This place is awesome. As soon as we got there the owner bought us a couple of shots and welcomed us to the hostel. The beds are a fair size and are comfortable. Their restaurant is very tasty, the staff is hilarious and always has a smile on their face, the service is very prompt and the place has not 1 but 2 pools. All that for 150 a night. Definitely a place I would stay again. They also have surf lessons and has a way of attracting attractive travelers. Would recommend if looking to have a good time in Caangu

Overall a good place to stay. Staff are energetic and always willing to help with any issues. Rooms are basic and tidied every morning. Very good location, very close to cafes/bars/restaurants and supermarkets. Beach is a 30 minute walk or a 4 minute bike ride/ taxi. It is a very social/party hostel so if you’re looking for peace and quiet then this isn’t the place for you. Be prepared for people coming into the room early hours in the morning. Music is off at 11pm. If you’re solo travelling and want good vibes and music while getting to meet new people then this is perfect place.

I've stayed at Layday many occasions on multiple trips to Bali, the owners and staff make the hostel even better than it already is. It's a party hostel so if you are wanting a peaceful time you could still stay here by booking a bed in the villas what has a private pool and is away from the bar. Can't wait to return!

Stayed in a 6 bed room with a friend and it was one of the best shared room experiences I have ever had. Not only was the room itself clean and comfortable, but the pool and bar area were right outside of our door. We wish we stayed more than two nights, we loved staying here so much! The coconut water served straight from the coconut with a straw was a refreshing and relaxing treat by the pool! It was also very relaxed and no guests were too loud or rowdy. If I wasn't aging out of the hostel age, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!!

I felt like you are only welcomed if your face fits. When I was there it was only social if you was in the group of people that knew each other, if not no one was really bothered about speaking to you or making you feel welcome. Wasn’t even sure who the reps were but this is meant to be their job to get people involved. Bed sheets were disgusting and stained.

Very good place to meet new people and perfect as a party hostel. With scooter its 10 minutes to the beach. The food is really bad though and the staff of the restaurant aren't nice so rather go somewhere else to get food. If you have problem with noise get the deluxe rooms. You can still party but sleep in silence. There was no warm water though in the showers.

BEST STAY EVER! I am a solo traveler and I really hoped to meet new people during my dream holiday in Bali! I booked a private room in one if the villas the hostel has. The room was just perfect: cute, simple, clean. Hot water was always there, ac was working perfectly and the atmosphere in the villa was quiet and relaxing. But what made everything special was all the staff and the other guests in this hostel! Since I checked in I felt warmly welcomed! I remember, there was Gigi at the reception!:) Everytime I was coming back to the hostel and I was stopping by the bar, the staff was always ready to engage nice and fun conversations and made sure everyone was having a good time! I met so many new people in this hostel and at no stages I felt alone or bored! I had so much fun and every day I was looking forward to coming back to the hostel, get ready and meet everyone at the bar! The atmosphere was simply amazing, friendly, fun! I am definitely coming back next time I will be in Bali! So, solo travelers or not, just book your stay here and let the fun begin! You are going to love it and you will create so many beautiful memories! Thanks again Lay Day for the amazing vibes!

Staff are great with their energy. Warning that this is more party hostel type energy. Hence there is the usual messiness and noise that will accompany. We did get a blast of Bali belly from their ice coffee as well (only thing we had that morning, we got the symptoms on the way to lunch) so beware!

First of all I have to say I think I was the wrong person to stay there. It is really a party hostel! I thought that I could still get kind of sleep but that wasn’t really the case. The doors don’t shut and it’s dirty. I didn’t feel comfortable sleeping there.. maybe it’s better for people who are really into partying and drinking and more “easygoing” when it come to the bathroom and so..

The social area ist good, nice people and nice pool BUT the rooms are awful. They don’t seem clean to me, just when I arrived I needed to ask that they change my bed sheets, they did but the next ones didn’t seem very clean either. The bathroom needs renovations, The toilet seat seems like it never has been changed in the last 20 years, the water from the shower only comes out in drips. And I felt like my whole body was itching after I stayed the night in the bed. I booked 2 nights but I checked out the next morning. As expected they did not give me my money back because u need to cancel 24 before. Also they made excuses, like saying that they clean at 11 and they clean the bathroom twice a day and it’s not their fault that people bring sand and dirt in the room, but this was definitely not the problem. There is no basic hygiene. I would no go again. Even though the vibe in the common area is great it is not worth the room. Also it is 50 minutes walk away from to beach.

