The quintessential Ubud attraction. Beautiful greenery all around albeit a bit commercialized. You can park in one of the nearby places, enjoy view from one of the many restaurants and cafes or you can trek down all the way or trek to the Swing. Enough and many photo opportunities to be had. A small entry fee and "donation" needs to be paid but seems worth the price. Come here during early morning or late evenings as afternoons can get unbearably hot.

STUNNING and UNIQUE VIEWS! The rice fields are beautiful, with a characteristic shape of the sowing fields that will catch your eyes right away. Walking through these fields is very relaxing, as you admiring the bright green of its surroundings and breathe in the fresh air. Make sure to visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon in order to avoid the hot weather around noon. There are a few restaurants near the rice terraces.

Pretty rice terrace. Very instagram tourist oriented, to the point where it lost its authentic feel. Everything is set up with picture frames and displays for the “perfect picture”. The rice terrace is smaller than we expected, however we have no frame of reference. The fields are well laid out with foot paths and stairs where needed. Be mindful: many shops along the streets pretend to sell tickets to the rice fields, however they only sell access to the view! Make sure to go to the official tourist information office to get the real hiking tour tickets. Halfway through the hike, you’ll come across a stand selling cold coconuts. Do yourself a favor and buy one. They’re the best we’ve had in Bali and after you drink the water, they cut them in half and make spoons out of the husk to eat.

Beautiful place! I like it more as it is not artificial for tourists, it is real place for local people. If you can choose - go in May/early June or September/early October as in late July when I was it was harvest few weeks before and rice is not grown, few fields have only water inside as they are preparing for new season. For walking on fields - enter from the last parking spot, after all famous restaurants. There is a walking path and bridge to cross on other side.

Amazing experience! Everyone was so helpful! The guy who took pictures gave the best advice how to pose! Customer service skills was excellent. Everyone greets you with a smile and there were so many of them. You can walk around and take multiples photos. Overall beautiful place! Be prepared to be walking up and down staircases. Tried the swing, it is nice although scary but it was the best experience of my life!!

Absolutamente stunning views from the Rice terrace. You must go. I would say don’t bother to go to the one with the entrance fee, there are about fifteen cafes and Bali swings in the area that don’t have the entrance fee ( we didn’t realise this before but it’s definitely a waste of money ). Choose a cafe that looks nice and enjoy the views. All the cafes and restaurants also have parking so no need to use it for that either.

The view here is just gorgeous. If you're like me and don't like hiking or walking much then I recommend going to a coffee shop or restaurant overlooking the rice fields. I went to Tis cafe and the view and the vibe was just perfect. I spent an hour or so getting some lunch and having drinks overlooking the fields. It was perfect.

The rice terraces themselves are quite beautiful and remarkable, and alone would be a 5star rating. But for me giving the overall experience a 3 would be over generous. If you like the mass tourism machine in full swing then you’ll give this rice terrace area a 5. In saying that it probably doesn’t matter which of the more famous terrace area you visit it will be the same mass commercial tourism experience.

Lovely rice terraces and I enjoyed a nice drink at the cafes facing it. It was a beautiful view. Going later has its advantages as its cooler and not brave the hot noon sun. However there's lots of flies and insects so bring your insect repellent with you. Worth a visit.

The Tegallalang Rice Terrace is one of the most sought-after places among tourists. This place has one of its kind picturesque views that you would not stop clicking pictures of it. I would advise that you should avoid visiting this place during noontime. As this place gets quite warm and that might spoil your whole visit. If you are visiting Ubud, then 'Tegallalang Rice Terrace' must have to on your schedule.

There are multiple entrance to visit the rice terrace area but on average entrance cost is the same at 10k IDR. Since I went here on the morning, amplified by the rain on the previous night, the path down along the rice terrace was quite slippery. I'd recommend coming here after 9am or at around 3pm to get the best light.

There are several entrance points to see the rice terraces. I feel like it was a tourist trap, where you pay a lot of money just to take a picture on a swing. And then they don’t tell you that the terraces are harvest so you only see sad empty brown fields. Don’t go here. Take a scooter and drive in to the fields for a better view. It’s free and more enjoyable.

