Came here for a special occasion and was extremely disappointed. The food is way too experimental, the ingredients don’t complement each other, and often don’t even work together. The seaweed bread and butter were the highlight of the 6 course meal which left us about 50% full, given the tiny portions. There wasn’t a single course that tasted amazing, and the final straw of this disappointing experience was the bill, which came down to over £200 for 2 people. No issue with paying that much money for something that makes you want to lick the plate. However, when an equivalent (or better) fine dining experience with a 6-8 course menu and drinks costs the same or less in places like Paris or London, it makes you feel ripped off. Mozaic is severely overpriced, given where it is, but most importantly, given that the food was so average. Please reconsider your way off price to quality ratio. The staff were nice but that’s the case pretty much everywhere in Bali, and definitely doesn’t justify the price tag. Would not come back to this place, as it ruined a birthday meal, and would not recommend it to anyone.

OMG! What an amazing fine dining experience! We had the 8 course seasonal menu with cocktail pairing. The food was just unbelievably good. Unique and exquisite dishes crafted by world class chefs, paired with fantastically creative cocktails in the most beautifully luxurious restaurant setting. To start canapés are served in the sitting room, you are then taken to your table where entree’s are served. The mains are served in a beautiful outdoor setting before returning to your indoor table for deserts. Staff are very attentive and professional ensuring all needs are met while guiding you through this beautiful dining experience.

World class dining in the heart of Ubud. Having had the opportunity to dine at some really fine restaurants in New York City, I can certainly put Mozaic on par with some of the very best in the world. Creative, perfectly prepared, and exquisitely presented the menu was tremendous. The beef short rib with carrots and vanilla foam is a dish I won't soon forget. The pineapple/coconut dessert was another dish that you know will stay in your mind for a long time! Gorgeous space, wonderful staff, and an unforgettable night. Yes, it is expensive, but you get what you pay for, and this place is something special!

Was intrigued by the “red wine and red meat once a month brunch” - so stopped by to enjoy it. Wasn’t able to sit in the main dining room to watch the chefs work their magic, but the restaurant sat us in our own private outside space. Food was really good. Service was a little bit off, it seemed they were getting back into the swing of things. This restaurant is definitely open.

In collaboration with Les Grandes Tables du Monde, Chef Owner Chris Salans has had access to up to date international standards for operating restaurants to the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation in order to ensure the safety of its staff members and guests at all times. Our team has been training to these standards and we are confident to welcome you back to Mozaic with the following services

Truly fantastic experience, one I could say the best I've been in Bali! It's a fine dining yet the atmosphere is exceptionally warm. I really enjoyed the lush garden, very Ubud. They have few areas which purposes are differ. The dining room is neat and modern, but aside from that room everything else is done in a mixture of modern and Ubud style. We were greeted at the entrance and showed the menu. I was with a friend and we chose the "Seasonal Set Menu". At the time of our visit there were only 2 menu options, the other one would be the all vegetarian. - since we have chosen our menu, staff asked where do we want to be seated for a tapas, which you get for getting the set menu. We decided to sit on the bar upfront and ordered our cocktails. It's a full bar and they have very interesting home-mixes! One of the PR staff then took us walk around the venue, on to the lush garden, over the dining room even passed the kitchen to see their workshop room. So green and nice. Dinner was something else. I rarely said this, but their food has successfully made my tounge dance! With every bite of each menu! - at the beginning of dining, they presented a bowl of veggies and herbs and some fruits which apparently are the ingredients used on each dishes. Staff were all well informed and not at all shy to explain them. As I said on the start of this review that the atmosphere is warm. Added to that the chef, who is a fantastic fun person, presented at least two of the menus on our set menu - we met him again after dinner at the bar where we see 3 other couples who were just finished their food and decided to have a drink at the bar. Blake Thornley, the chef, introduced us all and we ended up having a great conversation. That's how warm the place is! For anyone visiting Ubud and looking for the best dining experience, I could not recommend this place more. Please come! **reservations are needed (I think). Tables are not that many though so better be safe.

