Fantastic 5 star hotel on he V&A waterfront. The staff were extremely friendly, breakfast had an amazing choice and the tasting menu experience in their main restaurant was excellent along with the wine pairing. It was a good location and we felt safe to walk from there around the local shops and restaurants. Highly recommended.

I hurried to give an excellent rating to the hotel, but as a result, the hotel delayed the things handed over to the laundry, lost jeans, handed over for urgent washing, cleaned extremely poorly in the room, even taking into account the large tip that we left. Everything else is good. Wonderful hotel. Very beautiful interior. Functional rooms, everything you need, from slippers and bathrobes to fresh flowers in the room. Beautiful views from the rooms. Excellent location on the waterfront. Lots of restaurants and malls around. Breakfast is also good, but there is a long queue for sitting.

This is the worst hotel we stayed at during our stay in Cape Town! We didn’t rest at all during our 4 nights-stay! Loud/noisy sounds in the hotel at night, loud construction sounds outside can be clearly heard after midnight (even though windows are closed), the air conditioning closed for 2 hours every night (from 12 am to 2 am). Whenever something happens, we would try to call (reception, concierge, housekeeping, manager), only after many calls they would pick up and say it’s not their fault and we just have to wait. However, we couldn’t sleep at all. The hotel should inform us in advance about the shedding (electricity) and tell us if they have a back up solution for this or not. We resided in other hotels when the shedding happened, and they have a back up solution that works in 2 seconds. They also informed us beforehand. Whenever we complained at the front desk, they had bad attitude (or “i-don’t-care” attitude) and said it’s not their fault and it’s the country’s fault. Okay, we understand that, but at least you should have a good attitude about it, apologize to us, try to have a back-solution, or offer us something to redeem what’s happening. Also, whenever we request for something (e.g. extra pillows), they would take 2-3 hours to bring it, even though we call to remind them. when we request for something extra, they would say “no, our policy is 2 per room, that’s it”. We never heard this is any other 5-star hotel in the whole world. In conclusion, even though we tried to explain our issue everyday to the reception staff, they would be like “okay”, so there was no solution for any of our problems. One more thing, housekeeping.. they always forget items.. sometimes they forget dirty towels in the room, bed linen & pillows smell bad, they forget to restock so many things, so we have to call and ask for them. and when we were packing to check-out, the reception sent housekeeping 3 times to our room, opening the door without even knocking, telling that that we already checked out, even though we didn’t. that was soooo rude! I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone! It’s not worth the value at all, and doesn’t deserve the 5 stars. It’s very old and not renewed. The only good thing about the hotel is its location (it’s connected to the V&A waterfront mall), hence, the 1 star.

Everything was great here - it's a big hotel so you can be somewhat anonymous and come and go as you please. The staff are always willing to help and ensure you are having a nice time. It's in a great location and has some great views. Our room was very nice, overall I'd highly recommend this hotel!

Indulge yourself at the Table Bay hotel, good food, beautifully aged hotel with all the modern trimmings - for food there is none better in Cape Town. The best breakfast buffet that includes Sushi - come on! I like good food, give me fresh, tasty and healthy. Stayed few nights and loved the rooms - clean and fresh, well set out! Small gym if you looking for early morning workout before brekkies. Being able to step out to all the waterfront shops is fabulous! I loved it and we did High tea Christmas day. Not as grand as the breakfast but nice selection of pastries and cakes. Loved the dining area, and guys enjoyed cigars on the outside deck!

Great rooms and facilities available. Absolutely loved the location, very central and walking distance being the best part. Fantastic spread for breakfast as well. Well worth the price when one considers location and views from hotel room. Could have sat in the room and just enjoyed the views for days. Only downside was getting assistance as it seemed as though they were shot staffed. Had an issue with the television and after 3 calls and a 1 hour wait, finally got some assistance. With the price being paid, something like television assistance should not be an issue and that's where the 1 star is lost. As it happened on both nights.

