It's the most beautiful place! Friendly atmosphere, excellent food, good selection of wines. The manager is the most knowledgeable, professional, and caring person. I will be back soon. Thank you for your hospitality.

The steak is not the dish to order sadly and I wont suggest the food here either. At R450 a steak in "South African terms" is a upmarket price that comes with an expectation of finesse. Not only is meat without a nice sear, it was terribly overcooked, its bland and badly executed with a terrible jus (sauce) and floppy thin cut bought chips. I informed the waiter of my concerns, including about the cut and standard of the steak in the most polite way. The female chef came out shouting, bringing a piece of raw meat to the table saying it was what she got from Chalmar. I was out for a pleasant evening and refrained from interacting more than I had to. Shocking. Although the look of the restaurant has potential- the restaurant has a pretty garden setting and has nice decor. There is a beautiful bunch of garden flowers in the center on the one area. The music choice is a dated playlist and the staff need some training. I have significant of experience of restaurants and dining, this didn't cut it. The food and service are only okay at best.

Food is really good and staff is extremely friendly. Great overall experience that comes at a price. But it is worth it.

Selling Sirloin as Rib eye - we only mentioned it quietly yet they had the audacity to come out and shout for no reason. Very quiet restaurant unfortunately (almost no one there).

Still the best restaurant around. Delicious food, amazingly friendly staff, beautiful decor. All Covid safety measures in place and during Prohibition they offered creative and healthy non-alcoholic cocktails made of fresh ingedients. Camphors has been the best restaurant in the Somerset area for a long time. It always impresses and the creativity of the chef is second to none. The tapas menu changes weekly. Amazing!

Luxurious well serviced dining experience enjoyed here. The ribeye I had was prepared to perfection. The lamb was also good. The creamy mussels was 1 of the best I’ve ever had. This venue oozes charm and elegance. Well worth making a trip to dine here. They also serve verglegelen wines by the glass to pair. The cab I had was perfect with the steak, I had to go next door to the tasting room to buy my share to take home.

What a gem!!! Just go eat here, make a reservation, why are you still reading this? Seriously though, an incredible value for money tasting menu. Having eaten at Waterkloof the night before, we enjoyed some of the dishes here just as much and even 1 or 2 more than we did at Waterkloof. The team at Camphors are warm and welcoming, the dining area is beautiful, the menu is well constructed and the dishes are expertly executed. Have you booked yet???

Four of us had lunch here today. The starters were excellent, cheese souffle and avocado ritz with good-sized prawns. Unfortunately my rack of lamb was quite overcooked - instead of being medium to medium-rare as lamb should be it was medium to well and the outside part was well done; definitely not the french way! As for dessert, the almond praline was delicious, but the meringue floating island with creme anglaise was disappointing - served in a small bowl instead of the usual open bowl or plate which dampened the taste and appearance. So overall a mixed result, not what one would expect for an upmarket restaurant, and not as good as our meal there in July. Don't think we will bother to try again, sorry Michelle!

When we arrived the outside tables had all been booked (even though many were unoccupied still), and the tables inside were all vacant. To then encounter a waiter hesitant to allocate a table to us and wondering whether our party of seven may not perhaps "overwhelm" the kitchen came across as being a bit odd - not exactly welcoming and slightly amusing to our guests from the USA. However, all turned out well - the service and fare according to expectations.

What a wonderful venue.. 'Understated elegance..' is how I would define this friendly yet amazing venue. When there do not forget to make the time to visit the gift shop as you walk in to the right of the entrance. What I love is that the Gardens at front entrance are beautiful the irregular placement of terracotta pots on the sill above the doorway are amazing.

Great food and professional staff in a relaxing environment. A good number of tables around us were returning customers which is testimony to a great consistent experience.

The duck was divine. We also enjoyed our choux pastries however found the French onion soup to be a little too sweet. I am big fan of Vergelegen’s brilliant pop ups and picnics and can say that the service is always outstanding, the staff truly genuine and down to earth and the setting is obviously second to none. Thank you for always creating something special.

Superb French cuisine. Other than my duck being a little on the tough side, everything else we ordered was sublime. Great service, beautiful presentation & excellent wine advice from the Somelier. My 3rd time lunching here and not my last.

Fantastic setting, wonderful food with their dna red wine I usually have, man, outstanding. This time round Im afraid they lose a star with their fork belly I tried for the first time, thought it was on the dry side and over all did not enjoy it. Everything else I previously had and on this particular occasion was delicious.

I always enjoy a restaurant away from the "rat race" and this one is special. From the setting of Vergelegen wine farm, the ambiance, peace and quiet, menu and service a great place for couples and families. Simple but not overpowering. Love it.

Nice dining room and atmosphere, but a total ripoff in my opinion. R350 pp for a two course meal and R450 pp for 3 courses. Oh, there's a free glass of wine. Check your bill though, had two courses (main and dessert), but was billed for three. Never again.

👍 What a beautiful setting!! We had the mussels and boboti for lunch with a creme brule for dessert. The food and service were both good. Slightly above average in price but certainly worth it considering the beautiful surroundings.

👍👍 The server was witty and friendly, and offered valuable recomendations when prompted to do so. The aroma of roasting coffee beans created a lovely atmosphere and the immaculate gardens and magnificent scultures were a joy to behold. A lovely place to meet friends and catch up.