Had the absolute time of my life here at the LayDay! Jimmy, Erick, Gigi, Jack Sparrow, Alit, and Kadek all deserve special shoutouts for being so amazing and personal. Seriously felt like the staff were our friends and the connections were genuine, and this place was honestly just the best mad house I’ve ever come across. Hope to be back one day soon!

Lay day is the best hostel i’ve ever stayed at. The workers are the sweetest, the rooms are clean, and it’s a beautiful place to relax as well as party. If you stay in canggu stay here! You will regret it if you don’t. amazing place to meet people and great location

Amazing hostel to stay at and very social. The staff made you feel at home straight away and the room was super clean. Great location and near shops if you need water or basic necessities.

The bed was infested with bed bugs, and we found insects in two of the beds. The deluxe rooms had clear signs of this long-standing problem, with lots of dark spots on the pillows and mattress. However, the service was great, and if you're looking to party, you've come to the right place!

Very social hostel, easy to meet new people. If you down for a drink with others i would recommend 10/10.

I stayed at LAYDAY SURF HOSTEL and had an absolutely wonderful experience. They took care of us from the moment we arrived at the hostel, it made our experience extremely pleasurable . When we arrived the staff welcome us with a cheer (WELCOME TO LAYDAY)We were then brought to our room that was large, spacious and modern. Security and loyalty is nextlevel in this hostel we leave all your stuff On chairs or near the pool area and you will find your stuff overthere only . You have to visit their rooftop restaurant as well, as it is the most stunning view of the sunset and sometimes you have it to yourself as it's not too busy. I recommend this hotel enough I would come back in a heartbeat! Thanks to all the staff members deva funny jimmy dj all the members were outstanding very helpful and kind And A special thanks to BELLA❤️ for great hospitality And for making our stay wonderful Love you guys u doing it great LAYDAY❤️

Loved this hostel! It was very social and the location is great! The only thing I didn't love was the bed wasn't great compared to other hostels I have been.

The team is a blast. Highly recommend the private rooms, as they’re relatively quiet and spacious. A great party and a good way to make friends if you’re traveling solo

  • 2/5 Carolann L. 1 year ago on Google
My friends and I didn’t find the hostel very clean. I guess it’s ok for younger travellers that want to party and don’t mind the messiness that comes with it. No towels were provided, our bedroom was hot and we only had a sheet to cover ourselves + 1 pillow. Walls beside the bed and floors had doubtable sains and the bathroom was not very clean. We planned to stay 4 nights but proceeded to check out the very next day. Although I have to admit that the staff was nice and inviting in the few moments we encountered them. Would not recommend for 30+years old women that want to relax and be surrounded by nice aesthetics. Would recommend for young party travellers ONLY.

  • 5/5 Yusuf B. 1 year ago on Google
Honestly, it was beyond my expectations. But WARNING ⚠️ The hostel surely has high energy and I would consider it more on the Party side. So to meet people & party, it’s perfect! Aaalid and Erik are great staff too. Rooms are pretty good condition even the bathrooms. Plus there are two public swimming pools + one pool in our dorm side, waaaw 👏🏻

The area is central in town which is nice, but pretty far from the beach and if you plan on surfing early in the morning which is the only time its not crammed with other surfers then avoid this place because you won't get much sleep and then have to travel a bit far early the next day. Btw, pretty sure no one at this hostel actually surfs. On the flipside, its got a very rampant party vibe until 11pm when they close everything down for the night and everyone goes to other bars by the beach which they then drive back drunk because its so far away and stumble into the dorm room around 4 or 5am waking everyone else up. The drinks are expensive!! and disappointing. I felt pressured into buying drinks and they'd give you shots without asking and then ask for 50k. They gave out free shots occasionally (mostly for the challenges) but they were diluted with so much juice you could hardly call it alcoholic. Lastly, the dorms only have 1 bathroom to share with at least 6 people.. and the door didn't close all the way which was odd. However, the common areas are nice for hanging out, the workers are chill, and it was fun for a couple days. If they lowered the drink prices and added more bathrooms I'd give it a 4.

