The food was thoroughly underwhelming and disappointing. Service and atmosphere was great, but for a high end restaurant, the actual taste of the food was very average. The presentation was nice, yet every dish was just missing a little something to actually bring out the flavour. Overall very bland, the chicken was incredibly dry. Fried food was oily. My biggest reason for leaving a 1 star review is due to the cost ($480 AUD for 4 people) relative to the food. If you pay that much in Bali, you expect genuine greatness and a jaw dropping experience. I hope that this was just a one off experience and the team are able to improve going forward. Lovely service, thank you.

Intimate and nicely decorated restaurant. Food is decent and not exorbitantly priced. Menu has its hits and misses with the seafood dishes generally being better than the meat dishes. Service is quick and efficient although it lacks warmth. There is a smart casual dress code which is loosely enforced. No singlets or tops with beer brands. Otherwise, shorts and sandals and a decent shirt is acceptable.

I believe this place just reopened after a couple years, my husband and I had dinner here a few nights after the reopening, and it was really a great experience. The plates were brought out in perfect timing, the fish was amazing, and if you’re here then you have to try their desserts. It was similar to dining at a michelin star restaurant with the presentation of the food and the ambiance. The manager Tomo (I think that’s his name) was really helpful. Will definitely come back again on our next visit to Bali :)

Honesty one of the best dining experiences I've ever had in Bali. The service was great, the food was incredible, the cocktails made everywhere else seem amateurish... Make sure you book, because it seems word is out about this place and it was absolutely packed. Highly recommended!

Food is very nice. Expected of one star Michelin restaurant. Everything is great, staff is helpful and friendly, ambiance is great. The lamb is done in the way its tender and no ‘sheep’ taste. The crayfish and lobster noodles is tasty, kids love them. Overall very good experience. Will recommend people to come. Price wise: its not expensive consider the quality of the food. Ps: please order the oyster, its very good and limited in quantity. We wanted to order more but its sold out.

Had a quick dinner here before going for our massage appointment. Ambience and environment was good and nice vibes. Aircon was a bit weak though. The food was absolutely delectable and everything was so delicately prepared. Special mention to the slow cook beef cheeks and coconut rice. The dessert menu was certainly not up to par and was a downer in closing off the meal. Slightly pricey, but would still recommend to pay a visit

All I can say is... WOW. This place blew me away. Not only is it extremely high end and classy, but it also offers a large variety of Indonesian classics. Not to mention the price is very reasonable compared to fine dining in America. You will not be disappointed as the ambiance is soothing and breathtaking and the waitstaff is kind and well versed in English. My wife and I have already booked our next visit on the last night of our trip.

If you want to experience gourmet Indonesian dishes with contemporary fusion, this is the place. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, 3-4 parking spots and a decent size stairs leading to the door. Once inside, the dining area shouts fancy with its high ceiling. Been here twice. Exceptionally food. Well stocked bar. Bourbon & Tea is an amazing cocktail and the fish was memorable. Highly recommended. —————— UPDATED: Oct 2019 Dined here again with a visitor. Much to my surprise it was a full house during low season October. Delicious food as all previous times. More photos

Probably the best Indonesian cuisine restaurant in Bali. The cocktails they have are really good too. Price wise, it’s expensive, but won’t break the bank and the quality is worth it. Given that the flavour of the food is skewed towards the savoury side, I would recommend getting some rice. The rice portion itself is quite generous so I would recommend getting 1 packet for every 2 person just so you can eat more of the dishes.

It would have been 100% perfect if the hall staff didn’t stop us when we were walking out of the restaurant to ask 'if we had already paid the bill yet?' for me it was really rude and disrespectful. We enjoyed most of the night and the food was extremely delicious. The ambiance was great too. It was my birthday celebration and the restaurant surprised us with the cake. it would've been an amazing night had that staff never stopped us midway 🥹 never in my life been accused of not paying the bill. it ruined everything. but nonetheless the food was amazing. other staff was super nice. we paid about 2M ish and it was totally worth it.

