Food was flavourful, portions are served street food/ tapas style. Must try’s are the duck pancakes and pork belly. Disappointed there was no dim sum on offer. Drinks menu could be more inclusive for non alcoholic options.

My partner and I used to come here quite a lot and it never disappoints but this time sadly, it did. One of the reasons I love coming here is because of the intimate feel and decor. Duck was on the menu and some other new items. Most of the new items were not available but this rice paper roll was delicious. The dumplings are always consistent and tasty but it really fell flat with the duck and especially the pork. The pork was quite bad. As you can see in the picture, the pork belly isn’t cooked properly. It honestly tasted like cold fat. This used to be our favourite dish so we were disappointed. We got a duck wing and the couple next to us got the duck leg which is the cut you would usually serve. Don’t know if you can charge the same price when someone gets the wing and another gets the leg, two completely different cuts. I understand wastage is a factor but the wing was unpleasant. Just wasn’t great and would obviously have preferred the duck leg which I’m sure would be more tasty. Don’t think we’ll be back again and we used to go every second month 👎🏼

SO SO GOOD! The food was delicious and it was so fast. We sat at the bar and it was fun to watch the busyness in the kitchen. The smacked cucumbers, salt pepper prawns, duck dumplings, and Mongolian chicken were all phenomenal. Can’t wait to come back again.

Tomson is absolutely wonderful. The wantons are outstanding, especially the duck ones. The smacked cucumbers are a dream. In fact we even dreamt about them after eating there, and had to come back for more. The staff is great, and the chefs bubble with positivity. An underrated gem!

Quaint & authentic Cantonese restaurant that serves a small bit spectacular menu. Enjoy Chinese street food in this warm setting.

Nice casual / cool vibe, & mostly very good food – with just a couple of missteps. Particular high points are the smacked cucumber, which is delicious, as is the steamed fish. Some of the best fish I've had in Cape Town. Wontons are pretty good, though they come in a somewhat under-flavoured broth. (It looks spectactular! So heady and intense... and just tastes of light broth.) I liked that the greens and rice come together in a single item, but the rice itself was mushy and overcooked. For a Chinese restaurant, you'd think that would be a firing offence. Still, overall a very enjoyable experience. Too expensive to be a regular for me, but definitely worth a try.

The food was so nice so I couldn't resist but ordered more even though I was alone😂 The price is reasonable compared to the high quality.

The food is incredible but the restaurant lacks atmosphere and "vibe". The place is tiny and stark in terms of décor. This was probably intentional but I really don't think it works in its favour. If you just want delicious Cantonese food then you've come to the right place, though.

The best Asian food in Cape Town served in a tiny, buzzing space with genuine hospitality and sharp service. Even when there is chaos outside on the busy streets! Bloody top notch!

HIDDEN GEM we booked a table of 7 for my sisters 25th birthday and could not have made a better decision. Upon entering you are greeted by friendly faces and the best atmosphere, it’s a very small restaurant which made the service and experience more intimate and special, we felt very looked after and well catered for with beautiful aesthetics and ambiance it really is a hidden gem. Our server Hannah ( who was EXTREMELY knowledgeable after being hit with our 75 questions 😂) could not do anymore to make us feel special and looked after it made the experience personal and extremely enjoyable. The style of small plates works super well for sharing. I don’t eat meat and as a veggie was extremely catered for, The food came out extremely quickly, it was hot , fresh and delicious. (Which is rare for this type of cuisine now days) Would 10/10 recommend the wontons and shiitake soup. Massive bonus the place is affordable which isn’t too common in the town area. Will definitely be back for date night very soon. Only thing I would recommend is improving the wine list, and maybe adding some deep fried bananas to the desert menu 😝. we did bring in our own bottle so wasn’t a problem. Thanks so much to Hannah and her team. 🫶🙏

Tomson was a last-minute resort for a craving of noodles and kimchi. Originally planning to visit Bodega Ramen around the corner, we were told Bodega didn't have any availability that night. The young lady recommended Tomson. My goodness was she on to something! I'm glad we made that 5-minute walk around the corner. Despite Tomson small establishment, the food was bursting with flavor and extremely affordable/inexpensive. The waitress was polite and quick on her feet to get us a seat at the bar. The food came out quickly, and most of the individual sitting in the establishment seemed to be regulars and made themselves at home. It felt like eating noodles right back at home. If you're in need of a good meal and craving some Asian and want to hang out with an old friend or a casual date; Tomson is the place to stop by!

My experience at Tomson was fantastic! The food was superb, the ambience was delightful, and the prices were reasonable. However, despite reserving a table for 8 four weeks ahead, we encountered a snag: our table only had seating for 5. Although this affected our experience, the delicious food and inviting atmosphere compensated for the inconvenience. I highly recommend Tomson.
