I was pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of this experience. We used the Cape Town Red Bus to get there and didn't actually think we were going to stop at first and I didn't even know about this place and I live in Cape Town. We spent about an half an hour in the first area and thought we were almost done only to find out there was a monkey area, birds of prey, reptiles and a mystery forest. The staff are friendly and willing to answer any questions. There were some guided areas and feedings during the day which proved to be quite informative. If you are going as a family I suggest you look at the annual pass as there was quite a savings by taking the membership option

Amazing place to spend quite some time. I went with my one and a half year-old daughter. We went at 10:30 in the morning and didn’t leave until after three. We stayed for both of the monkey play sections time slots. Also have a beautiful selection of birds. If you’re lucky you can collect beautiful feathers on the floor. We got a whole bunch 🪶🦚

What a wonderful experience. Large walk-through aviaries and a myriad of birds. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the animals appear well taken care of. The monkeys and lemurs are fascinating to watch. It's especially good to know that there is a place that offers sanctuary to injured animals. Be prepared to spend time, and take cash for little extras.

Experience one of the few large bird parks in the World Over 3 000 birds (and small animals) of 400 different species are uniquely presented in more than 100 spacious landscaped walk through aviaries, allowing you the most intimate closeness with nature. A tropical garden setting in the Hout Bay Valley is the environment in which the aviaries are spaced over 4 ha of land, framed by the back of Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles, Constantiaberg, Chapman’s Peak and Little Lion’s Head. A paradise for nature lovers and photographers, the World of Birds is one of Cape Town’s premier tourist attractions which no visitor should miss. 100 000 visitors annually enjoy the outing to the World of Birds.

We absolutely loved it here!!! Great displays with well looked after animals. We even got face to face with a few owls, and the squirrel monkey interactions were a great experience. A must-visit for adults and children, locals and tourists.

I was pleasantly surprised! I was really expecting the place to be a lot smaller, but was impressed by the size and variety of birds and all the little monkeys. We drove from Cape Town and it was a scenic drive through the mountain roads to Hout Bay. It wasn’t too long a drive maybe 40min from Blouberg. The roads are beautiful filled with trees but take it slow because of the narrow streets, twists and turns. Upon arriving there was decent amount of parking and we didn’t need to queue on the day to get in. The entry fee was a little high BUT after doing the tour it was worth it. We took all the family and kids, from as young as 17 months up to 9 years old. The kids really loved it, when the littlest one. The place was clean, staff were friendly, there are easy access toilets, a cafeteria and ample seating to enjoy a lunch or picnic as well. They do provide you with a map of the facility which is great because we may have missed a lot of secret spots if we didn’t follow the map. Viewing the birds and monkeys was great, you can often get up close to many of them and they even had some wild cats which was a nice surprise. Everything from birds and reptiles, to monkeys and tortoises. We spent quite a few hours there. The highlight for us was the little monkey tour where you can go into one of the big cages with a tour guide and the little monkeys run around climbing all over you. The kids loved it. (So did I) I have to admit that while in the facility I felt like I wasn’t in Cape Town anymore. The backdrop of the mountain and the tropical trees combined with the sounds of the birds and animals made me feel like I was in a jungle in Asia. I highly recommend you visit World of Birds especially if you are looking to take your kids and family somewhere for a day outing

Visited on a public holiday. Was a nice warm sunny day. Went family and two kids. Kids ages 8 to 13. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially the monkey jungle tour, where they interacted with the squirrel monkeys. Some enclosures allowed u to walk through where the birds were not entirely closed off. Saw some monkeys, variety of birds, tortoise and turtles, alpacas, miniature goats etc. I've been there many years ago and must say there were a lot less birds than before. Spent about 3hours there. There is a coffee shop that sells snacks as well as a gift shop. Overall it was a lovely afternoon spent with family. There are picnic areas as well. And the place is quiet clean as well. Gravel parking on the outside. Not too crowded. Costs were R50 per child and R130 per Adult (August.2023)

Well kept sanctuary with close to 150 exhibits of some amazing birds and other creatures. Not a zoo, and many of the animals and birds are rescues. Caters for young and old alike. A great favourite is the Monkey Jungle, with cheeky squirrel monkeys providing loads of entertainment. Worth a short wait in the queue. Lots of rest areas, picnic tables, a souvenier shop, clean restrooms, takeaway restaurant. An awesome spot to spend an afternoon.

We had a fantastic time at the World of Birds. I was not expecting to see monkeys, tortoises, reptiles, hamsters, goats and alpacas too! But it was a pleasant surprise for my little one who had the best time. I’m glad we went early in the morning and we got to see everything the place had to offer before 12 pm, as it started to fill up with tour groups. I will definitely visit again.

Amazing day out for the family. Go into the Secret Garden for a picnic and look for Fred. He's the bird in the picture with the pink bald head and long beak. He's very friendly and will come and give you presents. Sticks, stones and more. Wonderful time there and will definitely be going back.

While I was visiting the mother city, a friend of mine suggested we check out the place as he knows I love animals, so we walked around seeing different types of bird species, and I was so intrigued when I saw a black ravens as I only saw them in movies but I got to see it. The place is so big and nice, but I didn't get to enjoy it fully because while I was checking out the monkeys, the weather decided to start raining, and then I ended the trip. I would recommend the sanctuary to people who share the same love as me to nature and animals.