Amazing Indonesian fine dining. Excellent service and beautiful ambience too. Wish I had more space in my stomach to try more dishes. They also have a tasting menu and cocktail tasting flight, which I will need to try another time! 10/10 would recommend and go again. Pricier than the average restaurant but well worth it

A modern take on Indonesian food served in a unique, modern atmosphere. Recommend for a nicer dinner out in Bali. We quite enjoyed our meal. We ordered the Siobak Bebek, a roast duck meal served on top of red cabbage along with a few side dishes. They served a small chicken curry type dish to everyone as a start which was a nice touch. All the food was excellent. Good cocktail and wine menu. While certainly less expensive than a similar restaurant outside of Bali, it was a but more expensive than what we've become accustomed to in Bali. While they don't appear to have a very strict dress code (their website only restricts "men's singlets) most customers were well dressed.

Soft shell crab and duck breast starters were delightful. The pork belly main was delicious! Presentation and service was impeccable. You cannot get fine dining like this back home for such a reasonable price, highly recommended.

Sophisticated Indonesian Fine Dining in Bali On our final evening in Bali, we dined at Merah Putih and were thrilled by the beautifully presented, expertly executed Indonesian fare. This is Indonesian fine dining at its best. The food presentation was gorgeous and modern, showing off the fresh, high-quality ingredients in each dish creatively. The flavors were complex yet balanced. The service also struck the right note - attentive but not overbearing, with waiters coming by just frequently enough to fulfill any requests. The cocktails were another highlight, with local inspirations and stories artfully translated into the tastes and presentations. The experience outside the restaurant was just as smooth, with helpful staff handling parking and transportation. Given the stylish ambiance, polished service, and exceptional food and drinks, we felt the prices were fair and worth paying for such an elevated culinary experience on our final night in Bali. For those looking to indulge in sophistication Indonesian cuisine prepared with care and creativity, Merah Putih is a superb date-night choice that my partner and I wholly enjoyed. It made for a memorable last evening to cap off an incredible trip.

Hands down best place we've been to in Bali. Fine dining experience and pricey but very worth. We took on the 10 course sampler for 600++ per pax but it was a very worthwhile experience. Ambience was great and grand, food was well presented and service was impeccable. Will recommend and even come back when we're back here.

Very nice restaurant that serves alteration Indonesian traditional cuisines. Foods taste great. The different cooking technique and modification in presentation seemed also toning down the taste intensity from the original-traditional ones. Right portion though a bit pricey. Lovely dining interior and very nice ambience. Very warm and helpful staff.

A great Bali experience, to sit inside this glasshouse looking restaurant and enjoying a beautiful meal. Do make a booking in advance as it is always fully booked out, especially for dinners. You will have better luck with booking your lunch here. It isn’t too expensive and I would say it is great value for money. Staff are attentive and very friendly. But most importantly the food is super delicious.

As a vegetarian I was blown away by the menu and breathtaking restaurant design. The place has amazing tasting food, great wine and liquor lists, and awesome architectural vibe. It’s food is definitely worth writing home about and I am sure coming back again. The appetizers for were awesome and distinct. All of the price were great for a Michelin restaurant.

The food here is fantastic. We did the feed me style menu, and the food offerings were great (690K plus 17%). High quality and fresh. I would highly recommend coming here. The venue itself is beautiful. We will be coming back next time The only down side was that we were sat next to a large group of around 30 people celebrating something the whole time, this was frustrating for us and others around us as they were quite disruptive. The staff did appologise a few times about these people though. There is an upstairs dining area that would probably suit larger groups.

Another must visit restaurant for an enchanting and delightful culinary adventure. Nestled in a greenhouse-like ambiance, it offers impeccable cuisine and a sophisticated atmosphere, promising a memorable dining experience. Staff were very friendly but sometimes they were no where to be found when we needed them. Food was acceptable, it’s not gonna make you wow, but it’s not bad neither. What I didn’t like about it is that they charged for drinking water. I remember it was 50k IDR or something. It was my first time, being charged for water at a fine dining restaurant. As a fine dining restaurant, drinking water actually affects your taste. It helps to clear out so that you could taste better for the next course. Paying almost 800,000 IDR for that meal?! Not gonna come back again since a lot of better restaurants with cheaper price in Bali.

