Would not do this again. The monkey forest is not a sanctuary. It is a tourist trap designed for people to indulge in exploitative photo opportunities with monkeys. These beautiful animals deserve better. We saw a Chinese tourist exiting one of the First Aid centres on his way to hospital after being bitten as well as two young girls foolishly holding a water bottle being chased by a monkey. Signs clearly state no water bottles. They also state "no feeding monkeys", yet the staff use food to get monkeys to sit and climb on tourists for pictures. This has conditioned the monkeys to climb on people. We kept our distance. All of my pictures were taken with a zoom lens and we kept moving, Staying still had you surrounded by monkeys who do not understand the difference between someone sitting down to rest and someone paying to have a picture taken by using food as an incentive. Beautiful Forest but not entirely comfortable with monkeys being used as props. I love monkeys but they are wild and deserve respect 🐒 I felt very sad for these monkeys and at times nervous for my safety 🐒 🙈 Edit update: the responses to poor reviews by the owner are a clear picture of what you get when you visit.

If you like animals, this is a must go place. Tickets are not expensive and there were no long queues to buy tickets. Throughout the park there are lots of park rangers who are taking care of animals and making sure visitors are safe and do not touch monkeys. Monkeys usually do not bother people unless you are carrying paper or plastic bags, or bottled water/juice then they will try to steal it from you. It was funny to see how a monkey stole a bottle then opened it to drink the water out of the bottle 😊 Just follow the park guidelines and you will have a ton of fun and amazing photos.

Pretty much every one visiting Ubud will come here and it’s well worth it. It’s a beautiful setting with lots of interesting statues and places to sit and hang out. Watching the monkeys doing their thing is very entertaining (especially if a not so smart tourist brings some food in there bag) educational and interesting. Every time I come here I see and learn something new, this time I was amazed to see monkeys cooking. The staff were burning off some piles of vegetation and a group of monkeys were putting bananas and sweet potato into the fire, waiting till they were cooked then getting them out cooling them on the ground and enjoying a nice cooked meal, just amazing to see!

The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is home to over 1,200 monkeys. As you walk alongside them, you can also check out all the elaborate temples in the area. Great place to see lots of Monkeys! 🙈🙉🙊 Loved the statues and carvings, forest itself and the Temple. It can be very busy though...but the place is big enough to find quieter corner. We had the most fun here today exploring this jungle like temple place with several different monkey families living freely. Must visit for once.👍🏻

In addition to being a perfect forest for innocent tourists who see a monkey up close for the first time in their lives, it is also one of the most comprehensive monkey forests that can be visited in Bali. If you want to see every part of it from start to finish, it will take 45 minutes. Monkeys did not seem very dangerous to me, but despite everything, we should be careful. While countless monkeys, large and small, continue to live in their natural habitat everywhere I pass, as tourists we should not disturb them and take photos from a little further away. The monkeys are fed by the staff, which is nice. Be careful with your bags, one of the monkeys I approached focused on my bag and I immediately moved away from the situation. Finally, do not forget to visit the temple and enjoy the beautiful nature.

Monkey Forest is the perfect attraction for all ages and a respite from the heat. You can spend a long time watching the monkeys play with each other. The park itself is beautiful. There are amazingly detailed statues everywhere. The monkeys are great just follow the rules. Don't make eye contact and carry your belongings tight. There are many ancient banyan trees. You may only need a couple hours at most to see everything. Definitely a place to see if you're in Ubud.

It was a good experience! The monkeys are “free” Be cautious and follow the rules because they bite. Avoid bringing shiny things or valuables like jewelry. They also like plastic bottles and food so don’t bring any with you if you don’t want to be mobbed. There are ramps for wheelchairs but not everywhere. I appreciate how some of the walkways in the edges of the stairs are painted bright yellow for safety precautions. It is also well maintained. There are many cleaners. And there are “guards” who have slingshots in case the monkeys try to do anything naughty. You can have pictures with monkeys just ask help from the “guards” around. Do not approach baby monkeys because mothers are protective. Make sure you get a map from the information center especially if you easily get lost. I hope there are more lights in the tunnel next time.

There's a reason why this place is one of the most visited attractions in Bali. It's great fun, the staff are good and the monkeys are amazing. They can appear slightly scary at first but keep calm and don't look at them in the eyes. I'd recommend coming early in the morning to avoid any crowds, and enjoy an hour or so observing the amusing creatures.

Extraordinary experience we had in this monkey forest in the heart of Ubud. The tickets are cheap, and the place is easily accessible by taxis. The monkeys are not that aggressive, but you have to careful with them. And rule number one: take off sunglasses, and other accessories which could be easily stolen from you. The forest is much bigger than I expected. We were walking around for an hour and half. Every recommendation for the tourists.