Beautiful rice terraces, I have no clue how they were able to build these. So stunning, but one side is crammed full of cafes overlooking the terraces. Some have those famous swings, which I would recommend doing from the cafe side, as the view behind you is only of the rice terraces and makes for better pictures, instead of the 2 swings on the rice terraces hike side, which have the backdrop of the tons of cafes. For a good view, take a hike and just look forward or to the one side, or choose to sit in one of the cafes! Haha (all my photos were taken from a cafe).

A wonderful picturesque place in Bali Ubud that was so peaceful an d relaxing. The expansive views of rice terraces were amazing. We had great fun with the swings where the staff really helped with the photography and capturing some cool shots though we were let down by the clouded skies. I had hoped to view some snakes among the terraces but didn’t except on heading back where we caught sight of two up to their naughtiness 😉 and to my wife’s shock horror. It was fascinating to learn how the irrigation was designed to suit the hillside river farming - Ingenious🤓.

Our entry was 50,000 each and upon entering the view is beautiful. The main terrace is littered with swings and people taking photos which is fine but does feel very touristic. We enjoyed sitting, having a beer and taking in the view. The same could have been done for less from one of the nearby coffee shops which look over the terrace. Overall I think it's ok experience, if you want to take the swing photo (they do charge for it extra).

Stairs and stairs. I didn't go down all the way. It's good with the pictures from 2 level down. Unless you want to go down tracking. 10k entrance ticket I don't feel worth it. I rather just pay for drinks on one of the Cafes and enjoy the view.

Very picturesque place, but that’s about it. I love seeing places that hold a lot of character, and I don’t mind busy places so long as it’s for the right reasons, but the issue with here is everyone is only there for photos of themselves, and not of the nature surrounding them which has been somewhat polluted with ‘instagram worthy’ photo op spots. I’d probably not recommend a visit to here although it is very lovely, you’ll be batting posers out the way just to be able to walk around.

It was super cool to roam around. Most of the tourists are lazy enough and stays at the entrance. I'd recommend to roam all around the place, it's worth it. I walked enough to reach the nearest village, there is a lots of hindu constructions in a super good condition. The temple there is beautiful. And no one goes there. I think the price was around 25~50k to enter

Typical postcard views of rice terraces, numerous swings and activities, stroll around. It can become a bit monotonous and nothing special except the downward views. Still, highly recommend if you are around this region. There are cafes and restaurants bordering the heights, which offer great views. Great place for you if you enjoy taking your time walking or hiking

One of the famous tourist attractions of Bali is Tegallalang Rice Terrace. The rice fields were naturally located in the mountains in the form of mineral steps that had very beautiful views. And it is a good place for photography. I just recommend not to go there at noon because the weather is very hot. The best time to visit is at sunrise. There are many tours for cycling and watching the sunrise here. Many handicrafts are sold around this place. We bought our beautiful straw hats that you see in the picture from here.

One of the best places on Bali. The terraces are incredible. You pay 50k entry then you can visit whole area. There is ton of places where you can take photo for free. Also there are places where you can pay for the “instagram” shots. Like swings. 11/10 must see.

Simply captivating, we stayed more than two hours without seeing the time passed, it ignores the local business side which is very obvious in view of the income provided... this site is particularly beautiful, after having seen rice fields in Laos, Vietnam, Philippines and Myanmar these are superb!

This terrace is very big and pretty. Also, very turistic, so the approaches by locals around entrance can be intense. There is a fee to pay to get to walk through the rice fields and it varies according to the place you access it. There is what to look like a main entrance with a parking lot and numbers being distributed at entrance where they charge 50k. But if you walk a little to the left (for the perspective of who faces the rice fields) you may find cheaper. I could pay half just by walking 5 minutes.

Talking about nature combined with art, then Bali is the answer. This paradise island in Indonesia can create something ordinary becoming something extraordinary. One of the proofs is the rice fields in Tegalalang, Ubud. . . When the fields usually are the only place to plant and grow rice, with a lil magical touch, Balinese in Ubud turned it into a wonderful tourism object. They shaped the fields in a unique way. Even they invited the tourists to feel it, to plant the rice by themselves. . . Not far from the rice terraces, they built restaurants. Enjoying the fileds in the afternoon by sitting on the edge of it, taking a fresh air, sipping a cup of coffee, and having some smoothies are the best way to close your day. . . Have you ever seen a rice field like this?? . . You habe to visit this place

