A very big restaurant, so our expectations weren't high re food, but we were pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious and not too pricey. Beautiful setting with feet in the sand under a Bedouin tent. Good wine selection too

What a delightful day it was. If you’re looking for fine dining at any time of the day, cool beach dining experience, ground eatery experiences and general good vibes then this is the place to be. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is magnificent, en the food… oh my soul, mouth-watering. They have great music playing in the background. Wonderful place for meeting new people and make friends ♥️

This is one of Cape Town’s hottest beachside cafés and for good reason. Firstly it is set in a prime location - Granger Bay - and is framed by the ocean on one side and the majestic Cape Town stadium on the other side. It is in walking distance from the V&A Waterfront. Set on golden beach sand, the Grand offers indoor and outdoor dining with space for many people at a time. Besides being an awesome eating and drinking spot, it has hosted summer concerts which have proved very popular. The food is exquisite - fresh, fragrant and mouth-wateringly good. The menu is expensive, but the quality of the food and generous portions offset the costs. Of course, the service is excellent.

Beautiful beautiful venue. Honestly worth it just for the view. Reminded me of the lovely beach bars in Bali and so happy to see something like that in South Africa because our beaches are spectacular! Service initially extremely disappointing. Food not that great. If this was food alone I'd give it a 2. Had the sugar salmon - blade - and the cheesecake - also weirdly tasteless. I've never had poor cheesecake in Cape Town. This was a first. Thankfully I got a new waiter! Thank you to waiter Lebo and barman Kaya!! You guys made my day ❤️

Visited Grand Africa today. Second time there, but the first was for a gin festival a few years ago. Managed to get a table on one of the decks outside, I preferred that over a table on the hot sand. From the start the service was fantastic, from our waitress to the runners. Ordered some pizzas, pasta and I had the battered hake. My hake was crispy on the outside and flaky when cut. I love their hand cut fries. I tried some of the pasta and a slice of pizza which was also great. They have a variety of wines and cocktails too. Also to be honest the bill was alot less than I expected and I found it be great value for money. Will definitely return.

Beautiful experience lovely views of the ocean. The service is on point absolutely exceptional friendly always smiling willing to go the extra mile 👍. The pizza was delicious and worth the price. The drinks are somewhat pricey but delicious so no complaints. Ample parking at the venue witn a standard charge of R20 rand. Will definitely be back soon.

Amazing vibe, delicious food, stunning view

We had a reservation for 3:30 27 February 2021. Venue is gorgeous, fantastic location. Once seated it took almost 10mins to get a menu. Then almost 30min for our cocktails. And I have to say it was the worst cocktail we've ever had, we literally jugged it because it was so unpleasant. Definitely not worth R95 per cocktail. Then to charge R45 for tap water that is just put into a branded bottle. You can taste the difference between bottled water and normal tap water. So I don't believe anything was worth the R215 bill we got. When we paid the waiter asked why we were leaving and I just said we have other plans. And this was on my birthday so I was I was highly disappointed with the experience. I also see that many people have complained about the terrible service and yet nothing seems to have been done about this matter.

We had a reservation at 6PM (on Valentine’s Day) with my partner and myself. At 6:15 we sat down and ordered our drinks. 45 minutes later our drinks arrived. We ordered food at this time which proceeded to take over an hour to arrive. When my burger got to me it was raw and cold in the center and the chips were cold. My partner got fish and chips that were not very warm. We complained the the manager that night (Lauren). We got drink replacement and my burger was replaced and this time came back hot. There were some people who arrived 1hr after us that managed to get their food before us, and they were not even ordering the Valentine’s Day menu. Unfortunately free drinks are nice but attending a 5 star restaurant and getting this service does not make up for the mistakes made.

Perfect for a relaxing afternoon in the sun! We had wine, oysters, calamaris, they have loads of stuff. Service is friendly and the view is nice. I would recommend to call ahead of time and book a spot. Normal prices for the area. You can go all out here with expensive wines, bottles, etc if you want to.

Although the setting is beautiful we had to wait 2 hours for our meals to arrive, we were offered a complimentary drink which while appreciated did not make up for such a long wait.