Must visit destination when you are in Ubud. The most important part is to bring few and simple things. We bring water bottle but got warning from entrance staff. Another tips is don't panic if a monkey jump at you! I did feel afraid but managed to walk slowly and then the monkey retreat by itself. He want to steal my bucket hat😂 I must say, the forest is amazing, the experience of walking by a group of monkey is astonishing but in the same time breathtaking. You can ask the staff there to take you a picture, like selfie monkey one :) entrance fee 50k, kids under 100cm still not charged.

This is my favourite place in Bali. You can spend hours watching the monkeys play with each other and eat and be entertaining. The park itself is beautiful. There are amazingly detailed statues everywhere and the walking paths create a stunning park. The monkeys are great just follow the rules. Don't make eye contact for long periods if time, don't open your mouth at them. Carry your belongings tight and don't grab or squeeze the poor monkeys. You don't want to get bit and spend weeks getting rabies shots. The best time to go for photos is around 4 pm when they are fed.

Breathtaking… and also slightly terrifying. Its a one of a kind experience to see so many monkeys roaming free in a jungle in the middle of a city. But, because it’s in the middle of the city the monkeys are not afraid of humans and will attack you if you have something they want like food, water, sunglasses etc.!

Good place to spend couple of hours. It's very nice to walk around the monkeys. Not only you see monkeys, but also you could see the architecture of the buildings, sculptures, nature, temples. Be careful if you feed the monkeys, sometimes they can be aggressive. Monkeys may take your camera or phone. Recommend to go early morning, it will be less crowded and you can take good photos.

Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a nice place to go to see some monkeys. But really this sanctuary is more about the forest and temple inside. The monkeys are an amusement. It's the ancient banyan trees with their flowing roots traversing the landscape and hugging the temple that really make this place worth the visit. You may only need a couple hours at most to see everything. Definitely a place to see if you're in Ubud.

Wonderful experience. A nice place to explore. The temples and statues are interesting to see, alongside the main attraction, the monkeys! We visited on a Saturday afternoon at 4PM. I thought it might be busy with tourists, but it wasn’t too bad. As time went on the place became quieter. We walked around the whole complex and saw so many monkeys. Incredible. We had no issues with the monkeys. After reading reviews I didn’t take any loose items (water, sunglasses, jewellery); we were not bothered by them. I carried my phone and my husband had a bum bag. We kept our distance from the monkeys and respected them in their habitat. Read and follow the rules and you’ll have a great time. 🙏 Such a lovely place, suitable for the whole family.

Monkey forest, furry thieves hunt here) They steal everything that is not right or weighs. Feeding them cookies is cute. The place is interesting, we were in the very heat of January) It's cool and crowded. A lot of positives from monkeys. It is advisable not to iron them, let them crawl over you, the main thing is not to touch the cubs.

A very nice and clean monkey forest in the middle of Ubud. It's very serene and calm as it's full of tall old trees, growing around a small river. There are statues everywhere, covered in green moss. You can also see a few temples and a cemetery (for the people in that village) within the monkey forest. There are a lot of cute monkeys to see. Just remember not to disturb them. The monkeys here are pretty friendly though, not as aggressive as the ones in Sangeh.

The sacred monkey forest has definitely evolved over the years, it is now run fully as a paid entry park. Although the entry fee is a little steep, you will no longer be hassled to buy extra’s once inside. This is now a fully dedicated preserve for over 1,000 monkeys. There are many areas to explore and view Monkeys doing all sorts of activities. Our driver was able to skip the line for us to enter quicker 😬

It was such a fun and unique experience. The forest is home to hundreds of playful monkeys that are not shy about interacting with visitors. It was amazing to see them up close and watch them go about their daily routines. The forest itself is beautiful, with tall trees and serene paths. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to feed the monkeys, which was an unforgettable experience. However, it's important to be cautious and follow the rules to ensure your safety and the safety of the monkeys.

You cannot come to Ubud and not come here. Loved it. Amazing to see the 5 groups in their huge habitat. They are loving life, that is for sure. I am someone who would never visit a zoo so if you are concerned these are mistreated or just used for public, please don't be

It is quite big park. Yes it is arranged, man made but you still feel the lush jungle. If you wish you can get monkeys over your shoulde or head. The beauty of monkey forest is that those monkeys are living pretty much the same environment as they would have in the wild.

Great place in the heart of Ubud surrounded by lush green trees and nature. Great way to spend quality time close to nature and wildlife. Be cautious not to carry food inside with you else monkeys will try to snatch things from you. There are helpers and care takers around the monkeys but just be careful. Don't disturb the monkeys and they won't disturb you. At the entrance there are boards that say don't feed or touch monkeys however inside there are multiple stalls that charge money in the name of donations to get you a selfie with monkeys. Biggest hypocrisy ever seen

What a cool place to visit and explore. A mix of monkeys and Hindu "temple culture" made for a couple hours of interesting exploring. The monkeys delight with their personalities and playful antics and set in the jungle it's the perfect mix of being a controlled environment with just a little feel of the wild. Keep your belongings close!

