Our first visit to the park and we had so much fun! The fenced in beach was great. There were only four dogs there so it wasn't crowded. Our dog Finn (brown and white) loved playing with Tawny. We brought water for him of course but also brought a large bucket of water to rinse the sand and salt water off. We live in Frederick County but will definitely come again.

Between Quiet Waters and Downs Park dog beaches, Downs is MUCH better. Much more room for dogs to run and shade for people to stand. There is a fence around the majority of the beach which is great for escape pups. There isn't a fence by the rocks but it wasn't a problem for my escape dog. All the other sides had a decent fence. It only has a single entry fence instead of a double like other parks may have. I would be mindful of where your dog is at all times to keep them from slipping out the entrance/ exit. The $6 fee can be paid online or at the gate which I appreciated. Numerous walking trails and lots of picnic tables and grills if you want to have a meal. Great time for us and the dogs! Will be back again!

A beautiful park with gorgeous water views, beach access for people and a gated beach access for dogs. There is also a fishing pier. A lot of pavilions and hiking trails. You have to pay $6 per car to get into the park. Military/veterans are free. Swimming is not allowed.

My dog loved it here. There were a few other dogs here on a weekday afternoon. Most were too distracted by the water to even acknowledge each other. There is a short rocky/sand beach and it is fenced off into the water. If your dog is ambitious enough they could swim around the fence and leave so make sure you have recall down.

Small but lovely. Lots of driftwood benches on the beach. Steep staircase down to beach. Easiest access is from Fernwood Pavilion parking lot.

Great place to bring you’re dogs to play in the beach water, only complaint is that the stairs are bit Steep so if you have a nervous dog who need to first feel a place out that’s you’re no worry you’re going to be pull back up or pulled away down. Of course letting go of the leash would be the best option, but when you have it wraps around your hands cause you know how your dog is doesn’t alway come easy for new places. If they can do something about the stairs. My dad has a bit of a hard time going up and down on it, also the stairs start to get narrow on the way down to the beach area as well.

Really great park! Nice trails to walk, bike, or skate on. Plenty of places for gatherings. A nice little dog beach that is fenced in, plus always really great people and dogs.

The best dog beach I have ever been by far. Very clean and well designed for doggies. My dog actually learned to swim at this beach. Very shallow and safe. Besides the dog beach, there are a lot of areas to do picnics (some might need a reservation).

My dog loved this beach and made a lot of friends. My issue was with the park ranger, 1. She told us to turn off our music even though the music wasn’t loud at all 2. We tried to put our tent up and mind you it was a small tent, and she said that it isn’t allowed .. um ok I thought it was a beach … and both those things weren’t mentioned in the Rules btw.

We wanted to swim with our dogs so we thought this would be a great spot to do so. As we pulled in to the park, we found out that dogs are also allowed on the public beach as long as they use a leash. We were excited, but as the day progressed things went downhill. The dog beach was very small so we did not stay long. We headed next to the public beach and we were doing great until a park office came along and told us we could not swim at all at the beach. You are only able to stand at the waters edge! In addition, we had to take our umbrella down so our dogs immediately got too hot. So if you like sitting, not swimming and sweating it is your place!

The park is really nice and military gets in for free. Nice beach for a dog or two. The beach is very small for several dogs. Additionally, the time we went the water was quite rough. I wouldn't recommend small dogs to play during rough waters.

Amazing place a little far from where I am but definitely worth it The dog beach was medium size, not alot of people but did get a little crowded.(went today which is memorial day) few people had mask but majority were without a mask. They had a trail to walk and a park for the kids also fishing. $6 to get in!!😄 definitely coming back

Lovely park, there is so much to do and see here. From the ranger station with all of its animal and historical displays to the pier where you can use the little coin operated telescope to see the bay bridge and the ospreys. There are shaded nature paths where you can see a river and pond full of snapping and box turtles of all different sizes (maybe even a water snake if youre lucky). Or can see a neat little bird sanctuary with two of the nicest little birds you have ever seen. (My favorite is Twirly who the rangers have been caring for since he was injured in the wild.) then there is the wooded eco trail near the entrance that webs off in all different directions and probably stretches for miles. (Just full of lovely shadbush plants, blue tailed skinks, and some neat looking oyster mushrooms) And of course, there is the dog walking beach where you can meet some wonderful people and see some of the friendliest dogs you ever did see. I tend to frequent the park and if you happen to see me wearing a frog hat be sure to say howdy. Theres so much more that i could ramble on about with the insect and plant life at the park but i doubt it would all fit in here. EDIT: I meant to post this for the park proper. The dog beach is still amazing and all but i figured this review may be better suited for the downs park general page. My apologies.

A great place to bring your friends and family. Great peers for fishing and wonderful live music in the summer. Every Sunday night, 7:54 PM in the summer. If you're looking for a great place to hold up, have a picnic with friends and family, this is the place to go.

Love the paved trails through the woods and the views of the Bay Bridge from the beach.

Very cool park, both the beach and promenade and grass areas are fantastic for a relaxing and fun weekend The dogs had a blast and kudos to the park rangers, very friendly, professional and helpful with directions and recommendations of things to do.

Loves that the place was fenced in! If you have a runner they may look for a way to escape. Great gentle waves. Was getting a little crowed later in the day so I wish it was bigger or another part for dogs.

Cool breeze and beautiful day! Always feel like I'm the only one in the park even when it's crowded. Love the turtle pond! ❤️

Deep in the park. Off the beaten path. Down the stairs, you'll find this dog beach. Your pup will enjoy it here. Bring towels in your car and your own water.

Our dogs rated this dog beach 5 paws up. There is a dog beach for unleashed dogs and also a section of beach with sand for dogs on a leash. We would recommend bringing some beach chairs or towels if you are going to hangout in the leash section. Also, for the humans there’s to wading or swimming in the water but the doggies are totally okay. We look forward to going back and exploring the hiking trails and more or the park.

We wanted to enjoy swimming with our dogs so we thought this would be great. A few things to note that caused us to leave quickly. The dog beach is very small and so even one aggressive dog can make it uncomfortable. We tried the public section of the beach, but no swimming or umbrellas allowed. So if you want to swear go there

Moose loved his first time in the water. We were there on a Thursday evening and had the beach mostly to ourselves. It was clean and fenced in. Only thing I would add a spot for a fresh water hose to rinse the sand off the dogs and your feet.

This was our first time there. We had such a great time. Our black lab had a wonderful time in the water and checking out all the other dogs. My grandson enjoyed playing in the playground. We will definately be returning and try out one of the concert nights.

My dogs really enjoyed it here. This was our first visit. It is small and not fenced in by the rocks. Only $6 to enter. There isn’t a place for dog waste so you have to clean it up and take it outside of the dog park. I’ll still come back for sure.

My dog and I had a great time. She enjoyed chasing the waves. Other dogs enjoyed jumping in after balls. There are shady and sunny spots.

Just had a field trip with my child's school and it was a great day. The park is free for military and the bay water is beautiful to see.

Our first time making it past the playground and the fishing pier. I was surprised it is a chain-link fenced area with a gate so dogs can't escape the enclosure. While there is wheel chair parking nearby, the only access to the beach is a steep staircase. The path just outside is accessible though and there's a small area with a bench overlooking the beach. Just past there is a long ramp leading to a pier by a pond. No activity there today - mid-December - but expect turtles, birds, crabs, minnows would be visible in the summer

We have three small dogs that could not be let off leash due to the threatening nature of the big dogs that were. Very frustrating. Area is very small too. The park itself is nice with lots of views and trails. I would definitely go for a walk or photo op but not for the dog park