Had a great long weekend at the Table Bay Hotel. We requested a room change after being put up in a room that had a view of a construction site. Management responded immediately and changed our room. We loved the loaction, the fantastic breakfast, the lovely lobby music and fantastic farmers market across the road. The proximity to the mall is also very convenient. We will definitely go back.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the room was clean and comfortable. The amenities were top-notch, and the on-site restaurant served delicious food. I would highly recommend this hotel for a great getaway.

I have never encounter any hotels asked to make payment first before they deliver your laundry back to u. I have to actually walked all the way down from my room just to make payment for the laundry than they will get it delivered to me. This is ridiculous. Terrible hotel policy!

One of the best hotels in Cape Town with stunning views from the rooms. If you book the room with mountain vies, you'll get to see Table Mountain from your room with harbor view as well. Nice room size, clean, comfortable and cozy with very friendly staff. We stayed twice at our visit in South Africa this trip once in February which was all perfect. The second stay was at the beginning of the March. We noticed a bit problem in the room, and informed the reception immediately. It did took a while to finally solve the problem, but the result is very satisfying. They provided us a room change and helped with settling everything. Guest Relations Manager, Vanessa, is the best and takes care of every detail with her heart. She handles the little problem so well that we feel so touched. The phone calls afterwards checking back to make sure if everything is ok also showed us that she truly cares. The hotel connects directly to the shopping mall from the lobby. Excellent location for shopping, restaurants and more. Breakfast in the hotel offers a great selection of variety and all delicious. Truly recommend for travelers from anywhere. Love this place, I'll definitely go back again.

The Table Bay Hotel, Capetown, S Africa, is a great location- right on the wharf and within walking distance to many tourist attractions. Staff is friendly and accommodating . Our room, on the top floor, was spacious, with a king size bed, and a great view of the bay. Breakfast is included : a large buffet with many fruits, cereals, nuts, meats, cheeses, juices and eggs and hot cereal can be ordered.

Great facility with an exciting mountain facing or ocean view. Warm and responsive staff, great food, easy connection to a mall for a wide range of shopping options. I had a wonderful time and would surely consider a repeat visit.

Hard to beat it... right in the heart of everything on the waterfront. Rooms either face the bay (like ours) or Table Mountain. It's a really big place with one of the best breakfast buffets I've ever seen.

Enjoyed a drink at the bar with a friend, haven't been here in ages. Hardly anyone around which was great as it was late. A nice spot to get away from the crowds at the V&A. To actually stay here is not possible, but maybe one day.....🧜🏽‍♀️I'm sure it's lovely.

Nice hotel with good location. Walk down and you can get pretty good eateries all within 5 mins walk, with a mall next door. Woke up to a good sunrise view in the morning.

We recieved very poor service one morning because we arrived at 10:30 am (end of breakfast). It was still open, and we were ushered in, but told to find out own table and we were not served. I had to try to work the coffee machine myself for a few minutes before someone came to help. There was no service at the table as everyone walked around us to avoid us. If they had simply closed the door we would have understood we were late. Aside from this unfortunate experience, the stay was delightful. What made it especially delightful was the incredible location (the best location in my opinion), coupled with the hotel being connected to a large indoor mall, made this the best choice we could have made for what we were looking for. Service in the bar and restaurant was excellent, the rooms are well appointed and what you would expect from a hotel of this caliber.

What a disappointment this turned out to be! We had family visiting from Durban and really wanted to spoil and impress them with a "Luxury High Tea" experience at this once fabulous Cape Town hotel! We seated ourselves, as there was no one around to seat us or welcome us, we then sat for a good 10-15 minutes before any staff bothered to acknowledge us. We ordered our teas and coffees and plated one or two tiny, very average cupcakes each. There was no "savory" selection laid out at all, and only when we asked about savories, was a small, rather disappointing assortment presented on a cake stack at the table preciselyworked out to 3 tiny nibbles each. By this time - 50 minutes in - we had STILL not been served our teas and coffees, and when I asked where they were, I was told, (with real ATTITUDE!) that she was busy at another table and would get to us "soon enough" !! Well, "soon enough" did not arrive, and eventually, all 5 of us stood, left our uneaten cakes on the table, had a word with the manager, and left without paying the bill!! At a charge of R450 per head , we expected some decent 5 star delicacies, some tasty High Tea sandwiches, and some great, South African hospitality. We got NONE OF IT and I do not recommend anyone going here for High Tea, or any other meal for that matter. We were very disappointed and embarrassed and we certainly won't ever go back! Rather, try Mount Nelson or The Silo if it's High Tea you're looking for.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay. The rooms are spacious and well laid out. Housekeeping was very good. Great bathrooms. Every staff member I came in contact with was friendly and helpful. Great location at the waterfront and connected to the Mall. Close to fine restaurants.

