Outstanding!! The best time to visit this marvelous place is after 3 PM. You need to leave backpacks at the security building at the main gate. Lockers are provided for free. A shuttle runs frequently between the entrance and the monument. Around 3:30 pm, the change of guards ceremony starts from the front stairs. There is a long stretch from there to the main building, which the iconic tomb is, of coarse, the heart of everything. Museum entrance is free, and I totally recommend to visit it before closing time at 5 pm. There is also a gift shop and a cafe in the museum. The staff are very professional, and helpful. The whole area is kept extremely clean. I enjoyed every minute of my experience.

Here you will find the real great leader. He is so respected by the people if Turkey. Graduated student will bring their certificate to take photo here. Paying respect. Today I see a ceremony of respect to Ataturk - the great leader. Unfortunately my tour do not allow me enough time to see the museum (you have to spend at least more than an hour to see this Wonder museum). The view is amazing to all directions. I also see the guard changing.

Visiting the tomb of the first and the second presidents of the Republic, a big muniment where built to honor the memory of the nation great leaders and founders . The place is free, the museum is a must seen and you need to avoid the crowds during the weekends. The place is visited by hundreds everyday specially with the 100 years anniversary of the republic. There is a big car parking 🅿️, accessible to the public. The media center only with Turkish video displays with no subtitles , would be an advantage to have at least an English translation. The view from there to the City is magnificent and the garden surrounding the tomb monument.

Do not go on a sunny day, it gets really hot. The place is nice. Everything is free. The museum is really nice and big. The view is amazing. Must see if you are in Ankara.

Quite a nice place to visit. Entry is Free, thus crowded. Note that you cannot take bags into the area (bags can be dropped at the entrance or if going by car leave then there). The museum itself is nice to see. This only captures Ataturk history and not the full Turkish History. Two to 3 hours is enough ( if going by car ) , else to walk around from the gate , give it 3 hrs . Must visit if you are in Ankara .

A must visit nice place if you are in Ankara. Architectural and historical place, it's a public crowded place but well managed. They played anthem after some time don't know exactly when but during that everyone stopped with respect and listen to it, and that was a different experience. So quiet and its like time is paused. On entrance gate they took backpack and stored in a locker. Surrounding to the location you can see the street shopping places.

A must go when visiting Ankara. Be respectful and follow the instructions of the custodians. Visit around noon to afternoon to witness the changing of guards and a beautiful moment when everyone stand solemnly while the national anthem proudly playing under the Turkish flag. Amazing!

(Translated by Google) Great Turkish nation! You have heard my words promising success in the works we have undertaken for the last fifteen years. I am happy that in none of these words of mine, I have suffered a mistake that would shake my nation's trust in me. Today, I say with the same faith and certainty that the entire civilized world will soon recognize once again that the Turkish nation, which is marching towards the national ideal with complete integrity, is a great nation. I have no doubt that the forgotten civility and great civilized ability of Turkishness will rise like a new sun on the high civilizational horizon of Anatolia with its further development. Turkish nation! I sincerely wish you to celebrate this great nation's holiday with greater honor, happiness, peace and prosperity in every ten years that flow into eternity. How happy is the one who says I am a Turk! (President Ghazi Mustafa Kemal, 29 First Dec. 1933) (Original) Büyük Türk milleti! An architecture designed as bigger than usual human scale to illustrate the achievement of Ataturk. Extensive use of travetine as stone for the exterior and interior gives it a timeless feel. Come about 1130 to see the change of guards.

By far the best thing to do in Ankara. Free entry and a lot of history packed into one place. .A museum area is contained in a series of linked rooms surrounding the main building at ground level which tells history. . A great memorial for one of the greatest leaders of all time

It's an interesting place, but there's nothing to do here more than once. The history of Ataturk is more interesting to Turks, no interesting facts were found for me personally. The territory is large and well maintained. The guard is not the best, in many countries the guard works much more organized and accurate, but you can see. To be honest, I liked the parrots that settled in the building more, they contrast very sharply.

If you pass by Ankara and you like history, it's a must see place. The monument for Ataturk, the hero of Turkey. All free, a beautiful garden, audio guides in many languages. I met several Turkish people there and many children. They deserve more about their future. God bless Turkish people.

