The Lisbon Astronomical Observatory is the Portuguese National Observatory and is a reference institution for establishing legal time and publishing astronomical data. It has a valuable collection and a precious library and archive. The appearance of the building and the surrounding area are frightening, as is the appearance of degradation and abandonment - a national shame!

(Translated by Google) Exterior very degraded. No information on site. It seems that it cannot be visited. It is a shame as it is a very beautiful building in a location with exceptional views. Also, it is a place with history that deserves to be treated better. (Original) Exterior muito degradado. Não há informações no local. Parece não poder ser visitado. É pena, pois é um edifício muito bonito, num local com um vista excecional. Além disso, é um lugar com história, que merecia ser melhor tratado.

Very interesting building in urgent need of investment/maintenance work in order to preserve the heritage present inside. Although it is mostly in good condition, it currently has some broken glass, damaged sun protections and water leaks into its highest dome.

A place with tremendous potential, like the entire Tapada da Ajuda complex, however, it is somewhat underutilized. Great views of the river and city, with the bridge in close-up.

We now hope that IPQ will finally allow the public to discover this unique national heritage, at hours accessible to those who work, unlike FCUL which only allowed visits from 4am until 5pm and by prior appointment.

Spectacular place, a true hidden gem in Ajuda. Our guide Bruno was sensational, he explained to us the entire history of the building, from its conception to its vacancy. Unfortunately it would need more attention and investment, as the building requires maintenance, but it is still special.

It's beautiful on its own way, the area around it is gorgeous

(Translated by Google) Beautiful 19th century building. XIX located in a pleasant green space in the city of Lisbon. The interior can be visited on certain days of the week. It needs another management, support and dissemination because the visit only allows you to see the beautiful instruments of the time. No interaction or explanations for visitors. The guide is voluntary but more is needed. The place is beautiful but it is underused. I couldn't see the main scope on the dome due to the rainy weather. (Original) Belo edifício do séc.

Very secluded and somehow eerie place. Access via the extensive park of the Agricultural Faculty of the University of Lisbon (Iron Gate). It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was haunted. đź‘» Definitely worth seeing.

I was here for a limited public event and I was quite simply amazed at the interior of the building and the contents. Old astronomical equipment etc. A great experience if you can get in on one of these very limited viewings.

We were hoping for a nice view, unfortunately we were disappointed. The observatory itself was closed and seemed a bit run down.

(Translated by Google) A nice complex which, however, is in an evident state of neglect (Original) Bel complesso che pero’ è in evidente stato di abbandono
