the personal belongings,i liked that because i didn't want to be walking around with our passports. The place was beautiful, clean and just comfortable,i plan on returning soon.

Location is south of the busiest parts of the hotel zone so we had the beach mostly to ourselves. The hot spots and downtown are a 25-30 minute bus ride if you wanna go that route. The beach is just a short walk down from the condo. We rented our room through AirBnb so I can't speak for the service. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly. The pool was fine, nothing spectacular and the pool bar wasn't operating during our stay. There is a little bar by the beach which had reasonably priced cocktails. Our main complaint was the noise level. The AC is a wall unit so it rattles and shakes and makes a good bit of noise. Plus there was a lot of noise in the building. It sounded like people are moving furniture in their rooms at all times of the night. Drunk people coming home and making a bunch of racket through the halls. People sitting outside and being loud late into the night and security not doing a thing about it. Overall we enjoyed our stay but wish we could've gotten more sleep and rest

Nice resort, friendly helpful staff. On the south end of the hotel zone. Easy access to and from the airport. More calm and quiet than on the north end. Great prices

BE CAREFUL - the staff there is veryyyyy sh*tyyyyy... the front desk guy told me there's a $20 check-in fee after I already paid for everything - and lucky for him they only accept CASH... riiight? Literally saw him put it right in his pocket. All of our towels were dirty and stained! The buffet sucks and is very run down. Our balcony had 2 broken plastic chairs for us to somehow sit on to enjoy the view. The AC unit was leaking from the ceiling all over our table and floor. The "all inclusive bar" always opened like over an hour late.

Not a preference 1. The key was not handed over, or the process to take the key was not informed before our arrival. 2. We get a hated welcome by reception, and after many conversations, we waited for around 30 min to get our key. 3. Fridge was out 4. Stove was out 5. Microwave was out 6. There is not a functional kitchen for us in this condo. 7. Only 4 towels for 4 persons for 3 days, which is poor room serving. 8. No guidance was provided to use beach/ canteen/ pool/ Landry, etc. 9. Wifi pwd was provided only after a long asking. 10. The bathroom was too small, and water spread out of the bath area, so the condo will get easy wet.

Solymar has very affordable prices such as $44 dollars a night. So I really can’t complain. Like they say “you get what you paid for”. The first Bellman/concierge we had was so kind and respectful very helpful! Unfortunately that was the only positive thing about our stay. We stayed three nights and were only allowed 1 towel for the whole 3 nights. They refused to give us more towels and we could not take them on the tours. The Front desk was okay not the best customer service. The bathroom walls were pretty dirty and gross. Also the beds were extremely dirty, hairs all over the sheets and to top it off you are only given 1 sheet to cover yourself with. I definitely would not come back even if the nights are extremely affordable. The buffet is also not the best.

I once lived in an apartment that had 22 rats removed in the span of one month and I would rather relive that experience 5x than stay one more night in the Solymar. Upon arrival we were showed to our room and the AC was broken. This had flooded the entire lounge section of our room with an inch of standing water. The staff threw down 4 towels and said they would fix it the next day. The next day the "fix" caused water to stop running from the AC and run from the mirror in the bathroom instead. They came to "fix" it again the next day and it broke even more and leaked profusely. At this point after three days of begging they showed us to a different room which contained only one bed. The room had a broken only semi functioning lock that led to the patio which would not have been an issue except the hotel has no real security to speak of and random people came to sit on our deck twice. The other issue with the deck is the fact that the hotel seemed to be under unending construction during my entire stay and the crew dropped nails water and plaster down onto the deck constantly. Outside of issues with the room the staff is RUDE. They charge different prices at the buffet, the laundry staff told me to come back three days in a row when in reality they just did not care to do my laundry. On top of all this it took us three days of asking for them to bring us blankets, they refused to give us more than one towel for the entire stay (we ended up buying our own), and they refused to clean our room. Overall TERRIBLE experience. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND LITERALLY GO ANYWHERE ELSE.

I called the hotel to see if I can check in earlier they said check is at 3pm. Therefore, they had us go to the buffet until our room was ready. The Buffet doesn't have that great of a food plus there was flies around the food .By the way when you check in they charge a fee for removal of the seaweed. Even though there is so much seaweed in the beach you can't even get in!. The hotel looks like its falling into pieces. There's mold on the walls. You can hear the water from other rooms through the wall. The beds are uncomfortable, you will wake up with back pain. There's a lot of noise due to construction they are doing. Overall do yourself a favor and stay in another hotel if you want to enjoy a relaxing vacation.