A fabulous experience among the rice paddies outside the town of Ubud. Several free entrances but the first requires a payment fo $0.70 to get down their terrace and use their swing. It is not possible to trek along the terraces anymore. Due to a lack of maintenance some bridges are simply too dangerous to use, and the trails are overgrown in places. Instead, proceed along the main road to the first road on your right at the end of the village (from the direction of Ubud), use the entrances you see here and there to get beautiful views and take pix. Once you have turned right and passed under an arch, stop at the 1st car park on your right, take the steps down (not too visible from the car park) to the terraces and walk down the trail. Farmer Nyoman has set up a couple of benches to rest and admire the view and enjoy the serenity of this area. A couple of things to know before you get there: 1. Make a taxi reservation for the return journey if you come with Grab, the village is not on the Grab app and there are no taxis up there. 2. After your visit, have lunch at TIS, a beautiful restaurant in the village with a lovely pool for a nice refreshing dip after your meal. The whole restaurant, entirely made of bamboo is built on the terrace, providing a fantastic view to the visitors. The village has an array of small stores selling batik and souvenirs. We had a fantastic day, excellent pix and videos, fascinating views of a beautiful area.

One of the most beautiful places in Bali and not only. Amazing scenery and breathtaking view. I tried the zip line and it is the best way to see how majestic is this place. If you don't have any phobia don't miss It. Also there are swings there that you can try. This is a must visit place while you are in Bali. Really nice place. You can stroll a little bit in the rice fields, however, if you want to walk more than the touristy part, you need to give a small donation, however small it is. Here we also did the Bali Swing, it was 150K Rps ($10) per person with the dress included. Great experience, and definitely a come at least once.

It was dry season and the rice have been harvested when we visited so we didn't get to enjoy the view. You'll need to pay entrance fee before you can go down and have a hike along in the terraces. Best time to visit during rainy season because it is the time when they grow rice. Driving up you're greeted with free parking and a security guard who helps you cross the road. You buy tickets before going down to the rice terraces, and on your way down get greeted by someone who let's you taste a variety of tea and coffee (no fee). The terraces themselves are stunning, with a short (2-3km) hike up and down. I'd recommend wearing secure shoes as some of the trails can be slippy, but we survived in flip flops. Throughout the terraces there are cafe stops, swings, photo opportunities etc. The place is very clean with rubbish bins dotted around. Really enjoyed seeing the terraces and the relaxing atmosphere. Worth going early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds and the heat!

The best place to relax the soul and your eyes. Greenery background with beautiful rice terrace on the hills. Very unique and beautiful. Many places to take good photos here. A must visit attraction if you are in Bali. Easiest route is by hiring a driver to take you here as parkings are limited here. If you are riding a bike, it is quite challenging to ride here from other parts of Bali as the roads are narrow and twisted.

Great place with Balinese soul!) These are not the only ones, but the most popular rice terraces in Bali. In covid times there are very few people here, many cafes are closed, but the most important thing is on the spot. I advise you to visit this place early in the morning, take water and a hat with you) Here you can see how various fruits, passion fruit, banana, durian grow. I also recommend visiting the other rice terraces of the island, they are no worse, but each with its own peculiarity!

Rice terraces are beautiful to watch especially when they are lush green . Unfortunately we did not go in the right time. Nevertheless it's worth visiting. The swings are a major attraction and harum coffee plantation nearby seems to pull a lot of crowd. We had lunch in one of the restaurant with a good view. Activity time totally depends upon how much you are willing to trek

Famous rice terrace fields. Slightly let down with the beauty advertised on social media, although it was an overcast day. Some of the beauty was also minimized by the quantity of tourist ‘adventure’ activities. Multiple swings, zip lines, tight rope bicycles were all going on overhead while we were walking through the fields. The constant screams of excitement took away from the natural beauty. Recommend arriving early to avoid some of the crowds.

Lovely place to visit. The swings are fun and make for great photos and videos. I don't think it's necessarily worth the IDR300K entrance fee... Renting a skirt(for the swing photos) is an additional 50k. Touristy but fun and beautiful none the less.

I had an assumption that there was a free entry, but the security guard directed us to the ticket office. It cost 50k per person, just to enter. They said that we would be able to use photo points for free... What a scam, there were a few framed points where I would have to pay 5k.. not even close to 250k I paid for the family entry. Overall a nice Instagram place, but so artificial, real terraces look different, and absolutely free!

