Well, I do not know where to start, first, it is not like the pictures at all, secondly, at the beginning, my experience was when checking in, it took them an hour and a half, because the number of people who book more than beds, and then the shock was when I entered Dorm, very dirty and full of insects everywhere Place, I understand it's Bali! But the unbelievable amount of bugs, then we go to the other shocking bathrooms! The only place you should have some privacy is that it has no doors! And very dirty, they just put a curtain that you can't urinate or take a shower without someone intruding on your space, and the greatest shock, because the place is small, the place to sit in front of the bedrooms, and the same staff stay up until the morning with very loud music, celebrating the Guests! You can imagine drunk people who don't close the door and the air conditioner is weak! Welcome to the sauna! And when I was about to leave and pack my bags, I found some insects inside! I booked three nights and it was the ugliest and worst experience in my life, and I could not cancel the reservation because I paid online

If I could give 0 stars this place would deserve them. Honestly the WORST most awful place I have ever stayed at in my life. me and my boyfriend booked the place for 1 month and we left after 2 weeks as it was so bad. The shower was broken and they didn’t fix it, air con didn’t work. We had a black worm infestation in the bathroom and they were EVERYWHERE. I have never stayed in a place so dirty. They didn’t even clean the place once. The staff were honestly useless, we asked them to clean one day and they said that they can’t. No reason given just ‘no clean’. Sheets smelled awful, they didn’t give us clean ones or change the towels at all. WiFi didn’t work half the time. No one could pay me stay here again. The streets are cleaner than this place. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!

WORST HOTEL IN BALI! Don’t stay here please. We booked for 1 month and left after 2 because it was so badly run. Broken shower that they wouldn’t fix. Rude and disrespectful owner. Countless bugs in the room the list goes on and on. SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE AND AVOID!!

Definitely do not choose this hostel or private room compared to others for the same price! accommodation is not what the photos make it seem! Very dirty and mold in the rooms! it is the laxity that makes it bad. There is no or less cleaning, for toilet paper you have to ask for it and it is always out of stock and coming tomorrow. (Never got it) They just don't know what they are doing, Such a shame because potential is definitely there! Work on this! Apart from that the employees who work there are friendly!

NEVER GO TO THIS HOSTEL EXCEPT IF WANNA BE THREATENED BY THE RECEPTIONIST WITH A KNIFE. A few days ago, the staff went wild and the girl started to yell at customers and grabbed a knife. She also destroyed the speaker of a customer in front of us and started to water us with a garden hose. Not to mention that of course, the dogs bite you. Also if you book a dorm for 8 or 10 people they will put in the one of 16 people, at the same price. The staff will make you pay for everything little thing that is supposed to include (fork, etc) The only good thing coming out of this hostel is that you will have good stories to tell your friends.

Avoid this place. It is incredibly dirty- sheets are smelly, looks like they don’t wash them, with stains everywhere… The hot water lasts 2 minutes- plus the shower stops and you have to wait for at least 10 minutes until it comes back, while you are full of soap. There was no remote for the tv. The towels were dirty (they don’t provide them- they make you pay for them). The ac remote was not working. The entrance is full of dogs that will bark you everytime you go in. The other lady at the reception is very unpolite. We asked to store our lugagge for 1 hour and she said we should pay for thay (while all the other hostels we stayed at they kindly stored it for us). Full of spiders, dirt, stains on the wall. Outdated pictures ( very!!! ) Billiards not working. Breakfast very very poor - a toast with butter and jam (butter in bad condition). The dorm smelled like pee. At the dorm we couldn’t sleep because a woman was shouting all night. I hope they update the pictures. What you see is not the reality. I know the place is cheap but you can get great places in Bali for that price. Check the reviews before booking - this was our mistake.

I have already booked and paid for a stay at this place. The price was okay, on the cheaper side, and we were prepared for many budget-friendly aspects. I have quite a high tolerance for such things. However, upon arrival, I was actually moved to a different apartment, which was not what I had wanted. They moved me to MARGARITA APARTEMENT AND & CO WORKING CANGGU. To be honest, I am extremely disappointed. Upon arrival, okay, I'll say it again, my tolerance is still quite high. But after staying here, so many things were just... oh my, how could this happen? The staircase leading to the upper floor is extremely narrow. Very narrow. All the eating utensils had stains on them. What really shocked me was that the pot for boiling water was dirty and covered in black crust. Imagine cooking in that; how toxic your food might become. Even the bidet spray was incredibly sharp, like a knife. It left me with a sore bottom. The place was quite dirty and humid. The room was decent, but there were many spots that were dirty due to mold, stains, or who knows what. But one thing that I found most outrageous, in my opinion, was when they knocked on my door at 1 in the afternoon just so the villa management could show the unit to foreigners. I was sleeping at that time. This is truly unacceptable, very, very unacceptable. And to make matters worse, the power went out at one point. My experience staying here has been categorically terrible. I should have trusted the 1-star rating from the beginning. Hopefully, they can make significant improvements in the future.