We celebrated our 37 yrs of marriage here as it came highly recommended by amandari - our resort that give very reliable list of places to dine! Indeed; the food; service and ambience are 5*. The location is also convenient for us. We had the 8 course meal and the settings of having our mains in the garden is a new nice twists. We also had our aperitif in the lounge before our 3 appetisers Overall; the atmosphere and the variety of foods are delicious, tasty and somewhat well crafted and displayed Nice to have our dinner there for some memories and great experience Will say highly recommended too.

Utterly incredible. Definitely book "The Chef's Table" - small dining room to watch chef's prepare and finish a set menu. Expensive but totally worth it. Amazing to see them incorporating local flavours into fine dining. The wine pairing was also fantastic. Highly recommend a visit if you enjoy fine dining and aren't price concious.

In our many visits to Bali we have never had bad food. So going to Mozaic with all its online praise claiming for it to be a special treat even in the competitive market was an exciting proposition. Upon arrival staff seems surprised to have interested diners and triple checked that a hefty dinner price is good to go before leading our group to an indoor overly air conditioned space, a room filled with vacant tables where everything seems to lack a loving touch from the elevator music from the 90s to Marriott style interior choices. Chef(s) seem to have abandoned their kitchen a while ago or their taste buds have aged with the 20 year history of the place. Most of the dishes were unpleasant and overly packed with techniques. Overall, the cook was trying to show off his ability to create jelly (featured in most dishes) and dated techniques such as nitrogen food baths. After a huge presentation, the frozen nitrogen fish was unpleasant especially matched with salty broth that lacked depth in taste. Black caviar was a waste matched with a strange jelly (again!) beetroot fish dish. The main course lamb was edible yet over complicated with marinated pumpkin and mushrooms at the same time and featured unnecessary show off foam. Foie Gras was present throughout the evening and well made from a technical perspective yet again matched with sour droplets that took away from the meat instead of adding a touch that might have been intended by its creator. Drinks were offered in the beginning but once both our cocktail and water glasses dried out, the staff never offered another. Restaurant claims to have local foods and even showcases a platter of local ingredients on each table. Yet, all the tastable ingredients and techniques have nothing to do with Bali. Could it be that this is an old restaurant struggling to stay relevant in a dynamic food market filled with extraordinary culinary talent? Could it be that the chef(s) or owners are forgetting about this old business? Could it be that its main audience is older client staying at a resort looking for a splurge? Could it be.. that this place has lost inspiration that maybe was once there? Regardless, I'm happy we went. We now have plenty of stories about a fine dining experience going so wrong for once.

Had both 8 course menus here (vegetarian + non veg) with cocktails pairing. It was an amazing culinary experience. We were impressed thru each course and cocktail (the starfruit cocktail and the Escalope were the most notable ones). Good luck trying to remember what you’re gonna eat next! And what are the ingredients! In general, It felt more like 20 courses not 8 and was never expecting that I will get full on fine dining restaurant but I did.

I had an amazing experience dining here. The staffs were very polite and exceptionally helpful not to mention quick to respond. Food plating was unquestionably impeccable, everything was beautifully served and I can tell everything was of divine quality. Their signature cocktails were amazing too. Everything tastes and looks perfect to me. This is undoubtedly a fine dining experience with at least 6 course menu so it is expected that you pay more money compared to regular fancy dining anywhere else, but here, believe me : money well spent. Really, nothing to complain for.

The restaurant is basically in a jungle. You can enjoy the dinner in the nature. Don't worry about the mosquitos and bugs, during the dinner, I was not interrupted by any insects. Due to the environment, you can also enjoy the Michelin 3-star meal in a relatively casual way. The flavor of the food is also very delicate. The price is also reasonable!

Lovely experience! The head chef at our viewing dining package was very very smiley and informative. Some dishes were amazing while some were "just" good and interesting. The wine pairing was fun and seemed well put together, but we have no previous experiences to compare against. Would have liked complimentary water when so much is spent on food and wine. Overall a very fun 4 hours that went away in a breeze!

We have waited for a long time to visit this highly recommended restaurant by local families. And it is indeed worth it. We chose to come for lunch so we can have the sunny ocean view for lunch and again, it is indeed worth it. The food is unique and nicely presented. The service is good and patiently explaining what they have in case you do not understand or not familiar with the menu. Again, the best bet is not leaning on your own understanding, but listening to the recommendation of the person of serves you as they see so much what is favored by others. Well, unless you just want to try what you like or dare. There is only one place in the world that you can have this sea front restaurants with affordable cost, good service and tons of options within walking distance or half mile radius. Bali has been famous for decades and it still has a lot to be discovered. This is just one of them.

