This is one of the best restaurants to try in Stellenbosch. We went there for dinner and will definitely be back. The ambiance is very pleasant and the food is delicious. The environment is unique as well. They also gave us some complimentary chocolate vodka shots which we absolutely loved.

The service was sub par from other Hassar Grills I have been to. Sadly the meat was very bland, However the sides were delicious and healthy portions. Luckily the decadent desserts saved the day from being a total bust.

We were heavily disappointed by this restaurant tonight. Sitting outside there was an odour from dustbins close by. Also we had a cockroach landing on our table. The food was good, but not as exceptional as it was before. In the past this was our favourite steak ranch in town, but ever since another one opened, Hussar has been losing its flair. Tonight was most likely the last time we would go here.

The service wasn't good, upon arrival the manager looked at us like we were lost, we even had to ask if they were open for him to show us where to sit, he really made us feel out of place. It was a Monday afternoon, around 13h00 and the restaurant was empty. The waitress and waiter that took over, were wonderful, they were the saving grace we needed. The food was great.

Our waitress was fabulous! The food was good. The wine was fabulous. We got a bunch of sides that we really enjoyed and the meat was great. Corn side was really tasty. Greek salad was just okay but everything else was amazing. Got custard and Don Pedro for dessert and both were great. Waitress brought us great end of the meal chocolate vodka shot. Waitress joked with us whole time and put up with corny dad jokes. They also bring you greek olives and potato crisps to snack on while you wait for food. A little pricey but not really bad when you compare what you get for the price. We would go back.

We rocked up without a reservation. But, luckily we went early so the place was not full at the time ⏰. We were seated outside under the tent area. The atmosphere quickly became lit and the happy chats echoed around the tent. There is outside heating which can get very hot 🔥. The staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. And our waiter was great. The food was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. All in all, a must visit when you are in the Stellenbosch area. 💯

The Hussar is always a great experience. Service is attentive and friendly. Ambience is warm and cosy, yet private. The tables on the courtyard are special, bringing in both a continental atmosphere and the local flavour created by passers-by and street performers.

We stopped for an impromptu lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I tend to avoid the franchise type restaurants. Service was exceptional, the food was delicious and the pricing excellent. I will be happy to return.

Hosting was OK. Place not family friendly, we managed with our small kids. And food was OK. Waiter didn't ask how I want my steak, she assumed I wanted it medium and I like it medium rare.

We were excited to go out to dinner here but we're a little let down. I ordered a medium rare rump, which came out well done but they happily redid the steak for me, unfortunately it came out Blue. While the service was great and we enjoyed the night, I was a bit disappointed that a steak house struggled to serve a great steak. However, things happen and we would still go back for more, as well as try many other great looking dishes on the menu.

The service was OK, they kept us informed of any delays, but waiting an hour for steak was a bit too much for me. When the steak came, it was just fat, even though I ordered a fillet. My friend ordered the same as me and theirs was a better cut than mine. It was Valentines day, so maybe this was a factor perhaps? It just felt like we were an inconvenience. I feel there is better places to eat in Stellenbosch, with better and quicker service.

The key to any good restaurant is consistency. Consistently serve your good food the same way, people are creatures of habit. The service has to be consistent. No matter who serves you it needs to be to standard. And the Hussar grill in Stellenbosch meets the above. Great meal all around and great service from beginning to end. Absolutely delicious! We ate there 3 nights our of 4 we spent in Stellenbosch. There's no corkage, amazing steaks, great dessert chocolate by death, very good service and a fantastic manager. Would definitely be back again!

I was quite impressed with this Husser Grill. From the moment you enter you welcomed with a warm greeting. The waiter Shaun was just amazing. He ticked all the boxes from being polite, friendly, checking in from time to time asking if everything was OK. He always smiled as well. The food was perfect quality. What a perfect experience. I will definitely recommend this Husser Grill to anyone.

Myself and husband have had a fantastic lunch experience. The steaks were tender and tasty, the sauces lovely, and the sides delicious and perfectly cooked. And the service we got from Ajay... First class!

What an amazing experience. Had dinner there this evening. When booking our table we were asked if the booking was for a special occasion. Didn’t expect a card waiting for us at our table wishing us a happy anniversary with complimentary sparkling wine. Went the extra mile. Conrad, our waiter, was also great. Fillet and burger cooked to order which is rarely done right. Will be back when in the area again for sure.

