Our
stay
at
"Wine
&
Books"
Hotel
left
us
with
mixed
feelings,
prompting
me
to
share
our
thoughts
and
experiences.
While
there
were
certainly
some
positive
aspects
to
the
hotel,
several
drawbacks
left
us
feeling
less
than
satisfied.
Let's
start
with
the
pros:
1.
Nice
Room:
modern,
well-appointed
and
provided
a
comfortable
nights
sleep.
2.
Peaceful
and
Quiet:
If
you're
seeking
tranquility,
the
hotel's
peaceful
ambiance
is
a
welcome
feature.
3.
Clean:
The
cleanliness
of
the
hotel,
especially
in
these
times,
is
commendable.
4.
Proximity
to
Belem:
Being
close
to
Belem
is
a
convenience
for
those
interested
in
exploring
this
area
of
Lisbon.
However,
there
were
several
notable
cons
that
detracted
from
the
overall
experience:
1.
Distant
from
City
Center:
The
hotel's
remote
location
necessitates
reliance
on
Uber
or
other
transportation
methods
to
reach
the
city
center.
Unfortunately,
the
hotel
offers
limited
communal
spaces
(i.e
bar
and
lobby
area)
for
guests,
making
evenings
somewhat
challenging
to
enjoy
without
heading
into
Lisbon.
2.
Underwhelming
Breakfast:
The
breakfast
service
was
subpar,
with
limited
options
and
inconsistent
service.
The
hot
dishes
were
not
up
to
standard,
and
the
absence
of
a
coffee
machine
was
disappointing.
Additionally,
the
service
from
one
of
the
waitresses
was
unprofessional.
For
a
boutique
hotel
with
a
small
number
of
tables,
we
were
surprised
that
the
breakfast
experience
would
be
so
chaotic.
3.
Room-Related
Issues:
Our
room,
though
modern
and
quiet,
had
several
faults,
including
poor
shower
water
pressure
and
a
malfunctioning
minibar
fridge
that
emitted
excessive
heat
and
was
also
empty.
Moreover,
the
absence
of
shower
gel
and
hand
soap
is
inexcusable
for
a
purported
5-star
hotel.
This
is
not
a
budget
stay
/
hostel.
Unfortunately
this
required
another
visit
to
the
front
desk
to
rectify.
4.
Inadequate
Spa
Facilities:
The
hotel's
"spa"
was
minuscule
and
not
welcoming,
leaving
us
feeling
uncomfortable.
5.
Mismatched
Expectations:
Given
the
hotel's
name,
"Wine
&
Books,"
it
was
surprising
to
find
no
wine
(perhaps
as
a
welcome
drink)
or
books
in
the
rooms
or
anywhere
else,
which
seemed
misleading.
We
failed
to
understand
the
relevance
of
the
name.
To
make
matters
worse,
I
had
chosen
this
hotel
to
surprise
my
partner
for
her
birthday,
having
paid
extra
for
a
special
room
decoration
with
rose
petals,
sparkling
wine,
strawberries,
and
chocolate.
However,
upon
arrival,
the
promised
chocolate
was
missing,
and
the
fruit
plate
offered
seemed
less
than
fresh
perhaps
left
over
from
breakfast
(we
arrrived
at
the
hotel
at
4pm).
Despite
addressing
this
with
the
reception
both
on
the
first
night
and
during
check-out,
our
concerns
were
met
with
indifference.
In
conclusion,
our
experience
at
"Wine
&
Books"
Hotel
in
Lisbon
fell
short
of
the
expectations
associated
with
a
5-star
establishment.
It's
regrettable
that
such
disappointments
marred
what
was
meant
to
be
a
special
celebration.
I
would
not
choose
to
return
to
this
hotel,
nor
can
I
recommend
it
as
a
5-star
option.