I've never walked among so many monkeys before in my life. It's really an interesting and beautiful place. Once you take heed and follow the instructions, there is nothing to worry about. The hardest one to follow for me, was to not look into the eyes of the monkey. There are so many that I had to keep diverting my gaze quickly when my eyes meet one. A very good experience and I would do it again.

(Translated by Google) There are a lot of wild monkeys that can take water, food, glasses from you and take off the girl's earrings. Therefore, here you must always be on the lookout. The place is beautiful and mesmerizing in that among the ancient buildings overgrown with plants, the owners of these forests - monkeys - feel very at ease. They are constantly fighting among themselves, with a pronounced superiority of the alpha male, who always takes food first and takes water from others. You can feed, but very carefully, as they will take everything!

Monkeys here are most welcome to human than any other forest monkey Bali has. They're not naughty at all...as long as you follow the rule for what's not to bring inside the forest. A guide will help you to tell you history of a place, take photos and get monkey closer with no standard rate to pay them.

Love this place so much, clean area either for monkeys or visitors. Super greenery area you have to visit in Bali. Plus stars from my review for their fresh air and friendly guides. Don't worry when you come alone, the guide will be warmly welcoming you and guide you to have best spots inside. Don't worry about the monkeys, as long as you don't look at in their eyes. Using mobile is safe in this area, but never ever bring food or drink outside your bag. Overall, I will be back again and won't get bored of it. Love Ubud, and the monkey forest. Disclaimer : My pic with the monkey happened safely, no one get hurts on this pic. They have soft paws on my face. So don't worry guys 😉

I thought the experience was Unforgettable. The grounds are impeccable, the staff friendly and knowledgeable. The monkeys of course are a joy. They appear to be well taken care of, well fed, and photographed frequently. I loved that if I asked a staff member a question they answered it without hesitation and you could tell that a relationship develops between certain staff and certain monkeys. I saw the show in the theater which was well made as well. I went on a Sunday and it was my understanding the tickets were supposed to be 80k, but when I arrived we were told that on weekends or Sundays the tickets are 100k. I thought that the experience was worth it and would do it again.

Fun experience here, our driver gave great descriptions of the history and stories of the statues. Monkeys can get a bit too friendly if you don't mind the rules. Keep water and food out of sight and don't make eye contact while close enough to get jumped on. Ask the guard in the first section to help with a monkey selfie and enjoy the beautiful forest and sights.

A lovely sanctuary for the Balinese long-tailed macaque. The forest itself is breathtaking, I could have spent all day in there just getting lost amongst the lush foliage and huge trees. We were lucky to witness many babies, they were gorgeous. I paid the extra money to be able to hold one of the adult monkeys, it was a pretty awesome experience, that monkey was so sweet.

This place is a must visit when you're in Ubud. It was the highlight of the trip. Purchasing tickets was super easy and fast for us. There were plenty of people there but it's a big place so it didn't feel too crowded. The monkeys are amazing to look at. The human expressions and how they use their hands makes it so easy to see how they're our distant cousins. There were plenty of staff around to assist in most places and there was a fun addition 'monkey selfie' you can pay 50k for which is worth it for great pics and getting even closer to a monkey. When they yawn or bare their teeth you can see their huge sharp teeth which is a reminder to show them respect. So long as you follow the very clearly marked rules you should be fine, but be prepared for some monkeys to try and get close or even on you. It's fine as long as you stand up and encourage them to get off quickly. We were there for a good few hours and it was such a wonderful experience. We saw two people get bit by the monkeys but they were not following the rules and were getting a bit too close to them. Even just the grounds are a wonderful thing to see. So beautifully kept and adorned with many old looking statues and shrines. Would recommend to everyone to do this when in Ubud!