Great place if you’re looking for a party hostel, always lively by the front bar and pools. The upstairs restaurant also does pretty good food to soak up all your booze. Location is a pain if you’ve not got a scooter. Deluxe dorm at the back was more peaceful but is still pretty basic, remember padlocks.

Party scene hostel but it sleeps by 11pm. Great bar & vibe, good place to meet new people. Cafe on site is decent, best for breakfast. Good value overall, and a scooter rental is there, mini mart is there, and a great sushi restaurant across the street.

Loved my stay at LayDay. Stayed there twice during my trip to Bali and both times it was wonderful. Very clean rooms. But what made it so amazing were the staff and people. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Everyone is so friendly and fun. Can't wait to go back.

A great party hostel, beds are clean and changed daily, food is really nice and the people are super social and friendly. Just don't expect to get a lot of sleep, music goes off at 11pm but people come home at all hours (but kinda standard for a party hostel) bathroom could do with a deep clean but other than that it's great!

  • 4/5 Kiki M. 1 year ago on Google
It’s a very very busy hostel so if you like to party, you should definitely come here. The bathroom is not very clean tho and shower and toilet are not separated, there is only one bathroom in the room which is a bit annoying. The beds don’t have curtains and in general it’s not the best hostel regarding the facilities. If you want a nice but more chill hostel with nice beds, go check out Rhythm & Rumble

  • 1/5 Simona P. 1 year ago on Google
The hostel is super busy and crowded. If you're not in a mood for partying, don't book this property. So yeah, our fault. We booked an accommodation via hostelworld but after arriving stuff told us to cancel the reservation, asked hostelworld for refund, and pay it in cash. So we paid in cash and haven't received any payment yet. Bathroom in the room was terrible, almost didn't work. When we ask them to repair a toilet that was leaning all the time, and making noise, they just turned off water 😂 for 6 people in 1 room wwith 1 toilet. So we asked again, and they again didn't make it, and left it like this... Also,Wifi doesn't work properly.

This hostel is great, amazing if you want to party, but it has NOTHING to do with a surf hostel. Let’s be clear with clients and remove it from the name. It should be Lay day party hostel, period. Nobody’s surfing there. Apart from it, social and party part is the best. Waiters are incredible and the bar is really cool. Facilities too.

Great hostel, easy to get to clubs by local transport or your own. Rooms are cleaned and with AC, and staff was friendly and welcoming the whole time. Shout to Enrick, Gigi and Alit!. Thank you guys, that was fun. See you next year :)

Our favourite hostel in Canggu, we must’ve stayed here over 5 times now. The only negative is that the bathrooms don’t have very good ventilation so often smells

Rooms are super clean and comfy, staff are amazing, especially Alit P. However special mention to captain Jack, kadek, Alit A, Erick & Gigi. Stay here if you are in Canggu!

Number 1 hostel if you wanna have fun and party. Staff are super friendly and nice. Has swimming pools and a bar. People are super social and always hanging in the common areas. Bar bustles at 7pm. Go out clubbing together every night.

This hostel is honestly the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in in my whole life. The minute you walk into the hostel the staff make you feel so welcome! You will have the best time staying here! A big big shout out to Eric and GG 2 of the staff members who are so fun and make the party! They make the bar the best to drink at! I’ll miss these 2 for sure but I’ll be back to see them both! Also do the safari challenge it’s so fun and starts your night off on the best way! Will miss LayDay for sure! Lots of love, Vicky

Great atmosphere was very nice to meet other people as had been on an isolated island before we arrived. Bar is great as you can set up a tab, drinks aren’t the cheapest but that’s the same everywhere in Canngu. Rooms were good, if recommend getting a bottom bunk as the top is quite shaky. Would like to return sometime soon. Also the staff love playing beer pong so be careful if you challenge them.

Nice hostel, comfy beds, good location. Pool wasn’t the cleanest, nor was the bathroom. Fairly social but could feel cliquey. Staff were lovely and helpful.
