Lovely restaurant. Perfect for breakfast with a view, just across from the ocean. Beautiful setting with friendly staff. Catherine served us and was so kind and professional and took really good care of us. The food was delicious and exactly what I expected. They're usually very busy and do not take reservations for breakfast, so go early.

I've had breakfast before at Lily's, and chose to treat my 79 year old friend to a lunch there due to the easy accessibility and open verandah with a view. Both of us ordered the same meal: calamari main, which was incredibly tasty and of good portion! I would go back to Lily's just for the calamari! The waiters were attentive, helpful and friendly! A lovely calm ambiance to the place!

Small portions. Over priced. Limited menu options. 2 of the 3 beers not in stock. Music so loud you cannot hear the person across the table. Terrible experience. Don't waste your time and money - avoid

I have always seen people posting about this place on Instagram and I had to try it out. I was definitely not disappointed. We booked ahead of time for a table as sometime it is busy and we didn’t want to miss out. Service was impeccable. The atmosphere welcoming and warm. The decor of the place beautiful and lovely seating. I love they have this plastic tarps especially with the wind you might encounter which worked perfectly. We ordered the popcorn squid and the Tumble Weed Goat cheese. The popcorn squid was good and the chilli gave it that kick. But OMW was the Tumble Weed Goat cheese not the most divine thing ever. I would high recommend and will definitely come back for more. The fresh and crispness from the apple just balances the whole starter. The mains we had the Lilly’s KFC and the Kung Poa Chicken. The chicken was delicious and juicy. Nice and crispy batter. Loved the aioli that came with it. The Kung Poa was good maybe a tad bit dry but had all that flavour needed. There was so many things on the menu that I would like to try and I will definitely come back again. All the food just sounds so delicious. I have the virgin mojito was slightly disappointed. Was way too much ice than actually anything to drink. The pIneapple crush on the other hand was super yummy. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful set-up - relaxing, inviting, romantic and cosy. Lovely vegan, vegetarian and meat options. The springroll starter (vegan) is a meal on it's own! Popcorn squid was a hit with my dinner companion as was his tempura fish. Delighted to be offered the most delicious vegan 'chicken' burger ever! Great staff and wonderful experience overall.

Virtual dining by Matt Manning was such an enjoyable and entertaining experience. So much more than just a meal, it really is an evening experience and an absolute blast. It is a great stay at home date idea for cooking enthusiasts! The instructions and videos made it super interactive and easy to follow, even for two relative fine dining novices. many of the dishes were things we'd never prepared before, and we managed without any trouble. There's a unique sense of pride that comes from "preparing" the food yourself and plating it beautifully, especially when it is dishes like these. The food was absolutely delicious and easy to work with. The flavours, textures and combinations were fantastic and so much fun to try at home. My personal favourites were the pan roasted duck breast main and the rainbow trout amuse bouche. I would thoroughly recommend this to any cooking enthusiast or couple who likes the kitchen!

Seriously one of the best meals I’ve ever had and I don’t say that lightly. The 5 course meal option was literally perfect, paired with an out-of-this-world wine selection. The dishes were nothing short of art, and were completely unique in their flavour combinations and arrangements. Their use of local products and foods was magnificent, and allowed for a beautiful exploration of the local legends in the South African wine, cheese, meat and produce scene. They were also just so exceptionally accommodating and lovely. Their detailed explanations of everything from the choice of wine to the creation process used in the featured cheeses and meats was like having a dinner, wine tasting, and culinary class all in one. Bravo!!

So many good reviews and I know now why they all good. Felt like Breakfast at Tiffany's. What a warm and cozy place. Food was great and decor stunning. Service was on point. Went back for a lunch and had the prawn linguine. Loved it. My first time was in winter and it was enclosed with heaters and now on a warm day it was nice and open.

Lily's was amazing. The service was great and the food even better. We had the "healthy" fried chicken and keep slimming which was a hake with jazzed up couscous. The prices were better than most restaurants in the area. I'm definitely going back soon.

I was drawn to it by the music, it was calming yet enjoyable with crisp clear sound. The ambiance matched the view which was looking over the sea, sitting inside or outside. We enjoyed the breakfast, especially the freshly juiced ginger. For me it was a new experience.

Fantastic brunch! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food arrived quickly and was prepared exactly as ordered. The food is slightly on the pricier side, but the quality of the food, presentation and staff shows. Highly recommended. They stop serving breakfast at 11:30 and start lunch from 12:00.

This is a lovely place for a dinner date... the vibe is just right, the aesthetic adds to the romance, and the COVID_19 regulations are in place. This was my very first visit to Lily's, I took my girlfriend here for a romantic dinner date... the food was amazing as well, however, my steak was a lil over cooked on one side though and the occasional fights I had with this one fly!! This the only annoying thing during our dinner, otherwise it was a great evening spent at Lily's.

