The highlight of the night was luckily getting my car out of the car park next to Friends after it closes, because it closes at 10:30pm Cons: I ordered both degustation menus. One dish was a standout 5-star. The rest was underwhelming. I make a habit of going to all high end restaurants, and these meals have some catching up to do. There are are better restaurants at 1/3 of the cost. Pros: Great customer service. Great looking restaurant. Great presentation of food. ...but I go for the taste and texture and I'd sooner go elsewhere.

THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. When we arrived we were welcomed with a warm beautiful greeting, we were amazed by how nice the staff are, so caring and friendly. The food was absolutely incredible we were 3 of us and each one ordered different steak and they were all delicious. The starters are unique and well-presented. All tastes delicious. The service was beyond any words can describe, definitely one of THE best experiences of Perth. Let’s not forget about the other aspects such as cleanliness which was 10/10 and art and architecture 10/10 in particular the big painting on the wall. Stunning.

Friends restaurant has always been a favourite. From it’s origins in the Swan Valley until it’s current location, it is an excellent place to celebrate any special occasion. The food is superb, the wine list is amazing, the service is excellent and the staff are friendly. A wonderful fine dining experience!

This is my favourite restaurant in Perth. It is always great service here as is the food. We did the truffle degustation which did not disappoint. The only gripe I could have is there was not enough sauce with the main but I didn't ask for more. Matching wines are always lovely here too.

Last night was definitely an experience for my partner and myself. We had never been to fine dining/ high class restaurant before, we felt so out of place BUT the food was amazing. My partner had the lobster 🦞 and I had the kangaroo. We were given a few complimentary appetisers. Highlight was the soft shell crab 🦀 appetiser. We also ordered the abalone starter which was nice. The wine selection is incredible. My partner wishes you to extended you whiskey range. Staff were friendly and professional. The trainee that was on was doing a wonderful job. Good to see other staff who were training her be patient and help her. Would definitely come back.

Hands down, the most enjoyable dinner I've ever had (don't tell my girlfriend). Prior to tonight my expectations were already incredibly high. Friends had said it was incredible, they weren't wrong. The food was unbelievably good and the service was even better! My girlfriend is pregnant and they were more than happy to cater for her dietary requirements. They were also Covid19 responsible, even at the end of September 2020; groups were appropriately distanced. I've never eaten such succulent beef. I never knew how good sashimi could be until tonight. I never would have eaten roe before tonight but I'm so glad I did; it was delicious. Every course was a satisfying adventure into Japanese food. Now I know why it is so difficult to get a reservation at Marumo. It is an experience like no other. I cannot wait to go back!

Absolutely amazing in every way!! The food was divine!! We had the 8 course meal it was 100% worth it all the dishes were cooked perfectly some of the best food we have had especially the lamb rack. The service was lovely everyone was so kind and welcoming. Will definitely be going again.

Friends Restaurant is a good restaurant which is worth a visit. Food: 5 out of 5. The food is nice, not to say amazing, but it is good enough to give five star. The taste of the spatchock is delicate. From my personal experience, I think the cooking of the steak is better than the Meat & Wine's. Soufflé is not a bad choice for the dessert after the dinner. Environment: 5 out of 5. The dinning environment is good. It could be a romantic place for couples to have a dating. Service: 4.5 out of 5. For few times at that evening, I waited for a bit long (sometimes the waitress did not see me), the reason might be I was sitting at the corner next to the wall. Cleanliness: 4 out of 5. There was some wall dust on the seat, probably because I sat close to the wall. At the beginning, there was some stains on one of the forks. Need to improve on cleanness. Overall, the restaurant deserves visiting for diners.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a great experience at Friends and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. I've ordered a fillet of beef (medium) and my friend (medium rare). Both of our steaks were overcooked. I've talked to the staff and told and showed them it was overcooked. They took my plate away and said they will take it to the kitchen. A few minutes later a "new" steak arrived. It was exactly same steak just dipped in a sauce and arranged so it looked like a new steak. It was exactly same shape, cut in the middle and on the edge so I knew it was the same steak. No one came to check if this "new" steak was OK, no one asked us how the meal was afterwards (even when I left a very dry chunk of steak on the plate) as the staff very well knew what was going on. This is supposed to be fine dinning restaurant so I was expecting high quality meals and an excellent service. Unfortunately, my experience was far from it. I gave two stars as the starter was great but the main course and the service was a huge let down.

