Would have given 5* if not for the COVID theatre....this wearing a 😷 from the entrance to your table is nonsense, businesses & staff who ignore these idiotic govt guidelines have my full support. Unfortunately even after checking my temperature, sanitizing my hands, and visually inspecting me that I'm not I'll, they still insist wearing a 😷 for the 20ft to the table. Please stop this procedure. Other than that, the background African music was nice, strong wifi, and delicious veggie lentil wrap.

Wow, wow, wow. I'd hear so many rave reviews about Moyo, and it STILL exceeded my expectations. The food was incredible, the service was impeccable, and overall it was an amazing experience!

I was at Kirstenbosch with family to have an open air picnic lunch, with food supplied by moyo on Christmas day. This turned out to be an inspired choice as the weather was beautiful and the scenery fantastic. The food came in individual picnic carrier bags with a rather fiery olive, tomato and feta salad, hummus and pita bread, a chicken wrap, a fruit, bottled water and a chocolate brownie to finish off. The food was tasty with one quibble in that the wrap needed a bit more sauce. All in all it was a very good day in these Covid times. All this and no washing up.

It is a place where you can eat and drink while looking towards the Botanical Garden. Waiters can be a little cold, that's what happened to me.

Really good food and amazing service. I had a chicken sandwich with chips and it was served with such a delicious pumpkin bread. The chips was crispy yet so fluffy on the inside. I also enjoyed the live band which made such a good atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff is also very friendly so I will recommend this place and they don't take long to serve you.

Amazing restaurant in the heart of Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. If you happen to be in the park, make sure to stop by for a lunch or picnic. The kids can play outside on the little playground or run around on the wide open lawns. It is a bit more expensive - probably due to the tourist location. But it's absolutely worth it and you can take a short break before moving on exploring the Botanical Garden.

Don’t - this restaurant was very underwhelming. My company took us here for our farewell and the from the food to the service it was majorly lacking. The halal food which is outsourced wasn’t great and my colleagues found plastic AND hair in their meals made at the restaurant. The house/floor manager was unprofessional. There was no introduction when we arrived and she wasn’t pleasant to deal with. The “gourmet” milkshake wasn’t presented well either.

Booked for Xmas 2021. The food was amazing and it was buffet for eat as much as you want. Including deserts and a complimentary bottle of wine. The marimba band adds to its unique set up In the botanical garden with beautiful views.

Had the most delicious nachos ever here. The nachos were with a twist using hummus instead of avo and super yummy bean and peppers as a filling. The menu has reasonably priced food too.

Beautiful interior and dining experience. Great drinks. Freshness of the greens left something to be desired. Goes a bit lighter than I'd have liked on spices/marinade.

This could be so much better! The service is so bad! We were a table of 8 on a slightly busy but no where near full day. A few tables around us empty. Probably 65% capacity. It took 90 min for our mains to arrive. We did not order starters. 20 minutes after our drinks arrived I informed a passing waiter that my daughters milkshake was missing. 20 min further I had to call another waiting as it still hadn't arrived. No one came to check on us the entire 90 min even though four or five waiters regularly congregated at the till for a chat. The food was good. Fish and chips well priced, large portion and hot. Meat platter nice but the sides were small and bland. The worst is the entire restaurant, every wall and every table and every chair has a filthy dirty stain around the bottom. Like a dark shadow of filth on everything. The toilets sinks are mouldy. The walls covered in dirty unwashed marks. The skirting board around the bar peeling off to show chipped board. It just looks grotty. They need to close for a day, get the bleach and nail brushes out and give it a good clean!

It really is a beautiful setting. I took overseas visitors there for a meal. Food was tasty , but I was embarrassed with the delay in bringing the food to the table. After the first two meals arrived, there was a big delay before the other two meals arrived. The people who received their food first were nearly finished eating by the time the other food arrived

The service was very fast and friendly, the decor is very good and the vibes cozy and upmarket. We had the Fish and Chips, which was good and fresh. But the beef burger was absolutely tasteless, the meat did not contain a single ounce of seasoning, you'd expect better for the price. Chips was good though

Truly amazing views, worth going to just for the views but the food we had was also very good. I highly recommend the crocodile which was amazing. Service was quick and friendly. And truly can not beat the views.