Pros The private rooms facing the main swimming pool had bathrooms with great natural lighting. This can be hard to find. The location is just outside of canggu near a pretty rice field. Spacious room. There is smart TV inside room. Hot water. Great wifi. Cons This is the worst hotel I stayed at in Bali. The pictures posted online are old. The budget room looks very different than the photos online. It was very dirty. This hotel is overpriced. I did not stay at the cheaper nicer hotels bececause they were fully booked, but I stayed in them before. Their pet dogs bark and one had a bloody nose. One dog was aggressive towards hotel guests and tourists passing by outside the hotel. A worm came out of the shower drain after I showered and I was extremely grossed out. Receptionists knocking on my door numerous times in the morning and waking me up is unacceptable. Receptionists should wait for guests to come to lobby. Coming to the door disturbing guests many times is annoying. No towel available to dry myself after shower. Was given a smelly mini blanket with animal hair all over it. Received a knock on the door. I thought it was someone with a towel. No, a man was with a potential future guest and wanted to show him our room. We were stressed. I told him my husband is in the bathroom that he showered and is naked because he needs a towel. All the hotels towels were wet from rain. He asked to show this boy our room again. My husband stuck his head out of the bathroom and said okay show him fast. This was very weird. Ordered a smoothie bowl. It was the worst smoothie bowl I’ve ever had. Room temperature. It was just dragon fruit blended with some granola and a dab of yoghurt. Day of check out a boy hotel guest said one of the dogs was diagnosed as having a parasite. This dog had a bloody nose a lot of the time. Not safe to have it around guests. The boy needed donation to save its life with a vet procedure. He was panicking and I felt bad so I donated.

Without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had while traveling! The hostel is nothing like the pictures. We stayed in a private room with a toilet which didn’t work, the room had definitely not been cleaned in a while, but worst of all the room was filled with mold. The smell in the room was horrible. The hostel offered us other rooms, but the mold in these rooms was even worse than the one we were assigned. We had only checked in and received our room, when we told the hostel, that we wanted our money back, but the hotel manager refused and ran away. We didn’t see his face again… We talked to two other people at the hostel, who told us, that they have had the same experience as us. We decided to find another hotel the same day as we arrived - because we would have pitted our health to risk if we had stayed at the hostel...

This hostel has won by far and large the title of worst hostel I've stayed in Bali so far. The surf hostel thing is def. a sham I've fallen over. I ended up a terrible dorm with 12+ beds which is more like a shed/annex made of aluminum without bathroom. This room is not even properly sealed. I would have felt better in a tent. Toilets and showers are just outside with very poor conditions. The only good side was the staff, who were very simpathetic. Other than that, this was just a bad experience I'd rather not have.

Not a surf hostel, location is a bit inconvenient. Had no running water for a full day & night during our stay so no flushing toilet in dorm, no shower etc., lights didn’t work in the room so very dark after sunset, 24 hour bar and restaurant is very nice touch however my friend ordered a cheeseburger in it and got no meat patty (only cheese and salad) which I found disappointing. Dorm room needs more regular cleaning as there is dust everywhere and I believe my friend and I were bitten while we slept. Wifi was very patchy also. We also booked to be in an 8 bed all female dorm and first got put into a 14 bed (I think) mixed dorm in a shed, and after asking to be moved put into a 10 bed mixed, this wasn’t a big deal for us however if I was a nervous solo female traveller it wouldn’t have been ideal. Staff are lovely so I was upset with the room as I would have liked to leave a good review, however the actual accommodation did not align with the reviews we saw and we were quite disappointed.