Although the reputation preceded and we were hopeful....anticipated good things...The food was really delicious...but service was perfunctory. Some explanations...some cheerful banter would have been appreciated. It was as though we were at a low level/average restaurant. We couldn't wait to leave only because we wanted more. Came in for a coffee to kill some time, such a pleasant experience!!!! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted. The young girl who made the coffee was wonderful, a little bit of a jokester which I loved!!! The coffee cup was so cute! As we were leaving we seen off pleasantly. Seriously recommend you going here. We are visiting from another state and this is the most loveliest we have been treated!

Customer service was amazing, unless you are relying on your server to create atmosphere between you and those dining with you...The servers are attentive and punctual but leave you to enjoy the company of those you are with which I personally prefer. Food was fantastic, though a little heavy handed on the truffle which I never thought I would say! We look forward to dining here again for another 5 courses!

I enjoyed a seafood degustation here recently. The food was all good, but wasn't bursting with flavour and the flavour combinations weren't very unique. The staff were quite friendly on arrival and departure, but the waitstaff did not give us the level of service I expected.

Had heard of, but never been. But booked in for our anniversary. Wow! 6 course meal during truffle season. Should have shared as the servings are substantial. Top quality, great service and excellent drink selection. Would highly recommend A++

Requested for vegetarian tasting menu. Really appreciated the effort to make it vegetarian specifically for us, however we did pay $135 each and was expecting a fine dining experience. The dishes were mediocre, all foods were just "cooked", no special cooking techniques, most savory dishes were just seasoned with salt and oil, no special ingredients (2 dishes had a bit of truffles in them), and most ingredients were ordinary and you can find in your local supermarkets. Foods were coarsely cut, and the presentation did not give me the "wow factor". Everything on the plates were seperate and i did not feel like they went well together. I feel like the tasting menu wasn't planned and prepared by experienced chefs. Both my friend and I felt like we would be able to season everything better. Also it would have been nice if the staff explained to us what was on the plate, as most of the time they just put the plates in front of us and left. It was a very underwhelming experience. I've tried many fine dining places in Perth and definitley had better. However, good ambience and staff were friendly.

Marumo is a very special place run by a very friendly young husband and wife team and their great staff. A little 20-30 seat restaurant that does a seasonal Japanese 7 course Omakase (think Japanese degustation) menu. And it doesn’t everything perfectly. I have been lucky to go twice and each time every single dish is refined, clean and absolutely beautiful. I can’t recommend Marumo enough! You need to book months in advance so check out their website for next booking window

Now it is very hard to book due to the popularity and the limited seating, it is one of very mysterious legendary places to dine in Perth. Marumo’s dish was very unique Japanese infused with Western breeze. (As a Japanese I would say it’s Japanese inspired food) 7 course meal was a great deal with only 75 box / pp, with a bit of corkage fee to enjoy your favorite wine. The service is always great too.

Marumo is our all time favorite. Food, service, staff and owners are all fantastic. Never miss an opportunity to go.

I went here for my anniversary and I must say, this is hands down one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The small and intimate dining area makes the service feel all the more personalised. The seasonal, controlled menu allows the chef to maximise each plate, where each dish flows beautifully into the next; the culmination of which is the sushi. The sushi provided an almost out of body experience and must be tasted by everyone at least once. Personally, at $75 per person for a 7 course meal plus palette cleaners is a steal and they should be charging more. I will absolutely be coming back and cannot wait to see what the next seasons menu will bring.

Since the menu keeps changing depending on the season. You wouldn't have the same experience in terms of taste on some dishes. Pro: 1. Overall good food 2. Quite filling at the end 3. Like the dish at the end which is a sous vid beef with cream potato and dessert that had hojicha flavour. Cons: 1. Didn't like baramundi fish that is just normal. 2. They charge $3.50 for BYO but I'm just being picky

Foods were really good and service was great. I couldn't give it 5 stars as place very small with limited number of seats. Given very little servings they did, the perfection was expected. This place takes fine food to the next level. The ingredients were fresh; the combination of flavours, texture, umami were amazing. Each dish built upon the crescendo of the previous. Five out of five stars will recommend. Definitely returning. Side note: bookings for this place sell out in under a minute - it feels like someone has written a program/bot to auto book...

A dining experience that takes your tasebuds on a journey that they will be demanding again and again, every seasons menu never fails to impress. Worth the effort to get that ever elusive reservation.

We booked and told them about dietary requirements. They had a gluten free roll prepared for one guest and I am told it was delicious. The other courses were served with flair. My best dish was the aged beef - possibly the best I have had. My sister loved the soup. We will be back !!