The Sacred Monkey Forest in Bali is nothing short of a thrilling jungle adventure that immerses you in a realm where nature, spirituality, and mischievous monkeys converge. From the moment you step into this enchanting sanctuary, you are greeted by the lively chatter of long-tailed macaques and the lush, vibrant foliage that forms the backdrop to this captivating experience. Walking through the ancient moss-covered stone entrance feels like stepping into a mystical realm where centuries-old temples stand in harmony with the playful antics of the resident monkeys. The air is filled with an electric energy, a palpable fusion of the sacred and the wild. The monkeys, considered sacred guardians of the forest, are the true stars of this show. Their cheeky antics, acrobatic displays, and curious nature create an atmosphere of constant excitement. From adorable infants clinging to their mothers to mischievous adolescents engaging in playful games, every corner of the forest is alive with the dynamic energy of these captivating creatures. Interacting with the monkeys adds an element of unpredictability to the experience. Whether they're gently accepting a banana from your hand or demonstrating their agility by leaping from branch to branch, each encounter is a unique and exhilarating moment. It's a delightful dance of coexistence between humans and primates, set against the backdrop of ancient mossy temples and towering banyan trees. The forest itself is a work of art, a carefully preserved ecosystem that invites exploration. The pathways wind through dense foliage, revealing hidden shrines, moss-covered statues, and tranquil streams. The ambient sounds of rustling leaves and distant monkey calls create a symphony that accompanies your journey through this natural wonderland. The sacred temples within the forest add a layer of cultural richness to the experience. The intricate stone carvings and ancient architecture transport you back in time, offering a glimpse into Bali's spiritual heritage. The juxtaposition of the sacred and the untamed creates a harmonious balance that is both awe-inspiring and invigorating. In conclusion, the Sacred Monkey Forest in Bali is not just a tourist attraction; it's a thrilling escapade into a world where nature and spirituality intertwine. The mischievous monkeys, ancient temples, and lush greenery combine to create an experience that is as exhilarating as it is enchanting. If you're seeking adventure, cultural immersion, and a touch of wildlife magic, the Sacred Monkey Forest is a must-visit destination that promises a journey like no other.

Ubud Monkey Forest in Bali is an awesome place where you can hang out with hundreds of cool monkeys! It's open every day from 9 AM to 6 PM, but make sure you get your tickets by 5 PM. Adults ticket is 80k on weekdays and 100k on weekends, and it's cheaper for kids. This place is not just about monkeys; it's got these old Hindu temples surrounded by amazing greenery. But yes, the monkeys are the main stars – they're super playful and might even snatch your sunglasses! So, keep your stuff safe and try not to feed them, as it can make them a bit too excited. If you're planning to visit the temple areas, wearing a sarong and scarf is a good idea.

By far one of the coolest natural monkey forest. I question why there are not more monkeys spread out in the larger general area. The answer is food, the locals feed the monkeys daily so they don’t need to go far. If your in Ubud go to the Sacred Monkey forest.

Fun, close look of the monkeys. Do not bring anything more then the basics; especially no water and food. The monkeys will take it from you. They do feedings at different times and location, which will help you see them more closely. They will run right across and over you so be mindful. Sometimes they are sitting in the middle of the walking path so keep your eyes open.

The Sacred Monkey Forest should be on your list to visit in Ubud, Bali. This place is one of the most popular stops among tourists. There are many Hindu temples inside it. You must avoid bringing any shiny things here, as monkeys will undoubtedly try to snatch those. You'll need at least 90 minutes to finish your tour to Sacred Monkey Forest.

One of the must visits at Ubud. The place is quite serene, especially in the mornings. There are a couple of temples, but entry is restricted only for those who are there to worship. Do be mindful of your belongings as the monkeys here are quite smart and can grab onto loose items from your bags, such as water bottles. Avoid carrying shopping bags / tote bags with wide opening, as the monkeys can rummage through the items if left unattended.

Being from India, monkeys aren't really a tourist attraction for me, but I would still recommend a visit to the monkey forest. We visited during the rains, dense cover of trees, multiple shades of green, with amazing architecture and statues and a river! All this in the middle of the city! Such serene calm place. The staff is super friendly. Don't bother the monkeys.

Absolutely gorgeous forest with beautiful ornate statues and plenty of monkeys. We found the monkeys to be very respectful and used to people, just follow the rules and don't get too close. There were lots of babies which were so cute! The statues and carvings are really ornate like much of Balinese architecture. It was so magical we felt like we were transported into a movie set. Must do if you're in Bali!

I went with my girlfriend, is a good place to have a walk and enjoy nature and traditional architecture and sculptures. You will see many temples, but only if you are going to pray you will allow to enter and for praying you need to book in advanced. So you won't be able to get into the temples. You can still enjoy the view and the park and contemplate the temples from the outside. The park is called monkey forest so get ready to see plenty of them, nonetheless, you should respect the monkeys since they are still wild animals. There's is a small coffee shop it has a gate outside so monkeys don't get in, I could say that's the only place monkey free from the park. They have ice cream coffee and soft drinks. It's really worth it.

This place feels like a paradise within a city. You forget it's actually in the centre of Ubud. The monkeys walk around freely and you shouldn't interact with them but just observe them from a distance. The temples placed inside are also very interesting to see. The tickets were 100.000 per person (July 2023) for foreigners. Although I think it's definitely worth it.

Best places and experience I had in Bali. Yes, you MUST respect the rules, respect the animals, keep calm if they jump on you, or take stuff from you, observe them from a safe distance, you can still enjoy the park. Of course sometimes I got scared when some of the monkeys jumped on my backpack and took stuff out, but if you don’t scream, move slow and don’t panic, they leave you alone. If you go in places like this you have to remember that you pay to observe, not to do anything you want. I felt that the monkeys were in good health and happy there, I never had the feeling there was any kind if exploitation. I had a good and unique time.

