A beautiful monument in tribute to a beautiful people. During my recent visit to Denpasar, I had the privilege to visit the Bajra Sandhi Monument, an iconic landmark that stands as a silent witness to the rich history and cultural tapestry of Indonesia. As I approached the monument, I was struck by its grandeur and architectural brilliance. The monument, with its towering structure and intricate Balinese design, serves as a proud reminder of Bali's struggle for independence. Its imposing edifice commands respect and reflects the resilience and spirit of the Balinese people. The monument is nestled amidst a lush and well-maintained garden, offering a serene and peaceful environment to ponder upon the historical narratives that it embodies. Inside, the museum offers an enlightening journey through various phases of Balinese history, depicted through a series of dioramas that are both detailed and captivating. The galleries are well-curated, providing a seamless blend of education and visual appeal. Visitors also have the opportunity to ascend to the top of the monument, where they are greeted with a panoramic view of Denpasar. This vantage point offers a picturesque glimpse of the city's evolving skyline, set against the backdrop of the majestic Mount Agung. It is a sight that captures the harmonious blend of the old and the new, a testimony to Bali's continuous growth and development. But what truly sets Bajra Sandhi Monument apart is its role as a space of reflection, where one can pause and appreciate the sacrifices made by those who fought for Bali's freedom. It is a place that evokes a deep sense of pride and reverence, making it a must-visit for anyone keen on understanding the spirit of Bali. I would highly recommend a visit to the Bajra Sandhi Monument for both locals and tourists alike. It not only offers a glimpse into Bali's rich history but also serves as a source of inspiration, a beacon of resilience, unity, and hope. A true gem in the heart of Denpasar! Took me about 20 minutes to walk round the in square a stunning place

The monument, which is dedicated to the Balinese people's struggle for independence, is a stunning piece of architecture and a powerful symbol of the island's history and culture. One of the most striking features of the Bajra Sandhi Monument is its design. The monument is shaped like a traditional Balinese bajra, or bell, and is made of a combination of black stone and white marble. The intricate carvings and sculptures that adorn the exterior of the monument are truly breathtaking, and the large statue of a bull at the base of the monument is particularly impressive. Inside the monument, there are several exhibitions and museums that provide visitors with an in-depth look at the history of Bali and the struggles of the Balinese people. Bajra Sandhi is a monument built in 1987 to commemorate the struggles of the Balinese people over the years. It is Bali's largest public park for both locals and tourists to enjoy freely without charge, It is situated in Renon, the island's "main district" long long ago, you can see old architecture and more antiquity the more northern you go in Denpasar. If you're wanting to see Bali's communal beauty and history, visiting this park is a must. It is incredibly ambient and peaceful, you can visit at all times of the day even at noon, since the trees greatly help with providing shade amidst the heat, it is a large park in a not so densely-housed area, there's also a nearby smaller park only 2.5 km (1.4 miles) away. It is less dense and larger then you might thought. It's over 1.5 km (1 Mile) for one walk around the park's perimeter. Today, many still exercise around the park and many children here play soccer and basketball, not the mention it's incredibly safe thanks to the hospitality of the locals, and also considering the fact that this area is near major government & police offices and buildings. there's many restaurants and shops nearby, as well as many crossings in the road. If your still in the park you can find people offering snacks and even cold drinks at local prices.

The monument is absolutely huge and amazing! We loved it! You can walk around in the beautiful garden and inside the monument, and there's even an indoor water fountain with a spiral staircase in the middle where you can go up and see the history exhibition about Bali. Wonderful architecture with tragic history. Highly recommend to see!

Locals seem slightly unimpressed by this and I had been told by multiple people that it isn’t worth the visit from Canggu. We had a lovely time! The monument is quite impressive and set in the grounds of a large park which was totally empty on a Saturday at around 1pm. When we drove past later on it was so busy with locals though! The monument is home to a huge diorama telling the history of Bali which we found really interesting and a viewing platform.

Constructed 1981-2003. Dedicated to the struggles of the Balinese people. There are 17 steps leading to the main gate, 8 pillars inside and the monument is 45 meters tall, which represents Indonesia's Independence Day on 08/17/1945. You should be able to take awesome pictures from all sides: I suggest a camera over a phone.

Entry price for foreigner is $50K while local is $25K rph. This is a museum showing struggles of Balinese thru history from 7 BC to 1945. They have English description for every display so visitors can read at our own space.

I’m so glad I visited this monument dedicated to the past struggles of the Balinese. It’s a very beautiful monument with lovely grounds & a magnificent view from the top. The inside houses a museum with diorama of past wars and the resilience of the Balinese. All in all a very enjoyable experience with very few people.

The monument has incredibly beautiful architecture. And not only that, internally there is an illustrative museum about the history of struggle, resistance to colonization and independence of Indonesia. It's worth being seen and known. Contradictions in current discourses receive context in this museum.

Located in the heart of Denpasar, the garden surrounding the moniment is huge. The monument itself consist of 2 main area , diorama area which depicts Bali's history and viewing area in the top from which you can view most of Denpasar city. Staff is friendly and informative, and the collection is well maintained. Would visit again someday

The Bajra Sandhi monument is a great place to visit if you want to learn about the Balinese people's fight for independence. The complex boasts an extensive collection of replicas, historical archives, and photographs, making it an excellent resource for those interested in Bali's rich history. The atmosphere inside the monument is serene and calm. Additionally, the building's exterior features a lot of Balinese architectural elements, giving it a unique and authentic feel. Bajra Sandhi Monument located in the heart of Denpasar, which makes it easily accessible to visitors. It is around a 40-minute drive from the airport, and there is wide parking space and wide roads to make it easy to navigate. The monument has complete facilities like a library and clean toilets, making it a convenient and comfortable place to visit. However, it is not very accessible for people with disabilities as there are many stairs to climb to reach the main exhibition area. You can find plenty of convenience stores and sellers near the monument, providing ample opportunities for souvenir shopping and snacking. There are plenty of things to do in and around the monument, from learning about Bali's history to enjoying the beautiful surroundings with family and friends. The monument is open every day from morning until 6 pm, and entrance fees range from 15,000 to 50,000 rupiahs, with discounts available for students.

