We’ve been attending the school for over two years not, the staff is always great and caring and my son has been progressing well. Yet I’ve been trying to get in touch with Mike (the owner) for over two months with multiple requests to call me back with absolutely no response and only excuses received back (it’s Christmas, karate camp, he is hospital, he is on holidays) which makes me feel like highly unappreciated and unwanted customer. He puts issues to deal on his staff and not facing himself. Also, you would hardly see him in the office himself and there is no way to reach out directly, no phone number, no message, no any other way. The class price at this school is quite high comparing to other schools but service of the owner is obviously not up to the level. You are welcome to school only if you pay on time and no questions back to Mike. Highly disappointed, Mike.

I started at AMAF over two years ago to get back into martial arts and to try something a little different. First impression, it was a very family oriented club, it was fun, warm and non-judgemental - correction it still is! Over that time, I have met some wonderful people, made new friends and continue to learn each time I walk into the Dojo. For me, it is a place to go, unwind and forget about everything outside that door. Mike Waite and his team have been an inspiration for me to continue my martial arts both physically and emotionally. I've just recently obtained my phase 4 in Kali Sikaran, which has been a big achievement. My AMAF journey is still continuing, so what are you waiting for? Come on down to AMAF and give it a go, I promise you won't be disappointed. Update 2023. Since my previous review things have certainly changed. The arrival of COVID, life, rank change. My journey still continues. Mike, keep being the inspiration you are to me and those around you.

Amazing my kids have been able to develop their motor skills, their discipline which has lead to a massive boost in confidence. By Daughter has problems with a bully at her day care last year once I noticed this I had a chat with the kid and the teacher and my resolution was to take my daughter to karate so she can learn how to deal with larger kids who like to play a little more physically than her. Highly recommend this school or any of their sister schools around perth! I also trained here for some time, the culture here was very family oriented, I learned discipline and became fit at the same time, down to 9% Bodyfat at my peak training both kali and muay Thai. This resulted in being able to run 4-5x the distance I normally ran, self confidence boost, which lead to increasing my dating options. I made many friends who were on a good and clean healthy path of living. Martial arts became a form of physical meditation. The investment to look after my mind body and spirit was singlehandedly one of the best investments I made in my life. Many lessons came from this school. Thank you Shihan

Absolute rort this place, use at your own risk. Watch out for the 2 week shut downs in the July school holidays and over Xmas when they charge you for a service they don’t provide. Watch out also for the compulsory registration fee in July, watch out for the $35 grading fee which includes a new karate belt.

My son has been attending kids karate for about six months. He loves it, loves the teachers. They are fun but firm, engaging and great role models for our kids. My son is a very hyperactive child, loud and always been hard one to discipline. Since he started these classes his behaviour has improved a lot. To a degree it’s due to the discipline they implement at these classes and partially due to becoming more mature. Classes are great value for the money and I would highly recommend kids karate to anyone.

This place is honestly a home away from home. From the first time I stepped in 2 years ago to now the staff have always been the kindest and most supportive team out there. When I needed to start bringing my child to a class the team without being asked will try to entertain him once he gets bored of watching stuff on the tablet. It may have taken me awhile to start bringing my son with me as I wanted to get to know the people first but now it's just second nature. I can't wait for my son to start karate. I honestly couldn't be more thankful for them and couldn't imagine my life with out the amaf family. PS they are not a daycare, don't offer a creche service so always ask first before bringing a child with you.

Fantastic place to develop your martial arts skills. Excellent and very friendly staff. I have been coming here for almost 2 years now with my daughter and have had nothing but great service. Hope to commence my own training here soon.

I had an excellent first class tonight of Muay Thai. Mike runs a happy class of students, who are all welcoming. Can't wait for Friday nights session.