I love the monkey forest. I've been here a few times over the years. Monkeys are given food by staff in various places that get them to come sit on the side walks and eat. This gives you a better chance of seeing them up close. That said, don't touch the monkeys. Dont be a stupid tourist. Don't try to make them angry. Monkeys can rip your arm off like a celery stalk, and don't have empathy like humans. Best to be nice, polite and respectful to these jungle animals. They're not pets. The mixture of nature and temples here has always astounded me and though there are a lot more people here than there used to be, I'm still very much at peace wandering around the temples.

Great park. You feel safe while you roam around the park with various monkeys going about their business. The grounds are cared for and manicured well with nutritious food for the monkeys. We were able to take pictures safely and without issues around many different baby and adult monkeys.

Step into the enchanting realm of the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud, Bali, where nature, spirituality, and mischievous monkeys come together in a symphony of awe-inspiring beauty. As you walk through the towering ancient trees and meandering pathways, a sense of tranquility washes over you, carrying you into a world where humans and wildlife coexist in perfect harmony. The sanctuary is a verdant paradise, a sanctuary for the soul. The air is heavy with the scent of tropical blooms, their vibrant colors punctuating the lush greenery that surrounds you. Sunlight dances through the canopy, casting ethereal rays upon the moss-covered stones and the gentle streams that wind their way through the forest. It's a place that seems untouched by time, where ancient spirits whisper secrets into the breeze, and the serenade of chirping birds becomes a melodic backdrop to your journey. But what truly makes this sanctuary come alive are its inhabitants – the sacred monkeys that call this sanctuary their home. As mischievous as they are revered, these long-tailed macaques dart through the treetops with an elegance that belies their playful nature. With their expressive eyes and agile movements, they captivate your attention, drawing you into their world. Approach the monkeys with respect and an open heart, and you'll be rewarded with delightful encounters. They may scamper down from their leafy perches, their nimble fingers reaching out for an offering of bananas or peanuts. As you extend your hand, the monkeys display their intelligence, gently plucking the treat from your palm or even engaging in a cheeky game of hide-and-seek, whisking it away before your eyes. Their antics are a reminder of the shared curiosity and mischievousness that unites humans and animals. But beyond their playful demeanor, the monkeys hold a sacred place in Balinese culture. They are considered guardians of the forest, messengers of the gods. Locals believe that their presence brings blessings and harmony to the land. Watching them interact with each other, you witness a microcosm of a society, a complex web of social interactions, hierarchies, and familial bonds. It's a reminder that nature, like humanity, thrives on connections and relationships. As you wander deeper into the sanctuary, you stumble upon ancient temples adorned with intricate carvings and adorned with vibrant offerings. These sacred spaces are where the spiritual and natural worlds intertwine. Take a moment to sit in silence, to soak in the energy that permeates the air. The sound of chanting drifts from nearby ceremonies, and the scent of incense dances with the breeze. Here, amidst the towering trees and sacred statues, you can feel the pulse of Bali's spiritual heartbeat. The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is not just a place to observe nature; it's an invitation to reconnect with our own primal selves, to witness the beauty and wisdom that exist beyond the concrete jungles we inhabit. It's a place to reflect, to find solace in the presence of creatures that remind us of our shared ancestry, and to discover the magic that lies within the natural world. So, my friends, if ever you find yourself in the mystical town of Ubud, do not miss the opportunity to lose yourself in the embrace of the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. Allow the serenity of the forest, the mischievousness of the monkeys, and the spiritual energy to envelop you. And in this sacred haven, may you discover a deeper connection to both nature and yourself, leaving with a heart full of wonder and a renewed appreciation for the fragile beauty of our planet.

It is very inexpensive and definitely worth your time and your money. Yes, you can see the monkeys from out on the street, but wandering through the sanctuary is such a joy. Beautiful green, lush, landscaping, and of course the monkeys are thrilling. They warn you to not panic if the monkeys get aggressive, and, as others have advised, it's best to not carry anything that will attract their attention and make them want to take it. I wore my backpack on my front just to be careful.

We loved Monkey Forest, it was quite unique to see monkey's roaming around freely - kids absolutely loved it, and others also had a great time. The terrain has been built beautifully, almost as if we were inside the movie Jungle Book. There's a lot of walking to be done, takes an hour or two to cover the entire place, so would recommend going in either in morning or evening hours - afternoons might feel a bit hot. One of the top places to visit if you are in Bali.

Lovely walk through the jungle with hundreds if not thousands of playful monkeys who'd love to take your stuff. Keep your distance, avoid eye contact, and keep your phone and valuables in your bag. The moss covered statues make for great pictures, and the sunlight filtering through the trees make this a great spot for portraiture throughout the day. Don't forget to buy tickets at the entrance. Also, stay well hydrated as it can get quite humid. There are some cafes to grab a coffee but don't drink the water at the many fountains - these are for the monkeys!