The rice terrace in Bali is an absolute marvel that deserves every bit of its five-star rating. Nestled amidst lush greenery and rolling landscapes, it is a breathtaking sight that captures the essence of Bali's natural beauty. As I ventured into the rice terrace, I was instantly captivated by its serene ambiance and stunning vistas. The meticulously crafted terraces, ingeniously designed to harness water for rice cultivation, create an awe-inspiring symphony of cascading green layers. It's a living testament to the timeless agricultural traditions of Bali. Walking through the terrace pathways, I felt a sense of tranquility and harmony with nature. The rhythmic pattern of the rice paddies and the gentle rustling of leaves created a soothing soundtrack, taking me away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The panoramic views offered from different vantage points were simply mesmerizing. Whether I was standing at the edge of a terrace, gazing into the distance, or overlooking the entire landscape from a higher viewpoint, the beauty of the rice terrace never failed to amaze me. Moreover, nestled within this natural wonderland are incredible spots to chill and eat. Imagine savoring a delicious meal while overlooking the stunning rice terraces— it's an experience that combines gastronomic delights with breathtaking views. Whether it's a local Balinese specialty or international cuisine, there are options to suit every palate. The sheer magnitude and intricacy of the terraces demonstrate the dedication and hard work of the local farmers who have nurtured this land for generations. It's a testament to their deep-rooted connection with the land and their sustainable farming practices. Aside from its natural allure, the rice terrace also provides a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Bali. Visitors can witness farmers diligently tending to their crops, offering a glimpse into the daily lives and traditions of the Balinese people. To enhance the overall experience, there are several viewpoints, cafes, and observation decks strategically placed within the rice terrace area. These spots allow visitors to relax, savor a cup of Balinese coffee or indulge in delectable cuisine, all while fully immersing themselves in the enchanting surroundings

One of the highlights of Ubud. Absolutely stunning rice terraces. Don't be put off by the naff touristy stuff (swings etc) near the start, but instead do the easy hike that takes you on a long loop around the terraces. Truly beautiful. Well worth stopping at one of the many little huts for a drink and to soak in the view.

I went to the Tegallalang Rice Terrace just before COVID and it was incredible. The entry fee is 20,000 IDR. There wasn’t a lot of people around. The views are spectacular. It’s good to get there early and avoid the heat if you want to do the walk. The walk didn’t take us that long. I think we spent around an hour at the terrrace. It was a nice experience.

This is the iconic place to take that swinging Bali pictures. And with that come lots of people, lots of overpriced items and super long lines. When we got there, we were told the swing was closed as they had way too many people in line. So we opted out of that and decided to just explore the general area. It's literally just a field that has lots of photo spots throughout. I would suggest skipping if you're not looking for that perfect Bali picture. Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be slightly different.

Beautiful rice terraces even if harvested. There’s an entrance fee and if you want to take pictures in the specially arranged places or enjoy the swing, you’ll purchase an additional package. I would visit again ☺️

Amazing view and amazing food. I could spend all day in here, people in are also friendly. It's free of charge to go here, the only thing you need to pay is the food, and the swing. You might want to rent a bike though, cuz finding online driver such as Gojek and Grab is pretty difficult to find once you get here.

Visiting the rice fields is a must when in Bali! I felt so connected to Bali while walking around and seeing the rice fields. Bali has so many rice paddies so it’s a quintessential part of the Balinese life and culture. It’s quite a hike, so take comfortable shoes, preferably water proof shoes. I slipped into some of the soil and water and was soaked way above my ankle. I also heard loads and loads of people slipping and falling on some of the rocky areas. The beginning of the trail is particularly steep with nothing to hold on to; my driver had to help me down, so be mindful of this. Other than that, it was a great adventure! I went on my own and left feeling very fulfilled.

Hello! I was there two days ago on 27th of October 2021. It passed only one week after they opened. Everything is in bad condition, dirty and a lot of trash there. All the nests for nice pictures are closed and look dirty. You are not allowed to walk over there, just watch from the highest point. The bridge is broken. The cafe is working, you can sit here. The cost of one ride on a swing is kind of high 150K. I don’t recommend to come here before they repair.

  • 4/5 Gilbert N. 1 year ago on Google
The swings are a fun time. This is a great place for pictures. The rice terraces are cool to check out. The food is good and the beer is cold. Nice little tourist spot.