A stunning restaurant with amazing service ... We had VIP treatment all round... A special Thanks to our waiter MJ who made our Year End Function an absolute success... He was professional, efficient & super friendly... Despite the fact that the venue was packed to capacity i was impressed that our food & drinks were served on time. Amazing job to all the staff in the kitchen, the food was lovely, the bartenders.. For our amazing cocktails and mostly MJ, our waiter... who kept us happy throughout... We had 5 🌟 treatment all round. Superb.

The waiter we had was very pushy and not attentive to the last couple who had the table before us ,their wine bottle still in the ground. Sand at the bottom of our chips, the table next to us with a birthday party had all her gust arrive with no masks, hugging and really not knowing that we are in a pandemic, being aware of others around them. The management did not seem too perturbed about the no masks. For the amount of money spent, i would have assumed better service.

What an amazing place with great people food and drinks and don't forget the beautiful beach overlooking the bay.The service is of good quality as the waiter looking after you makes sure your every need is met .Wow the food is amazing and platters seem to work for more than 2 people.The drinks menu has a large variety to choose from as well as the dessert menu.The crowd of people varies from very young to very matured.Families are also welcome as kids gets to play in the sand and has so much fun. I was very impressed with the little boutique that sells the most beautiful clothes made of silk and I got to fit on some of the beautiful and most popular garments.Thanks again Shireen for allowing me to fit on your store clothes I had so much.fun.Thr designers are South African as well as different designers from overseas.You can only find one outfit of each design this makes ladies come into the store fighting as to who gets that one garment.They sell shoes bags and other accessories. The music was so amazing thank you Theo for your awesome music you played yesterday you got the crowd going wild with fun..thank you Grand Africa for an epic night filled with beautiful sunset and making new friends.

A friend posted about this spot on his status, so when I went to Cape Town with my person, I made sure to visit. The vibe, the staff and food was amazing. This venue is so flexible, it caters for everyone with a bar set up, tables for families/ groups as well as a fine dining experience. We ordered their starter calamari and pizza because we were in a hurry to catch our flights but it didn't disappoint. Would definitely recommend, I will definitely go back

Overall we had a great experience. It was definitely a unique experience and I loved that it was on the beach. The drinks and the food was great and there are so many opportunities to take amazing photos. I would definitely go back.

The Johnny Walker Bar is beautiful. Staff is friendly and very helpful. The strawberry daquiry was Devine. We were also treated by a display given by a school of dolfins near the shore. Definitely worth the visit.

What a beautiful cafe, such great food and amazing service. Even better is the fact that it's on the shoreline and you get to watch the sun go down. This is such a outstanding place, such a vibe and I had an amazing night. Average cost for 2 people with alcoholic drinks R550.

Great spot to take visitors to C.T. Fantastic views. Superb location. Great food and cocktails. They do need more waitrons on the floor though. Prices definitely geared for tourists and not locals. But all in all a special place.

Splendid layout of bar and restaurant that coverts to beach club venue on the city storefront. Situated close to the V&A Waterfront, Grand has its own secure car park. The food is pretty average, but the service is disorganised and quite frankly dreadful! Items missing from food orders, drinks taking an excessive duration to arrive juxtaposed by an exquisite view of table bay and fantastic atmosphere make this a difficult place to review fairly. Personally I wouldn't go back, but definitely a place to be seen for the cool crowd of Cape Town

We had the best waiter in the world. Without even having to ask, he constantly adjusted our umbrellas so that we were always in the shade, and was a great communicator throughout. At one point we had to interact with the other staff (busboys clearing tables) and they were also excellent. The whole beach team had a great vibe, great service, great attitude. Food & drinks were great too.

This place is the biggest rip off I have ever seen. If they didn’t have the view and the location then they would have closed down long ago. R160 for a bowl of rocket????? Madness man. That green goddess salad was a sham and not even that tasty. Nobody enjoys rocket that much that they would want to eat a whole bowl full of it. The chips are gross. All you taste is oil. The calamari also oily as hell. It’s actually shameful. Poor service too. You wait long for everything including the bill and have to remind your waiter that you ordered drinks 30min ago.

We had such ana amazing time here. The food was great and the service we received from Raj was impeccable. He was on the ball and took great care of us. Can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful place for cocktails and dinner. The large pizza is very good and large enough for two, see below, we also had a fish dish which was excellent. The chilli sauce should be used sparingly as it’s super hot 🥵. Service was a bit hit and miss, cocktails and food arrived fairly promptly but we had to ask 3 separate people for the bill. Even so highly recommended!