Nice place to visit walk around and enjoy. Do not bring outside food to feed the monkeys as it is prohibited. There are plenty of chances where the staff wait with food and even take your picture with monkeys if you wish. Be respectful and you will have a great time walking and enjoying.

Nestled in the heart of Ubud, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is more than just a wildlife park; it's a spiritual and cultural experience. As you step into the lush jungle, you're greeted by hundreds of macaque monkeys swinging through the trees, playing amongst ancient temples, and basking in the dappled sunlight. The forest itself is a sight to behold. Towering banyan trees, moss-covered statues, and winding pathways create a mystical atmosphere. The air is filled with the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves, making you feel like you've stepped into another world

Amazing place...this much better than Sangeh (another monkey sanctuary in Bali). As long you follow the do's and don't there, you will be safe there. There are guards in several points location to prevent "bad monkeys" doing wild things to visitor, so visitors mostly are protected while inside the forest. Wonderful place 👍🏻👍🏻

This was one of my favorite places to visit in Ubud. I was amazed on how many monkeys we saw there. I wouldn’t recommend bring a backpack or anything that is valuable. The monkeys can unzip or take your belongings with ease. It’s a most if you are in Ubud to visit.

We came here with our guide and he was very informative. He had told us that money forest was built as a way to keep the monkeys safe while still able to roam free. They are fed every day in various locations of the park so prevent them from going into the city and finding food. I really like how you can walk amongst them as they are going about their day. You are told not to look at the directly in the eyes and not to engage with them however most local guides know their behaviours well and can usually get the monkeys to interact with you safely

I keep returning to the Sacred Monkey Forest because I enjoy the experience. Anytime my friends visit Bali for the first time, I always bring them here. If you follow the guidelines, you’ll have a positive memorable experience. Please be respectful of rules regarding animals. This is not a zoo, it’s a protected area for a variety of monkey’s in the Macaque and Langur families. These Monkeys are not aggressive by nature, but they are extremely curious about the creatures that walk through their home. They will interact with you if you seem curious as well. Do not initiate contact with the monkeys; allow local staff to assist in showing you how to feed them bananas. I advise to leave bags, purses, sunglasses, water bottles and hats in the car or someplace outside the entrance. Monkeys are smart.. they can open snaps and zippers, so keep this in mind BEFORE you go inside. I love the Sacred Monkey Forest, and I will continue to bring new people to share the great experience. I highly recommend at least one visit.

Inside the Sacred Monkey Forest, you will find Hindu temples, even a gallery, canteen, deer enclosure, first aid center. Down from the temple is a bathing pool, it was fun to watch the monkeys swing into the water and splash. Many of the monkeys in this temple are very tame because they have been around humans their whole lives and are comfortable interacting with people on a daily basis, but you still need to be careful do not bring anything with you that you don’t want to lose because sometimes the monkey try to pull off your earrings or sunglasses, thinking it’s food or something fun. Overall we enjoyed our visit.

Always like to see funny monkey behavior, the place is clean and authentic, lots of photo spots in here, it has spacious parking, and clean toilets are at the receptionist. Make sure you go around this area with a guide, things that should not be done here are 1. Bring plastic because monkeys always assume that in plastic there must be food. 2. Avoid looking at each other with monkeys. 3. You should minimize your defaults because they can become targets for monkeys to steal. 4. Hold on tight to your cellphone because today's monkeys are good at selfies 😁

This is a forest of monkeys! It was a very funny experience. Thousands of monkeys have a home here. You can see them up close and feed them. In some parts they sell bananas that you can buy and give to the monkeys. There are many sculptures in this forest that you will not see in other parts of Bali. This place is a few minutes walk from the center of Abud.

Wonderful place. The monkeys are not aggressive but very curios. Better to keep all the shinny stuff in your bag. The territory is big and there are around 600 monkeys living in their natural habitat. They are used to people but better not to provoke them. The staff of the forest is extremely nice and helpful. Worth visiting for sure!

It is a must see in Ubud, sure there are crowds and the monkeys are nuts (I lost a tug of war with one for my water bottle), but the temple is great fun. Must visit when you are in Bali whether you are traveling solo or with friends/family. Big beautiful forest area to observe adorable monkeys walk, swing, or just playing with their mates around you. If you are lucky, they will sitting on your shoulder - keep remain calm. If you are not sure, keep phone, glasses, anything bling inside your bag. Wear comfortable shoes / sandals to walk all around the areas. Whenever possible come in the morning to avoid crowds. In April 2022, estimates there are around 2200 monkeys there. The guides in the sites are friendly and helpful. 100% recommended.

I had a blast! Not for you if you don’t like monkeys or surprises, they’re simply unpredictable. Read the recommendations at the entrance, they’re actually super useful on how to interact and behave around the monkeys. They will definitely try to take your stuff if given the chance! Beautiful natural scenery and statues.

