Very popular and trendy bar/restaurant with pretty outside terrace - food was good and our server was very friendly. However, the place generally had a ‘too cool for school’ vibe that didn’t sit well with us. We waited about 90 minutes for a table despite there obviously being loads available that were never filled. So would suggest booking in advance unless you’re happy to wait all night to eat.

Located along the bustling Kloof street, you arrive to an intimate garden setting - both with open air and covered seating areas. Internally, multiple lounge type and dining areas are on offer - well decorated to provide a comfortable yet homey feel to your dining experience. The food options are truly delicious. I recommend the 3-course lunch special which runs in the winter periods, allowing you to experience multiple flavours. (Vegetation and vegan options are on offer) My only point of criticism is the disappointing service. Service is slow, unpolished and does not equate itself to the calibre of such a restaurant.

Worth the hype! Lovely, welcoming staff. The whole interior looks like a mix between a fortune teller‘s salon and something from the Southern States. The chef was able to convert a vegetarian dish into a vegan one, bursting with flavour. Very customer-forward and all in all an outstanding experience!

There isso much to rave about when it comes to Kloof Street House! The outside dining area is marvelous and a standout feature. It's shaded and completely idyllic with its greenery and tranquil atmosphere. In my biased opinion it's the nicest place to be seated in the whole restaurant. Plus there was a live band which added to the awesome summer vibes. The food is fantastic. I had an oven baked roast chicken and it was the best roast chicken I have had in a while! Great drinks menu too. We had lunch there but the brunch menu looked delicious! Definitely a must visit when you are in Cape Town.

This was the best place we ate at in South Africa. My friend and I are both seasoned traveler with 50+ countries each and have eaten all over the world. This was one of the best restaurants we’ve been to. The atmosphere was amazing like a cozy living room. The service was great. Our waitress came over regularly to check up on us and have us good recommendations. The lamb was one of the best I’ve had but the stand out was the ostrich steak it was the best ostrich I’ve ever had by a mile. The chili grilled prawns was also really really good. Highly recommended.

An absolute gem in every context. The decorations and overall atmosphere are close to perfect. Service is friendly and great. But the highlight is of course the food. An ideal selection, not too much, not too little, of high quality, incredibly tastefully prepared meals. Highly recommend the oysters as a starter and and ostrich main. Overall, a must visit for tourists and an incredible treat for locals.

Awesome place, really beautiful over and a must experience. The seating are in the restaurant area, the garden outfront or in the library (has a nice fire place!). The menu is quite simple. No long lists, just the basics such as your steaks, seafood platters, etc. but so good. They have a nice variety of drinks in their menu as well, and some cocktails can be made as non-alcoholic as well which is nice if you're not a drinker. The desserts are awesome, personally the salted caramel cheesecake is awesome but I'll have to admit the lemon sorbet accompanying it stole the show! Overall the service is great and the staff are friendly and quick. They're knowledgeable about the menus as well. Will be back again soon!

A great place if you love meat. The staff were very welcoming despite how full they were. They managed to find a table we could use before the people who reserved it arrived. We went for the burgers that had a thick juicy patty. The chips were a bit oily for my taste. We also went for the gin and tonic. Overall the staff were great but I just didn't enjoy the food that much and found it to be too expensive. We spent over R500 for two burgers and two gin and tonics.

Kloof Street House is a really great spot. The food options were so tasty, really enjoyed the tomato soup and the bread pairing options. The kingklip fish main was super tasty, I would have loved a different vegetable option though. The green beans were sparse and didn’t do much for the dish. The service is really good and you get enough attention even on a busy night. We went on a rainy night and it was fully booked inside but they had blankets and heating, and we were covered from the rain.

What a thoroughly enjoyable place. Kloof Street House, takes you back in time to the 1920’s in an old Victorian era with the high ceilings, decor, and friendly staff. Each room in the house has been completely converted into a dining space from that time, with a fireplace in each room. The food was 5 star hotel quality presentation and delicious. So definitely worth a second visit.

Food was excellent. Service was excellent. If you love crowds, people watching and the young crowd then this is a perfect place. It was a bit too crowded for us and the tables are very close together. That said, I recommend it. Just make sure you aren’t looking for a quiet or romantic night together .

