We sat overlooking the river and was truly waited on. You can choose a multiple course experience and you will truly get your money's worth. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They ensured that you had a good experience. Loved every minute of it and would definitely go back! I didn't enjoy all the courses due to personal prefences but they are all really good and different.

While Kubu may not be a Michelin star restaurant, it certainly has every reason to be. My wife and I have experienced Michelin star restaurants before and Kubu was better! Between the food, ambiance and staff we couldn’t have wished for anything more. We ordered the 9 course meal with the non premium wine pairing and we were so happy we did because of how amazing everything was. The cocoon table is a must if you can get one so be sure to book ahead of time.

The Kubu restaurant is located in the Mandapa Ritz Carlton Reserve and offers a wonderful dinning setup in a cocoon with view on the Ayung river. Outstanding 11 courses, excellent explanations about the food, super friendly and helpful service. Good value for the money with 120 USD per set. Outside guests are welcome, I highly recommend that place. Unfortunately they not participate at Marriott-Bonvoy program.

This was such a memorable experience for both my husband and I. Beyond the food, the staff, the ambience, and the plating made the experience more special. They take you in a buggy ride from the hotel lobby to the restaurant. I was able to book a private cocoon in advanced and really recommend doing so. We did the tasting menu and really appreciated how each dish was though out and executed. It was also cute that the petit fours came in a basket that is woven exactly like the cocoon. Staff are so kind and professional. I know some reviews say the price is a little high. But we live in New York City and have paid so much more for tasting menus where the quality and service is not even close to Kubu. So I would say it’s definitely a must visit place in Bali if you like fine dining.

What a beautiful setting for a romantic evening. We were taken by buggy down through the exquisite property of the Mandapa, a Ritz Carlton Reserve hotel and at the end of our magical journey ended up at at the beautiful swift flowing Ayung River. We had booked a cocoon bamboo pod in advance (this is necessary), and everything I had heard about this unique dining experience turned out to be true . It was indeed a magnificent experience to dine at the edge of the river and one of these gorgeous handmade bamboo pods. The food was incredible. I had the degustation vegetarian menu which comprised of seven dishes. Each one was beautifully matched and flowed  in flavour, creativity and precision from one to the other. My favourite was the portobello mushroom dish proceeded by the pumpkin tortellini with pine nuts, sage butter, ricotta cheese and confit lemon. My partner had the gourmet menu which comprised of nine dishes. The chargrilled octopus with roasted eggplant chickpea mousse and olive crumble was his favourite. We met the charming and extremely knowledgeable sommelier who magically appeared after each dish and expertly described the paired wine. His little stories really made the evening.  We tasted fine wines ranging from Austrian whites to New Zealand savignon blanc to French and Italian masterpieces, to match the European flavours of the food. The presentation of each dish was a work of art in itself. As we were there to celebrate my birthday, the beautiful serenade inside the private cocoon pod by the gorgeous team of waiters and waitresses was a beautiful surprise. At no time was this dining experience over the top or too fancy. The beautiful mannerisms of the staff and the way that they make you feel so comfortable when dining is the experience that I will take home with me.  I highly recommend this fabulous dinner out for a special occasion. It’s on the expensive side, and well Worth it. A beautiful Bali experience combing nature and luxury.

We reserved one of their private cocoons and the experience was totally worth it. They picked you up with a buggy / golf car, and the way in is already breathtaking. I suggest to book an earlier time slot as much as you can so you get some good pictures before sunsets. The service is spot on - you can even charge your phone in the cocoon. One comment though is the female bathroom perhaps can do a bit of scent/fragrance.

We stayed at the hotel and knew we had to try this restaurant seeing it is ranked one of the best in Ubud. We were seated in a cocoon which was very nice and romantic.The menu is very limited and they were out of 2 dishes when we went. The menu also lacked a clear identity. We couldn't figure out if they wanted to be a French, Italian, or general Western restaurant. It was difficult to find something we wanted to order. Service started out very good but slowed down once tables started to fill up. They served us several small tastes before our appetizers came and all were good. The appetizers and main courses were all beautifully plated. There was nothing wrong with any of dishes but we also weren't wowed by anything.

The place is heavenly. Everything from experience, behaviour of the staff, variety of dishes and the ambience is superlative. Anyone travelling to Ubud should have at least one meal here.

This place is probably one of the best restaurant experiences we have had yet! The menu and style of cooking is out of this world. We could have eaten the plate; and did not leave a crumb behind. The staff was very professional, kind and caring. We visited Kubu after a full day of touring and got their within 40 mins of closing. They did not rush us once, we ordered nearly every item on the menu and they treated us so kindly (when I would have expected to see some sort of frustration since our dining went quite a bit past closing). They even got us a complementary taxi to take us home. Kubu you have far exceeded any restaurant experience we have had from food to service and all around A+++++++!!!!

The venue is sensational, breathtaking and extravagant from the moment you arrive to sitting down at the gorgeous restaurant. Definitely get a pod if you can! Food ranged from okay to good. Nothing exceptional. Same price in Aus will get you as good. The wine is horrendous and priced to the hilt! Cocktails are overly sweet.

Restaurant Kubu at Mandapa is a beautiful quiet serene place with a lovely view on the river. We had the most perfect 11 course dinner with a truly wonderful accompanying wine arrangement. The chef cook from Kubu is one of kind, never tasted such wonderful original dishes. All the dishes were just more than perfect of taste and looked outstanding. Everything at Kubu (overall Mandapa) is so perfectly taken care of. The architecture, the interior and outdoor decoration, the gardens, the Ambar Ubud Bar, the pool and an outstanding staff and service. The cocoon we were be seated at at Kubu, was truly beautiful and very private and wonderful music was playing. We were served by the wonderful genuine interested and very friendly and professional David and other very friendly professional staff. We would highly recommend this wonderful special outstanding restaurant in a very quiet place with a perfect view on the river in Ubud.

The place is absolutely amazing. Its right by the river. You arrive at the Mandapa hotel by the ritz carlton, then you take a club car that takes you all the way down to the restaurant. Our booking was in one of the cocoons which offers exclusivity and is very suitable for a romantic dinner. We had the nine course meal which was fabulous and very delicious from start to finish. The staff was very friendly and very professional. They even brought us a cake as a gift as we were on our honeymoon. Would recommend this restaurant if you are in bali. Its a bit expensive but worth it. If you are going to order the nine course meal, then be prepared to stay there for at least two hours.

Service & pace of the meal was painfully slow - 2 hours in and only 4 (tiny snack courses) of the 11 courses had been served (and we did ask, twice, for the pace to be picked up). Total dinner was 4 hours + . Also if you can’t keep up water / wine service, leave the ice bucket by the table. Overall despite nice food, it was a disappointing and frustrating meal. I’d suggest trying herbivore, room 4 dessert or mozaic instead. If you do go, and you’re not staying at the hotel, make sure to get a table before it gets dark as the surrounding are beautiful.

The location on Google maps for the restaurant is currently on the street corner which confused us a bit, you need to go up the side road and continue to the Mandapa Hotel. Despite just ordering mains we were treated to various complimentary amuse-bouches which were delicious. All of the food was perfection and we could not resist ordering dessert too.
