Breathtakingly beautiful. Do not get deceived by the entrance which is very modest to what is being offered inside. It's a treasure cove of art enthusiastic travellers as well as a natural paradise. Completely worth the ticket. Take a look at the photos and videos to understand better what the place offers. Plan to be there at 4PM, that's the best time. If you are visiting on Monday, you can also view the Kechak dance.

Cost 100,000 rupiah which is a bit expensive but it also includes a drink in the cafe. This site is split over 3 main buildings and a large garden. Some of the artwork is impressive, others are to some people's taste. If you go at a reasonable pace, expect to be here for about an hour or so. For me the art was hit or miss, but for those who like taking pictures of gardens and statues covered in moss, this is a great location. If I was to give a comment, it would be this site will be of interest to some and not others. People who like art and gardens should enjoy here

Outstanding collection of Balinese artworks and such a calm oasis from the crazy streets outside. I selfishly wished the environment in the galleries is more conducive for longer periods of appreciation and pondering as it was absolutely cooking inside. Do not miss further exploration onwards to the rice terraces, water gardens and river beyond the gallery compound - just follow the direction signposts. Visit late afternoon when the temperatures are more humane and the light is softer and lower. A delightful “hidden gem”!

Nice art and a decent place to kill some time. Not a must see in Ubud unless you really love art. Ticket prices can be a bit steep but it does come with a free coffee/tea at the cafe.

An outstanding serene atmosphere with high quality choice of art, decor and a blend of modern and traditional food. It offers a full day trip to the entire campus, with lots of activities like learning wood craft, Painting, hat weaving, sketching etc. It's a go to destination for ART 😍LOVER'S and people who love a vibe of culture and presented at its best. Every evening you get to view the traditional dance forms, we saw Kechak Performance and Barong Dance in a strech of two days and enjoyed barbeque🍢🍖🔥 dinner at their Amazing Restaurant. The restaurant is another gem and all the staffs are super helpful and friendly.

Great museum to visit. They charge you around $10 to get into the museum and you will see a lot of paintings in classic museum. One of the best museum to visit in Ubud

BEAUTIFUL! Husband and I went at 9am and were the only ones in the entire place. 150k entry fee is very reasonable for the amount of beautiful artwork to view inside the museum and the surrounding grounds area. Definitely worth checking out if you are an art guru like myself.

It's a beautiful space. The gardens are lovely. The collection of artwork is very impressive. Both modern and traditional pieces. I would highly recommend it to art lovers. And they have yummy food in the Cafe and they have residences and a spa so you can stay on the property. It's truly a beautiful place.

Easily the best museum I’ve seen in Indonesia! Must visit for museum / art lovers. Wide collection of Indonesian arts from different eras. Very well displayed with information about them. You can also see some paintings in progress by the resident artists. Not only that, the whole museum area is so beautiful with gardens and ponds. It reminds me of Lousiana MoMA in Denmark. Had a lengthy conversation with someone there (might be the owner?) that shows the amount of thoughts that go into it & his passion in art. At the end there’s a resto where you can try some local dishes (forgot the name).

The architecture and the gardens of this museum are legendary and show what many newer building try to achieve, but fail. The artwork is meager, very local and not in a good shape. The exhibition is dark an chlaustrophobic. Over all it is a nice place to get the Balinese feeling for life.

The museum in itself is beautiful: the choice of art is really great to see the evolution of the iconography in Bali. The café is amazing and the food is also very delicious. The whole garden is an experience in itself. Don’t miss this art foundation!!!

It was okay. The site (and map provided on guide) appears bigger than it actually is because the entire back half is accomodation/restaurant that you don’t go to. It’s mostly 2 big buildings with art inside. I would recommend coming at a day/time when there is a performance happening on the main stage, otherwise you get through everything within half an hour and leave underwhelmed

If you do ONE thing in Ubud, GO TO THIS MUSEUM! The art is beautiful, varied, local and international. I felt so inspired by all of it. Kind staff make sure you don’t miss any details, for example showing me the stone carvings in the walls outside of the museum, which I may have walked past. They also run incredible classes. I recommend the offering making class, where I learned to make the offerings that you see all over Bali. I learned about Hindu principles such as good karma, prayer and the importance of colour. Go with an open mind and you will learn lots from kind people! You can book the classes over email and WhatsApp up to 1 day in advance. They are from about 350k - 650k, depending on your class, and include silver making, painting classes, batik making, Balinese dance and much more.