Run away from this place, absolutely horrible. Fake pictures of everything! -The toilettes are outside with a shower curtain that doesn’t close all the way to have privacy, basically anyone that passes can see you using the toilette. Besides that they’re incredibly moldy and dirty, I stayed one night and didn’t dare to take a shower there. -The whole place it’s dirty and ugly, the pool it’s like a swamp and the pictures of the people around it are totally fake, nothing shown on the pictures it’s there. I asked if we had a towel with the bed and they said no because people have stolen it in the past. -I’m a huge animal lover and they have 3 dogs in a very very bad shape, sick and aggressive, in less than 30 minutes I saw them attacking 2 guests for no reason in different occasions. -The WiFi doesn’t work and it just shows “no internet connection” -No charging plugs in the dorms and only 3 available plugs to charge outside, to share between 16 people! -The sleeping situation it’s just the worst experience I’ve ever had traveling in hostels for years all over the world. Insects in the bed, plants coming inside on the wall and 1 little AC for a whole room that’s built in zinc under the Balinese heat, it is extremely hot and impossible to get any rest. -The dogs barking at night and the very loud noice of the sliding door just makes it even worst. Overall the worst place EVER!

DONT GO HERE Its so sad to see this place getting worse thru the years. I stayed here first time in 2019 and had a good experience, mainly because of Yudi that does not work there anymore and i understand why. The owner or manager called himself margarita and was terrible always to close with my friends that where girls, always came in without knocking when they where changing. The quality has obviously gone down the same road as the management, and the answers on peoples reviews just shows how delusional he is. Dont go here.

If I could I will give this place negative stars I would do it. Worst hostel I’ve ever been to. Breakfast is a black coffee with two toasts, nothing else. Neither they clean the room nor change your sheets. Photos are not real, the place looks disgusting. Bathroom full of mould, toilet looks horrible like they’ve never cleaned it at all. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy if I had one 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

The hostel is a bit older and a bit run down because of Corona. The pictures on the internet are not necessarily true. The location is okay and quiet. It's easy to get around on a scooter. But it's not a surf hostel. All rooms downstairs facing the pool have mould. Some more, some less. The rooms are generally very damp. We didn't use the pool. The good thing that made it less bad was the man from the bar with his three dogs. He also does the check in and out. He is very friendly, warm and funny. It's worth it just for him.

I was disappointed with the room that I stayed in, I book in a shared dormitory in the 2nd floor and expected that everything is the same as the picture. But turn out, no. Shared dormitory 2nd floor is not the same building as in the picture. Blanket is so thin and not same as in the picture, the room is so narrow, and the most problem for me is the WATER in the toilet. I need to wait for about 2/3 minutes for the water to come out :( I should be staying for 3 nights, but I just stay for 2 night, the water is a big deal for me. If you planning to stay here, just be okay that everything is not as the same as the picture but everything is good, the staff is so nice and helpful.

Absolutely disgusting place there is mould everywhere, blood on the sheets, dirt everywhere, pool table is ripped and broken, there is no table tennis table like the pictures the swimming pool was dirty, all pictures are years old and the place has not been maintained at all, worst place I’ve seen in Bali by a mile. The manager was very rude and did not care about the mould or state of the rooms and refused to give any money back. DO NOT STAY HERE

Really dirty, misleading photos, mean dogs that the workers took way too long to call off of me when I was arriving. No soap. One dirty and small blanket and no top sheet for a "full bed" room which was just twins pushed together. Bathroom moldy and wet, bed headboard smelly, ripped and dirty, bad smell throughout the entire room.

The bathroom was gross. Haven’t seen anyone clean it during our stay and there was no toilet paper. The light was broken so it was dark in our dorm in the evening. We wanted to switch to a private room and the lady said that that was okay, we went for breakfast, came back and suddenly there was nothing available. We couldn’t take our rented scooter to switch to another hostel. Would not recommend. (Yudi was a legend, extra star only for him)

My worst stay in Bali! I booked this based on how the pictures looked. It’s very scammy to post pics of a room and then you get there and the room you are expecting is a total dump and not even remotely close to what was advertised. The rooms look nothing like the pictures! Old couch with rips, dirty sheets with hair and stains on them, bathroom was leaking water and making a loud dripping noises, no TV ( as advertised in the pictures). I couldn’t even stay there one night and was told the “villa” is occupied but you can get it tomorrow. If I didn’t complain I’m sure they would be happy to get away with such SCAMMY tactics. They moved me to another hotel 10 mins away, but after that I wouldn’t want to go back to this dodgy place. 👎👎👎

The worse hostel so far in Bali! Don t Book Here! It Looks completely different than the pictures on the website. Filfty toilet, smelly beds. I booked included breakfast and i had to discuss 2 of 3 mornings about It. Always had to ask If i could also get a coffee.... Very poor Service! The only good thing about this Hostel were the fellow traveller.