Very interesting place: temple-museum or a museum in the shape of the Balinese shrine. Worth a visit to run thru the short history of Bail guided by patriotic professionals. Don’t forget to climb several stairs to enjoy the beautiful 360’ panorama of Denpasar. Surrounding park is a place of national holidays celebrations.

A very nice monument, the museum inside tells you about the history of Bali and the Balinese fight for independence. The architecture inside and outside looks amazing. There is a spiral staircase that leads you to the top with a view of the surroundings. Around the monument, there is a huge field for jogging, playing, hanging out, and many street vendors. Needs a little bit of upkeep for the diorama, but definitely recommend.

It's a really cool spot to visit, the park around the monument is very nice to walk around and the interactive museum is a fun activity to enjoy with the family. I would recommend showing up before sunset as the monument does close and you are no longer allowed inside if you show up late. However, the monument does light up after sunset so I recommend staying later to see it.

Very nice monument, sorrounded by park. It is free of charge to spend time in park and out of the monument. Nice to take picture here. If you want to learn about the monument is, you have to pay IDR 25rb / person and you can enter the monument. Unfortunately, when i visited this place, i were not going inside due to limited time. About the park, a lot of people use this place for family bounding and jogging track. No smoking and or vape in this place. For all the visitors, please keep this place clean.

If you visit just 1 place of interest in Denpasar, this has to be it! What I liked most about it was the architecture and the tranquility of the place (which you will need if you’re spending a few days in the busy streets of Denpasar). Upon entering you get the feeling you’re entering a temple but don’t worry it’s a monument, no sarongs needed. The monument is basically split into 3: 1) the outside grounds where you can admire the architecture of the place, 2) the diorama area—a series of dioramas which although look outdated give you a very brief history of Bali, and 3) the viewing area at the top. Just outside the monument near the ticketing counter there is also the 3D museum, but I did not go there. When buying the tickets make sure you let the security know which tickets you want, as I overheard people who wanted tickets for the 3D museum, but the security assumed they’re there for the monument. I was here for about an hour and a half and during that time I only saw 5 other tourists... and 3 couples taking wedding photos—which says a lot about how beautiful this place is.

Nice monument but nothing special. It was built in the 80’s and inside is information about the history of the country and offices. Outside areas are nice for photos but it is not a real temple.

Bajra Sandhi left me speechless. The little structure is magnificent. There was almost nobody when I visited, in the middle of the afternoon. I paid the entrance 50k. You can roam around and take as many pictures as needed. There is a little museum inside about the colonized past of Indonesia, with a few pictures and some dioramas which are pretty impressive. There is also some art in the main place. It's a relaxing place for culture lovers. You also have a nice view up there through the windows.

The Bajra Sandhi Monument in Renon Square, Puputan, South Denpasar is a monument that can also be called a museum, containing photos and dioramas commemorating the struggle of the Balinese people against the invaders, as well as the history of Balinese life since the hunting era of 3000 BC. This monument is surrounded by several fields, and the separation between the fields is usually used for walking, jogging in the morning or evening, apart from walking along the beach.

The location is easy to find. Follow the direction from Google Maps. They have a wide parking space as a lot of tourists on tour or students on a study tour visit here. Entry ticket is IDR 25,000 for locals (usually they charhe higher for foreign visitors). You can find a museum inside the temple-style monument. It is built to commemorate the struggles of the Balinese during the colonial era. It is designed into three levels. On the first and second level you can find pictures and dioramas. On the third level, up the spiral staircase, you can find an empty observatory-like room that oversees the city. Air conditioning available, but it is still quite hot. Toilets available. A lot of people jog here in the morning and evening. Some have picnic at the garden surrounding the location.

Beautiful historical monument, located neatly on the center of Renon area, it is fun educational and also great sight from above. There's a 3D museum on the side with different entrance fee ticket, unfortunately they are doing AC maintenance on the day of my visit.

Very good place for exercise, jogging, yoga. Instead of the museum, they have also football field, basket court, volley ball court, badminton court. It's also nice place to play or outdoor activity with your kids.

A monumen at Denpasar. There is 3D museum below the monumen. You can also see the surrounding scenery from above if you go up to the top of the monument, but when i go there in that location is closed for reparation, so i just entering 3D museum.

Bajra Sandhi Monument is a worth place to go... 🏃🏃the architecture very beautiful, in every corner (exterior and interior) the details of traditional architecture very glorious and unique. Besides of the architecture there is more you can get here. You can get to know the history of Balinese people befor and after the century in diorama at 2nd floor...i get so excited watching dioramas hehehe.... 😁😊 This place very recommended to do prewed shoot 💏

This a very interesting place to visit in Denpasar. It's ashamed that the government don't endorse this monument for people to visit. They have dioramas and information on the heroic people of Bali during the Dutch's colony and also the early days before the colonisation of the Dutch's and Japan. Interesting place to visit 👍🏻👍🏻

👍👍 🏖️ I recently visited Mertasari Beach with my furry friend and had a fantastic time! Not only is the beach absolutely beautiful, with crystal clear waters and soft sand, but it's also pet-friendly, which was a huge plus for me. My dog had a blast running around on the beach and playing in the waves....