Massive mausoleum built in honour of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, leader of the Turkish Independence struggles, and first president of the modern Republic of Turkey. The monument is a compelling architectural accomplishment. The memorial tomb is located inside the mausoleum complex and is accessible to tourists. The exterior is an expansive breathtakingly picturesque space, with a good aerial view of Ankara from the mausoleum staircase. Anitkabir is a sacred edifice of modern Turkish history chiseled with poetic beauty. A very important landmark destination for visitors of Ankara!

Very clean and interesting to visit, a must see in Ankara. Organisation in the front entrance could have been better (no one told me about the free minibus that can take you up to the main building) and there should be english speakers everywhere if they truly regard this as a top site. Also, to get an audioguide you must have cash and be prepared to wait as the attendant isn't always there... There are also schoolchildren everywhere and on wreath day (no telling when these coule be) the guards will tell you to stand back and wait until the event is over. No pictures allowed to be taken in certain parts of the museum. The cafe downstairs within the museum doesn't have too many options of both food and seating. Overall a good visit especially with the snow.

Fantastic museum and mausoleum. Learned a lot about Turkey’s fight for independence and the horrible toll it took on the population. The museum is laid out well. The grounds are beautiful with stunning views of Ankara. Easily accessible from metro and free entrance makes this a definite go-to place when in Ankara.

We took a taxi to the site as it was nearly an hours walk from the hotel, which we converted to a £3 fare! The mausoleum was a very large but simple building in a huge square and parkland and it was pleasing to see so many people there to pay their respects. There were small museums on the site detailing aspects of the funeral and transportation of Ataturk's body and the whole thing was well done, no pomp or rampant nationalism but a definite sense of pride in his and the country's achievements.

Anıtkabir is a very special place for Turkish people. It holds a lot of sentimental value for the citizen of Turkish Republic. If you are visiting Ankara it should be a place to visit and you will learn a little about the Turkish history and the war of freedom. The museum part inside is okay, it is not too amazing however there are some good pieces. The museum shop closes early so if you are visiting afternoon you might want to check the shop section. During public holidays the place is generally packed, and during weekends it can be crowded too.

Turkey is a wonderful tourist destination packed with ancient monuments and natural scenery. Anıtkabir, a mausoleum is dedicated to the founder and first President of Turkey Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The construction was laid in the year 1944 and it also bears features of Seljuk and Ottoman architecture and ornamental details. This is a really amazing place.

I went here as part of a Rick Steves group tour (highly recommended!). This is a really important cultural spot so I can recommend it as a must-do while in or near Ankara! There is also a museum but we didn't have time to go in, we just saw Ataturk's book collection. It was quite inspiring to see everyone completely stop and stand respectfully for the National Anthem. And we saw the changing of the guard too!

Indeed THE best tomb! Been to many but none matches this grand style Tomb. Enter well before 5:00(closes at this time) since it takes time to see all of it. Sit for some time too here. There is a mini van service that takes people from gate to main building and it is free. Otherwise the walk is of 10 min and due to steep hill, it may be too tough! This servis will show you all of it and then drop you to main touristic attraction! You can also see over entire Ankara from here! At eact 4:00 they have a cermoney here everyday so I believe that best time to come here is 3:30pm! See cermony, look over the Ankara. And return!

This place serves as burial ground for the First president of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The actual burial site is located underground beneath the area where the coffin lies. There are guards located at the entrance and you will not be allowed to bring in big bulky bags and you will be asked to leave them at the entrance. Expect to spend around 1 hr at this place.

A large funerary complex honouring the founder of modern Turkey Ataturk is revered throughout Turkey and his mausoleum is here. It is well worth seeing if in Ankara. It is quite a busy site, as there are many Turkish tourists here, but the queues for security move quite quickly and the site itself is large. The tomb is a simple marble affair in a large temple-like building. There are museums nearby to give an idea of his life and times. It means a lot to Turkish people, but is worth visiting for tourists as well.

This place is the final resting place of not only the founding father of Turkey, Atatürk, but also the Turkish Army General and the 2nd President of Turkey, ismet inönü The site chosen for Anitkabir was known as Rasattepe (Observation Hill), which was a central location in Ankara and could be seen by all parts of the city. Time your visit to coincide with the changing of guards. The guards march with a unique kind of bent knee goose step and servicemen from all sections of the defense forces take part (navy, army, etc) so you can see several types of uniforms.