When you stay in the hostel, you stay in an aluminum barn with a big aluminum sliding door that makes a TON of noice when it opens. After my first and only night they expected me to leave as I asked to put my bags at the desk. When I came back late afternoon and decided to extend, they DIDN'T WASH TO SHEETS!!! I could see the same tiny spots of my previous sheets. Drinkable water isn't free and there's a literal root of a plant growing from the roof to the bottom of the toilet room... And even the Margarita pizza was literally the worst pizza I have eaten since I was around 10 years old :/

Positives: friendly staff (Yudi!), private rooms are very nice (especially those upstairs, with a nice balcony), cute doggies, very nice pool, motorbike rental and laundry service available, friendly atmosphere created in the common space. It is quite far from the beach part but it is a calm, peaceful location, if you take a motorbike you will have no problem. Negatives: the manager is a little bit pushy to sell additional things; the breakfast is not the best one (salami instead of bacon and not smashed avocado were quite funny). The most important thing: I would avoid booking transport to Gili with them. They oragnized us a trip with Semanya One company, just go and see their reviews on google (rating 1.8), worst thing ever

Avoid this place! The room smells from mold. They forgot to put toilet paper, towels and hand soap in the room. Upon request they provided me the towel and told me toilet paper is not included 🤣... But after 5mins they brought me some toilet paper. But don't expect any body soap, shampoo and water dispenser. Terrible service - there are better hotels that cold 50% less. Also the shower looks like from Holocaust camps. But the Aircon works well, reception is 24/7 and kind staff what is a plus. Nontheless this is really not a good place to stay - not ever for the 120k I payed for it... I wouldn't stay here even for 30k

The friendliest staff, great to meet people, comfy beds. No complaints at all, will definitely be returning. Massive respect to Nyoman, yudi and the rest of the team. Keep it up fellas

Very nice stay at the margarita surf hostel. One of the best budget deals in Canggu, because Rooms are really spacious, table is very long, have all the facilities for comfortable stay. Have clean swimming pool and pool table. Yudi is a rock star! Recommended for long stay

The room is super big and nice!! Also has small space for kitchen stove, toilet, bed, AC, so it’s kinda like studio room. The host is also super nice and friendly! For you who want a big space and quiet place, totally recommend this place!!!

Great place off the beaten track, nestled on quiet roads in between Canggu and Perinan. Walking access to everything with drinks available, they have the best Arak in Canggu available. Big, clean rooms for very affordable prices. The staff are very friendly and so is the owner, Nyoman. Big shout out to Dina, Rai and Bur for making my stay even more beautiful. A very casual, easy bar area in the courtyard encourages the guests to meet and socialise without being pressured.

My stay was nice and enjoyable. Checkin process is very easy and fast. so lovely and great first impression of hostel. Amazing place! The owners and staff r so nice, and very helpful. Staying here for 3 nights. The front desks are all kind. Another guests who stay here are also helpful. It feels like you’re surrounded by your family. For the price, the place is more than enough. The room is spacious, it has balcony too. Its sooo affordable and its located near best spots in Canggu

Probably the worst hostel in Bali. It can’t get much worse than this. I arrived there at mid-day. No AC in this so called room. Iron sheet walls made it feel like an oven. The photos of this place online are VERY deceiving. Long story short: I wouldn’t stay here for free!

great place! easy to hang out and meet people. pool is clean. food is tasty. the staff is genuinely very very friendly. there are bike rentals and it’s a short ride to the main roads. extended our stay a few more nights.

Margarita is a very special place, where I have met some of my best friends in Bali. Yudi (the manager) is an amazing person that creates a unique ambiance. Everyone always has an awesome time playing pool or just hanging out.

Let me save your money and avoid Bali’s biggest SCAM. My partner & I booked for 3 weeks (mistake was we didn’t read the google reviews) we were expecting an atleast decent place for the price. We aren’t too fussy however, this place was a complete nightmare! From bed bugs to slugs, mould and leaking pipes, ants and dirty benches. The first red flag was the cleaner sweeping out the bugs from the bed and spraying with fly spray rather than doing a full clean. This place is bad enough to make you sick. The “bar and restaurant”, you couldn’t pay me enough to eat out of it. We packed our bags and left within a couple hours. No one would take accountability and told us to sort it out ourselves with management who then referred us onto someone else and someone else. We were shown another location, once again so filthy my mum would have a heart attack. We have requested a full refund yet won’t do so. Regardless of reading reviews or not - this is no one’s fault but the misleading hostel that will not take responsibility for not updating their photos. A common response regarding the excess of bugs were “it’s just bali”, we have been here for over a month and never dealt with such dirtiness. Im guttered I didn’t take more photos.
