This place is in serious need of new management. The staff is great but afraid to make small accommodations (moving two tables together to fit a party of 8) to please guests. The hotel brands itself as a family resort, but there are so many dangerous places for kids… Broken tiles, ledges with no barriers, ramps with steep inclines, jagged pieces of wood along the pool. We asked for a crib at noon when we arrived at the hotel and followed up at 3,6 and 9pm. We didn’t have one delivered until 10pm pretty unacceptable when you have an infant. When they did finally bring the crib, they left 2 in our room. Poor communication for staff . Be prepared to wake up at 5am to claim a pool chair. People will take over chairs and not use them all day. It’s pretty frustrating when you have nowhere to go . Trash isn’t kept up with. Our room had leftover trash from the previous guests when we checked in. There were piles of trash around the pool at 8am today from the previous day. We showed up at the restaurant when it opened tonight and we’re told to come back in 3 hrs. The restaurant was empty and they saw we had two kids under 1. We have five more nights and are seriously disappointed that we spent money on this hotel. The staff is trying their best but are overwhelmed by the number of people. This hotel needs a serious management overhaul and renovations to justify the price of this “resort.”

We had a swim up room and were Diamond Club. Luis our Butler was amazing! He took care of everything and answered our questions promptly. The service was excellent at all the restaurants and poolside. They even came over to our swim up pool and served drinks. Honestly, I never wanted to leave. The only thing that keeps this from being an overall 5 star review was the smell from the seaweed. While it doesn't ruin the experience you really can't use the beach or go in the water. If the resort would allocate some resources like the other resorts do to cleaning it up, the experience would be perfect. Thank you to all the staff for making our vacation truly wonderful!

Royalton as they rate is definitely a 5 star resort, it was ease from check in to check out absolutely no issues. Staff was amazing they take care of you everywhere from Pool area to restaurants. Even food was amazing we had some food restrictions but the Chef from each and every place took good care of us in terms of our requirements. They did understand our needs and made lots of dishes as we needed. The place was always clean and safe. Never a dull moment even if you prefer not to go out of the resort there was always some thing to do within the resort. Night shows were fun, well managed and entertaining. I would definitely recommend to go there and would think to revisit.

Went with a group of 14 family members and we had a great time at this hotel. I do agree it does need a few upgrades throughout but the rooms were always clean and the activities throughout the days were great. I wish there were more rooms with AC because the buffet was always super hot as well as the restaurants. Also, please be aware there are A LOT of mosquitos!!! But besides that we enjoyed our 1 week stay and would come back again. The employees were great and very attentive to our needs. I also highly recommend getting diamond club, worth it for the extra perks you get. Thanks for a great time with our family Royalton!

I came to this resort for a wedding last summer. We stayed at the hideaway section of the resort. The first problem we had was the air conditioning was not working properly. We had maintenance come and take a look and he was trying to gaslight us saying that it worked perfectly fine. We had just come from a different resort and had no issues with feeling comfortable as far as air conditioning was concerned. The food was absolutely terrible.. I don’t have high expectations of all-inclusive food, but this was awful. We tried several different restaurants, they couldn’t even get a pizza right. There was also long lines and waits for most restaurants. The facilities were fairly nice and the service was pretty good other than our maintenance experience. I recommend checking out other resorts. I was very disappointed in Marriott for affiliating with this property.

We were a family of 11 adults & children, This was a great resort for families. Plenty of pools & entertainment. Because my husband has a bad knee we got upgraded to a room with a rooftop whirlpool that was closer to the pools & restaurants. Our room was very nice. The food was good ,not outstanding & it was difficult trying to make a reservation at the restaurants. Sometimes we were told we needed a reservation but then they couldn't make one! Very confusing but we never had to wait long for a table. The staff was always courteous and polite and very helpful. Some people complained this resort was not like it was 5 years ago when they were there but what is after covid? I think they are doing a good job & would go back.

I stayed for four days by myself to get away for some alone time, and I had a wonderful stay. The staff was very nice and went out of the way to make me comfortable. The resort is beautiful and clean. Lunch and dinner was average, however, the breakfast buffet was very good with lots of healthy options. It is far away from the hotel zone and the mall. A taxi to the hotel zone, mall or airport is $50.00 round trip. So keep in mind if you want to get out and do some shopping nothing is close by, you will have to rent a car or pay $100.00 round trip for a taxi. If you select this hotel, I encourage you to tip the staff because do work hard.