Such a great experience, would definitely give it a go if your thinking about it. Relatively safe, however, not for free hanging non-secure items (glasses, small bags, etc). The sheer size of the grounds is impressive, and the rest is to be expected. At times, you can feed the monkeys by hand, wouldn't try without the park staff to assist. The monkeys can get rather angry quickly, and avoid looking at them in the eyes.....

This is a must stop if you are within driving distance. Affordable and easy to spend an hour or two. With memories that will last you a lifetime. Tons of photo opportunities. I gone twice while in Ubud. Do not keep anything loose in your pockets. The monkeys are known to run off with anything they can get their hands on and will actually search your pockets if you sit long enough. If you bring children remind them to not stare down the monkeys. Read the signs and follow them. Not more than 15 ft within the entrance. A young boy ignored his parents warnings twice and was jumped on by a monkey. Staff were quick to respond and scared the monkey off. Boy was screaming and crying as they escorted him and the parents out of the park. That was the only incident I witnessed in the 2 hours that I was inside the park.

The Sacred Monkey Forest is a wonderful experience with beautiful grounds, and monkeys everywhere. And it's so well spread out that even with thousands of other tourists it still never feels crowded. A great spot for people of all ages, with the trees and surrounds every bit as good an attraction as the monkeys. Most tours will take you here, but it's an easy walk, or drive from most places in Ubud. You can pay extra to feed the monkeys 0r pose with them, or just pay the entry and wander around at will.

A beautiful area with a nice path thru a forest, with several temple areas and public spaces. Also a cafe! The monkeys aren’t so much a danger but the guests could be— saw people offer food, let monkeys crawl on them unsupervised, crowd around monkeys taking photos, etc. All things you’re not supposed to do! There are staff members trying to keep things under control, luckily.

  • 5/5 Nilesh U. 10 months ago on Google
Loved this place, monkeys are funny but be careful of them. If you don’t irritate them then won’t bother you. Kids need to be careful of them and their belonging. The forest is a delight to roam around. The topical rain forest near the town of ubud is fascinating to witness. Sometimes the monkeys go out of the forest to the town and shops but the come back as they have abundant food and shelter here. You need 2 hours if you want to leisure around in the forest.

Great place to experience being amongst monkeys. Keep belongings zipped away and hold onto your things tight! They are super quick and will snatch and attempt to bargain if you want your belongings back. Grounds are kept clean and the guards keep everyone and the monkeys safe. Get here early!! It gets very busy and you can properly enjoy it when the sun isn't at the highest. You can easily spend a couple of hours here.

Within the first 10 minutes of walking in the forest, a monkey jumped on my back, unzipped my backpack, un-clipped a small satchel containing a rain cover and ran off with it 😅 The monkeys certainly live up to their reputation, so be wary if you decide to bring a backpack or bag (I recommend don’t!). I spent a few hours wandering around the forest and enjoyed the afternoon performance. I can definitely recommend coming here either in the early morning or late afternoon, as I did.

😍😍 the place is a beauty!! love seeing monkey doing their own thing🐒🦧🌳!!! also an unexpectedly humbling experience with how similar they (monkes) are to us😅 also loved the structures such as mini caves, bridges, temples, idols among others scaterred along the area😅 but i specially liked the walk throughout the forest🌳🎋it's calming. i can't wait to go back!!!!💚🤎

We had visited the monkey forest in the morning during the week, before the large number of tourists streamed into the park in the noon - I would also recommend this to everyone. Thus, we could enjoy the facility and the monkeys much quieter. The entrance fee was 80k rupees per person. The monkeys were very accustomed to the visitors and less cheeky or pushy than I would have expected based on some reviews here. But maybe that was just because the monkeys are less hyper in the morning 😊 The park is very shady because of the many trees and the climate is pleasant.

Great place, the forest itself is very beautiful with so many lush tropical plants. There are loads of monkeys (obviously!), from big grizzled males to teeny tiny babies clinging to their mums. The wooden bridge has spectacular views of a huge, ancient tree. It's not such a place, we spent roughly 1hr there but it was pouring with rain, could potentially spend 1.5 to 2hrs there if you sit and chill and watch the monkeys. The staff are very friendly and clearly care for the monkeys a lot. I saw staff stop people who were getting too close or trying to pet the monkeys, which is good.

I absolutely loved it from the start to end. There were so many monkeys with beautiful settings. As soon as you walk in you are introduced by bunch of monkeys and it literally just remains the same through out. The monkeys can get aggressive if you stare at them into their eyes so try not to give them eye contact. If you want to take pictures with them then you can either get a person working there help you (with a charge) or just sit near them and they might jump on you. Make sure you keep everything away in your pockets or bags as they will grab your stuff and will chew it up. It's definitely worth a trip and really fun.