Went for their 'date night' on Tuesdays and I'm really impressed. The Hussar Grill red wine was so good and the burger patty top-class. For this special, you can choose 2 out of 3 courses and I would suggest to go for the starter and main in stead of the main and dessert (as we did) because the chocolate martini at the end is sweet enough on its own.

Service and food was excellent, friendly staff and a good atmosphere and Vibe for group or couples. Will definitely be coming back.

When you walk into this place you immediately know it’s going to be a delicious feast. The service is great with friendly staff. I ordered the Kingklip and I would order it again and again. It was flavory, juicy and just fantastic. What made me give them an extra star was the complementary chocolate vodka shot at the end of the evening. They definitely know how to keep you happy and full.

Best steak ever

Nice ambiance, great steaks cooked to perfection, very tasty sauces. Side dish size of veggies was a bit small. The waiter was very attentive. There was a hot chocolate shot on the house, absolutely yummi.

Excellent lamb shank. The meat was tender and juicy and easy to pull off the bone. The red wine jus was nice and sweet and a good compliment to the meat. Everyone in our party was happy with their meal. The Caesar salad looked delicious!

The experience was extraordinary. The steaks was phenomenal perfectly cooked with great potato fries. The desert drinks and cocktails was also great and great value. They also provided complimentary chocolate shots. The service was also great with a cozy atmosphere.

Poorly today is the last day in SA for us. Our Trip ended in Stellenbosch - so we looked out for a nice restaurant to celebrate the last day of holiday. We had no reservation, but got a table outside at the street, which was good. Today it was very hot, so sitting outside was a pleasure. After looking in the wine card we were not sure which wine would fit to us, because we prefer sweeter white wine. Our waiter Duncan was pretty attentive and served us a white wine in a small glas for tasting. He matched our taste, so we found our wine. Then we ordered a rib-eye for me and the chicken parmesan for my girlfriend. It was really good, perfect done and so delicious! There was always somebody, who asked if we need anything and at the end the manager came to our place and talked a view minutes with us about our trip and gave us some tips for the time when we come back to SA. At the end our waiter served us a south african shot on the house which was really tasty! So overall it was a perfect evening! Thanks a lot!

I specifically called Friday afternoon to book a table for the evening as I know it gets busy. Arrived and inform the waiter of our booking to which he tells the manager. It's clear at that stage the entire restaurant is at capacity and I'm left wondering what the problem is. The manager on duty was useless and left us standing there for 10 minutes without any feedback. Eventually when I did approach him and ask what's going on he informed me that "they're sorting it out." This hardly inspired confidence. Thankfully for them the quick thinking host arrived and seated us in the alternate tapas section. While this was a welcome relief I can't understand what the point was of booking a table just for them to give it away when they're busy. The tapas section was alright but service was slow and the food quite average. For the prices it'd be worth going elsewhere for dinner. I was sorely disappointed in this place having always had a great experience at other branches. The steak roll is possibly the smallest roll you'll ever come across. Meat was well cooked but the portion size left me questioning if they're serving 3 year old or adults.

Had a light dinner at the tapas section of Hussar Grill in Stellenbosch, very cosy and stylish area right next to the main restaurant. Excellent service by Duncan (loved the playlist). The atmosphere is good. Service is perfect the waiter was attentive and friendly. The place is also clean and well kept, it’s also a small restaurant and tables are very close together. . Food is not wow, just okay in my opinion. However dessert was amazing. I had the traditional malva pudding. They serve it with custard and ice cream.

Great service just now from Clinton, the steaks were melt in your mouth, the ice cream with marshmallow desert was gorgeous and the chocolate vodka martini has to be tried!!! Highly recommended place to go!!!

Not someone for bad reviews. This was not the greatest experience. 2/5 orders were incorrect due even though it was written down. When we mentioned one of the burgers had avo on it and the lady cannot eat avo, our waiter (shaun) picked up the top bun with his bare hands to check??? This is very strange, this is not normal behaviour even more so not in Covid times. The same bun returned and still had avo on it. This should not be happening. The beer was cold and great, the steaks were beatiful and to our medium rare satisfaction. The chicken livers and calamari strips were excellent.
