While I only went here for the yoga, I'd love to come back some time and stay at the resort, which, by the way, hardly feels like a conventional resort at all. Everything about this lush retreat set far out in the rice paddies just exudes health and mindfulness... The yoga classes are called such things as 'Embodied Flow,' and they're all taught in wooden pavilions surrounded by palm trees and flower beds. ‘Make sure your body is not so rigid that you can’t sense the beating of your heart’, the beautiful young American instructor, Jess, advises in a soft, soothing voice as we get started. Everything she says throughout the next hour, actually, concerns love and compassion. At every downwards-facing dog, I see little yellow leaves flying around in the peaceful garden behind me, and at every warrior position we’re aligned with the gardeners nursing the tropical plants and flowers around us. So soothing.

Just come here for a yoga session, i'm not staying. The place is comfy and has an old theme style. They have a pool, and an open area with green grass. I like this place, but need more attention about cleaning. Theres a small "bale-bale" near the receptionist, need to be clean and maybe change the cover pillow. And the toilet, maybe add some water spray. Anyway, yoga shala is great.

Wow, what a stunningly tasteful oasis from the Bali chaos. And also yoga with Wolf is a must!. Whether you are a fully fledged yogi or it’s your first ever class, forget your preconceptions of what a yoga teacher should be and take a class with one of the most wonderful people you’ll ever meet.

Ha ha ha! We did the laughter yoga with Wolf and it was a great experience and a lot of fun! Wolf patiently explained everything to us and by the end of the class we were all laughing hard naturally with each other! Desa seni is also a beautiful setting for yoga.

My girlfriend and I spent the day here. We got a massage and did an evening yoga class. The massage was incredible and reasonably priced and the yoga class was one of the best I've had. During our down time we were allowed to hang around the resort and eat and swim. It's beautiful, I would recommend this place to fam and friends.

When I visited this yoga studio it just took my breath. I was in Bali for the first time in my life and this studio was the first one where I practiced many of lessons with only and one Wolf. I really enjoyed his classes. It’s so energetic and full of positivity like Wolf is. Also he is going little bit kick your but with his awesome flow but I love it. Highly recommend 🩵 looking forward to visit this studio and his class again.🙏🏿

I am ONLY commenting on the yoga class General: 3 out of 5. 👍 Teacher is nice and friendly 👍 Yoga session not too hard, beginners friendly as well 👍 Studio is located in the middle of an aged garden, so fresh air (especially for the 7:15 morning class) 👎 But it's the very few yoga classes that the teacher would head out faster than the students 👎 Meanwhile, the instructions is wayyy to fast, which didn't allow for proper yoga breathing. I feel the teacher is in a rush to somewhere else. 👎Personally I wouldn't come back if I had a choice. Sadly.

I have been to Desa Seni several times to do yoga with my lovely friend Wolf to experience some juicy yoga classes. The environment in Desa Seni is very peaceful, green and calm. There are 2 shallas there. Wolfs classes are good for everybody, his approach is to always serve all participants in his class, he is very thoughtful and like to hang out after the class for a cup of ginger tea. Definitely highly recommend his classes. Soft or strong, you will always find what suits you best. 💛❤️💚🙏🏼 lots of love, Namaste

Desa Seni is an oasis. Every detail has been thought out and meticulously executed. From the moment you arrive in Bali ( they arranged an airport transfer for me), it has been absolutely glorious. The staff, are friendly and sunny The food is delicious, the blueberry gluten free pancakes and the red rice kampung ( I think I spelt that wrong) The setting is exquisite - the pool, the gardens, the spa, the yoga Shalas The accomodation is authentic and comfortable with thoughtful touches, like a daily offering, and quotes on the pillow during turn down service and post cards and seeds and mosquito spray and filtered water. The yoga classes and instruction have all been excellent, each with their own unique teaching style I am beyond grateful I got to experience Desa Seni in this lifetime, it truly is something special. So much love and respect for the entire team. If you ever get a chance to visit , do it!

The place looks amazing and also I felt like it’s the only proper yoga place on the island. Go for Wolfs class- he is simply amazing and ask for a jungle flow! You will find the real meditation in the repetitive movement.

Wolf’s class was amazing, the flow is a genuine quintessence of traditional hatha (he has just came back from Rishikesh!) and power yoga. He gave strong alignments and cues. Music also awesome! If you are looking for something really fresh and authentic you should definitely join his class!

My husband and son dropped me off to yoga and they ended up staying using the pool and we all had lunch! Beautiful place and they had vegan options which we really enjoyed! Yoga was fantastic too! Use the mozzie spray provided! Ps. there was no yoga retreat at he time of our visit and we did not stay in the accommodation.

Only stayed here for a few days but it was worth it. Venue: Gorgeous, quiet and an oasis from the busy streets. The salt water pool is super refreshing and clean. I spent many afternoons just reading by the pool and swimming. Staff: The staff is unbelievable. Each remember your name and provide amazing service. Fish, the Manager, is super friendly and always tries to chat with guest. Spa: I had massages, a pedicure and a cream bath - all were great. Food: fresh and delicious. Their morning coffee is ridiculously good and I've had my fair share of coffee. Also, I love that they don't use plastic straws!!! Rooms: Be wary that the rooms aren't modern, they're in these traditional wood houses so aren't super sealed. There will be mosquitoes and lizards. The bathrooms are open and so you'll get some bugs. The Resort provides natural bug repellent that works. This would be the only potential downside to staying here. Mosquitoes love me but it didn't bother me a ton. Yoga: AMAZING. So good that I kept coming back even when I wasn't staying here. I've taken classes with Bernd, Carlotta and Charlotte. Coming from SF's rich yoga culture, I'd have to say they're some of the best teachers in the world.

