Have spent a few nights earlier for a business event near the CTICC, which makes this hotel ideal for. Close to VA waterfront with a shuttle service every 30min/1h till late. The noise from the city tends to creep in if you leave a window open that might disturb some people. Room was clean and felt modern. When it comes the front desk, they get 5 stars. Great service with a smile, and any issues they are well suited to assist. The food at the hotel might need some work. Presentation looks great, but some of the items on the buffet menu was dry and not well seasoned. So I would suggest get something else from the menu. For value for money, this Hotel does meet the requirements. Would recommend.

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of days while I was on a work trip and I had a decent stay. It’s in a central area and not as tiny as other hotels I’ve stayed in, again it’s “decent” if you’re alone. Housekeeping did a good job cleaning everyday and the hotel buffet provided by the hotel was good, the staff is also friendly and helpful. I honestly have no major complaints regarding my stay.

Very Comfortable Stay. This is at a very good location close to Mall , City, KFC. They have shuttle service to mall. It is better to take it if tourist .The service I loved compared to other places. The food was tasty with great options . View is beautiful. The restaurant staff were nice and welcoming. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Check-in was smooth, thanks to Eugene. Thanks to Don, who was very helpful and kind and went extra mile to make our stay comfortable. Highly recommended

The hotel is pleasant at a great affordable rate. I was amazed with the breakfast supper team. They work at 200% with overflowing customers! I recently stayed at the Palace at the Lost City in Sun City, and with few people they can’t move nearly as quick and efficiently. What class , absolutely superb.

Laughably bad service in most every regard, but especially in the F&B department. Everything VERY dated. So many odd rules, policies, and procedures as well. Employees had an attitude of “no” for most any request, and genuinely seemed not to want to be there. Just a very poor experience all around.

We booked in with our family and had the worst experience since the day we checked in. The management here are rude, arrogant and have no idea what good customer service is. We have stayed in hotels around the world and never felt more unwelcome than in our own country. The rooms were incorrectly allocated despite us having the confirmations printed and easily available, we were constantly being checked out of our rooms, we were given a room with only one bed despite specifically booking 2 beds for a family of 3 and these are just a few that I’ve mentioned but I think what made it worse was the attitude of the managers. We will never return to this hotel, nor advise anyone else to. We regret bringing our family here and the constant issues and don’t care attitude has just ruined our trip. The waiting, cooking and cleaning staff are amazing, wish they were in charge.

Convenient location close to the mall. Pick up spots for the hop on hop off are close by. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. Good breakfast buffet and the staff were great. We came during a convention and rugby match, despite how busy it was the staff kept things flowing nicely.

Good location. It is not a new hotel. Well managed and maintained, good facilities, but they need to renovate and upgrade. Good restaurant and cafe, good gym. Service is, in general is good. They have to improve customer service and support.

Had a very nice short experience. The place room service is awesome 👌 👏. Great entertainment and bar area and the room is excellent. Nice view of the central business district of the city of cape town with the view of the origin of both N1 and N2 national routes. Walking distance to V & A Waterfront as well as CBD and CTicc.

The service is embarrassingly bad, we felt unwelcome and were treated badly from the moment we arrived. Long lines at breakfast, where the lady at the front desk thinks she is running the place, taking her time and enjoying bossing the clients around. I have never seen something like this in all my life. When attempting to speak to management, you end up getting scolded. Rooms are dirty, have a lingering smell of tobacco and overall are very outdated. The general management should definitely be changed, worst experience of my life in a hotel and Southern Sun overall.

Overall a good hotel. Breakfast chefs need to greatly reduce on high oil usage. Food is too oily. Everyday I had to voice-out on the stirfry dishes literally swimming in oil. Flapjacks are a great touch. Concern on a continuous observation... concierge or front door staff must be consistent on assisting guests arriving at drop off. If the policy is to open doors for guests, it should apply to ALL guests irrespective of race or make of car. Reception front line staff must be attentive. I ordered a 5am breakfast, filled out paperwork, but because lady was busy chatting with her colleague, my request was never processed and one had to leave with food. Great hotel. Well located otherwise.