Excellent fine-dining in Ubud - the 8 course seasonal menu made the last night of my trip very special. As a fan of south-east Asian food and flavours, I appreciated the way that local ingredients were used to create interesting dishes without manipulating them beyond recognition. Bonus points for letting us see and smell the raw ingredients. Each course was interesting and compelling, and none felt like just a filler, which hasn't been true of restaurants I've been to at double the price! Servers were all lovely and genuine with the traditional Balinese charm.

We visited this place in 2019, just before covid, and had a wonderful experience, so we returned now in 2023. It is more fantastic than we remembered. The whole experience, starting from reception till the end, is superb. We started with a signature cocktail, and continued with an 8 course meal. I went for the cocktail pairing and the harmony of the flavours was incredible. Please, if you are hesitating, go for the cocktail pairing! It was such a unique experience to have a small drink spiced and prepared exactly to match each course. As for the food, each dish was delicious, beautiful and the perfect size for an 8-course meal. I have to admit we couldn't finish the chocolates in the end but took them away and enjoyed them a day later. I particularly liked the spices and fruits presented on our table and with each course we could smell, and see the main local ingedient. (For someone - me - who doesn't know how galangal etc. looks like it was quite cool.) It was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip.

An exquisite experience. They managed to create a truly special atmosphere with super friendly staff, beautiful decorations, and super tasty food. We tried the seasonal menu and all dishes were very well-thought. Some of them might feel a bit strong due to use of herbs and spices, but they all struck a nice balance. I especially liked the kingfish, lamb, and the chocolate dish.

Highly recommended and I’ll surely return. - I’m no expert but this deserves a Michelin star.-

Our first day of our trip in Bali, wanted to start it with amazing culinary experience and they did not disappoint. Amazing, amazing experience from the moment you walk in the lounge having the canapés, to the dining area for the starters and the garden area for main course and desserts. Ambience was perfect for us who wanted to have fine dining experience but not feel so ‘uptight’. Staffs are very knowledgeable with every dish and are on point with giving us excellent service. Food blew our mind. It was well created using the balinese hand picked local resources and using french culinary techniques. We had a break in between and explored a bit of the place, surprisingly it was big. The story of this restaurant is also inspiring especially during Covid times and their evolution. Hands down to the team for giving us a memorable experience and will definitely recommend to our mates that are traveling to Bali. ♥️

A lovely restaurant in the heart of Ubud, which feels like a tranquil escape. The setting and service were both fantastic. We had one of each tasting menu, I think the difference in quality was marked in some dishes. Especially the local lamb dish versus the Nz lamb. The ice cream at the table was good fun and felt like I was at Dinner by Heston. Having the spices and fruits in front of us and having he components explained was a nice touch too. Only dish that I felt could have had a touch more seasoning was the rabbit. It promised loads but ran away from us! X

They prided themselves as the closest thing to a Michelin star restaurant in Bali, if not Indonesia, and rightly so. They do try to aspire to that standard. Been here 3 times and each time they never disappoint. They mix local ingredients with international imports perfectly. During this pandemic time, fresh international ingredients could be a challenge, hence our last visit was not welcome with too many gastronomy stuffs, but this only highlight their high standard of cooking and food presentation. Name any high end french restaurant in Jakarta, they simply don't cook foie gras as perfect as they do. What a taste of paradise in a paradiese island. While wine pairing is usually an excuse to sell over stocks or overrated wine, the folks in Mozaic really did well with their pairings. Overall was very pleased and will be coming back for sure. Worth the long trip to Ubud.

Honestly very big disappointment. If you want to pay this kind of money I definitely will recommend Aperitif in Ubud instead of Mozaic. Food indeed was very good. And wine pairing excellent. For these two I am giving 2 stars but for the rest... we ordered wine pairing but half glass as we always do in those kind of restaurant (also for instance in Aperitif or Gaggan in Bangkok). This glasses was a joke. We got shots of wine. We felt like in total we had a glass of wine per person which we paid for it almost 100 euro! In the end my husband ordered coffee and asked for a glass of water. He didn’t even get a water but we were charged for the whole bottle on the bill! Not cool when you paid 5,5 mln ruphia for dinner (which was absolutely not worth those kind of money) you can’t even get a glass of water free of charge with your espresso...

