We went there for our first wedding anniversary. Service and food was OK. They didn’t have a drink menu. They knew it was our first wedding anniversary because I told them when I made the reservation. Seating was behind a concrete column so we had an obstructed view of the water. The ambience is fun for a group but not for a romantic dinner of two. Our server got obviously upset at the bus boy which is not professional in my opinion. The margaritas were very good on the first round but second round wasn’t consistent. The oysters were served with soy sauce, lemon, cilantro, and onions which was genius! The marrow was also good. The Cesar salad had full romaine leaves, so just bear in mind that you’re chopping your own salad but the croutons were good. Their portions are just right. Food had nice presentation. They have an attractive food menu. I was going to order the Kobe steak but after seeing the service, I didn’t trust that 18 pesos per gram would be well spent at this place. So I went with the safer option of seared tuna. It was Ok and I’m glad I didn’t order the steak.

The food was terrible. The only good thing was the bread and the baked potato. We each ordered medium rare ribeyes, and they were cold when we received them. The restaurant was very nice, but it did not live up to our expectations. Also, there was a cat perched under our table that we didn’t notice until halfway through our dinner. Very expensive for such poor quality of food.

The food was just ok. The service was really bad. Only one waiter knows English. The minute we set down a large mineral water was served without asking, and at the check we saw that it is expensive. We waited 45 minutes for the food and 15 just to get the bill. We ordered one steak that was good and we were asked to choose a side dish that only at the check we learned that it isn’t part of the dish. We also ordered a risotto with beef filet, the risotto was nice but the filet was bad. The waiter was really rude and the service was really slow.

First, let me start off by saying that this is a pricey restaurant and If you’re looking for a deal, this is not it. Beautiful atmosphere, food is delicious. Portions are very large. Highly recommend this for a nice dinner out.

I went here for my birthday and had such an awesome experience. I think for a restaurant as nice as this to have the quality of food and service they do is rare. I ordered food, and told them I was celebrating my birthday and they accommodated me. I ordered the beef tenderloin and asparagus. I will say the asparagus wasn't a fave. The bread however was probably some of the best i have ever had. The Sweet Sea drink was very sweet but also good. Our waiters and waitress were both very hospitable. They changed the music for us and didn't rush us away as they were closing. I am very thankful for you all for making my birthday even more memorable.

I would rate Montemar Steakhouse & Seafood 3.5 stars. While the location is fantastic, being near the water, I found the overall experience a bit disappointing. The prices were quite high and didn't feel justified by the quality of food and service. The cocktails were average, and it was disappointing that there wasn't a dedicated cocktail menu. Despite the drawbacks, the restaurant's great location is a definite plus.

Although this is an extremely excellent location the food quality is not what I expected. This restaurant is located inside Porto Cancun Mall we were party of four and ordered 4 items baked potatoes, Caesar salad, stake, chicken rotisserie, empanadas. The only thing that we really enjoyed was the salad it was extremely fresh, the steak was ordered as well don when it came the top and bottom was burned and dry and when it was cut it was raw, I had to send it back to be cooked however if you are a steak eater you know when you send the steak back to be recooked it is not the same, the chicken was dry no flavor to it, empanadas were dry and had no flavor to it, baked potato tasted like sweet potato’s . Over all I will not visit this location again for the price I pad for the food. Ricardo and Emilio were top notch, excellent servers. The meal we had was probably in the top 5 meals we have ever had. Authentic Kobe A5+ wagyu.

Just ate at the bar and had excellent service and great food. I prefer to practice my Spanish and did my best and the bartender spoke back to me in Spanish. She was wonderful. I had the provolone appetizer and it was tasty, but did sit a couple minutes too long before serving. The house bread and chimichurri was also good. I was a wuss for the spicier sauces. The bartender (I wish I got her name) explained them each to me, since all four are different flavors. I also had the salmon cooked medium and it was 💯 My G&T made with Gin Mare was also perfect. Can't wait to go back. The bar is the place to sit!

This place! Very friendly caring staff which makes the place so special, followed by super tasty food and some great margeritas. Recommendations really match, they are actually listening. Special place! Try Ceviche, Tuna Tosdadas and Margeritas

Randomly decided to stop by for dinner while walking in the mall and I’m glad that I did. The ambience and interior of the restaurant was just as lovely as the food. Loved the complimentary bread and dipping sauces. Had the shrimp and Waygu tacos for starters (you could tell they were made with quality ingredients) and then the ribeye with mash potatoes for the main. Steak was well made and the potatoe skin was a nice touch on the mash. Drinks were tasty as well.

