My husband had the T-bone steak again and it was delicious as usual. I tried the Grilled Sole Bonne Femme with the prawns and mussels. It was DIVINE. The creamy cheese sauce just rounded off the dish so nicely. Always lovely to dine at Nelson's Eye because the food is always good there.

Fantastic steakhouse at bargain prices. We were a group of 6 and everything was excellent. The meat was very fresher, high grade and cooked as ordered to perfection. The place was full, yet it took very little time to get the food. Extremely efficient. One of the chefs came to the table to ensure ow we wanted the meets cooked. Friendly owners and service. Excellent prices. A place to go back and back.

Proper South African steakhouse. You’re going to pay a bit but the meat, service and “dark wood steakhouse” interior are a treat. Good wine selection goes well with a variety of cuts. I’ll be back

Feels like a family owned restaurant. We had a huge table and the waitress managed to take our orders in a very organized way. The food arrived fast. The steak was on the spot, juicy just the way I requested. Great spot for families.

The food was great and the staff was very friendly! Very appreciated that we did not have to wait for long for our food, even if there was around 150 people sitting on that day. There are some parking spaces in front of the restaurant guarded by someone. PSA: trust me take the pork ribs, not the steak, you won't regret it.

After reading reviews over the past year, I think this place is highly ranked because of its old reputation. From the service to the meal quality, it was a troubled evening in every way. Firstly, when we arrived at the restaurant, there were two additional couples waiting at the door, and although we had a reservation and the other couple did not, the lady at the gate directed us to a tight side table while giving them a very central one. At best, she didn't like our outfit, and at worst there were racial issues. At that point, we should have said we didn't like it and left the restaurant, but I couldn't react quickly. But if we left the establishment, at least, I would remember this restaurant as a good steak restaurant with poor service. But the steak and sides were nothing special; you can get much better steaks in Cape Town. Steak came half medium/half medium rare as the Rump served was poorly sliced. The Greek salad was served with a very bad feta (that cheese was not even feta). Still, the only things that might have saved the night were garlic bread and malva pudding. Yet, this expensive bill certainly did not deserve these plates. It is not a place I'll go a second time

Hidden Gem you must visit. My husband ate here six years ago and was impressed by the service, food and prices. It was at the top of his Cape Town to do list and did not disappoint. The restaurant is old school and part of the charm. Services are efficient And knowledgeable. The menu is quiet extensive and reasonable priced. The steak was delicious. Cooked perfectly. Highly recommend the fillet steak and grilled vegetables. Definitely give this place a try over the other big chains, you won’t be disappointed

Unbeleivable steaks service and value

I’ve been going here for years and it never disappoints. The meat is good, the toppings are good, the sides are good, the service is good(Shoutout to Connor who served me and friend the other night). They also have great deals. My favourite steakhouse in South Africa.

Came here with a friend that showed me the location. Had an awesome t-bone (800g). Was well filled and had great wine on top. Would 100% recommend!

Nelson's Eye located across from the Mount Nelson has been around since the 1960s and the manager has worked there for 30 years - testament to a well established business. The staff are efficient and polite, spot on service! Their menu is boasts all your comfort favourites and, once I try their food, I'll be able to allocate a fifth star I'm sure!

Quaint and unassuming restaurant, the service is super fast and friendly. Went there on a recommendation from a close friend. I loved it, will be making this one of my new homes. I had the T bone, best beef I’ve had in the Cape. Highly recommend 👏🏾

$$$ but their steak nailed it. Kirstin and I had the most tender and juicy fillet. Sauces could do with some improvement (pepper sauce wasn't great). The sides were great as well. The staff is most friendly. The place is Cape Towns steak classic original. Loved it.

A small family run authentic steak house - go with a BIG appetite - the steaks are massive! They are served in the house speciality sauce however it would’ve been my preference to ask for this on the side next time (just personal preference). The sides are plentiful but we were stuff when we left - both took doggy bags home with us as we were practically rolled out! Overall was a lovely authentic experience.

We ate here 6 years ago and still talk about it. Assuming it is still the coziest envt and most fantastic steak meal you will ever eat I highly recommend it. Next time we are in Cape Town we are coming back!

On my first day of traveling in Cape town, I asked one of my uber drivers what is the best steakhouse in Cape Town. He proudly introduced me this restaurant. We went there with reservation. Everything went smooth and food was amazing. Also the staffs there were super friendly and attentive. This will be the place I will recommend to my friends. Try their Wagyu beef ribs!

Brilliant steak house for someone who has lived of good meats for a long time. Must try the Escargot and chicken livers for a good kick! Staff are super friendly too!

Great steak. We had the fillet on the bone and the rump 420g (definitely too much for one). The sides were a little disappointing. Spinach could have been more creamy and a more generous portion and the baked potato was a little small, plus the sour cream could have used some garnishing and/or fragrance. Starters were Burrata (lovely) and Kudu Carpaccio (lovely with Caperberries but could do with a little less grana padano on top). We paid R700 per person including a bottle of red wine and tip so would have expected a tad bit more for the budget.

What a great gem of a place. I was completely unaware of them and found it with work colleagues through our steak club social. This is a true steak house in the great traditional way. Proper food quality steaks. Lovely cuts to choose from. Their creamed spinach is awesome. They have a lovely option of condiments, chilly jalapenos, thinly crumbed and fried onions and yummy garlic mushrooms! They are a bit pricey but well worth the effort. Their drinks are also not cheap. They charge R150 corkage per 750ml bottle wine and you can take 2 per 3 people. We ran into the owner on the evening. Very nice to speak to him. He still believes in good customer service and even better food. Will recommend them for sure and also go back for more.

We had a delicious home style dinner here last night. The pan fried fillet was sublime. BUT be aware if you request extras like avo or cheese on the very plain burgers they offer - you'll be charged R45 for 4 wafer thin slices of avo & R25 for a slice of ordinary cheddar. Response from the manager was "the price is the price and that's it" (Extras are not detailed in the menu or mentioned by waiters)

I just had the best Sirloin steak ever eaten by human.

If you are a meat lover, this is the place to go. Don't expect a plate full of side orders, if you order meat, meat is what you get on your plate. I almost had a second helping of their succulent fillet instead of dessert. Not because of the portion size, it was absolutely delicious and my tastebuds tried to convince me to have more. The only negative was the space between tables. Not a place to go if you want to have a private or intimate conversation.

Filet steaks were super. Very few chips though... a few more chips instead of 2 big bowls of creamed spinach would have been great.

This is a phenomenal, stand out restaurant. The large steaks are really delicious and the cafe butter (cafe de Paris) is such a good accompaniment. Their steaks really are up there with the best in the city, and their specials are so incredibly well priced. Corkage is on the steep end, but they have a good wine cabinet. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. It is always a treat to visit.