No words to describe such a great leader and a true patriot. Unfortunately the museum where his cars are is temporarily closed for renovation.

So beautiful and it has one of the best free museums I've ever been to. FYI, security holds random bags at entry and unfortunately this happened to us. No reason, they just choose at random. But we had no problems picking ours up again when we left. Don't miss out on the changing of the guard ceremony!

Free admission. Beautiful museum. Learn a lot of Turkey's history after the first world war with Mustafa Kemal Attaturk as a great leader. It is advisable to have sufficient time so that the explanation of each corner can be read clearly. There is a cafeteria if you need a drink or a snack.

Very beautiful mausoleum and one of the most famous attractions in Ankara and Turkey, it’s the resting place of the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his colleague and former president Ismet Inönü. The place is very big, it starts off with a big and nice garden that you walk it all the way to reach the historical complex. The place also includes multiple cars and boats of the president on show and a whole museum dedicated to Atatürk and the history of the Turkish Republic, which was really big and nice, and there’s section where you can’t take any pictures for some reason, that section displays some of Atatürk’s belongings. There’s also a beautiful show where soldiers walk across the mausoleum with very precise moves and discipline with harsh shoutings. The architecture of the mausoleum is very beautiful and elegant, and the usage of different kinds of fine marbles and travertines makes the place even more cool. And the place also has a beautiful view of the entire city as well. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in or near Ankara, it’s very much worth it and the best thing is that it’s free to enter.

During my recent trip to Ankara, I had the opportunity to visit the Ataturk Mausoleum, a significant landmark honoring the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The place is located on a hill overlooking the city and provides a stunning panoramic view. On the day of my visit, the city was covered in a blanket of pristine white snow, adding to the serene and peaceful atmosphere of the memorial. I arrived early in the morning and found the place to be almost empty, which allowed me to appreciate its solemnity and reverence. Access to the site is restricted, and security controls are in place, so visitors should be prepared for a brief security check before entering. However, the process was quick and efficient, and I felt reassured that the mausoleum is being protected. Once inside, I was struck by the grandeur of the place. The tomb of Ataturk stands tall and proud, surrounded by beautiful columns and impressive architecture. The museum inside the memorial offers visitors a glimpse into the life and legacy of Ataturk, with interesting exhibits and artifacts. Overall, my visit to the Ataturk grave was a moving and enlightening experience. The beauty of the memorial and the stunning snow-covered scenery added to the ambiance and made for a memorable visit. I highly recommend this landmark to anyone visiting Ankara.

We visited Anitkabir the memorial tomb for Mustafa Kemal Artatuk, dated 5th June 2023. Before we arrived here, our Tour Guide informed us that Anitkabir is a Mausoleum built to honor Mustafa Kemal Pasha, the leader and founder of Turkish Republic. Artatuk was also known as the Father of Turkey. And this monument was inniated by Turkish people for their great leader. As soon as we reached this place, we took photos at the courtyard. Afterwards, my sister and I went up to the hall of honor. Artatuk tomb is inside this hall. We walked down and slowly walked to The Roads of Lion. It's beautiful indeed. We took pictures there and soon there were many visitors came especially students from local University and school children. I was amazed with this place. The courtyard is large and clean. The Roads of Lion is beautiful. Ceremonial Plaza, Hall of Honor, Peace Park, Ten Towers and groups of statues had the same colour. I hope one day I can visit Turkey again. I ❤️ Turkey.

No other place in Turkey demonstrates the massive transformation of the country from an Islamic sultanate to a secular Republic, with a war of independence following world war one to massive modernization on the country. Leave 1.5-2 hours for perusing especially the large collection of Atatürk's personal books and i suggest reading all the signs and details at the museum.

The complex is characterized by a fusion of various architectural styles, combining classical Ottoman and modern elements. The main structure consists of a massive courtyard, ceremonial roadways, and impressive statues and reliefs. The mausoleum itself is adorned with symbolic sculptures and inscriptions that reflect the principles and ideals of Atatürk.