This is an overall 2 for me. Adult side is not worth getting because it's link in with the family side and majority of entertainment is on the family side. This entire resort can do better job managing their room cleanliness, and environment with mosquitoes. I switch to two different rooms, and both were completely the same. Filled with mosquitoes and barely cleaned. "Bring your off spray" I also happen to experience sun and rain when I went, and was able to see that the drainage system isnt good and that the roofs around the resort needs weather proofing. The Staff gets a 2 because majority of the staff wasn't friendly and welcoming, and the hand full of staff that were good deserves to be tipped and giving a raised. The location gets a 5star because it's only 20-25 minute from resort. Overall this is an beautiful resort, just needs better management.

Room was amazing. Excellent customer service All the food was amazing. We aren’t fans of buffets, but couldn’t stay out of the one at the resort. The beach party!!! Dancing, drinks and Mexican candies along with live music (until the rain came and ruined our fun) The cocktail hour and special dinner for Marriott members was nice gesture but the food at the dinner was not it. Watermelon with goat cheese was good, I’m not an arugula fan so I didn’t touch the salad. Bass was too fishy. Everyone we talked to all left to the buffet afterward. I think someone over-thought the menu. The restaurant in the adult only section (Hideaway)was really good and the view is amazing. All of the musicians were excellent!! Staff was amazing and very attentive. Room service was lacking a little bit. The food wasn’t too good. Maybe it’s for late night drunks? Beach was nice, we came at a good time because the seaweed was not bad.

We upgraded to the diamond club upon arrival, and Rafael was very accommodating and helpful, even to the point of showing us a picture of our view from our room (as most resorts will claim a room has an “ocean view” but only shows a sliver of the view). All in all, we had a terrific experience, and would recommend the resort to our family and friends. Everything from butler service to excursions was very smooth. Pool service, including the towel service, was GREAT!! They were so friendly and woman running the area was SO ready to help us find seats. The only reason I don’t rate it 5 stars is that the food is relatively average. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either.

Good rooms however there was insects in the room. Bad customer service for the general food places. You have to ask for the spoon every time you want to have soup. Only two employees will say Hi or Good Morning for 4 nights stay. Beach area was very dirty. Bad smell all around. Good programs at night. good music and other shows by the pool side.

We just got back from a week at the Royalton Riviera and we loved this resort for our family. My daughter is 4 and she loves the kids pools. My older children loved the other pools and the ocean. The food is fantastic and the service is amazing. The staff at the resort are very hard working and friendly. We tipped very well and got even better service. They genuinely appreciate anything you contribute in exchange for their service: The massage on the beach with Andres was lovely. The rooms aren’t amazing but they are clean and honestly we don’t spend much time in the room anyways. The entertainment was fantastic. We would definitely recommend this resort and we will absolutely go back

Great resort! Staff are very friendly and accommodating. The restaurants are fantastic for dinner. (Buffet place is average) Very clean - great night entertainment. Our presidential swim up suite room was very large, clean, walk in closet, double shower and the swim up is heated! The beach was also very nice - there is seaweed but nothing major. Overall. Great resort. Keep up the great work! If you are worried about covid - we did not hear of any cases and have tested negative after 5 days. Israel in the buffet restaurant is the main man! His service was 10/10 always! Thank you!

The beach could use some cleaning, and the front Desk could've hade better service, but overall, pretty decent resort with a lot of pools and a whole kid's area and kids' clubhouse. Most rooms were clean, and the fourth floor had its own roof with a patio and a tub, also a great view of the beach and the resort. There's a lot of great restaurants with great food. Unfortunately, the door lock on our room wasn't working with the bracelet they gave us, we got locked out and had to go to the front desk to see what was wrong, they said the lock ran out of batteries, they send some employees to add batteries, then the door worked. Out of that it was a pretty nice hotel, will come back!

An absolutely amazing resort with many great pools and amazing over the top hospitality. The restaurants are ok but not amazing, buffet is great no matter what time of the day. Beaches are filled with beautiful soft white sand. The only thing holding me back from giving five stars is the fact that I was told multiple times that they were out of certain food and beverages, and the lack of luxury at the à la cart restaurants. When you put your supposed nicest restaurants open aired right next to the kids pool it doesn’t feel as amazing as it should. But I would definitely recommend and would return

We have thoroughly enjoyed almost every minute of our honeymoon spent here, in the Diamond Club. The staff here deserve a mention for making us feel special and valued. Damaris and her poolside team in Diamond Club made us very welcome every day and nothing was too much for them. Our Butlers Kevin, Isacc and Vera were also fantastic. It didn’t stop there; on our first wedding anniversary we had a beautifully decorated cabana at the pool and in the evening the room had a bottle of fizz and rose petals from the door to the spa bath which was filled ready for use. The 5 Star service from all the staff here will be remembered long after we go home. We have dined in every restaurant and all are of high quality. The buffet has exceeded expectation in both choice and quality of food. Our one and only less than outstanding comment would be that the main corridor floors were not as clean as I would expect.