Some dishes are well executed and really good, others simply not. With a so high, claimed, restaurant level, a chef cannot mistake so grossly. In our dinner menu the octopus cooking was wrong, resulting hard and chewy. And the dry age duck breast more than aged tasted old. If somebody was checking the quality of the plates before being served, then he completely missed to check these dishes. Not worth the money.

Went here back in April and have been meaning to write a review. This was a fantastic experience. It's pricey, but you get what you pay for. The staff were so great, and the food was sensational.

We went on a Thursday night, with the pandemic still gripping Bali. The place was empty, but the atmosphere was perfect regardless. The 8 course tasting menu is perfection. French technique with a Balinese soul. The wine pairings were impeccable. If you are in Ubud, you must make room for a night at Mozaic.

This is the best place to pamper your other half with a great fine dinning experience! Their food was superb, at the level of a Michelin Star level. Chef Chris crafted dishes is beautiful presented and tasteful. Their service is way too awesome, the level of a 5 star review

Amazing experience! The food is impeccable and experimental using local ingredients allowing me to try new combinations that I have never experienced before! I also love how before every dish the local ingredients used are explained providing more insight into the flavour combinations. I booked last minute and I am very grateful they were able to accomodate the booking along with my dietary requirements. Staff is friendly, attentive and provided an amazing experience. Special shout-out to Chandra for giving me a tour of the grounds, the lovely chat and for clicking a few photos! All round amazing experience with fantastic food, would highly recommend!

The food is truly excellent and the service is just amazing. They keep really high level, everything is thoughtfully arranged and well organized. I love the fact that they guide you trough local spices and vegetables. Excellent experience!

My husband tried the vegetarian and I tried the other 6 course pairing. The service was nice and the food was interesting to try. However some of the dishes didn’t seem to be very flavorful - especially on the botanical menu. We liked how they used so many different flavors in a unique way but it didn’t always seem to come together well - almost too experimental. My husband barely touched his cocktail because he didn’t like it and he was never asked about it even upon us leaving and it still being 3/4 full. There are so many delicious Restaurants in Ubud, for the price and lack of cohesion on some of the dishes we prefer others.

Came back here for second time. First time experience was amazing (before Covid). But the service this time really upset me. It took forever long to receive our drinks. (Like they aren’t paying 100% attention to orders) and the girl asked me to mention her name in survey session. (I guess prob she wanted to have better performance or etc) it felt too intentional but I could tell she prob is still a newbie there. Manager was super kind and friendly. Overall I would still rate Mozaic #1 resto in ubud in terms of food. Amazing!

Truffle special was such an exemplary addition to the course. All dishes included local incredients and flavours so beautifully with international techniques that created a sense of comfort, familiarity but delivered in a truly unique way. A lot of things really surprised me in a pleasant way and found the experience quite fun and involved. Having a platter of fresh ingredients to showcase key ingredients was a great multi sensory esperience. It was also delighted to have the chef present some dishes also and meet him.

I went with a friend for dinner. The staff are friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We had the 8 course vegetarian tasting menu. The food was wonderful. So much care taken to flavour and presentation. I loved the assortment of ingredients they place on the table so that you can smell and touch some of the things that went in to each dish. My only complaint (not a real one) was that the 8 courses is secretly 12 courses (with 2 x canapés, amuse bouche and petit fours) and by the 5th course we were feeling very full! The two mains are fairly big portions so just bear this in mind when choosing your option! Would definitely recommend to friends. We probably spent about $350-400 Aud for food and drinks all together so very reasonably priced for fine dining. Thank you Mozaic! I have included just a few of the courses in pics.

Amazing Michelin-Star-like food. Spent a fortune on a really great 8-course menu with accompanying cocktails. Would highly recommend it to anyone liking such kind of food. Surely one of the best experiences I had in my life!

