Beautiful unspoilt scenery and the most amazing displays of nature’s beautiful flowers. Fields of colour as far as you can see. Set aside a few hours to drive to all the different viewing points. Make sure to take along food and drinks for your trip. Many of the roads in the park were dirt but were quite manageable in an normal sedan.

100% recommend going to see the wildflowers in bloom over July/August. It is truly spectacular. Take a picnic with you and you’ve got an amazing day out along the West Coast if you’re combining it with a trip to Langebaan.

One of my favourite places. Firstly don't come here expecting lions and dinosaurs (Like many tourists), come here to be within Pristine Nature. Entry fee is R105 (Sep 2023) for SA nationals. The Park is huge, there are public braai facilities in some places. The best one is in Prekestol. In Aug/Sep the Postberg nature reserve located within the park is opened due to a magnificent bloom of wildflowers. The Lagoon is perfect for a lazy swim. Many birds can be viewed inside. Also if you're lucky you can spot Cape Zebras, Ostriches and different Boks. Be very careful while driving inside the park. Small mammals, crawling insects and Tortoises cross the road frequently.

We visited Postberg section of West Coast National Park on 23 August and the flowers were absolutely spectacular! Some sections had so many, one could mistaken it for white snow or yellow blankets. Definitely not to be missed and within an hour’s drive from Cape Town, a lovely day trip for the family or with friends!

The park was nice and clean and the roads are well maintained. Entrance was R100 for adults. The flowers in Postberg was a bit disappointing although it was a sunny day, so not sure why some weren’t really open. (Edit to add: After some research it’s best to go midday.) It is very far to drive in from the Langebaan entrance gate. Also didn’t see much wildlife. Perhaps another time might be a better experience! Visited on 21 August ‘22. On 9 April ‘23 we visited again for a braai at Tsaarsbank. There are built-in braai areas with spectacular views of the atlantic ocean!

We love heading out to the beaches in West Coast National Park. Secluded and doesn't get too busy. Be prepared to pay entrance into the park and ensure no alcohol or glass is brought. But it is truly a stunning setting and is ideal for kids as even at high tide, the water stays quite shallow. There are toilets available although the construction has taken a long time ( almost 2 years) but currently there are portable loos available. Great place to get out of the hectic Cape Town wind and enjoy the tranquil beach. Be prepared for a relatively steep climb but it is mostly boardwalk. Park opens at 7 in summer and closes at 7 as well. Great park to also see the flowers in September as the fynbos shines during thos time.

Throw fuel in your car beforehand, cause it requires driving to different destinations in the National Park. The beauty has me speechless. Nature lovers, I highly recommend.

Popped into this park to go catch the flower season. This was towards the end of August on an overcast day. Beautiful flowers but not too many were in full bloom. Whilst driving in the park I saw different signs for private accommodation, hiking trails, bird watching spots, water activities and boat house homes. It looks like you could really plan something extensive for a longer stay. The entrance for a South African was R104 at the time of my visit, and around double the price for a foreign passport (I think I saw different prices for those holding African passports nearing the South African national price.) It also seemed that regardless of using one of the accommodations an entrance fee was required. When looking at the flowers unless you stop to take a walk on a designated path you are required to stay in your car or only take pictures but the side of the road so as not to damage the flower beds. It may be worth requesting a map to see where all the walkable spots are.

40 years old & my very first time visiting the National Park. Fantastic scenery & even more amazing views especially from the Uitkyk Picnic Spot. So much to see whilst driving through & around the park from flowers to Zebra, Ostriches to Tortoises. The Atlantic Lookout point has amazing views of the ocean & braai areas. Definitely going to return again soon!

One of the best places to spend a Cape Town summers day, worth the R70 entry fee. I’m coming back here at least twice every summer.

Wow just wow! Had no idea SA had something as gorgeous as this- especially in the Cape where most beaches are just too cold for KZNers like myself to enjoy. But really the Kraalbaai beach area was warm and so lovely. the drive there is scenic too. We even saw a few animals in and out of the bushes on our drive in the Park. Highly recommended 👌 💖

Missed a caracal crossing the road😢 but discovered two beautiful stops; Kraalbaai and Tsaarsbank. Absolutely gorgeous, waters looked like you were in Mauritius. Tsaarsbank has clean toilets and braai facilities. Definitely returning to enjoy it more. Hidden gems

What a beautiful place. Haven't seen much animals, but I'm sure they are out there. The water is Caribbean blue, could not believe it. I'm sure during the time the flowers start to bloom it looks amazing. Surely a recommendation.

The flowers are so beaitiful this year and was such a lovely day out in nature and take a drive through Postberg. Best way to enjoy the park is from the R27 gate entrance. For me it is more beautiful than from Langebaan while visited last time in december. Entrance for SA Adults R104 pp. Lots of bird species, bucks, zebras and ostriches. Also braai and picnic spots available. If weather permit, kraalbaai beach is awesome to be, i usually go in summers as kids love to be there. Next 2 more week going to be awesome flavours in the park.