Firstly, WOW! That goes to the Ostrich main that I had 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾! TOP TEN, definitely recommend! The meat was so buttery and wonderfully flavoured. Paired with the sauce and the mash, what a winning dish. The only thing I didn’t care for were the parma ham - the menu says crispy but it was super rubbery and difficult to eat. It was our first time having dinner at Kloof Street House and it was a lovely experience. I was celebrating my one year wedding anniversary with my husband and he chose a great spot, the ambiance was perfect (in the indoor seated dining area). Unfortunately my husband was not as in love with his dish as I was, it was okay in comparison, which is disappointing. We also noticed a lack in consistency regarding the size portions. The person at the table next to us got the exact same dish (lamb and couscous) and their portion was double the size of what was received on our table. The drinks were fun but are quite expensive. Lastly, we got a cute dessert plate with “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate. A yummy dessert but the fondant was slightly over done. All in all, we would definitely go back and I recommend the Ostrich 😉.

Amazing gourmet food that is worth the price. The venue has a dual theme. The first is a magical ambience with fairy lights in a garden setting , with a transition into an elegant dim lit vintage indoor setting. Be smart to make a booking as it is bustling!

Such a beautiful restaurant. Quite exceptional. So warm and cosy. The beginning of service was flowing and prompt, however the whole experience was ruined after we waited 30 minutes for our dessert order to be taken after which we gave up and left. Surprisingly the restaurant was very quiet so it was disappointing and unnecessary. Such a pity as it could have been a beautiful experience.

Popped in for brunch and got a table outside under the trees. Friendly, accommodating and good service. Cappuccino's were hot and the food was tasty. We had Steak Egg and Chips, steak was perfectly done, chips super crispy and Eggs Benedict, the hollandaise sauce was delicious. Really nice vibe.

Amazing decor and interesting menu. Had the three-course lunch and enjoyed all of it, especially the arincini and desset. Main complaint is that service was a bit slow, but would definitely come back and try a cocktail next time. Cocktail menu looked awesome

Very cool and popular restaurant. You will definitely need to book. We went on a Thursday and it was extremely busy. The service was very friendly and helpful. The duck was excellent and the ostrich was also very good. Chocolate fondant was delicious and so was the cheesecake with popcorn.

Amazing atmosphere, we had the ostrich and seafood platter and it was so fresh and delicious and well prepared. Friendly waiters and great wine and drinks. Can recommend the chocolate do if any for dessert 😍 R1300 for 2 mains, 4 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine and 1 dessert to share

The decor and atmosphere is very impressive. Food is excellent with many interesting dishes. Social distancing is not taken very seriously when it comes to seating. It does not seem that any adjustments have been made for Covid beside staff wearing masks. Unfortunately the service is not the best. I am sure this is partly to do with how busy the place gets.

This was an absolute treat. The Victorian-style decor is beautiful. The service was top notch from the minute we entered until we left. We opted for the winter lunch special which is a two-course or three-course meal. The two-course meal is R195 p.p and three-course meal is R235 p.p - I had the mussels for starter and hake for main which was incredible. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

We had a lovely time at Kloof street house. The food was delicious and there was a vast drinks menu to chose from. The ambience is cool and provides some good photo opportunities. We did find the reservation process behind the times by having to email and also confirm the day before to email to avoid losing the reservation. It was also a cold evening and we couldn’t swap our outside reservation to inside but other than that would recommend.

Wonderful ambiance, highly attentive service, delicious wine menu and unique ostrich main made this place positively exquisite. The garden is nicely decorated for evening meals outside and the we finished with cocktails in the bar which was equally stunning. Can’t recommend the ostrich enough— easily one of the best meals I’ve had in South Africa!

Kloof Street House is an incredible restaurant with a bustling atmosphere and a constant flow of people. The food is top-notch and the hospitality of Forrest is truly exceptional. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with warmth and kindness, making you feel like a valued guest. Erin was an awesome kind server. Make sure to explore the starters before committing to your main, we were so happy to try the calamari and oysters. There was live Jazz while we sat and enjoyed brunch and a couple great drinks. Highly recommend.

THE Best Food in Town! After staying in Capetown for nearly 2 weeks, there is no place I’ve tried that is nearly AS good as Kloof Street House. This is a HIDDEN GEM! The ambiance is mind blowing. The attention & characters of the waiters (future aspiring actors and actresses) is remarkable. Everyone dresses phenomenally different and quite distinguished from one another which makes the place like both a mirage of art and a fashion runway at the same time. It carries an intimate romantic ambiance, blankets, and fireplaces. Just divine! Thank you Saskiya for the terrific recommendations! And for ensuring the lamp chops were 100% Halal!