One of the most amazing restaurants I’ve ever been to. We opted for the tasting menu which was absolutely amazing. Sharing plates, great portion sizes and awesome variety. They have an incredible wine selection for all price ranges and so many delicious cocktails. They have lots of different dining options so we definitely have to go back and try again.

We had a great meal at the new chef's table dining option. The food was amazing and it's a lovely touch that you can see it all being made, the chef comes over to explain each dish and you even get a basket of the best ingredients so you can see/touch/smell them and learn about traditional Balinese flavours.

It was an amazing fantastic experience!!!! All dishes, snacks, drinks and dessert are an explosion of harmonious combination of familiar ingredients with local spices and herbs. Service, presentation - everything is at the highest level. Seats must be booked in advance.

Very attentive service - they want to make sure that it is an unforgettable experience - you sit on 3 different tables during the course of the evening. Atmosphere is also good. The food was good but not extraordinary.

One of the best meals I've had, ever! Across all countries. This was up there. We all had the vegetarian menu, and although none of us are vegetarian we loved every meal! The staff were so attentive, making you feel like VIP the entire time. Such imaginative flavours, textures, even moving locations for courses... Can't recommend enough!

Beautiful experience with well crafted courses using local ingredients. Such a smart way to present Bali in a modern expression on a plate. I took the 8 course seasonal meal, they allow others to take a different one on the same table, my friends took 6 courses which was more than sufficient. A good selection of wines, the better selection was reasonable while we skipped the pairing as they had 6-8 glasses for each course but the selection didn’t seem that attractive, with a lot of standard table wines. Also option of cocktails or natural wines. Venue was like a secret garden. There is also an outdoor area for smokers next to their smoke pit

Experiential dining at its best! We took an 8 course meal with wine pairing, and another with cocktail pairing. Every dish was perfectly balanced and you get more than the 8 course, since the restaurant also offers a welcome drink and light bites, as well as post dessert. Servers were friendly and they had some ingredients on display at your table, so you get to touch and smell some of the raw ingredients (fruits and leaves) that goes into your dish. For main course, we had the option to move the dining experience outdoors, so you get to enjoy some fresh air, take a short walk, and see the smoking of the meat. No mozzies. A lovely experience and great efforts were put in for the enjoyment and comfort of diners. Not many photos taken of the night, as it was much better to indulge in the dining.

Wonderful restaurant with a very clever menu. We had lunch today and tried their set menu and what we selected was excellent and will back for lunch late in the week. Considering cost I was elated with range and quality of food. Certainly a gold star place. Staff very professional. Chefs produced a high quality lunch. The duck confit and rillettes was best I have ever had. It is a high class fine dining restaurant but Mosaic is now offering a very affordable lunch set menu. This is a must try restaurant for lunch. The decor is beautiful and soothing on hot days.

French style food. Different table and atmosphere for the appertif, appetizers / main course and dessert. After 6-set meal , they serve one more dessert that’s a perfect ending for this dinner. Come to try , u will love it

Have had a great experience here. I will explain why in this review, so you can decide for yourself if it is for you. First of all, the friendliness of all the staff in the service. The service orientation, from receiving to leaving: everyone is friendly. The location. The interior: from reception to the dining room: everything is right. The colours translate nicely into the interior. The chairs are comfortable (not unimportant). We started with drinks in the anteroom and had dinner in the dining room. Only comment I have is that with us a rather noisy group of young people were eating. The dining room is small, so you quickly get these noises. They also have a beautiful garden, where we had dinner. Then the menu. We had the vegetarian 8-course menu. This menu has been put together with care and you can tell by everything. They start with a tray of ingredients that they use in their courses. Very nice element and also educational. You can ask questions about them in between courses. We had the vegetarian menu accompanied by mocktails. We found the mocktails a bit too sweet, the mocktails with cucumber was our favourite. The vegetarian dishes were super tasty. We had a great evening and would you like to experience this experience too? Go and eat here!

Mozaic is an experience! We started our meal in the lounge with cocktails and an amuse bouche. Then we went to the dining room for several more courses. We did the wine pairing which was excellent. For the main courses we went to the garden, then back to the dining room for dessert. The service was perfect and each course was intriguing. My favorites were the scallop and the third duck dish. The meal was pricey as expected, but the experience was one of a kind.