(Translated by Google) I made a reservation in advance through the staff at the hotel. We went at night and when the sun goes down, the beautiful interior gets dark, so if you visit, we recommend you go by day. It was more beautiful at sunset. Because it's a fusion, it fits well into the demanding groom's mouth and eats so well. Not an affordable restaurant but well worth it. Merah Putih is a culinary gem in Bali, delivering a magnificent array of Balinese cuisine that's a cut above the ordinary. Their menu is a celebration of local flavors and culinary traditions, offering an elevated dining experience that transcends the typical street food scene. Each dish is a masterful fusion of authentic Balinese ingredients and modern presentation, showcasing the rich heritage of the region's gastronomy in a refined and sophisticated ambiance. The restaurant's commitment to honoring traditional recipes while adding a contemporary twist creates a dining experience that's not just about savoring great food, but also a journey through Bali's vibrant culinary culture.

Beautiful restaurant with excellent service. The cocktails were great and steamed buns were the best I've ever had. The pannacotta dessert was also delicious. Both our mains were unfortunately lacking in flavour which was disappointing.

Amazing food with impeccable service! Everything was so good, from the complimentary fish soup to the crackers, all the mains we ordered were on point: beef cheek, lamb curry, leaf wrapped fish, pork belly. Can skip the eggplant bao and prawn dumplings.. The drinks were refreshing too, definitely a must visit in Bali.

We had an incredible dining experience at Merah Putih - the food was exceptional, with so many wonderful Indonesian dishes, one of the best places to eat in Seminyak. The drinks are also great, and one of the few places I've seen that serve dessert wine on Bali. Highly recommended.

One of the most wonderful meals I've ever had in my life, anywhere in the world! Fantastic Indonesian fusion food, beautifully presented, stunning garden setting, happy guests and atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. Jasper the co-owner warmly welcomed us, explained dishes, origins, and how some were adapted (for example, keeping the flavor of one Balinese dish but eliminating its usual tooth-cracking toughness). Their architect creatively designed the beautiful building so rainwater flows down inside the pillars, and out into pools at the bottom. Absolutely marvelous, delicious, memorable experience!

Great experience! Accommodated us one hour before our reservation, wonderful mains and desserts and service was excellent - with an in-house magician performing from table to table. Even has a road marshal to guide your gocar in through crazy traffic.

Food was excellent and well cooked. Ambience was nice and service was great. Would 100% recommend to anyone who wants a little more fancy than usual Indonesian food with some class. Price is a bit more than the usual restaurant but the flavours warrant it - I think it’s very worth it for this price range.

It's worth it for those who want to try Indonesian fine dining experiences. The price is more expensive than a local restaurant in Bali however it's totally worth it, worth it. The food presentation was excellent and despite their price the taste was awesome. The other thing that makes me give 5 stars to Merah Putih is their architectures, it looks so elegant. It's a perfect place for a usual dinner or date. The staff are also nice and friendly and their service is excellent. Two thumbs up for them.

Casual Fine dining Balinese fusion in a beautiful striking architectural setting. The food is generous portions, elegantly presented and refined local flavors. Price was it feels like you are getting a lot more for your money, it doesn’t break the bank to have an elevated dining experience. Staff service leaves nothing to be desired. Bon appetit!

  • 4/5 Anna S. 4 months ago on Google
I liked 3 dishes of 7! It is not good result. Of course if we paid 20-30$ per person it might be great. But for the price it was overrated. Nice atmosphere. Quite good service. But after dessert they don’t even clean our table. We had set menu with 7 dishes and 2 desserts. You have to make a reservation. Better if you will buy a coupon on the site. The price will be same but you will get one cocktail complimentary.

Birthday dinner. Portions are bigger than expected. As a foodie, I would highly recommend this main course dish - Grilled Fish with Prawn. The richness of taste and fresh quality of food are evident in this dish. I will come back to MP just to re-order this dish again in a few months time! Some of the dishes were too spicy for me so do check with your waiter.