I find myself visiting the Table Bay Hotel atleast once every weekend. The perfect place for a relaxing evening and a good cup of coffee. Based at the V & A waterfront making it one of the most convenient locations in Cape Town. Always the best service. It feels like pure luxury from the moment you step in. Recommend to anyone wanting a luxurious experience.

This was really a disappointment. I looked forward to it for a very long time and it cost a fortune. The hotel is neglected and old. The rooms need desperate attention and upgrading. The service however was perfect and everyone was helpful and friendly.

Ok seriously WOW!! My wife and I went down for our 10th wedding anniversary and we were blown away... The hotel and rooms are incredible and the view of Table Mountain and the harbour... My word it was beyond awesome... Staff are wonderful and the breakfast each morning was on another level of divine... Thank you to all the staff that made our staff truly perfect!! We look forward to seeing you again really soon...

We stayed April 2021, and had a wonderful time! This hotel was beautiful, the location was perfect, convenient to the Waterfront shopping and dining! We had a slight hiccup upon arrival since we arrived late at night due to a flight delay, but management got involved right away and fixed the issue, they went above and beyond our expectations. Great customer service! Their laundry service was quick and convenient. Breakfast was delicious! Highly recommended!

Room smelt like smoke... definitely not a 5 star hotel anymore. Our previous stays, years ago were much better. Everything was just ...okay... very average. Will not go there again.

The High Tea at The Table Bay Hotel is served at "The Lounge". It is a well balanced 4 course affair. The vibe was quite relaxed, we went a day before Christmas so the hotel's themes were all about the festive season (an orchestra was singing). What added spices to this experience was the view of the Table Mountains from the restaurant. Unfortunately, there was no tea sommelier to walk us through the whole experience. Besides that, I had a great time.

A very revitalizing experience, the use of the couple spa was everything we needed it to be and more for me and my partner after weeks of non stop work. It really was an outstanding experience. The 2 ladies in charge of the massage made the experience so rewarding and honestly just thier good attitude created such a positive and relaxing space. Thank you. Highly recommend for couples and anyone looking to take a much needed break.

Stayed here for 2 nights in November. This hotel has not lost its flair. We had a superb stay in sea facing room. The room is well laid out and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is to die for. The hotel’s location is great, right on the waterfront.

What a beautiful experience! The food was amazing! Rooms and location perfect. We were celebrating our anniversary and my wives birthday and I have to say the way our room was prepared "TJO" I have seen 💯% better. No effort at all

One of the best place I have ever been for my first visit to this famous city of Cape Town. With a unique and paramount view on the bay, the famous wheel, and of course, Table Mountain. The room was perfect. The restaurant--The Atlantic--was good. The conference room was perfect. An appropriate "box" for the "pearl" meeting I have attended there.

  • 4/5 kapil r. 1 year ago on Google
Great location, views and service with a good overall experience. Breakfast - average. Discovered 2 hairs in my meal! Apart from that, too few breakfast seatings to accompany all the guests with regular lines every morning. Servicing of rooms can be quite inconvenient if you’ve returned earlier than expected to your room, you will be informed your room is being serviced upon attempted entry. The elevators seemed intermittently functional, having gotten stuck in one for a few minutes when the door refused to open Upon request for the greet staff at the entrance to valet park the vehicle, I was informed there is no valet, which is disappointing. There is optional paid parking, which is literally adjacent to the free parking with covering awnings and is an unnecessary option Room service is decent, but over-priced, costing more than some fine dining restaurants The reservation and reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and made the stay pleasant

You really can’t beat the location of this hotel in the heart of the V&A waterfront area. I really enjoyed having breakfast on the porch with panoramic views of table mountain. The pool was amazing also, with a large sitting area and easy access to drinks. Only improvements would have been to have more reliable/faster internet connection in the hotel (it was less the 10mbs p/s sometimes which was annoying). Rooms and hotel were well appointed, but property does show some age. Rooms were well appointed but probably will be due for a refresh soon. Overall, really enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend to any leisure travelers.

