Magical place...either for its potion or for its history. The exhibitions organized are always very interesting and particular, especially the latest one on Vincenzo Lunardi, pioneer of balloon flight and unknown to the people of Lucca themselves, but a very important well-known figure by the kings of Spain and England with their populations.

I took advantage of having some free time to visit the Lucca mint museum. I was thrilled with the guide's competence and you could feel his passion in every word he said. There are not only coins from the city of Lucca or Roman ones, there is a safe (which requires 3 keys to open it and in around 1700 3 different people owned it) then there is also a press or balance wheel for minting coins, very ancient and unique, always from the 1700s... I remember that the barracks are on the walls and that you can visit the museum from Monday to Friday during opening hours...

Truly very well preserved structure built directly on the city walls of Lucca. Inside I had the opportunity to visit the Mint Museum during a visit to the city for Lucca Comics. Truly well made, certainly appreciable especially for Numismatics enthusiasts. However, it is definitely worth a visit.

A rather underwhelming exhibition of a handful of Pinocchio ephemera. The museum lighting was too much and kept overloading the circuit breakers. The museum docents gave up and didn't charge admission.

Small but well-curated exhibition of coins, medals and plaster casts from the ancient Lucca tradition. There are also coins minted by the Lucca mint in past centuries.

One of the most important museums on the history of ancient coins and on the cones and punches for the creation of Italian coins and medals. still in operation for the creation of commemorative medals

I really want to give it more because the two men at reception were so friendly, but honestly if you aren't Italian speaking then the museum has zero value and I wouldn't go as the few descriptions are in Italian, but it is an underwhelming collection of items and we didn't know what we were looking at, didn't learn anything and just visually the collection wasn't that interesting or enjoyable. It was a waste of 20 minutes and I was sad we hadn't gone to a different museum (The Palazzo Pfanner was MUCH better and interesting with the medical instruments for example. No wait, situated in the city wall, friendly curator who communicated with gestures with us in an heroic effort to compensate for our lack of Italian!