Stunning cathedral-like restaurant that really serves well as a date night spot but also for celebrations. A great introduction to traditional Indonesia flavours with a refined presentation. We had the dinner tasting menus, one with the vegan option. The normal menu was stunning, however the vegan menu could be adjusted slightly as there were 3 dishes with the same base (which was a very strong Indonesian curry-like sauce). Towards the end it turned me off to taste the same strong flavours again. Cocktails were amazing and no complaints there. We had a thoroughly good time overall.

Was such a great place to eat. Food was incredible and my husband had the wine matching menu and loved it. The staff were so friendly too. It was our first wedding anniversary and we were served like kings. The only reason I gave a 4 over all and a 3 in atmosphere was because of the noise. Although you can’t hear people’s individual conversations, you can still hear a chatter. It’s not like Bambu where it has an ambiance. Very pretty though and food as I said worth the drop in. Would have given 4.5 if I could have.

The staff and the atmosphere were all great. Fine dining place with nice food. They have Happy Hour for cocktail 1-1free. Some cocktails are okay but not my classic mojito. I could not even have more than two sips. One star loss for this. And no one cares if I like my cocktail or why I left it there. another star loss for this.

Went there with 4 of my friends for his bachelor party dinner to have an exquisite dining experience and service was good and so was the atmosphere hence the 2 star review. But that's where it went downhill after, for starters we had beef shank croquette/goat sliders & bluefin tuna (the tuna tasted rancid. Maybe the chef should check it & taste it before sending the food out). As for the other 2 starters they were good. We had the octopus & some kind of mixed seafood bowl slipper lobster and catish for entree and we were all dissapointed with the flavours and freshness of the ingredients even the taro itself didn't taste right. I understand that the local flavours have lots of strong spices which i myself do enjoy but the flavours of the octopus did not go well together. As for main course we had the king prawn soup beef cheeks and the whole white snapper the king prawn broth was great in flavour but potatoes were under cooked which kind of ruined the dish the beef cheeks was really nice. As for the whole white snapper it was overcooked and started to get chewy. All of us went back to our vacation home that night with bloated stomachs and didn't feel to well the next day which is surprising as we wouldn't expect getting it from such a exquisite place, I myself am a chef and I know from experience where i would get my food poisoning from. Hopefully your venue will majorly improve on the standard & quality of your food as you have such a great location and venue.

A must try when in Bali, a unique twist to traditional Indonesian flavors Merah Putih means 'red and white', which are the colours of the Indonesian flag. That's perfect for this excellent restaurant, which celebrates food from across the archipelago. The short menu is divided between traditional and modern – the latter combining Indo flavours with diverse foods. The soaring dining room has a hip style and the service is excellent.

Always such fine food. Every time I’m in Bali, I’ll reserve a night to dine here. The menu changes seasonally, every dish is delicious and they have superb cocktails. Nice to see the wine list improving. For bigger groups, if you can get a seat up in the booths up top, it’s less noisy than downstairs but downstairs is still very nice. Beautiful decor with the high ceilings too. They accommodated for vegan and gluten free very well.

Went to Merah Putih this evening for dinner on recommendations from friends. The positives...the place itself is beautiful and plush, and the kafir lime cocktail is delicious. It sort of stops there. My friends and I were very disappointed in the food, and the octopus dish was so inedible we had to send it back. I would not recommend to anyone who has even a slightly delicate stomach.

Amazing food and interior. We didn’t get to dine in the main dining room but had tables on the bar. The wine list is wide and filled with good varieties. Also their cocktails are delicious. Food were also surprisingly good. Had no expectation going in and was blown away by the quality and the taste. Despite the fancy interior and pricing, it stay true to the authentique taste and improved upon.

Amazing meal! One of the best I’ve ever had and I’ve been a chef for 10 years so am quite difficult to please! I had the tasting menu with wine pairing.. then added oysters, every dish was delicious and beautifully plated. If you don’t go for the tasting menu make sure you try the braised beef cheeks, duck soup, squid salad and prawn dumpling. Thank you so much to the whole Merah Putih team for making the evening so spectacular. Get Michelin in here; these guys deserve a star!
