During my recent stay in Canggu, Bali, I had the opportunity to experience Ohana Retreat. While the villa holds promise with its nice rooftop bar and proximity to the beach, I must admit that there were several areas that required attention and improvement, particularly the room conditions and overall amenities. Let's start with the positive aspects. The rooftop bar at Ohana Retreat was undoubtedly a highlight. The panoramic views and relaxed atmosphere created a perfect setting for enjoying a drink or two while taking in the stunning surroundings. Being close to the beach was also a convenience, allowing for easy access to the sand and waves without the busyness often associated with the main Canggu area. This offered a more peaceful and tranquil experience for those seeking a quieter getaway. However, it is important to note that the rooms at Ohana Retreat were in need of significant fixes and renovation. While the concept of the villa was appealing, the execution fell short in terms of maintenance and attention to detail. The accommodations lacked the level of comfort and functionality one would expect. From outdated furnishings to worn-out amenities, the overall impression was one of neglect. Investing in room improvements, including updating furniture and enhancing the facilities, would greatly enhance the guest experience. Furthermore, the amenities provided by the villa were also in need of improvement. Basic necessities such as reliable Wi-Fi, hot water, and efficient air conditioning are essential for a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, the villa fell short in delivering these amenities consistently. Ensuring these essentials are in good working condition is crucial for guest satisfaction and should be a priority for the management. While it is clear that Ohana Retreat has the potential to be an excellent retreat destination, it is essential for the management to address the issues with the rooms and improve the overall amenities. Taking proactive measures to renovate and update the accommodations would significantly elevate the guest experience and make for a more enjoyable stay. In conclusion, Ohana Retreat Bali offers a promising concept with its rooftop bar and proximity to the beach, offering a quieter alternative to the bustling main Canggu area. However, the villa requires considerable attention and improvement, particularly in terms of room conditions and amenities. To keep it short: Approved and recommendable! The pictures are accurate, the retreat is new! Owners (Neil & his wife) and the staff are just adorable. What else? It‘s quiet. This is very nice as you have a short distance to the party / entertainment zone but when you want to sleep you can escape the Canggu Music madness. Note: This review is based on European standards - so you’ll be satisfied. For US and Australian travelers - leave your adapters at home, they made international outlets in the walls for you! Great place to stay in Pererenan. Just a short walk to the beach. Lovely rooms decorated with taste by Neill, the owner, who is American and always here to help + share info on cool spots to go to. Rooftop view is amazing at sunset. Highly recommended.

A good place but the pool is not at the sun (only the morning) and the wifi is not really good, but a beautiful and cozy place.

I spent the most wonderful few months at Ohana, which became my home in Bali when I first moved over. A great room, comfy bed, a beautiful rooftop and pool and wonderful staff! The area of Pererenan is the best - set just outside of busy Canggu main, but still with a Bali feel. Ohana is close to cute restaurants, cafes and bars and the beach. Thanks for a great stay!

I spent a full month at Ohana Retreat Bali and I truly loved it. The loft style room was amazing and Neil and his family were absolutely welcoming and caring. Would totally come back and recommend to everyone who is thinking of booking this little quiet well located place 💥💥

Ohana Retreat is an oasis in Pererernan, a good distance away from the Canggu hustle and bustle. I stayed in the loft and loved it! The bed is so comfortable and the view from the top loft and the rooftop is just amazing. The owners Neill and Shelly are so friendly and always helpful. I can highly recommend Ohana retreat and hope I can come back soon!

Ohana is a great place to stay if you’re coming to Canggu- it’s just a stone’s throw away from all of the shops and restaurants, but in Pererenan you feel like a world away, surrounded by rice fields and calm. The building is super new, and built with a lot of attention to detail- the bed is like sleeping on feathers, and the shower’s one of the best I’ve seen in Bali. Everything is white with cute plant murals, and the pool area is stunning. The owners are incredibly friendly and have lots of helpful tips of where to eat and what to do. Looking forward to coming back!

As older and first-time travellers to Bali, we have been so impressed with the accomodations here at Ohana Retreat Bali as well as the pleasant and generous hospitality of our hosts, Neill and Shelly. Modern, new construction, clean and comfortable. Took advantage of the on-site massage room, eating at the wide variety of local restaurants available within walking distance of Ohana, and enjoying the nearby beach. The 360-degree view from the rooftop terrace is amazing and a great place to see all the kites flying in the surrounding area. Definite Thumbs Up!! 👍👍

WOW. It's an amazing place. We've been many times on Bali to explore the island and different parts of it. This time we are at Ohana Retreat Bali and it's an amazing place to stay. We are digital nomads (travel blogger, photographer, filmmaker...) and we love this silent and modern place. Here you can feel the "Bali Vibe", you live really close to the beach (visible from the amazing Rooftop Terrace with amazing sunsets) and everything is pefect. The owner couple is also really kind, the help where they can and here, you will also meet the cutest dog you have ever seeen. :) Over all: thumbs up! Amazing boutique hotel. Neal, Shelley and their staff are great hosts. Stayed here for two weeks over Christmas/New Years and can’t say enough good things about it. Great location away from the crowds that bog down other parts of Bali, but still lots of interesting spots to eat, relax or work - whatever you need is a short walk away.

I had the best stay at Ohana Retreat. The hosts are truly wonderful and the property is immaculate and very comfortable. It really feels like being at home away from home! All the benefits of a luxury home stay and all the perks of a boutique hotel. I will definitely come back here, wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Canggu area!