They were playing very loud music inside, so we sat outside (which is very pleasant, on a nice little beach with a nice view of the water). Then, during our time they started playing loud music outside too, so much so that we couldn’t engage in a conversation. The waiter was very friendly. However, one of our orders was completely wrong (4 star service). The food is mediocre (3 stars). Ambiance, 5 stars for the beach view and 1 star for the loud music.

What a memorable experience. Expensive but such an epic experience of food, and vibe. Also Cape Town put on a beautiful show of the weather when we went.

Poor service. Waiters only looking to serve the ones that look “wealthy”. We waited 2 hours for our food. Overall we were here for 3 hours and only had 1 meal and 1 drink. Pathetic service! I will not recommend this place at all.

Grand Cafe has great vibe. Restaurant is located next to the beach, you have an option of seating in the sand or restaurant. I would not recommend wearing stilettos for the ladies!. Great place for a lunch with friends or to celebrate a loved ones birthday. Wide selection of drinks available. They play current music as well, we did the Jerusalem dance here!. The menu is limited, i was not impressed by this. But i did enjoy myself here!

I took my partner today for her birthday celebration. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The view is spectacular, the food was awesome and the overall ambiance was just fantastic. Definitely a place to return to.

We visited the Grand on a Thursday evening for cocktails and some food. We sat on the beach front which is beautiful but the tables were dirty and the waiter did not clean them while we were there. We ordered two cocktails which took 1 hour to arrive, then after quickly ordering some food to try prevent further delay, we were told 45min later that one of the items (caprese salad) was not available. I understand things have been tough with covid, but a place like the Grand, with the prices they have, you expect a certain standard that was just not there. It's such a great place and the staff were friendly so I do hope things improve, because it would be shame otherwise.

The food and atmosphere was fantastic. However the tables near the water were placed too close and we asked to be placed somewhere else. Definitely not 1 5m between groups.

The Grand is perfect for anyone who wants to feel the sand between their toes with a view & smell of the Ocean. It provides gorgeous scenery and plenty of props for those insta worthy shots. Food is utterly delicious, service is great and the cocktails & gin selection is amazing. Definitely worth a visit for a day/night out with the family, friends or a solo mission.

Beautiful..... I wish covid 19 can be over... Would love to see this place buzzing again.... This is an amazing place and I enjoyed celebrating my birthday there with my fiancé.

It’s such a pity that the service at this place is so bad because it has a great opportunity to be a solid 5 stars. Food, drinks and location are amazing.

So this is my first ever complaint about a restaurant which means you must have been shockingly terrible. Please ensure what is on your menu is actually available or at least tell your waiters what isn't available so that they can warn us instead of having to come back for the 5th time to tell us something is unavailable. The things I ordered was in this order: part wolf lager, grand lager, leffe's, pizza, oysters...each time the poor waitress had to come back to tell me each one wasn't available. I ended up choosing a wine after asking her what was actually available. By that time I hadn't actually received a drink after an hour and a half let alone any food. You guys are letting the Cape town food scene down horrifically. And to boot, despite having paid secured parking we had a group of very drunk kids fighting and damaging our car with no one stepping in to sort things out. All in all I really have no desire to recommend you to anyone.

Service is terrible waitied for about 45 minutes for drinks and eventually when we received the drink after complaining to 2 managers was told the bar is busy (does it take 45 minutes to make a Mojito). The worse part when we received the food we received no cutlery and no salt n pepper, the tables that came after us received service before which we did not understand and when we ordered food we were told it doesn't come all at once which is unheard of, we so dissapoint with the service we received,

Awesome atmosphere

Not really a place for kids but our toddler was made to feel just as welcome as we were. A Pina colada combined with the paradisaical setting can easily have you believe you're on a tropical island.

Venue excellent, not much of a variety in foods. Very expensive for tasteless and bland food.

The venue is exceptional, fantastic sea views while having a drink with your feet in the beach sand. Excellent drinks selection. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was presented tastefully but unfortunately lacked flavour and missed that WOW factor. Everything was quite pricey but an overall great experience.