The service is over the top at this restaurant and the waiters try so hard but it feels very mechanical and scripted and not natural and authentic. We ordered a few main course dishes sides after starters, and the portions were massive and we felt we ordered too many dishes and could not finish all food. The waiter did not provide any suggestions or comments on the number of dishes ordered and at the level of service they are trying to provide, it would make more sense for them to suggest/comment on these points to ensure customers don’t over order. The food is pretty average, some lacked flavours or seasoning. Selection of wines by glass (we tried three to taste) all tasted stale and oxidated which is a shame given it is a steak restaurant and people are more likely to go for red wines. Steak came blue when ordered rare but the quality of meat was acceptable. There appears to be more staff than the customers and having three receptionists sitting by the entrance talking and relaxing doesn’t give a great impression of the restaurant.

A must if visiting Cancun. High quality and reliable kitchen. The flavor and preparation of the dishes was as it should. It was perfect. Large quantity yet flavor. I had seen some reviews saying that the steaks weren't that good however, it was not our experience. I came with the family and we ordered ribeye curated for 40 days and seafood... Both were very tasty, well prepared, perfect temperature, and simply a great dining experience. The place is nicely decorated offering an elegant but welcoming environment.The staff is very attentive and even offered a sample of their Iberic ham. The menu is well rounded and offer multiple options for all the family. I recommend the tuétanos, steaks and octopus.

I am in love with this restaurant! It's such a beautiful ambiance at night, it's a definite date night spot, I started my review at the table, that's how much I adore the place! Gabby was such a sweetheart and took care of our every need at the table, very attentive to us. I had the salmon entree and my fiance had the a beef tenderloin steak entree. Every bite was just as tasty as the 1st bite, the steak cut like butter! We paired our left overs with eggs the next day. We'll be back in the near future to try another dish from this spot. Try them out, you will not he disappointed!!

Let me first start out by saying I am not the biggest fan of Mexican cuisine. So with that on the record, I did not like anything I had but it may just be my preferences. What I will say is that this place is aesthetically pleasing but overpriced in my opinion. Has both indoor and outdoor seating. Both are gorgeous options.

The food was just ok, definitely not great. There are a lot better options in Cancun for steaks, they were overcooked & not very tender, the baked potato was dry, very small portion of clam chowder. Even though we were in the air-conditioned section it was still too warm.

One of the worst steakhouses we have ever visited. Manager or whoever is wearing the suit took our order and told us the burger would come out medium well or well done, but it came out rare. Did not ask how we would like our steak cooked, we had to prompt him. The whole time they tried to upsell us on things like wine, after being put off the worst burger I have ever had in my life, I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip.

Good seafood, okay steak. The real recommendations are the pork cheek tacos and the grilled shrimp. The most exemplary part was the service. However the music was a tad too loud if you sit in the inner part of the deck.

The view overlooking the lagoon is nice. The restaurant has good outdoor seating area. The QR scanned menu is not the real price so be warned and be expected to pay more than 10% of the menu price! The food was decent. I had many grilled octopus from different restaurants in Spain and other places and they know how to cook and tenderize the octopus. But this place, the chef did not do justice to the octopus. The grilled octopus wasn’t properly cleaned and the chewy part of the membrane was grilled together. The tentacles were not soft enough and you really have to ‘work’ it with your teeth. Kind of disappointed actually. Puerto Madero in the hotel zone is much better.

Amazing food, service, and wine with a beautiful view! We had the red snapper, guacamole, green salad, and Montemar cabernet - all exceptional! Thank you to Linn and Luna for the excellent service!

Dinner at Montemar was absolutely delicious! Ivan, our waiter, was very attentive and made excellent menu suggestions for our table. The view and ambiance were the perfect setting after a busy day. We will definitely be dining here again.

Wonderful ambience. The different dishes eaten by members of the group were superbly cooked. The prices were very reasonable. The staff, and thus the service, excellent! Special mention of Gabriella and Ricardo. All staff very attentive to all our needs. Definitely highly recommend. We are making an exception by visiting the same establishment twice on the same holiday! It was that good!!