An extraordinary place and a must see in Ubud. The museum is set among a beautiful garden (even for Balinese standards, where it’s easy to find dozens of amazing gardens ) which itself is worth a visit. The art collection is vast and offers a unique glimpse into Balinese and Balinese influenced art. And most of all, you can talk to Mr. Agung Rai in person as he really enjoys exchanging his thoughts with visitors. So don’t even hesitate to visit this museum for a second! It’s highly recommend!

We visited this art museum during rainy weather which was perfect for walking through the gardens. The art inside was very good as well, with many old traditional pieces and some modern art too. In particular the golden rice fields was spectacular. Entry was 150k per person which included an introductory booklet and a choice of tea or coffee, which was very nice.

The museum, which is one of the famous tours of Ubud, has a large collection of famous painters, both local and foreign. Some of the paintings here are displayed permanently or temporarily, which means that one day they will be moved to another place. The Arma Museum is recommended for those of you who want to travel while studying in Bali. The land, which was intentionally left uneven, was transformed into a beautiful garden, a place to place museum works, and so on. This soil can turn into a suitable place for anything if it is properly cared for. For those of you who are looking for peace and don't want to be disturbed, in some museum dioramas there are special places where it is forbidden to make noise. With it you can judge the artwork to your heart's content with focus. In addition, the museum building has two main buildings, namely Bale Dajah and Bale Dauh which have an area of 3,300 and 1,200 square meters, respectively. Both are built adjacent to a pond and fountain, as well as a beautiful terraced rice field.

The garden of peace. Right in the heart of Ubud, we were pleasantly surprised at how tranquil this place was. It's a large compound, and the artworks are spectacular. They cover a range of styles and elements of the history of Bali, including some western influence. 100k entry fee each, which includes a free tea or coffee. They have a cafe with food if needed. You can pick up some hand carved items too, courtesy of Suaka, who has incredible craftsmanship. Come spend some time in peace.

Came here on a Monday afternoon to see their traditional and modern collection. I was one of probably 10 people in the premises so it felt a bit scary for me to go around the big space of the museum but the art itself is finely curated. Talked to some of their resident artists who offer private classes if you want to schedule with them. Then enjoyed an iced tea and rice cake and explored the area some more. Worth the fee and the place is really well planned and beautiful

There are many galleries and museum in Ubud, so it is fun. I went to four museums, of which Agung Lai Museum was the best. You can see both traditional and modern art. In particular, the spacious garden made it fun to take a walk, and you can meet an artist who is absorbed in painting. And the ticket includes a Welcome drink, so you can have a cup of tea after watching. If I recommend only one museum in Ubud, I recommend this place.

Wonderful art in tranquil surroundings! Perfect place to escape the hustle of Ubud. We particularly enjoyed the building with more recent Balinese art. Staff were friendly and interesting to talk to.

The museum has an extensive collection of modern Bali artists together with some International artists. It has also a section dedicated to the German painter Walter Spies with some reproductions of his most famous paintings and one very special original . The museum itself is connected to a Hotel and restaurant and you can have tea and local sweet treats included in the admission ticket.

Beautiful gallery in a beautiful setting, lovely way to spend a couple of tranquil hours away from the busy road! The art covers a wide variety of subjects and styles, so something for everyone! As others note, it didn't look like there was any proper storage of the art not on display - paintings were just stacked against a wall, under the stairs! Hopefully they will invest in some proper storage, as it would be a shame for the paintings to get damaged/degraded, especially given the heat! Didn't try any of the cafes, so can't comment on them, but they look looked nice enough! Overall, would thoroughly recommend a visit here, and am much more likely to go back here than, say, the monkey forest!

Very well curated collection of representative art from Balinese traditional and also the foreign artists that came to Bali. Definitely worth to visit whilst in Bali. The founder Agung Rai is always about and likes to meet his guests; so be sure to find him.

We visited here in 2019 and are looking forward to another visit now that we are back in Bali. A wonderful mix of historical, traditional and modern art. The grounds provide a lovely tranquil setting. Both the cafe and restaurant have a relaxing atmosphere and the food was delightful.

Cool place to learn about local & global art. Met the owner, a very humble person. Their collection is just amazing. Location is also easy access and you can also see local painter doing some live painting. There is also a cafe where you can chill out.