Worst hotel and Airbnb system, already changed by room 2 times and now it’s 3rd time…. No towels, no hot water, no beddings, no comforter, no hot water in taps, no hot water shower, pillows are also the worst quality you can find. Just spend extra $50 and get a hotel instead.

We stayed in the Villas that Jose Luis owns (Villas 13,12,11,10 on Airbnb). Jose is an amazing host. Villa 13 offers a pool and hot tub built in on the patio. The grounds were amazing. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The water and waves were a bit rough and the lifeguards didnt really let people in past the waist. It could be just the winds and the season time. The seaside bar and grill helped make the trip a blast. Ask for Ricardo (aka Rico Suave), he’s the best.

We stayed in the apartment part of the hotel. The amenities were basic to some areas of improvement but the view was absolutely breathtaking! The place has access to a private secluded beach which is great.

Nice hotel/resort. I stayed at an AirBnB here, the room has everything I needed and my only concern is there were some bedbugs. Not enough for me to freak out, I just killed them with a tissue whenever I see them, and haven't seen any today, but saw quite a few the other day, I'm not worried about sleeping since my bed doesn't seem to have many crawling in it, probably a few during the night - but at an averagely priced place like this, it's going to have some stuff like that. I enjoy the area, the pool and beach is nice, and you can swim in the ocean. Close enough to convenience stores that you can walk, buses also right nearby.

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any stay. They compare thousands of hotel sites and normally will have prices much cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This resort is the best rated in this area. I've been staying here for a very long time. If you choose this place you won't regret it. The location was great we stayed here for Airbnb. The front staff was Friendly... Not great customer experience with person in charge of the Airbnb though... In hotels you stay in you don't have to pay for extra towels, trash bag, or toliet paper this was something that do with Airbnb at Solymar

Very bad hotel it needs to be renovated urgently, we payed for one night and we had to leave the hotel at once it was dirty even at the lobby , mosquitoes , the room was smelling like cigarettes, the bathroom was nasty the walls needs reconstruction, the doors at each room looks old , not even if the drop the price for this hotel $20 per night I'll never go again, Please if you want a good vacation don't even think about going to this hotel there's better places next to this area save your money and the stress of having a bad vacation in this place.

They have to give better customer service, they are full of excuses to provide it. It's s nice small place comfortable, however, needs customer attention to have this place for better in general.

This location was quiet and comfortable. They were remodeling the pool area while we were there. There is a gift/snack shop, ATM for dollars and pesos, and a restaurant on site. I also had a fridge and kitchen in the room. Beautiful view of the lagoon from our room and beach access in the back of the building. There are lots of swinging chairs near the ocean to relax and enjoy the beauty. Staff on the grounds were very pleasant and helpful. Taxis are always out front. The owner and the local contact person were very responsive to our questions. Overall, it was a great experience and a welcome break from the bustle of the resort.

Great place to stay in Cancun. Location is away from the busy areas, but only minutes away by car for dining and shopping.

Bang for your buck, but we did have a cockroach in our bathroom on our second day. 4 days to go still, hopefully without any other uninvited guests

Hotel is just ok. On the older side. Finding your room is a nightmare. Right on beach but beach is terrible. All seaweed. My room was an Airbnb and was excellent. Hotel is VERY far from the action. This is a family hotel. No music at pool either.

Outstanding view of the beach, rooms are okay, family friendly, and it has a pool that is kid-friendly. The only thing is the restaurant’s food and the food choices are not that good.

Stayed here a few weeks ago and would never go back to be honest. Our room had mold on the walls, shower did not drain water properly, toilet was dirty, shower had broken tile, mirrors were very dirty, no towels we had to call the front desk and just received 2 (that were not the cleanest), our door would not close properly unless we locked from the inside. Rooms are very basic. Booked through Agoda.

Stay somewhere else. If you want a similar price hotel go to Hotel Dos Playas. The snack bar here is always closed. The rooms are clean but noisy, the hotel is not clean. There’s cockroaches on the hallways and the ceilings are caving in with water leaks. The only restaurant is closed 3 hours a day and good luck finding something to eat. The drinks are good but that’s it.

Good: beach access, chill area, great location. Main areas were okay. Bad: bad food and lack of customer service. If you ask for something, they won’t help you unless you ask 2/3 times. They didn’t provide room service to our room (we were staying in the hotel part), towels were never changed, you have to ask for new towels in the front desk. The shower in our room was broken, I asked to have our room changed and said they couldn’t do that. Then they offered to send a technician that never showed up. I asked to get the shower fixed for three days in a row and nothing.
