So excited to try Pier since it’s opening and came for Restaurant Week! Amazing 10 course meal which was perfection from the beginning to the end. It was a sensory performance and worth every rand. Star of the show: The Table-side spiced and smoked Karoo lamb filet, pomegranate and North African spiced jus served with a slow roasted lamb rib, babaganoush and pearl couscous Be aware of the additional costs: R45 for water service 13.5% for service Loved the water side views of the pier and the incredibly attentive and knowledgeable service. Tip: come for the restaurant week menu to experience the best tasting experience. I left very satisfied and stuffed

Had NYE dinner here and Pier exceeded all our expectations. This is a MUST if you want to experience something fresh and exciting. Food theater at its finest without being passé, with a young and attentive supporting cast makes Pier the best restaurant in Cape Town. They are seriously firing from all cylinders.

Most incredible dining experience I’ve ever had. The numerous staff members were kind, knowledgeable, and worked beautifully together. We had the privilege of sitting outside, which I highly recommend. The fresh breeze and iconic harbor views put this meal over the top. As for the tasting menu, every bite was an explosion of flavors inspired by the sea that I feel grateful having tasted. Highest of compliments to the chef!! If you choose this restaurant, you should make a reservation. I hope you enjoy as much as we did. (We opted for the lunch tasting menu @ R900 pp)

Pier meal review - A symphony What do all great artists have in common? The ability to remove a person from the mundane and take them on a journey. Whether it is a great orchestral composer, painter, or poet. The artist excites the senses using the tools of their trade. That is exactly what you can expect to take place when you visit Pier Restaurant at the V&A Waterfront! We were taken on a sensory journey during our meal and as my wife aptly described it "witchcraft on a plate". Each dish was perfection, from the selection of ingredients to the plating there was nothing that could be faulted. The journey builds in intensity with each dish and there is no repeat in flavour profiles. From ethereal volutés to bold jus and vibrant nitrogen frozen kalamansi, you will be surprised by explosions of flavour, colour and texture at every turn. Each course transitions into the next and can only be described as a symphony on your palate. The service was second to none. Every waiter, manager or chef that you will cross paths with will make you feel welcome and as close to royalty as I can imagine royalty would feel like. Great service to compliment an amazing meal removes one from ordinary life and transports you to an alternate world where imagination becomes reality. Compliments to Head Chef John Norris-Rogers and his exceptional team at Pier, you are on your way to the top ten!

What a great fine dining experience. The food was amazing and some of the best I ever tasted. They are stiff competition for the other players in town. Definitley a place for a great date and an exceptional culinary journey. The service was amazing and did I mention the fantastic food and amazing view over the waterfront. I will be back.

An incredible chef’s dining experience with cocktails overlooking the Cape Town Harbour! Our favourite dish of the day was the Mussel and Black Forest ham. The staff were attentive and I loved that they noticed the small details (like providing a stool for my bag, rather than having it lay on the floor) Can you get anymore luxurious than Pier? Definitely not! 🙌

What a truly marvelous experience from the time you arrive at the entrance going up the stairs with the art work and then the View of the Waterfront and Harbour. The food was amazing, very difficult to choose which one was our favorite. Very attentive and passionate Staff and their attention to detail and service is truly what you would expect from this calibre of a restaurant. Definitely 1 for the books, a night for us to treasure. Thank you, thank you👏👏👏

Food was fantastic with an amazing balance between the flavours and the textures. The place is very nice and at a great spot in the port. Plus, the staff was great, enthusiastic and nice. What more can we ask for.

Wow this place was special. We are picky eaters with one budding vegetarian and neither of us eating pork or shellfish. The restaurant was so accommodating. Everything was immaculately presented with delicious ingredients. My husband enjoyed the wine pairing. Staff were highly knowledgable and helpful. It is expensive but worth it as a splurge. Overall, thoroughly recommend!

We had an amazing lunch at Pier. The flavours on each dish were spectacular. I absolutely loved the starter garlic herb butter on bread. The Malay style prawn curry was amazing and so was the gnocchi. The service was excellent and friendly. The only issue we had was that seating to others was quite close when the entire restaurant was empty, we would have preferred seating more in the middle even if that meant being away from the window and having a more distant view of the harbour.

I visited PIER with my two brothers in January of 2023. It is a unique, inspired restaurant located in the heart of Cape Town at the V&A Waterfront. Upon arrival, we were greeted with incredible views of the Waterfront, as well as champagne. PIER offers a well-thought-out and creative tasting menu that features many fresh, local ingredients. The talented chefs expertly employ various high-end and complex culinary techniques, including the use of liquid nitrogen and dry ice, to elevate the dining experience. Our visit to PIER was so memorable, not only because of the excellent food, but also due to the attentive staff who are clearly passionate about their careers. This was truly like a Michelin star experience, and definitely worth the price.

Fantastic service and food. Highly creative and tasty dishes. My only nit is that I would not recommend the caviar option, I sort of feel like it was not worth the additional expense.

The best dish on the pic, crayfish, pork and coconut spiced sauce. It was a good experience overall all dishes were good but not amazing, only the one on pic. Presentation of the dishes and the plates itself were chosen carefully which made the experience very nice. However, the food I was expecting a bit of more punch of flavor in most of the dishes. Service was friendly and very professional. Space was good though a bit noisier than expected, due to some tables with 4 people and above, we expected a more intimate venue. Overall experience was good but I would not repeat as we ended up paying close to 400 euros for 2 people.

One our best food experiences in Capetown, definitely on our list of best restaurant experiences ever. Amazing wine pairing with really good sommelier. Impressive alcohol free option cocktail pairing that they make themselves. Felt like 2-3 star Michelin star level, beautiful, amazing food with rich taste.

I don’t normally do fine dining, but this was a great experience. Great food, waiter and wine pairing. One of the best dining experiences, I don’t care about Michelin and hate pretentiousness, the waiters were able observe and react base on the personality of the guests, speaking to us more like a friend after just the second course. Unfortunately there were 2 incidents. First as a diner at such establishments I would expect people to keep their voice to a minimal level, yet there are tables laughing and speaking on top of their voice, can be better managed. Secondly, they helped kept my item and missed one of the bags out as we left, and instead of offering to send it to my hotel we were asked the next day to collect the bag ourselves. Luckily I was still around, couldn’t imagine if we had left Cape Town.

Outstanding wine and dine experience from start to finish. Pier offers an experience of a lifetime and in our opinion they would definitely deserve a Michelin star! Not only is the food delicious and inventive, you also get to witness some of the magical chemistry of the cooking process at your table. Our waiter, Gavin, was wonderful: extremely knowledgeable, attentive and full of finesse and savoir-vivre. He made our evening. Yes, it is pricey, no doubt. But you will talk about your evening for a long time. A big thank you.