A very good hotel in a beautiful location with natural beautiful landscape. Rooms could be a little bit more updated though, for a 5 star hotel. The service was initially somewhat, but was very much improved later. My special thanks to all who made our stay enjoyable, especially Chelsea Jephthah at the concierge for all her assistance. Very much appreciated and we look forward to coming back soon!!!

We just finished up a 4 night stay at the Table Bay Hotel. We booked a room with the Table Mountain view and were so glad we did. It was truly worth it and the view was amazing! Breakfasts were wonderful with so many options, including a made-to-order omelet station and you could order eggs benedict from the waitstaff. The spa was fabulous and it was relatively easy to book appointments as we were not there during prime tourist season (late Sep). When coming to Cape Town in the future, I would not hesitate to book this hotel again. Great service, perfect location, and wonderful views. Oh, and definitely book a helicopter ride with the concierge. We booked the 3 Bays helicopter tour and loved every minute of it. I would absolutely do that again!!! It was the highlight of our trip.

I have tried The Table Bay Hotel for two times, the first time in 2016 and the second time in July 2022 with our 4 years old son. Aside from its incomparable location, its staff is the unique factor to make it number 1 selection for us. Indeed it is not the most affordable option but it is the one that will make you feel at home with your dearest friends company. What we have experienced at the Table Bay Hotel is totally another level of “customer satisfaction”. I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I have to describe them as angel-like staff, saint’s, friends, or more. I would like to mention three staff who made our experience amazing and unforgettable; Mr. Rafik, Ms. Chelsea, and Mr. Dane. Those are the assets Table Bay Hotel should nourish and maintain to exemplify the real hospitality skills. If I am going to visit The Table Bay Hotel again it will be because of these three staff, and I hope it will be soon.

Breathtaking. Luxurious and upmarket yet relaxed and comfortable. From evening functions which are spot on perfect, to late night snack platters with wine on the balcony, then the most impressive breakfast buffet you could imagine. Everything here makes it the best address in Cape Town!

  • 5/5 David S. 1 year ago on Google
Great view, great room, friendly staff, safe area to walk around! We stayed here for a few nights as a way to relax and still get out around town, but also have a safe place to walk in the afternoon and evenings along the boardwalk. The breakfast was good, the staff friendly and helpful, and plenty of dining options within a 5-10 min stroll along the waterfront or the adjoining mall. Easy access to the mall from the hotel, the concierge was helpful in arranging tickets for tours, the rooms are spacious and clean, and very comfortable. For evening cocktails, find something else nearby. The presentation was nice but red velvet cake and the cocktails were disappointing, both of which should have been easy wins for such a nice hotel.

The location was great but for the price I expected a much better service. In all my travels this is the first time I was made to feel like I was an inconvenience. We arrived at 11am tired from a very long overnight flight and was told check in was 3pm and to go for a walk which we did. We then came back at 12:30 and sat in front of the reception and fell asleep. Woke up at 1pm and asked if the room was ready and was told 'yes and your luggage is in your room'! The luggage was not in the room and the staff didn't have the courtesy to wake us and tell us the room was available. We went for breakfast and asked if we could sit at a table that was in the shade - we were told 'no' as the table needed to be cleaned and was directed to a seat in the sun! Staff were slow when ordering drinks but not so slow to provide the bill and expect a tip. The only time there was an efficient service was people running to open doors for taxi's undoubtably hoping for a tip. They couldn't get the country code right when they tried to call me. I think they have serious staff training issues and is relying on their past reputation because of the famous people that have stayed there.