Ok only going to review once for the same place with different names … but if you are in this general vicinity and there is a Monkey in the name, it’s the right place. Awesome for seeing different temples in nature, plus they do some dancing on the weekends. Monkeys are pretty tame and no need to be afraid. Guides available and good facilities. Highly recommend!

Wasn’t overly busy when we went at 09:00 on a week day and will save you 20K per person. Very beautiful forest with lots to snap pictures of. Monkeys are definitely wild and will grab your bottles or anything else you have hanging around and leave them on the side of the mountain so please don’t be one of the people that think they know better than to follow the rules. Let’s do our best as guests to preserve the natural environment for these monkeys.

pretty cool spot with lots of monkeys to see of course. spent about 2 hours or so wandering around looking at the lil fellas fighting and playing. it costs 80k i think, and is well worth the money as a flora and fauna experience. try to go in the morning when there are less tourists about and you can meander to your hearts content.

Simply brilliant! Immediately after you enter, there are monkeys in every direction. The location itself is easily walkable, and the trees provide much needed shade and cooler temperatures than surrounding areas. The Temples are beautiful, and the details of the masonry and carvings are exquisite. It's around 100k IDR entry or $5-6 USD and well worth the visit. It's best to always follow the guidelines and avoid bringing food or drinks not stowed away in backpacks, as the monkeys will try to take them.

The Monkey Forest is a pretty cool spot, mixing nature and monkey vibes. The price is 100K per person, kids 80k. The paths are nice, you can see monkeys up close, and there are signs explaining stuff. They keep it safe too. They do these talks about monkeys and conservation, which is interesting. The whole place is chill, with leaves rustling and monkeys doing their thing. Food spots are decent too. It would have been nice if the fish had some plants in the water, now its kinda said for them. Just a heads up, avoid the super busy days and check the weather. Monkey traffic and rain aren't fun. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed day with some monkeys. Worth checking out. 🐒👍

Nice experience but as a casual stroll. Even if there have been signs to not get close to monkeys some people were encouraging them to hop on their back. In case of a scratch or bite you would need to go immediately to a hospital so if you're up for additional trip you can try apparently. Best to keep your belongings close to you as monkeys like to snatch some small "souvenirs " of your visit. Beautiful statues and lots of greenery. There are few gift shops inside on outer path- but they offer same stuff as any shop out of Monkey Forest. According to Data board in the square there are dozens of group and the whole population of the forest is over 1200.

Initially I wasn’t going to visit this place as I had an impression that the place would be smelly or dirty and the monkeys could act aggressively. However it wasn’t the case when we were there and the monkeys were actually super chill and adorable. They do not approach us unless we’re carrying a plastic bag or any sort of food and you can observe them as if we are now one of them in this community. The entire place is well kept by the workers and they’re all professional. The only dirty thing I saw while there was the foreigners/ tourists throwing garbage everywhere and I was so confused why some people would go to places like this and still act like they didn’t go abroad for the beautiful nature. I was disappointed to actually see with my eyes that the monkeys are better behaved than us humans

Opens at 9am, we got there a bit early but there are loads of cafes around the area to go and get food before or after. When we got there at 9 on a weekday it was already pretty busy and was busier as we left. The sanctuary costs 80k to go in which is good value as you could spend an hour or two there. There's loads of monkeys everywhere, they're all comfortable around people. No one in my group got jumped on and we could take photos without the monkeys grabbing at our phones. There's also an option where you can get one of the people working there to take a monkey selfie for 50k which looked cool.

Just wonderful place, lots of big trees, nice walks around all the place. So many monkeys just chilling in they’re place. Loved it , cost 80k, takes about 1-2 hours to see it all, but shouldn’t be rushed enjoy the place!

I loved this place. Spent hours wandering around and enjoying the monkeys. We took the bare minimum of things with us and had no trouble with the monkeys. One girl had a toy taken from a pocket. Amazingly, her mother was able to convince the monkey to return it. The only downside was a group of young guys causing trouble by touching the monkeys and offering them beer. One of the Rangers offered them a full refund to leave. People like this give tourists a bad name and spoil the experience for everyone else.

I had such a great time however it’s very crowded due to all the tourists. I did have lots of fun watching the monkeys eat and have an amazing time. The monkeys are not aggressive so this is a good thing.

We spent a few hours here in the afternoon and it was stunning! As the title depicts, it is a forest setting with free roaming monkeys! It's is incredible and I am so glad we went! Admission is really reasonable, and the money assists the upkeep and running of the reserve. The monkeys are adorable and cheeky. They aren't phased by the number of people around but give them their space also. However if you have food or drink, they will come and assume it is for them. Best leave those snacks at home or in a bag. There are also many sacred sites around the lot, many of them containing temple scriptures which are stunning, but off limits to those who are not there for prayer. If you are in the area, be sure to stop in!