We had an AMAZING day! There are so many beautiful birds to see and most of the enclosures are open - which basically means you get the chance to walk amongst the birds and take beautiful pictures. Some of the birds: 🐔🐓🐧🕊️🦅🦆🦢🦉🦩🦚🦜🐦 There are also guinea pigs 🐹, tortoises 🐢, snap turtles, serval cats, monkeys 🐒, lemurs, reptiles 🦎🐍, giant snails 🐌, alpacas 🦙, goats 🐏 and many more! The monkey feed was by far the best experience of the day. Having these little critters climb & jump over you & being able to watch their silly antics close-up, was definitely one of my favourite things to do! Can't wait to visit them again 😁 One thing I think one tends to maybe not take much notice of (too many distractions) are the flowers and plants. 🌻🌼🌱🌳🌺 They are really quite beautiful. The restaurant has a sufficient variety to choose from I suppose. I was not very impressed with the staff in the restaurant. They could be a bit more friendly. A smile goes a long way! The rest of the parks staff was really very friendly & professional. Thank you! 😊 If you are looking for a days outing well worth the trip & money, then I would suggest a visit to World of Birds Wildlife Sanctuary!!

The variety of birds there is great. It's a wonderful and educational outing for children and all ages. I just believe that there is a lack of maintaining and cleaning the enclosures regularly. But all in all, it's a great rehabilitation and education centre.

I loved being able to be so close to so many animals, I missed more attention in some cages.. the spaces seem small, visibly some animals miss human contact as some of them were domesticated and are there for recovery.. 4 hours are not enough to see everything! # Don't go to eat there, the place doesn't have many options and my order came completely different from what I asked for..( but , it’s okay.. sometimes happens) You can have a picnic there, as long as you notify the staff in advance.. # it is not allowed to feed the animals.. I'm not going to give 5 stars because for me the spaces too small for them..

I love coming here. A beautiful day out strolling through various aviaries with beautiful birds. They also have a variety of mammals and reptiles to see. It is a large park so wear comfortable shoes and bring water for hot days. There is a cafeteria and a gift shop as well.

World of Birds is a fun activity to do with friends or family. They have a variety of animals, not only birds to look at, learn from and interact with. On entry you receive a map of the park and it guides you where to go and what animals is in the cages coming up. Some enclosures are open so you can easily interact with animals such as cages 1-14. Each cage has some interesting facts of each animal in the cage to broaden your general animal knowledge. They have feeding times listed if you are interested to see them eating. The squirrel monkeys have regular feeding times so you can go in and let them walk and crawl all over you. I highly recommend it!

A really lovely day out... A good variety of animals and birds. It was our first time at Wobs, the kids loved it and so did the adults. Would put the whole day aside as it will take quite some time to view the entire sanctuary. Also take note of when certain experiences and sections are open. Will definitely be visiting again

The animals are truly the highlight. This place has a variety of bird species, monkeys, wild cats, a play place, dining area - their food is not halal (they sell ice cream and packaged halal things though). The entrance fee is definitely tourist pricing but it's totally worth it!

Monkeys were my favorite part. Didn't enjoy seeing caged birds, no matter how big the cage, it's still a cage. Weird how some birds were free to fly to and from the sanctuary and others were caged. But the monkeys were defs my fav

Loved the place. Amazing activity at monkey's par. It was all worth. If your going to do it first time you are going to love it and if it's your another visit, you know the real fun. And it is also fun to watch penguins at their feeding time.

I have never had such a wonderful time with watching birds and many animals present there . In the very start, the birds section is fully open and they just roam around you which feels so nice to look at them . Also saw penguin feeding and spent time with monkey (which is only allowed in some specific time with a staff only) A great place to spend time with family

Such a fun place to visit for kids and adults. You get to explore all the cages with the birds and some of them aren't even behind cages but you still need to be careful and respectful. It's educational and you get to do cool things like have the squirrel monkeys sit on you or watch the penguins being fed. There are various places you can picnic. The website says they do light meals but that includes sandwiches and burgers that ew very reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time.

This place is fantastic!!! A well maintained sanctuary for birds and other animals. A fantastic place to take the kids. This is one opportunity, you should never miss, to see these beautiful animals up close and personal. Some are popular. Some very rare. Seeing these animals in documentaries, does not come close to seeing them before your eyes. Get to The Worlds Of Birds!!!

This was quite an interesting experience- walking inside the actual closures of the birds. The “restaurant” available is actually more of a café, where what we thought would be a quick bite to eat took longer than we expected. The play areas were also less than desirable and need some maintenance- however I appreciated having these play areas available as we waited for our food. It was good to read the origins of the park, which provided good context when walking about the park. The park itself is in decent shape- you can tell they work hard to keep the space clean, and also provide decent living conditions for the various animals they have. Props to them for that. It seems that this sanctuary could do with a little more support to get to a much higher standard as a tourist attraction. Overall it was a decent afternoon out.

I have been back to the world of birds many times over the years. I now find myself taking my children there, and they're teenagers themselves. An urgent appeal to the public to support the venue. There is a lot of work to be done with very little funding. Come on folks, the animals need to be fed and cages cleaned in order for our future generation to enjoy "The World of Birds"

  • 5/5 Nevena P. 5 months ago on Google
Fantastic place to go with children below 3years. Especially when it is very windy outside. We visited on a very sunny but very windy Sunday and found shelter from both in the park. We thought the entrance fee is a bit high but after we completed the walk we realised it's actually logical. The facilities and the birds/animals need so much maintenance and care. Our daughter is 18 months and had so much fun! She finally made a link between the actual animal and the sounds we are teaching her using books with pictures. Her, usually short, attention span wasn't lost even for a minute! It took us 2 hours to visit each cell without spending too much time on any bird/animal. I recommend going early in the morning as they feed the animals at around 9am.

We had an amazing morning. The entrance fee of R130 per person is definitely worth it. Pathways to aviaries is designed to literally walk into each other and there is a huge amount of birds to see. The monkey jungle was awesome with a lot of small monkeys climbing all over you and up to a lot of mischief.
