Visited the Fireman's Arms for the first time today. And what a surprisingly good experience this was. This is the first pub I have visited in South Africa that has given me a proper feel of a pub. We had the best waiter in the pub, Johnny, and he was very attentive and took good care of us. The food was excellent and much better than your average pub grub. I will definitely visit again next time I am in Cape Town.

Great place. Has had a bit of a facelift since I was there the last time - probably 20 years ago - but some of the legacy has been retained. Food is yummy and there is a good selection of beers.

What a historic venue. The sign says 1864. The venue is much bigger and spacious than it looks from outside. Great atmosphere, perfect for bigger groups (we were 34) and very much central Cape Town. More than enough parking and very proffesional service.

Good old establishment. Large beer selection. Really well prepared if a little pricey for pub style food. Varied selection of meals. Had great service, friendly efficient. Liked the on tap Guinness and tank Castle especially.

Was really a great experience. Bar lady is wonderful. She speaks German and we had a wonderful time enjoying the football. Will definitely recommend Fireman's Arms if you want good service, with some good food and some drinks.

We had a very pleasant experience. A classic pub atmosphere, perfect for watching sports and having a drink. The food was also quite good.

We went for Sunday lunch although nobody ended up having Sunday Roast, food is really good, portions are massive so go hungry. The mushy peas and mash are amazing and I will go back just for them! Service is very good the waiter was friendly and service was fast. Love all screens with sport we defs want to go back to watch some rugby or F1. They serve good beer on tap and wine list is very good. Wine per glass is Leopards leap so not the best BUT also not the worst. All in all I would recommend Firemans. My husband is very keen to go back and try their pies as we saw a few coming past and they looked amazing. Real English pub vibe going on!

I've had a lot of Sunday roasts, in a lot of countries, and this was by far the best I've ever had. There were no options, it's a mixed roast of beef, pork and chicken which suited me just fine. Each meat has a different flavour, the Yorkshire pudding was delicious and just the right size - some places have massive yorkies to fill you up, and the veggies were top notch. The pork crackling - OMG, the pork crackling!!!! The other food we saw coming out looked equally delicious - especially the enormous square hamburgers The staff (called waitrons in South Africa) were super efficient and friendly. The restaurant was full when we went and I'm not surprised as it has a lot going for it. My only criticism is that people were smoking in the 'outside' part of the restaurant which was basically part of the 'inside' section. But don't let that put you off, it's still an amazing restaurant and well worth a visit - especially on a Sunday for the roast.

An institution of note. Meals are massive and well priced, and beer variety on tap is extensive and served chilled. Service needs some attention, can be tough to find a waiter even to pay the bill, but will certainly be back for another one of those cheese burgers 😎

Cool spot, great attentive service. We had 4 different screens from our table. Plenty of sport options. We went to watch the UFC.

Best place to watch motorsport. Easy-going, vibrant pub with great food. Pub quizzes here are always fun.

Awesome bar!!! Because if its history and live sport we where drawn to this place. We live close by so it was convenient. Little did we expect and we are now going back a couple days in the month. Love the vibe of this place as everyone is welcome. We can invite the family and feel assure that they will all have something eat and drink. Waiters are excellent, kind and helpful. They know there history, menu and costumers. We have a dog and when we can we take her with us, she loves this places as everyone loves her. She gets a bowl of water as a welcome drink and a dog cookie to settle in. Love this pet friendly gem. The food... I don’t like eating at bars, as sometimes what you see you don’t want to eat. Not here, there cutlery is clean. Their food is delicious and now have beautiful presentations so you can first feast with your eyes. Excellent wood fired pizzas! Price is good the food and drinks you get. Thank you to Andrew and the team for always making us feel comfortable and welcome. All the best and enjoy.

First of, I did not have high hopes... Oh gosh was I WRONG!! I love their beef ribs, onion rings and chicken wings. My friend had the tripe and he was very happy. Super dog friendly, they brought my puppy water and a few dog biscuits.

First time there for F1 Sundays. The place was packed but the waiters were still on top of orders and friendly, didn't have to wait long for food or drinks. And the atmosphere was just amazing! Would definitely recommend going there if you're a F1 fan.

Proper South African pub ,good food. Chicken Liver Peri Peri very spicy. Beef ribs just fell off the bone.

Simply a one stop sports bar from CNN to tennis it's all here. Food exceptionally good and great price. Service is average. Bar is a great piece of history and a fun time to hang out with family or if its your birthday.

Really nice pub with perfect service and a lot of choise of sports events. We were with some Italian friends and they switch for us one of the monitor to watch Juve Roma. Good food and good prices too. Recommend

Though a little pricey, this is our favourite bar. Staff are great, lively vibe and great food. The fish and chips is good, the lamb liver incredible and the Simon Snorkel is irresistible.

A fun place full of vibes, great staff, and an exciting atmosphere. The perfect place to watch a soccer/rugby game, or to attend their weekly quiz night on a Thurs! Food is quite pricey, but portions are extremely big, so it’s good value. Overall, this bar is a South African treasure.

Really great atmosphere ans amazing vibe. Was packed even on a rainy Sunday afternoon, with everyone watching the first formula one race of the season While there were a few vegan mains on offer, the pricing was not included on the many i ordered a plate of the side veg. It tasted amazing though it barely filled the side plate it was served on. The mushy peas and the veg in the marinara sauce stole the show. Service was ok considering how busy it was and wait staff could have been friendlier. I ended up staying to watch Man United get destroyed by Liverpool, unfortunately. But enjoyed myself in the pub. Will be back soon to try more of the amazing food.

Watched the World Cup RUGBY Final here. Wow. What a crowd. The patience that the waiters and bar tenders had was just amazing, and they still managed to smile.

If you go to a bar you want cold bear. They always have cold bear. Veriaty of other drinks and excellent food. Always lekker to pop in.

Last night was the weekly pub quiz at the Fireman's Arms, and it was a blast! A great atmosphere and a lot of fun. I'm actually still suffering from eating the Fireman's pie... It is one of the hottest things I've ever eaten, but it was delicious! Highly recommended bar to visit. Very good food.

I attended an informal company lunch with around 30 people in the group and were exceptionally well looked after. I was a little late so I had not ordered with the group. The staff spotted this immediately and jumped on it. Often at places like this, it takes ages to get a beer but not here. All round excellent service. The food is good quality pub food. My burger was tasty and immense!

Brilliant place to have a beer especially since the revamp

The food and atmosphere itself is not bad at all, but I would simply not return because of the service. Waited 35mins for food order to be taken, servers were plain rude. When my wife ordered another side she was asked with: you want more food???!! It made her feel extremely uncomfortable. I am not a business man myself but don't you make more money when your patrons order food?? Train your staff on their manners please.