Beautiful and peaceful. We did the 14 km Geelbek hike and only struggled with finding the markers to get off the beach. The rest pf the route was well marked and enjoyable but extremely hot.

Wonderful day trip which we combined with a stop in Darling to see the orchids at Duckitt nurseries. Pack a picnic and enjoy the nature reserve; our favourite spot being Preekstoel beach. Flower season is August and September, for good flower viewing be sure to go on a sunny day between 11 and 4.

🎶🎙️Flowers 🌻🌺💐 flowers🌼🌷🌸 everywhere! In my garden in my hair!🎙️🎶 Perfect weather for flowers sighting and a little rocky hike outlooking the beautiful lagoon of Langebaan and Saldanha Bay. Stunning flowering season over past 6 years I reckon at Potsberg, West Coast National Park as the rising high tide gradually covered the rocky beaches with a gentle, crisp breeze. The floral scent was exquisitely rejuvenating to one's soul bringing life and hope across then natural fertile landscape💚 Perfect family outing well spent and planned❤️

The flowers are not so good this year but still a nice day out in nature and take a drive through Postberg. Best way to enjoy the park is from the R27 gate entrance. For me it is more beautiful than from Langebaan. Entrance for SA Adults R100 pp. Lots of bird species, bucks, zebras and ostriches. Also braai and picnic spots available. The Geelbek restaurant was a great disappointment since we visit it a few years ago.

This review is specifically about the Kraalbaai beach and not the park as a whole. The beach is located on the Langebaan Lagoon just before the restricted gates of the Postberg section. The beach is extremely popular and it’s easy to see why so come very early if you want to get a nice spot. We queued for over an hour on an unbearably hot Cape Town summers day on the West Coast road just to gain entry to the park and most of the cars queuing were also headed straight to Kraalbaai beach!

I cannot believe such a majestic place exists in our country and yet little is know of it. I strongly recommend that a stop here should be included as part of a Cape Town and to pay a visit to the town of Langebaan close-by. The park has many beautiful animals and viewpoints such as Seeberg and the Atlantic Ocean.

An excellent nature reserve to visit. If you wanting to get out of town pack a picnic and make a day of the nature reserve and all it has to offer. In season the flowers are out in full force and it makes for great views and pictures. Make sure to take your allergy medication if you need to. There is plenty of different spots to explore. Take it slow and make sure you packed in the sunblock.

Wonderful place to enjoy the flowers and the view,🌷🗻 make sure that you research the correct time of year to go, as the flowers obviously aren't out in season all the time. But it is an absolutely beautiful place to go to, and the view is a killer. The sea is just so nice as well, and if you ever get the chance to go swimming in it or even sailing on it, 100% do it!! The ocean temperature is quite nice during the summer, and it very refreshing to swim in, I recommend taking some towels and clothes to get dressed in afterwards. When the sun goes down the temperature drops a bit but it doesn't get freezing, so if you are staying there overnight, pack for summer, but also make sure that you pack some warms clothes incase the temperature does drop with Global warming going on and all. But other than that enjoy the experience of the fresh clean air and the beautiful flowers and the refreshing taste of nature. If you are going with family and friends, make sure you bring some food with, that is a must have!! If the restaurant is closed you are going to get hungry, and there are also toliets all over the show, so don't worry about going to the bathroom.

This place is beautiful, I really hope it doesn't get too popular and crowded. Peaceful relaxing day at the beach. No need to worry about your things being stolen. Do watch out for the tides come in fast, make sure you take your keys out your pocket as you walk through the waters after they do 🙈.

Had a lovely time at the Lagoon of the National Park . To enter its R70 for an adult and R35 for a child . A long drive in to the lagoon , approximately 25 mins from the entrance of the national park . Other wise its wonderful currently they in the process of building toilets other than that the beach at the lagoon is great .

We saw snakes, tortoises, ostriches, and buck. The highlight was seeing sandsharks in the Langebaan lagoon, which is in the park. We were literally standing over them as we walked in the water. There was a stink over the lagoon due to the rotting seaweed, but the rest of our experience made up for this unpleasantness.

After last year, when we went on a weekend, when the queue to get in was so crazy long we decided to try weekday. What a pleasure... although there was still a lot of people it wasn't unpleasant .the flowers were magnificent, the animals were out to play we saw buck , zebra ostriches a Hawk and even a dung Beatles. We were impressed by the toilet at the lookout point , santitzer outside and spotless inside with more than enough loopaper. Big shout out to the staff and gamrangers for a well run, safe park.

September is the month to see the flowers. Entrance fee payable. They provide you with map. Follow the directions on map. Flowers is about 20km from entrance. Stunning display while flowers are blooming. To get to flowers you have to go on dirt road ... with lotsa potholes .. so don't overload your car.