Went for a yoga class here. Gorgeous setting and great teacher. The only thing I’d recommend is for the teacher to ask attendees to put their phones away when the class starts. There were several people texting and taking videos during the class and it was very distracting

The best yoga I ever attended. Tropical garden set is great spot where to focus and practise the yoga is a lifetime experience 🧘‍♀️🙏. The best teacher? Zee and her Vinyasa variations. When I'll come back to Bali, I'll come here!

Yoga was ok, good and positive teacher, but people were talking between each other which is annoying. SPA was low level. Spa bathroom was not clean, water in the tub was dirty so wouldn’t advise having shower. Also the guy who does massage should try to look a bit more tidy in terms of nail cleaning etc, not nice seeing someone’s long dirty nail while receive a massage treatment. Staff was not friendly - was waiting for my bf sitting on sunbed( all sunbeds were empty) , been asked to sit on a bench instead. Would not go to this place neither would advise.

A very special place with amazing attention to detail. Our villa was amazing and we were taken care of exceptionally well. The in-house food was perfect and the kids were well looked after. (Water park is 10 min walk away) I am not one for yoga but the relaxation classes were great and early mornings in the pool kept my blood pressure low. My wife says the yoga was the best she has ever done...can't recommend highly enough. Amongst the noisy gritty Canggu backdrop it is a piece of heaven!!

A fancy shmancy but amazingly beautiful yoga resort, perfect for a quiet getaway from all the troubles of the world. I wouldn’t say it reflects an authentic Balinese experience as it’s clearly much fancier than the outside world but I would definitely recommend it for some spirit cleansing. Furthermore, the staff is just lovely and the food delicious!

I loved my stay at Desa Seni! The food was great, especially the breakfast. The spa treatments were amazing, I highly recommend the banana leaf wrap! The rooms are very traditional and the grounds are beautiful. The detail throughout the resort is amazing and it is very serene. The yoga schedule had plenty of options and the instructors were great. I really enjoyed Eka's classes. Her voice is so calming and she is a fantastic teacher! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially when I had food poisoning and was going to have to move hotels. They sorted things out so that I could stay another night. I can't fault any part of my stay and would love to go back!

Overpriced. Amenities was basic for the price you’re paying. Place has too many mosquitoes for comfort.

This is by far the most beautiful garden/outdoor settings I’ve seen in a hotel. The whole property is a lush and tropical neatly maintained garden. Even during the low season everything is maintained perfectly. All the staff is so kind, professional, attentive and thorough. Special mention to Pande, the person in charge at the restaurant and pool; he takes care of the guests like family. He is the kindest, so professional, and always so attentive to the guests’ needs. He made me feel welcomed and safe. The yoga shalas are absolutely beautiful, set in a breathtaking environment. I enjoyed many yoga classes with Carlotta, a truly fantastic yoga instructor. A must try! She is an experienced teacher and it shows in her classes. As another guest commented in the reviews: accommodation is simple, but that's the appeal. I stayed in a Village Cabin. As the name says, it’s a “cabin”, so don’t expect luxury. But it is super cute. Some guests have mentioned the smell in their reviews, and yes there is a humidity smell as well as a funky smells in the bathroom sometimes, but the beauty of the site, the kindness of the staff and the inclusion of yoga classes totally outweigh this small negative point. I sure hope to come back one day and for a longer stay!

Desa Deni is an iconic destination in Cangu, a perfect escape from the madness ! The magical tropical gardens , huge saltwater pool, on site yoga and excellent food all make for a perfect time out of the hectic ness of cangu.

Relaxed and peaceful place to stay. The gardens are beautiful and the villa was charming. Accommodation is simple, but that's the appeal. The staff are extremely friendly. There's a fantastic choice of yoga included. Classes are well-attended in an atmospheric studio with knowledgeable teachers working in different styles. I'd come back and stay longer!

Desa Seni is a creation one of its kind. It's like entering a different world of beauty and peacefulness. The two open air yoga shalas hold amazing classes and are so very unique, surrounded by permaculture and lush greens. The restaurant carter's delicious vegetarian meals. And the hotel rooms made of small traditional wooden house are precious. There is art everywhere you look.

  • 5/5 Fleur L. 10 months ago on Google
18 years in the making. It’s clear Desa Seni is a labour of love. Ten integral antique wood homes that have been imported from the many islands of Indonesia (as well as Bali) are laid out in a storybook village. The rooms are furnished with interesting and carefully chosen rustic antiques. Yoga classes are held daily in a wide, breezy pavilion. The swimming pool is saltwater (to avoid chlorine drainage into the surrounding rice fields). The resort’s menu is meatless and made from ingredients picked on site (fish and poultry can be added). It’s a green, lush oasis from the surrounding traffic and chaos that is now Bali. The gardens are cared for daily. The staff seem so happy to there and are so friendly. The type of place keeps becoming more appealing as time passes. We spotted more subtle art pieces and details sprinkled throughout everyday.