If i could put 0 stars i would, hotel is run down food is average in most of the restaurants and i would avoid the sports bar. When we first arrived out room was dirty and not made up. When we asked for another room we were offered a normal pool side room for free or a hot tub balcony room for $500 but wasn't ready until the next day. We agreed to reserve the room but reception agreed we could cancel the next morning if we wanted to just stay in the normal room. We decided to stay and ask for money back to be told we couldn't and we had paid for an upgrade which was not true. So all in all, i would advise not to stay here, run down, rude staff and far better choices

April 2023. Long, but completely transparent review. I typically do not post reviews, but I wanted people know about the experience here if they decide to book this hotel. These are all of the facts that are not on the website or in reviews that I could find. Clean. I did think the place was clean and maintained, however, it is a bit tired looking. Pools. They have lots of pools, but you will not be able to get a chair or cabana at one unless you go down before 6:30am to put down a towel to save one. Since there is so much seaweed on the beach and the water is not at all blue or clear, you can get chairs on the beach. Overall, the place is very kid friendly with lots of activities. My son played beach soccer for hours every day, but you have to purchase your own $18 ball in the gift shop or bring your own. Pool Service. The most disappointing factor for us was there is no pool service that we could find for drinks and we even tried giving the servers we did see, big tips and they didn't come back. For any food at the pool or beach, you stand in line in the hot sun or go to a restaurant/ buffet. Also, there are NOT a lot of places at the pool to sit and eat at if you were not up early enough to get a a spot. Also, BRING YOUR OWN insulated cup because they serve all drinks in old, plastic juice cups except for cans of beer. Night dining. They do not take reservation except for hibachi for the common folk. However, if you are a Diamond Club member they will. In order to eat before 9pm you must be at the hostess stand will you full party at exactly 6am. Otherwise you are told to come back at 7:45 or 8pm. I did see some people throw fits and they were let in. I will say that the service once you were seated in the restaurant was excellent. Buffet. For us the food was not great and extremely overcrowded. Also, it is all inside and very dated. Honestly, I was depressed eating in there and tried to avoid it. Room Service. Didn't try it, but wish we had for breakfast to avoid the buffet. Beach. Water was not great and so much seaweed. They cleared the seaweed once or twice a day, but you just didn't want to get in the water. I know they can't help this, but for this reason alone being there for the beach this location is not for me.

Comfortable hotel with nice rooms, great pool and good food at the buffet. Some restaurants were a little bit disappointing. In general nice service and friendly staff especially around the pool. The cocktails were great. Our big disappointment was the diamond service so don’t book the diamond club this service is lousy and doesn’t add anything to your stay. Butler is not providing any service, pool area is jot big enough to have a bed for everybody, turn down service is not provided every evening and breakfast facilities are accessible for all guests. Complaining doesn’t solve anything still waiting to get an answer of the management. So it seems that they do not take their guests very serious despite the numerous questionnaires you get . Big room For improvement here. If i did not have booked the diamond service the hotel got 4 stars.

First time in Mexico! Although the resort was nice, it didn't really "wow" me. For a family with kids, it's definitely great. They have water slides and a whole kids section. Their nightly entertainment was disappointing. They played classic rock during their live music shows 😐 we needed something more upbeat and fun... Their food wasn't bad. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast and lunch mostly. The steak house, Italian, and hibachi always had long wait times. So, plan accordingly. The beach was relaxing. You didn't need to rush early in the morning to get a good spot/chair. Everyone was mostly at the pool. There were no waves either, so you can actually go in the water 🙃

Stayed for a week in early June, service was great all week. Everyone was friendly and bar service was very prompt. The foam party and other activities were a ton of fun. The massive lobby on the second floor is a great spot to hangout. The food and service was what is to be expected from Royalton. the sports bar closes pretty early, other royaltons I've stayed at have the sports bar open 24/7 so you can get fresh food late at night, I wish this was the case here. The rooms were clean and beds very comfy. We had to search a bit for pool towels. The resort is definitely starting to show its age. some of the less popular areas the cement is chipping away and you can't walk on without shoes. Other areas could use some paint. Same with the rooms, they were clean but some things just need a refresh. They're building a new Royalton next door that's opening soon so I'm assuming/hoping after it opens that attention will be moved to some renovations at this resort. Overall, great experience and don't let the comments about it needing to be updated scare you away, it is still Royalton standard and is much nicer than other resorts in similar price ranges.