Very cool and popular restaurant. You will definitely need to book. We went on a Friday and it was extremely busy so we had to wait for 2 hours for a free table. The service was very friendly and helpful. The stake tasted really good but could have been a bit more tender for my taste. Otherwise really to recommend for dining in and having a late night drink with nice atmosphere.

I’ve been here several times over the yeas, I’m so glad they made it through Covid because it’s the first time since then that I’ve come back. This place is a treat, the food is always excellent, portions are perfect and the staff know what they’re doing. I’ll be back over and over again. All this in a beautiful setting , pity it was full outside but inside is just as stunning, it’s so pretty and thoughtfully put tightened.

This is a great place with delicious food and great ambiance. The place gets very busy and understandably so. So why three stars you ask? Well, we were seated outside under the trees and lights which had a great ambiance. But we had several uninvited guests. We saw at least three big rats running around on the walls next to us and climbing on the trees next to us. The branches were right over our heads. Imagine eating with rats hanging on the branches over your head. It wasn’t a pleasant experience and I am sure it’s also a health hazard. We brought it to the attention of our server but even though she seemed surprised to see rats and sympathized, she never offered to move us (maybe because the place was packed). Nevertheless, she played it off nonchalantly instead of doing anything about it. We ate the starters rapidly and left with most of our main dishes unfinished.

The place was my “ coup de coeur” during my weekend in Cape Town. I absolutely fell in love with the decor , the atmosphere is simple yet chic. The food was really really good. The proof is that I went twice in 48h. The staff is friendly. The food choices were endless and the research behind the choices for vegan/vegetarian is spot on. The wine and MCC selection is good. PS: The burger is to die for! 😋

My first experience of Kloof street house was in January 2019. It was recommended by a colleague. From the first plate served (starters) - You ooh and aah every time you take a bite of the food. Each plate just keeps getting better than the previous one. The food is delicious and their wines are good quality as well. Great cosy spot in the CBD!

Perfect anniversary celebration! Apps recommend mushroom & cheese balls, burrata salad, and oysters. Main moroccan lamb, Ostrich, and grilled prawns. Opt in for doing family style. Excellent food, drinks and service. So far the best restaurant we visited in South Africa, worthy of a Michelin star. Terrific value, we'll be back. The grilled calamari was succulent, the fries perfect, the cocktails and the rest of the food were all equally impressive.

A wonderful birthday celebration in a vintage furnished restaurant with front and back garden settings. Seating in the dining area was spacious and the red lounge seats were luxurious. My wife and I had the most amazing anniversary dinner here! 1stly, the service from the time I called to make the reservation till we walked out the door was impeccable! Then, the food and cocktails... The Food, both starters and mains were sensational with the cocktails being out of this world. The desserts were in a league of their own as well. We just didn't want to leave. We were helped by the amazing Fran, who's service was spectacular. Thank you for a magical evening!

Awful service. Food late and undercooked. Rude manager (pale white fool with a red tie) who lost his cool and swore at our table (on duty 30 Jan 2021). Waiter and waitress forgot and actively refused to write down orders. Managed to mess up every order at our table of 6.

I had dinner recently at Kloof Street House, a restaurant I used to praise and go to on a regular basis for the past 5 years but it was my last meal there for sure unless serious changes happen in this establishment. First of all, the menu hasn't changed a bit in years, i can recite it by heart. This lack of efforts to bring new menu items is a clear reflection on their core business, tourists. Secondly, in time of covid, the same number of tables are in the restaurant, we were extremely close to a large table of 8 people, our elbows could touch. When i asked to move in a different location, i couldn't because the restaurant was jam packed like if the country is not in the middle of pandemic. And thirdly, the waitress made no efforts to wear her mask properly which was under her lips most of the time. Let's see how long they can continue to do business without putting any care for their loyal customers

(Translated by Google) Magnificent restaurant, in the heart of Cape Town Nice decoration inside and out. Brunch was top notch, good coffee, live jazz music on weekends. Food is good well presented. Waitress listening, smiling everything you need what. During our week in Cape Town we were there twice, for a brunch and for a lunch and for both we were not disappointed. Reasonable price I recommend !! Prix raisonnable Je recommande !!