The meals were not only made with perfect combination of fresh lovely ingredients and the way how it cook were perfect, the presentation was such lovely pieces of art. They are also the wins & drinks expert! And some days there are live band! The atmosphere, food, drinks, the service are in the best quality you can ever expect! It’s so fancy but everyone is so friendly and makes me felt so relaxed and enjoyable. So spoiled with every single minute to be in Friends Restaurant. The whole experience were memorable! First visit to friends restaurant and I was supremely impressed. The food was fantastic and lovely. Complimentary appetisers were served, and I was also given some complimentary desserts for my birthday. Service was excellent - attentive without being intrusive. The decor and privacy of the dining area was also great. Enjoyed my visit very much and I will be back.

My Wife and I went Saturday night for an Anniversary Dinner for our first time to Friends . I was impressed even before I got there when I recieved the reminder email that indicated where to Park with good instructions. Service was spot on. Didn't feel like we were hounded or rushed. Staff very knowledgeable. We had the 5 course meal with choice of entree, main and desert. Food was excellent. Who would have thought bacon and pea soup would have tasted so good. The portions were great. I normally finish my wife's main meal but I was too full to have her pork belly, Devastated. Great night. Thank you for the great service. Highly recommend.

Look, aside from the absolutely EXCELLENT staff service and the good ambiance in this place, Friends doesn’t really have the culinary appeal to get us to come back. The price is through the roof as well, but quite understandable because of the location, but I was really let down by the average tasting food.

Amazing night out to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was fantastic, beyond our highest expectations. Service and hosting was first class, made us feel welcome, and comfortable. The complimentary dishes were a divine addition to this culinary experience, allowing us to dine alacarte, and also experience the amazing and varied skills of the chef. Truely a 5 star dining experience.

Went here last night. Food was good, staff attentive and music was brilliant. The old restaurant was more spacious though. The negatives were, there is no dedicated dance floor so people get up between the tables to do so, there were also more than a couple who were rather anebriated but they kept getting fed alcohol right up to near closing time. Of which these people represented some corporate body of which brings disrepute on that company When I asked one of the owners as to why they kept serving alcohol to these people, her response was to advise me that they weren't misbehaving, so it was alright and they close in another hour. This is not a responsible service of alcohol and not the answer I was looking for as they were an annoyance to our table due to standing in our view and nearly tipping drinks on us. Last drinks should have been called instead of feeding a bunch of alcoholics.. Like I said the food was good, but was we were disappointed by some people acting like oafs. Based on the owners response, we won't be back again and will look for another venue with a more mature clientele in the future that doesn't support the drinking habits of some over the respected dinner guests enjoying the entertainment.

Absolutely the finest dining in Perth. The food is exquisite, tasty as well as being beautifully prepared and presented. The highly trained and knowledgeable team along with the owners Clyde and Lesley will make you dining experience a memorable one. My partner and I decided to go to the Friends restaurant to celebrate a promotion. I have never experienced something so amazing. The food was breathtaking, the staff fabulous and the owner (I presume) is refreshingly genuine and created such a delightful atmosphere. Our experience was topped off with the staff bringing a ‘congratulations for the promotion’ dessert with a candle. I could not recommend enough.

I have absolutely no words for this restaurant. The service is absolutely amazing, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the food was out of this world. I highly recommend the Chicken option on the menu, you will not regret it. I have never had anything so buttery and soft. The soufflé was also incredible. If i could give this place more stars i would.

Took my wife for her 40th Birthday with 4 friends and was blown away by how amazing it was. The food was to die for and the staff were soo welcoming and friendly, they made us feel like real VIPs. It's hard to beat this kind of hospitality. Unfortunately I can't give more than 5 stars.

Went there with my partner Friday night and had the 8 course tasting menu. Flavours, quality and presentation of all dishes was exceptional. Front of house staff where clearly formally trained in the art of fine dining and service which was fantastic to see. The young Filipino waitress was absolutely fantastic, both myself and my partner are in the hospitality industry and we both agreed it was amazing to see someone still with passion for front of house service, not to many of them are left around. I was slightly disappointed to see such a high end fine dining restaurant allowing customers to sit down for dinner in shorts and a singlet and another couple came in, in gym wear. All in all food and service was great

I honestly do not understand why it was so quiet on a Friday night. The food was sensational, the wine was fantastic, the service was brilliant and entertaining and the sticky date pudding was honestly the best I have ever had!! Highly recommend!

Recently celebrated my 70th birthday with 14 friends and family in the private room, so glad we chose this restaurant, everything was perfect. Venue, food and staff were all top notch, everyone had a great night. Truly a night to remember thanks to the owners and staff.

Such an amazing experience! This is our first time to Perth and the service of this restaurant made us felts so nice and warm. They gave us a wonderful surprise with the awesome “bonus dessert”, and their boss gave us two flowers when he was on the way to open the door for us. You must try this restaurant when you are in Perth!