The resort is all-inclusive, with a variety of restaurants & a buffet, a cute little cafe with delicious ice cream & a food truck by the pool. The personnel one sweeter nicest than the other. For breakfast, Humberto made our morning @the buffet sitting outside (inside is muggy & slippery & opaque lighting). At night @Martini Luis & Edwin were great. Loved the nightly shows and live bands. The rooms need some TLC but overall it was very good.

Fantastic Hotel, with fantastic service and pretty decent food (some days better than others) the a la carte restaurants (included with all inclusive) are all excellent with the exception of the Caribbean restaurant where the service and food was poor (no idea why, maybe just a bad day when we went)! For lunch, if you're not going to the main buffet restaurant and just want the poolside snacks, go early as some items tend to run out. Pools were great, clean and tidy and well looked after like the rest of the resort. Honestly though we couldn't really ask for more. Do be aware that you won't be walking anywhere from the hotel, it is fairly isolated, don't let that put you off though. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed our stay. 8/10 for us.

My stay here was Amazing!!!! I’m a event planner -my company Precious Memories Events hosted 50 beautiful women. The service, and hospitality was world class!! I stayed on the Diamond Club side. My butler Francisco hands down was the BEST, even on his day off he was available to assist and answer questions. Royalton you guys need 50 replica’s of him…. He’s Amazing!! I rated 4 stars because the air went out 2 nights of my stay😩 however there the director Adolfo and he staff made the necessary adjustments and accommodated my group. My company will patronize this resort again!

Stayed here Jan 21-28. 2022 and seriously can't wait to go back. What an amazing stay. Diamond Club is definitely where it was at. Highly recommend it. This resort is absolutely beautiful and the service was also AMAZING. The highlight of this trip however was our Butler. Humberto. I would not stay at this resort again without having this gentleman take care of us. Ask for him by name if you're staying in the Diamond Club, you won't regret it. Second was the most energetic person we've ever met, our server on the beach and her name was Damaris. These 2 individuals should be commended on their service level as they made our stay one we will never forget. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. As for the resort itself, Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful. Great food, Service, Pools, Beach........ What more can you ask for?

Would be a 5 if there weren't issues at check-in and check-out. Our room type was incorrect, and the new room that they prepared for us the next day was also incorrect. It was fixed, but we lost 3 hours to the move and corrections. At check out for some reason the credit card machine was the only one on the entire premises that wouldn't accept our card, and they wouldn't bill the card on file for some reason. We had to go to an ATM which charges not only a fee for the transaction, but also a percentage of the money you take out. Was not handled very well by ustomer service and soured the end of our honeymoon. Other than that, I must say the service was amazing! Nacho and Chris were fantastic and extremely helpful and just awesome people. The food was quick and very good, would recommend the Hunter Steak house and the Armadillo TexMex. The room was clean and the room service as well as cleaning was on point. We were not expecting so many children in the diamond club, if we ever go back we would definitely choose the hideaway. Pools were nice, weather was beautiful. Long lines for the buffet at times but they moved quickly.

I went by myself and it was a really nice resort. They offer a lot of things to do. About 8 different fitness classes a day. The entertainment at night was good and it definitely had that luxury feel! I stayed in their basic room but still had an awesome view and enjoyed the free room service. The tv had a lot of good English movie channels. I wouldn’t suggest this area of Mexico for its beach with the seaweed problems that this part of Mexico is having. But the view of the palm trees and ocean from the infinity pool was just as good

The resort, surrounding views and atmosphere were stunning. The cleaning staff, waiters, pool staff, bartenders and food service crew were all incredible. We had 2 butlers as Diamond guests and could not believe how attentive and responsive and helpful they were. They scheduled dinners for us every day and kept us informed of options for activities, pool events, etc. Alex and Fernando were our Day and Evening Butlers and they were absolutely wonderful. We would definitely recommend a visit here and our minds were blown at how all-inclusive this all-inclusive resort was. It was isolated, but close to the airport. Quiet and relaxing during the day and fun and loud in the evenings. I cannot say enough good things about the time we had.

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a stay. This site will compare countless hotel sites and usually will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! You're welcome :)! This resort is one of the highest rated in this area. I have been staying here for a long time. If you choose this place you for sure won't be disappointed. Lovely rooms, Big resort with plenty of bars and restaurants. The burgers they do at the side of the hideaway bar everyday are as good as any I’ve tried! Shoutout to DAMARIS the towel lady she looked after the sun beds and towels perfectly, people go down and reserve beds and then don’t turn up but she made sure we had a sun bed to lad on. Also the hideaway bar staff are great too. Would highly recommend this resort.