I went for breakfast today from my morning run with my sister and it was our first time on this place. The breakfast was delicious compliments to the chef 🥂 , they got some generous portions as well. Thank you Jessie for serving us well👏. Below is the pic of what I ordered and enjoyed. I will definitely recommend Lily's restaurant to my friends. We are coming back again😊

After a long walk along the promanade we stopped for a Smoothie. Enjoyed the views. The berries smoothie and the Calamari starter was also good. A bit of a stiff formal setting for us as we were looking for that casual beach vibe place. This is no reflection on the restaurant just personal choice for the day. Good service so all round still a good experience.

Really bad experience. Food was terrible. We ordered cauliflower , couscous with grilled hake... hake was overcooked not seasoned. Slice of lemon was tiny, dish lacked flavour. Hake portion probably 50g no taste at all.... other dish crispy chicken with sticky rice avo and peanut sauce.....no sauce 6 peanuts on top of sticky rice chicken schnitzel burnt and dry warm avo... really bad experience.... sorry.... beautiful restaurant though..

Surprised at all the deep fried food options.. otherwise very nice place, good food options, great service. Chef could consider air fry instead of deep fry. Also.. between the loud music and passing cars, it's difficult to have a conversation when sitting outside.

Beautiful views and very nice vibe. The menu is disappointing though however I am sure there are other people who would like the menu. Also the coke I ordered came in a miniscule 200ml can but gets charged for a proper can rate. A regular glass takes 350ml so filling it up with ice and lemon slices is a bit of a cheat. My sons ordered fanta and their drinks came with proper sized cans. The food was tasty and fresh. I would not say it is value for money but it was tasty and that counts for a lot. Service is fast and efficient. They have bowls for dogs on the floor too as it seems to be a pet friendly restaurant.

One of the best restaurants in the area. Great cocktails & excellent food. Service is always on point, too. The prices have increased dramatically over the last year though. Covid compliance is flakey at best

  • 5/5 Erika L. 3 years ago on Google
Food is always great! We love this restaurant. We sat outside considering Covid 19, you can be 1.5m away from other tables, which we appreciate now. They have illy coffee and also almond milk for those avoiding cow milk. I had Cesar salad, the best in town, my hubby had rump and was perfect he said. Service can be a bit slow sometimes, but we did not mind now. Really worth your money!

Amazing culinary experience in a relaxed and sleek setting. Located on Bree street in the hub of Cape Town happenings, this boutique restaurant is perfect for a gourmet Capetonian experience. We went for the 5 course + wine menu and were pleasantly surprised by the amazing mix of flavours and local ingredients, without feeling too full at the end. Highly recommended!

  • 1/5 Claire F. 3 years ago on Google
We were very disappointed. We did the tasting menu with pairing. The food was really bland and unimaginative and the wines were very average (except one). Service was fine and the ambiance is nice, but for that price bracket the food and wine needs serious attention.

What a nice find. I love that you can sit outside on the street, and pretty much watch the world go by. The small plates (I had all the vegetarian ones) were light and tasty, the strawberry and vanilla mocktail was refreshing, and the service was friendly and attentive.

Virtual dining by Matt Manning We had so much fun making and enjoying Matt’s virtual 5 course meal at home. Just some reasons why this is the perfect valentines/anniversary/birthday dinner in the current lockdown situation: - we could pair the incredible meal with a wonderful South African Chenin - very social distancing friendly since you make the meal at home - it is so much fun! We had a little competition on who could plate each meal the prettiest and we had some great laughs and friendly banter. - Chef Matt’s instructions are clear, easy to follow and the most difficult and important parts of each course are already done for you. Each of our courses tasted way beyond our expectations (and it definitely was not due to OUR cooking skills) It’s not just a sit down meal, it’s a whole experience which creates the best memories.

Food is good but served in so little portions that does not worth the price. 3 course menu for around R550 with which you do not fill your belly. Cape town has much more better options for this price and same quality. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it.

During lock down, a friend sent us this lovely offer by Grub & Vine! We ordered a virtual dining experience, also because we have been watching Top Chef Jr and Master Chef Australia with my 8 year old who have discovered the joys of good food and fine dining. Everything was lovely and the video's were helpful. My budding top chef jr ate everything, plated her own dishes and helped cooked the food!! We've shared this offer also with quite a few of our foodie friends and look forward to another dining experience. Virtual or even better. In your restaurant. With a nice glass of wine:)

We recently enjoyed Matt's virtual dining experience. What a great concept and such an awesome date night at home. We thoroughly enjoyed every course. The food was delicious. So easy to plate and fun to watch the youtube videos as a guide to how to prep the proteins for two of the courses. But everything pales in comparison to the most delicious dessert we have tried in years... chcocolate ganache tart with honeycomb icecream. Superb. Luckily we still had wine stocks to create our own pairing but looking forward to our Radford Dale wine sometime soon. Thanks Matt and team for an unforgettable experience.