Staff are approachable and helpful. Room is small. No iron and board are available in room. Gym is bad, only one machine available and it's been 2 months inoperative and still haven't fix it.

We stayed for 8 nights, breakfast was great with good selection. Friendly, hospitable staff, always a smiling face 🌝 Housekeeping was also great. Only one thing was there was a smoker in a room near us & it was smelling our room out. Close to V & A Waterfront, which we walked to a few times during our stay. If we go to Cape Town again, we would stay there. Good job to all the staff.

A beautiful hotel at a perfect location. Near from everywhere Decent restaurant with nice food. I love their staff. The hotel has hired the best staff members ever. I sat at the bar as well and loved the staff and the menu there too 💛 Simply best ✨

The rooms were neat, trendy, clean, well equipped. The breakfast chaos was superbly dealt with. The staff were helpful and always available. The shuttle was really handy.

The beds are uncomfortable, the breakfast was not tasty except for the soft croissants. The bar and in-room dining staff is very unfriendly. There's a cook by the name of "Baby Girl", she's very friendly I must say and makes you feel at home. Apparently you're not allowed to use your sunrands for the in-room dining and only at their bar, how ridiculous.

My experience at the hotel was excellent. From it's location, literally a 5 minute walking distance to Bo - Kaap colored Houses and another 15 minutes to the Alfred and Victoria mall in Cape Town. Offers a pleasant view of the city but more importantly... Sits on the route of the Red City Tour Bus... A great hop on-hop off experience and the Table Mountain Cable Car isn't far away. Furthermore, you could observe the weather conditions of Table Mountain if you get the right room... Right from your bed! Not to mention the buffet meals, very affordable even with a modest budget. I particularly loved the breakfast service graced by two very engaging chefs!

Place was great! We had a room with the best views! 👌🏾 Sad part was the service with regards to food was very slow, and waiters took long to give feedback on delays with orders😕 but they were friendly. The actual food when it finally arrived was delicious! 😋

We had such a great stay. Breakfast was fantastic and so many options, staff were on the ball. Dinner at the bar restaurant was great quality and very tasty, staff were great as well. Check in and check out was smooth. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Only complaints, was minimal storage in the room that is a 4 sleeper. We were so looking forward to the buffet at Yenzani all week. It was confirmed to me at the beginning of our stay that the buffet was on Saturday and again on the day at the front desk, what time the buffet started and all seemed good. We arrived at the buffet just to be turned away because of a private event... The front desk failed to mention this to us, we were very disappointed.

Have stayed at this hotel several times over the last few years. Great team. Nice breakfast selection. The rooms are in need of a revamp now though. Lovely central location with a free shuttle to the V&A waterfront. Underground parking is available at a cost.

Horrible receptionist on 31st March early morning at approximately 7h20. The receptionist had a casual conversation somebody who appeared to be known to her. Despite my plea to hurry up as I getting late for my meeting , she rudely interjected and asked if I couldn't see that she was still attending to a customer. She further said to me that I would not be given a special treatment. The hotel was great the food was so scrumptious and all other staff members were so friendly and helpful.

The price to quality ratio is good. The breakfast is varied enough that it does not get boring. They have a swimming pool, underground parking and a free shuttle to the waterfront which was very much appreciated. They could work on sustainability. Towels were laundered every day whether or not they were on the floor. Worst was to come back one evening to find the lights on, window open and air conditioning on maximum. House keeping thus wasted several kWh of energy completely needlessly. This during a time of load shedding!!