At ARMA Agung Rai has created a place of incredible beauty, not only the gardens and Museum of art, but the entire ambience of ARMA makes it one it one of the most beautiful places to stay in Ubud. We were kindly upgraded to a private villa, with its own pool and garden.. Absolutely wonderful

Entrance fee rp.100,000 per person. Gets a free drink voucher for the Kopi Cafe, very traditional and beautiful atmosphere, on Wednesdays they have shows in the evening. Lots of beautiful paintings in 3 different buildings, traditional style, modern and abstract style. There is always seats around to catch a break from looking at the art. The food at the cafe is a bit expensive for my budget but it was prepared nicely.

This place offers a bit of everything, there is a great museum, lots of artwork and a good 4* accommodation offering both modern and traditional rooms and villas. They offer shuttle service to Ubud countless times daily. The breakfast is okay but not great. There are 2 restaurants offering good enough food options plus a charming coffee shop. The best part is the grounds, there is so much art, sculptures, lush gardens plus the amazing rice fields. You can walk to the village behind ARMA and enjoy many activities here including art classes, dance shows, etc. The location is okay as you can just walk up the road to explore or enjoy a good meal at many nearby restaurants. Overall a solid 4 star experience.

So yea, at 150k rupiahs, it’s quite an expensive entry fee. Not sure if all the art I saw was worth that fee. BUT many pieces are beautiful or intriguing (I especially liked the work by expat Walter Spies), you can take photos (even though signs say not to which is silly considering the price!) and the grounds are incredibly beautiful. Honestly, after seeing the art, I enjoyed potentially just as much wandering the resort grounds. Definitely made me want to book the resort the next time I’m in Bali! (hotel stay included the museum). The museum ticket includes a coffee or tea at the on-site restaurant. Also there is a very cool painting and woodblocking exhibition on by Japanese/Bali artist Comeon Komatsu. Only minor criticism otherwise is the stuffiness of the museums on site: fans (if not AC!) would make the experience much better.

  • 4/5 G D. 4 years ago on Google
This place needs better maintenance of Art works because it's really hot inside the building and several paintings and drawings look bent and warped, viewing from the side. Also, no proper storage of works not on display. Very sad. Other than that, very nice and diverse collection. A must to visit!

Lovely Ubud interlude. The owner curator spent his life preserving great Balinese art. A precious gift for the future. He was on the gorgeous garden grounds with a pair of pruners! Accommodations and the restaurant support this sanctuary. High recommendation.

Nice museum of painting. The place was so big we could see how they make it. There is a coffee shop also. Nice...👌

The entrance fee of 150k rupiah is a bit steep but includes a free hot tea or coffee at the cafe. There are some beautiful artworks in the gallery spaces and the grounds are lovely to wander through. The gallery rooms are very, very hot and stuffy though as there is no AC or fans - installing some pedestal fans wouldn't go astray as it made it really difficult to enjoy the art and I'm not sure if the humidity is great for conservation. Otherwise interesting.

A museum that definitely worth a visit if you were in Ubud. They provide complimentary drink voucher per visitor plus a book. This museum linked to a resort which was pretty amazing. The resort were quite big, have swimming pools and also mini padi field. You can your complimentary drink (plus some desserts maybe) while enjoying the mini padi field view. They have total 3 main halls to display art pieces and I spent 1.5 hours to visit the whole place. Staffs inside are very friendly too. Highly recommended place if you are boring with cafes in Ubud. Oh yea, there have a huge, spectacular padi field oil painting piece in one of the hall 😍 thats my favourite piece among all!

A great art collection that has a bit of everything - old and new Balinese style and some Western artists’ work that was inspired by their time in Indonesia. We got a sneak preview of an exclusive exhibition that was about to launch the following day. The Warung Kopi restaurant was also nice to grab a bite after the gallery visit. There was a decent gallery & lunch ticket combo which we gladly used.

Attended one of their evening Legong performance and it was hands down the best performance I saw in Bali. The Gamelan was amazing, the actors/dancers were top tier. Originally it was suppose to be in their outside performance theater but rain drove the show under a roof for the night and it was still exceptional. Sadly I missed my opportunity to go into the Museum during the day, but the grounds are beautiful

  • 5/5 Geoffrey L. 1 year ago on Google
One of the most beautiful exhibition spaces i have ever visited, with a profusion of trees, water, tinkerings of floating gamelan notes, and artists painting assiduously in amongst it all. 3 buildings featuring traditional Balinese art (including a whole section dedicated to the history of Balinese art and the dominant influence of Walter Spies), modern art, and a space for temporary exhibitions. Entry includes a coffee/tea to be enjoyed whilst surrounded by the beautiful lush greenery