A Top Quality, Globally Competitive, Virtual Dining Experience in Your Very Own Cape Town A 6 star, 5 course dining experience - in your own home. WOW! Being a young family, and being in lockdown, mom & dad date nights have taken a back seat. But top quality chef Matt Manning & his professional Grub & Vine dining crew have concocted an experience that will leave you begging for more, you may even find a new way of fine dining - in your own home. With 5 easy to prepare, delicious courses, and with some well timed and excellently put together "on the fly" training material that comes with the delivery itself, you will in fact be upskilling yourself in the kitchen. There are so many benefits to this single, virtual dining experience that you will want to have another, and another, and another. You might even meet Matt as he takes a personal trip out to drop off your dining delivery. This independent kitchen has done the right thing by leveraging off their strong points, and in the process, supporting their staff. If you want quality, taste, fun, education and ethics - look no further.

It's hard to describe the experience as pleasant or comfortable as it is soooo much more. There may be a description that befits the experience (exquisite, elegant, all the other great words are also not enough alone) but 1 word will not do it justice. It is "other-worldly" lol but truly majestic and beyond. A DEFINITE MUST experience for all... from foodie to just a person wanting new experiences

  • 5/5 Shelby C. 3 years ago on Google
We absolutely loved our virtual dining experience. Where to even begin... The professionalism from the beginning to the end of our experience, the seamless meal prep, the flavours... The PORTION SIZES! Highly recommended.

Having been a fan of Matt Manning’s One Ingredient dinners since 2012, we were over the moon when Matt and Roxanne opened Grub and Wine... and then the Era of Rona happened. After a month of lockdown having to cook for ourselves, the Virtual Dining experience launched and a sense of normalcy returned with every beautiful taste of this delightful home cooking event. The food included in the first box was inventive, delicious and expertly prepared and the interactive instructions on how to prepare the two courses (of 5!) was great. If you are not comfortable to go to the restaurant yet (Go! Now! It’s awesome!), this is an excellent option to dine in at home! Highly recommended to even the most novice of cooks... you will feel like a masterchef! We cannot wait for the new Virtual Dining Menu!

Lovely restaurant/coffee shop at the seafront in Mouille Point. A good lunch and coffee place, even when the wind is blowing as the large glass front gives you a beautiful view of the sea. When the weather is nice, all the glass doors open, and there is also an outside area. The missing star is for the road and cars parked right outside that obstruct the view.

Beautiful restaurant with lovely views but sadly disappointing food and overpriced drinks, R50 for hot chocolate that is powdered. The service for a mostly empty restaurant on a Monday afternoon was lacking. We received lukewarm coffee and hot chocolate and had to ask for them to be warmed up, when the food arrived it was bland and dry, the fish tasted as if the oil used to fry it was not fresh. It was a very disappointing experience overall. Ambience: 3/5 Food: 2/5 Service: 2/5

I ordered a Titanic burger. Apparently you get a burger now without a bun! (the bun went down with the ship😄). Yes, here you will have to pay R20 extra for a hamburger roll if you order a burger. It was a dry affair_ the sauce was added very sparingly. Also check their loadshedding schedule before booking; they cannot deep-fry anything during loadshedding; so no chips with your burger.

We love Lily’s for many reasons including the quality of food and the level of service. The upstream trout on spicy lemon couscous is devine *chef’s kiss* - a generous portion too. Even on the cold wet day we decided to have a brunch celebration, with the eldest child spreading her wings to Europe and the Old Man back to New Zealand to enjoy his retirement, the atmosphere was ever so inviting. Im a great fan of this all-day eatery that serves up classic contemporary food along the iconic Mouille Point seaside mile, complete with heaters in winter to complete the chic decor and comfy chairs to slide into. An ever popular spot for locals and visitors alike, suits as a great meeting spot, wether for coffee, breakfast (serving Mimosas too) or lunch. There is an after-work drinks crowd that settles in for sundowners flanked by sunset dinners overlooking the Atlantic that I’ve heard about. The menu options are terrific, a little bit of everything, more enough for all palates even plant based options, with a worthy drinks lists. My general point of order for this eatery is breakfast, because it’s just done properly, and I can have a Mimosa with my Benedict. My very happy place! My wife opted for the breakfast salad, made up of Almonds, Quinoa, Garlic, Baby Spinach, Kale, Grilled Haloumi & Soft Boiled Egg, to which she was delighted. While my daughter opted for a simpler option of House Granola, Yoghurt, Honey & Fresh Fruit, again that was thoroughly enjoyed. Dad sipped some coffees and as did Mimosa’s, while we were waited on by enthusiastic efficient staff. I particularly enjoy the attention to detail, like the fresh white napkin on offer, that nowadays is becoming quite rare in the industry. I truly delightful spot. Ciao SB ~ 🍾