  • 4/5 Jordan 1 year ago on Google
I’d recommend coming here as part of your Bali experience, do keep in mind this is catered for tourism so expect a lot of tourists to be floating about in amongst some locals. Price of entry is Rp. 10,000 per person, there are also a lot of other activities to partake in, such as going across the zip line which is Rp. 350,000 per person (only one at a time can go) which is quite steep however if you love a thrill, you won’t be left disappointed, there are also options for the tandem bike, swing and a single bike zip line option too. The location and area is beautiful too, although after the other activities, I did find myself to be a bit bored as there’s only so much arrangement of perfectly coordinated rice I could take, maybe not for me but other travellers may take a liking to it.

  • 5/5 Vlad P. 10 months ago on Google
Great views - best to go early morning before it gets hot (you can walk all the way around the terraces). The best views are not at the main entrance but further along. Wouldn't recommend prepaying for the swings, you can always pay directly if you decide to have a go (there are better options compared to the "official" ones). There's a decent day club with swimming pools by the exit on the other side.

  • 5/5 sujeet j. 10 months ago on Google
Beautiful terrace, small energy fee… pay as you do when you use some activities like using props to take photo etc. a bit of walking with lots of up and down steps. Early morning and early afternoon is good. Swing is a good experience. So don’t miss the activity.

  • 5/5 Iwan K. G. 10 months ago on Google
Located on the side of the road, the wonderful sight of rice terrace are marvelous. Entry tickets are separate with the swing area, and also the selections of "warung" inside the terrace field. Mind your step because the path can be slippery and quite steep. Going down may not much a challenge, going back up is a different story. It is best if you wear mountain sandals instead of sporty shoes.

  • 5/5 Inna 10 months ago on Google
Loved it. Get ready as it's super crowded. But the view is stunning. Sports shoes are recommended. U can visit the rice terrace, rent the dress for beautiful photos, do various sports activities. If u get hungry, there are a few places for lunch/dinner/ snacks indoors and outdoors. Wi-Fi is available. Prepare ur wallet, as all activities are costly. However, the overall experience is worth it!!!

  • 5/5 Ting Yong P. 5 months ago on Google
Really beautiful rice terrace. Required to pay 25,000 Rupiah per pax at the entrance. Swing adventure and rental of dress is available. The crew manning the swing takes really good photos using your mobile. Expect to spent about 2 hours (with some rest) in total here.

Ceking Rice Terrace is a great stop if you're out for the day or on a private/self-guided tour. Cost was 50k IDR or around $3 USD to walk it. The location isn't too big, which makes walking the entirety of it very manageable even in the heat. It's a decent mix of touristy yet still retains its natural beauty, meaning you can enjoy some fun amenities suck as the swings or zip lines while still seeing the step fields. If photos are your thing, then you'll find no shortage of great points to get some excellent shots in. There's a good selection of refreshments as well. I'd definitely recommend walking the entire site as it won't take long, and you'll get to enjoy all the viewpoints on offer. Well worth the visit!

  • 5/5 Alla G. 5 months ago on Google
It's a very touristy place. Very touristy indeed. But many people stay to look at the terraces from the top, claiming that from there the whole view, but it's not true, just tourists are too lazy to go down. And it's good, less crowds on the paths. In part of the grounds the rice was already harvested, but in the other half it was still green. Lots of vantage points. There are several outlets where you can grab a drink of everything from water to wine. Of course, at a very expensive price.

  • 5/5 Mila T. 5 months ago on Google
Very beautiful views. If you will go early in the morning, you can enjoy your time almost alone there. You can make a long walk on the rice terraces and drink some coffee or coconut. There are a lot of swings and one zipline.

  • 5/5 Shyamal S. 5 months ago on Google
Unlike the rice terraces you'll see if you visit mos tvillages across Bali, this one falls dramatically down the valley on both sides make for great photos. The ever popular grant swing by the rice terraces that you'll see on the Gram is here as well. Worth the time to get some nice photos but you'll want to see something more local if you want to really see what it's all about.

  • 5/5 Malou 5 months ago on Google
Definitely worth the visit for the walk in the rice fields! There are a bunch of activities and set ups for photo shoots if you are into that, otherwise it is super nice to walk amongst the fieles and end the tour at one of the restaurants looking over the rice terrace.

  • 5/5 Irina P. 4 months ago on Google
Very touristic place but wonderful! The hike can take up to 2-3 hours depending on you, there is an entry fee and a bunch of instagramable points. Full of Bali swings that you need to pay extra. Worth the visit