As tourist travelling to Cape Town, South Africa, it's not easy to find local African food, but mostly western food. We got to taste local South African food here, ordered beef dombolo and lamb bunny chow. They are delicious.

I’ve experienced Moyo in person but today I ordered on Uber eats as I’ve also done before. I am extremely disappointed. I opened the bag to one of the containers and the dombolo is literally scraps, So soggy, I literally had 1 of the 4 and discarded the rest because it tastes like water. Same thing with the rice, overcooked and clumped together. I mean even the oxtail itself just tastes bland and the meat isn’t soft at all. This is extremely disappointing for a meal I had to pay over R500 for, I know it was close to closing time when I placed this order so perhaps this is their last servings but if you cannot fulfill an order to a good standard then why even accept it on the Uber eats ?

Tuesdays, pensioners have a free entry to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens & moyo Kirstenbosch has a discounted menu for pensioners. Food is excellent & the meal includes tea/coffee. One too may sit outside.

The location and vibe is good, African tunes both current and classics. They have a lovely play area for the kids and the venue overlooks the Kirstenbosch gardens surrounded by ponds. However the food is bland, I was dying for a little extra seasoning, but all we got was one sachet of salt and pepper each. I would just get drinks and chill.

The view is amazing and the food is tasty. It would have been a five star review if it would have been easier to track down a server. Being the far corner table on the patio did not help with the ability to track people down. However, if I did find myself back in the beautiful gardens and did not have a picnic planned I would definitely eat here again.

I WAS RIDDLED WITH DISAPPOINTMENT! Moyo is supposed to be known for its dedication to good tasting African cuisine - I experienced the complete opposite. I had the African fish stew. It definitely did not live up to its name as it lacked flavour. As a South African, I was embarrassed to know that this dish is served to foreigners who visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. It definitely SHAMES the distinct flavours indigenous South African cooking is known for. The stew was sour beyond comprehension since it was a tomato dish. It is understandable that tomatoes are sour in taste and cooking with it also lends food a sourness. However, a Chef should know that to eliminate intense acidity in a savoury dish, culinary skill calls for sweetness or fat to break the sourness. The dish I was served, tasted as though additional lemon was added and it did not make it appetising. The fish in the stew tasted canned, although it probably was not, and was not fresh at all. It was bitter and did not compliment the dish. The Moroccan rice I had with the stew had too much cinnamon and lacked salt. The "kluitjies" (dumplings) in the dish were dry and chewy. Also, to add, the pumpkin and peanut butter combination is a no-go. The peanut flavour was too overwhelming. The only part I enjoyed at Moyo Kirstenbosch was my iced coffee that took over 30 minutes to arrive. The restaurant was not that full and I would have hoped that my coffee had arrived earlier.

Stopped in at Moyo in the epic Kirstenbosch Bot Gardens yesterday for lunch, with Mom and her friend, both (shhhh) over sixty and so enjoying the garden for free on a Tuesday. Very generous Tuesday-menu for the over-sixties, and both enjoyed the pie and chips with tea/coffee for an extremely reasonable R69 each - lovely, well filled pies, salad and chunky chips. I thoroughly enjoyed the lamb bunny, in a sort of brioche loaf with very tasty Durban-inspired curry. Cannot fault the awesome view from the patio, of course, and felt safe with outdoor service and Covid-controls in place. And well looked after by Leeroy our waiter. Lovely day out, and Mom has decided should be a standard Tuesday-treat!

Firstly, I made a reservation for the summer breakfast promotion for 6 people and when we got there at 11h00, the waitress told me breakfast is finished. After reminding her that the website said it is available till 11h30, she went to go put the order in while they could have prepared it for us to be ready just after 11h00. After we started eating already, I had to gobinside to tell the manager that we did not get mushrooms and tomatoes as the menu on the website specified. To top it all, my daughter noticed lipstick marks on her glas in which water was served to her and neither she or I wore lipstick... how disgusting! After showing the glass to Lloyd, the manager, all that he could say was 'sorry'. I had to ask him how he is going to compensate because in a time of Covid this mistake was unforgivable. He gave my son a free coffee and my husband a free cool drink.. How disappointing after the terrible experience. I expect much better from a Moyo restaurant . My 1st visit to the Kirstenbosch one and doubt I will go back there again.
