This place has been sold unfortunately due to the coronavirus 😢 I am a Kiwi and made a special trip here because of the previous reviews. The original owner I understand has returned back to New Zealand. The pies are available but the place is no longer called "I make the Pies" It's now called "The Bread Basket" It's located in the same building so Google maps will still work but there is a different name. I chose a mince and cheese pie (Kiwi Classic) and flat white coffee. Not bad.. But not awesome considering the price 😢 It's a shame that the owner hasn't updated the Google maps 😢 However it was nice to have a pie n coffee.. But.. Would I come back again 🤔 No I would not.. Nothing special unfortunately 😢

Good but not out of this world. I got the steak and mushroom pie. The crust was really nice and flaky and the filling was decent but I’ve had better Australian/New Zealand meat pies at chain restaurants. Salad was surprisingly really good. The flat white and piccolo latte were a little lacking. Coffee next door at blacklist is same price and much better.

Delicious pies! We got steak & mushroom and steak & cheese. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very flakey & good taste. Meat was tender. Salad had other veggies in it that added flavour. Coffee was decent too. Next time I think I may want to try the Mince & cheese.

The pies were absolutely gorgeous, so yum! Service was fab too and we tried a dessert too which was great. Definitely would come back.

Best palce where to have a pancake. This red velvet pancake is amazing. Not need any filter to make this photo look beautiful, and when you'll food arrive you can just tell wow, and the taste is double wow =)

I have been in canggu for a while now and have ate at a bunch of restaurants. Sometimes you just want some comfort food and this is exactly what this place offers. The pies were fresh fluffy and full of flavor. I was super surprised considering pies are hard to get right. Good job! Highly recommend to anyone looking for something different while visiting canggu!

Sorry team - Kiwi through and through here, who loves pies - paying $7nz equivalent for a pie, when you can get unreal food from amazing restaurants in Canggu is one thing, but the fact that I got served a pie with average pastry and dull sauce really makes me question who would come here. Sharpen up, and blow on the pie.

Bloody good pies!! I’m a kiwi who’s been travelling Asia for 2 months and this bakery took me straight home. I got my hands on the butter chicken pie which is my go to back home and it was probably the best butter chicken pie I’ve had. Recommend to all my nz cuzzies! Chur

Incredibly good pies!!! I grew up in NZ so I've had my fair share of good meat pies... but the steak and cheese pie I just had was one of the best I've ever eaten! The pastry was perfect, the slow cooked beef was plentiful with a delicious flavour.

I love this place. Very chilled atmosphere and the staff are absolutely lovely. They have the best banana cake in canguu in my opinion. Menu items are at a good price too. Definitely visit.

My first time eating nz pies and I'm glad it was here. The steak and black pepper pie is to die for with strong beef gravy. The chicken and mushroom pie was delicate but equally tasty. Makes want to go New Zealand even more! Mash with gravy compliments the pies very well.

Edit: the last time we went the staff seems super unmotivated. I ordered a second hot chocolate drink and it took 15 minutes just to inform us then that they don’t have almond milk anymore. The last 2 times we went here was not a good experience. Super slow and not so friendly anymore the staff. One of the best cafe in canggu. Absolutely my favorite one. Friendly staff, comfortable chairs, cozy design, very good coffee and hot chocolate, delicious pastries. We haven’t tried the pies yet though 😁

Fantastic little place! Was amazing to have some mash and gravy after a few months of traveling. We got the steak and mushroom pie and the steak and peppercorn. Both were great but the peppercorn was a winner. Menu says seasonal veg, but I’m pretty certain they were frozen/boiled (maybe menu should just say veg as the word seasonal suggests fresh). Otherwise super tasty and will be back again. No booze served here but you can bring your own/buy from next door at Lust & Lost and they have a 2:1 happy hour 😀

After traveling SE Asia for 6 months it was damn good to have a decent pie! I had the steak and cheese and certainly was like a pie from home,however I found it a tad dry (maby in a warmer for some time?) but I'm guessing this would not happen often. Great wee shop, we had mash and veg also and a free susage roll! Some Watties Tomatoe sauce would have topped it off! If you're after a decent pie this is the place to go.

Just found this place a few days ago and I've been back 3 times already. The food and the coffee is awesome. Tried a steak pie which was absolutely fantastic! Also the breakfast and double chocolate brownie which were equally as good. It's nice to have a little feeling of home now and again and this place ticks all the boxes. Be sure go and try anything on the menu. Big thumbs up from me 👍

FAVORITE PLACE So how do I start. I've been a regular sunday brunch customer for the past two years and theres no negative thing ever occurred. Everything is delicious here but these are the main points that I would like to point out; - the cafe is tiny and quiet, it's cozy. Not your usual overcrowded place in canggu full of celebgram sitting for hours. - the first and only authentic new zealand cafe in bali. Their meat pies are to die for. I could eat their double chocolate brownies as dessert for the rest of my life. Tasty coffee in a big cup, you wouldn't get such quality in other place without having to pay twice the amount. If you fancy a decent breakfast, they got a big plate of full english breakfast. I've tried almost everything here and everything is delicious and homemade. Pumpkin pie, apple pie, afgan cookies, you'll love them all. - cold complimentary water and AC room. Not every places in canggu are accommodated with AC. - sincere and attentive staff. One of the main reason I come here regularly, I always feel welcomed by the staff's hospitality. Keep up the good work! Theres a thing I would like to add and I hope the management will take it in a consideration; - Scone. Your scone is amazing, sad that it's not on display anymore. Please bring it back

Went to I make the pies hoping to pick up a nice brunch to take home and enjoy with my wife and child. Purchased 1 steak pie, 1 steak and mushroom pie, 1 mince pie and 1 sausage roll. Disappointing is an understatement. The steak pie and the mince pie were so over cooked, to the extent that there was no gravy, just dry dark flaky meat, and the flavour was disgusting. The steak and mushroom pie, not even willing to try. It's just sitting in the fridge until I take out the mushrooms and give the rest to our dogs. The sausage roll was the same dry and horrible tasting meat. Definitely not NZ or Australia worthy, but in fact the worst pies and sausage roll that I have ever tried. Considering that all this came in at over 300k including the ridiculous tax and service charge, can only give this experience 2 thumbs down, and recommend anyone wanting a good pie to search elsewhere. Sorry for such a terrible review, but I have to share this so the owner knows, and potential customers do too.