After a lovely weekend at the hotel, I got home to realise I have lost my wedding ring in the room. I phoned the hotel and within 30 minutes they let me know they've located it and will keep it safe at security until I pick it up. Thank you so much for great professional service

We had the most comfortable and pleasant stay. The room was scrupulouly clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. The city experienced a power outage, the hotel engaged their generators and no one was inconvenienced. The breakfast is well varied, and the hostesses lovely in their colourful wear. Thank you, you will be seeing us again.

This hotel is located in a very convenient location. The room was well furnished with quality sheets and bedding. From the 14th floor you have a nice view of the city. The air-conditioning did not work 100%. Unfortunately I didn't get good service when I was there, it might be an isolated incident.

I was packed into quite a small room with a very high price tag. It was quite clean and for the most part OK. Aircon controls look like they were lifted from Noah's arc. Lighting in the room was a bit dismal. Service was prompt and friendly with one exception, I asked for non-feather pillows and they gave me goose feather pillows to replace the existing ones. Overall not a bad experience, perhaps not my first choice in the future.

We stayed at southern sun waterfront during the start of our South African trip. The hotel is comfortable and well equipped, with gym and pool facilities, a decent bar and a very good breakfast selection. The hotel also provided a free shuttle bus service to and from the waterfront area of cape town. The staff were all polite and friendly, with a special shout out to Mary and her colleague the egg ladies, who were fab, very cheerful and chatty every morning, and cooked the self proclaimed "best omelettes in cape Town' ☺️. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel, hence why I haven't given 5 stars is our room was at the front of the hotel, overlooking the intersection of a busy motorway/ highway and was very noisy, so if you are a light sleeper or, like me you like to have a window open for some fresh air at night, be mindful of this when booking and perhaps ask for a room at the rear of the hotel, or bring some earplugs! Otherwise perfect for a short break in Cape Town and I would definitely stay here again.

After a long day exploring returning to this hotel is seriously disappointing! Apart from the tiny rooms, dirty and smelly showers, And poor customer service over the telephone one feels a prisoner rather than a guest. My wife and I were told that if we wanted more than two small 330 mL bottles of water we would have to go down to the lobby and purchase them! On the other hand the security staff are wonderful and helpful. Customer service questionable.

Really enjoyed my stay and had great staff experience. Mary-Anne made sure I had her best choice of breakfast and Thandi made my tea just the way I like it..... My room was comfortable and cleaned nicely on a daily basis. Thank you guys

Staff was very friendly and helpful, unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable, resulting in very little sleep and joint pains, the shower I found to be claustrophobic, maybe consider removing the bath tubs from some rooms. Could also not find any clues on the wifi, until the reception staff assisted me. Additionally I was locked out of my room after a day out for work. I guess the hotel thought I needed some exercise to walk back down to reception and back to my room, even though I made arrangements earlier in the day. Lastly, breakfast is at 6h30, however the early birds should not go down to the restaurant earlier than that as you will be asked to wait for the restaurant to open. One more thing, my bar fridge was completely empty but had a seal on it so I could keep any food items cold and fresh. This was really weird.

The stay at this hospital was severely disappointing. The 1st room we were placed in, had a leaking toilet that took 3 calls before resolved. On the 3rd call, we were changed to a different room that did not have a working air conditioner (this is mid winter in cape town). By 3 our rooms were not cleaned, and we had to call reception in order to get someone to clean (this too, poorly done). Water and drinks from our mini fridge were stolen. The entrance to the hotel is on a busy road just up from a Taxi Rank. The incline to enter and exit the parking is a nightmare, and is made even more so by people parking off at the entrance. The staff do nothing to help the situation along (ie, ushering parked vehicles away from the area, or assisting with traffic control in the drop off zone). For the amount that you have to pay, I would not recommend this hotel.

First visit, and it was by chance. Our flight was canceled and we were booked into Southern Sun. It's serenity calmed alot of us down. We were comfortable and treated really well. The breakfast was lovely, we were all catered for, vegan and halaal options were available. The service was lovely, really friendly and accommodating staff. The rooms are spacious, crisp and comfortable. We will definitely consider it next time.
