A legendary place worth the trip. Park admission fee is steep at over R350 per adult but the chance to be there is once in a lifetime for most people so it’s worth it. Lots to see and do and areas to hike and explore including an overnight hiking option that would have been great to know about. Baboons come out in force near sunset so be careful with them.

Important tips. It’s quite expensive for non South African residents check the prices before you go The restaurant at the time of review had. O alcohol. It was due to their license Be aware of baboons! I saw one enter the shop and steal two bags of chips. Take the Funicular up and down. Don’t waste your time walking and it’s cheap. Best time to go is weekdays Make sure to also check out the other roads along the beach. The Cape of good hope is not just the lighthouse. The road the to the beach has a lot of big wildlife.

Stunning views. We did the trail from cape point to cape of good hope and it was beautiful- highly recommend and not challenging. Views from the top we saw Wales and seals plus lots of birds ! (And a few lizards) A real highlight was spotting some Eland !

Just beautiful. The path to the cape of good hope and back is about 1.5 hours. We did it and we are more the glad to have to have done it. Also the rest of the national Park is so beautiful. You could see some wild animals. ;)

Amazing place, we saw baboons and an ostrich! Lovely views from the top, although parts of the water is covered in seaweed and it does get really windy here. Hike from parking lot is not long and fully manageable even on a windy day (they have longer hikes including a 90 minute one from cape point).

This place is very nice. The thing which makes me disappointed is the entrance fee. It is just over expensive and in that price is included just entrance through one gate. At this price, I can enjoy a lot of different fun, etc. Yes, the landscape is beautiful but the same is also around where is it for free. Anyway, this place isn’t that place where I want to go twice. Even one time is not worthy 🤷‍♀️

Quite high entrance fee but worth every penny! Is an amazing place with gorgeous views. We took long walks (others might call it hikes) and enjoyed every minute.

It’s absolutely stunning! However, I just think the price you pay is not worth it. For us we took a picture with sign, walked up the fun (more like challenging) path to an offices site and grabbed takeout from the one store. There is nothing more to do within the park besides see different views. Oh and it can get WINDY!!! We went and it was probably thee worst wind I’ve ever experienced

Kudos to the authorities for maintaining the raw beauty of the area! This was such a great day out and for those thinking of exploring on your own, it is POSSIBLE. The only fee you pay is R360 (non-citizens) but you’re able to self-drive at your own ease. I did two hikes around the different capes and there’s nothing like it around! You’d be able to see wild animals like whales, ostriches, baboons, springboks and many more. I’d come back in a heartbeat!

Experience the famous historical site for many explorer. Cape of Good Hope offers great way to see the precarious peninsula from bottom up and top down view. Trail leads to and back from Cape Point and vice versa. Lovely walk. Good spot to watch seabirds.

Expensive entrance fee of about 600 Rand per head. But worth every penny. Great views, great nature and animal sightings. You can visit cape point and the lighthouse. Two oceans restaurant is good, but very busy and touristic. I would take a few bottles of water or soda to go.

It is a beautiful place. The walk to the lighthouse is a nice one. The wind was howling at the top. Just a reminder that we do not control everything. We enjoyed the visit tremendously. 🤗

One of the most beautiful and unforgettable memories of my life. The meeting of the Atlantic and Indian ocean was an incredible experience. You can see how is different the two ocean while one is so dark blue the other light opaline green.

My cell phone was out of reach. There is a small cost to enter the park and you have access to the Cape of Good Hope , Cape Point and also bathrooms .. , the funicular was not working, so we walked. It’s quick and easy , I recommend arriving early, before lunch and going first to the top and then going down ... pets are not allowed, I recommend not leaving food visible, baboons are crazy about industrialized food.. I saw zebras and ostriches only ..

Cape of good hope, it’s a real tourist attraction, everybody wants a picture at the sign “ most southern point of south Africa” Beautiful coast line so special. Be careful though when you drive through the mountains, it can be very narrow at times especially if a bus is coming from the other side or if you would want to overtake a bus. SAFETY FIRST!!! You can see seals in the sea and on the rocks. For the rest… just enjoy all the views and wind and sun and music of the waves of the sea

If you are visiting cape Town, one of the things I would definitely recommend is taking a trip to the cape of good hope....you could book a ticket with the city tour bus or perhaps hire a car. I enjoyed the trip there using the tour bus, as there were such great views on the way:buildings ,beaches, mountains, beautiful flowers as you drive through the national park and perhaps spot some wildlife too,. It's an all day activity if you are using the bus as you make another stop on the way to see the penguins...at the final stop, there is a lighthouse which gives spectacular views of the cape as you also get to see where the 2 oceans meet, then you either take a little hike down to the actual cape or use the bus(vehicle) to reach the cape(with the "cape of goodhope sign)..to reach the lighthouse, there is also a short hike up, but nothing too hectic,it's manageable for anyone without medical conditions

The entrance is a bit expensive but when you come down from the lighthouse you have to take a ride! We first went to the lighthouse and before that on the way we saw ostriches! And when we came down from the mountain we did a tour of the place which was very big, it took five hours we saw many animals like deer, goats and zebra! The map helped us a lot, you don't just go to the lighthouse. You have to drive to see the other animals and the amazing place in the reserve!

Lots to see and do- beautiful beach, maybe see whales, lighthouse, spectacular views. Lots of stairs if walking or take funicular to top. Left my pale green fleece at top by accident, hanging on a hook. Started going back for it but decided not to hold up the tour. Hello Cape of Good Hope from Moffat, Texas!

Beautiful views all round and plenty to see and do. The Park is well looked after and the service levels from the staff is exceptional. Weather can be temperamental, so carry a wind breaker or jacket along just in case the wind picks up. The beaches are really great, we spent some time on the coast, very fascinating 👏

Cape of Good Hope.. The Most South-Western Point on the African Continent. Previously known as the Cape of Storms due to the violent storms in the area and the multitude of rocks that wrecked multiple ships, the name was changed after Vasco Da Gama discovered the sailing route from Europe around Cape Point to India. (Note- he wasn't the first to sail to Cape Point.) The discovery of the new shipping route was cause for Optimism- hence the name "Good Hope". I liked the old name better- more melodramatic 😂 The preserve holds some of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world due to the different Currents from the Atlantic and Pacific- yes the oceans don't meet here. The cliffs are beacons urging you up- and views up there are totally worth it. Just watch your footing when scrambling up- a few loose rocks sometimes. The scenic walk is truly Scenic 😊 And the wildlife.. always there to say hi. Totally worth the trip.. I always come a couple of times each year. If you're South African and resident in Cape Town, I'd advise a wildlife Green Card- it's totally worth it.- see my other post.

It's a very nice 01:30 drive from Cape Town, all the way you can see and visit several Beaches . But once you get there you will have to pay each 20 EUROS to enter the park. Well I think it's a bit expensive when you have already booked a car and all things a tourist pay visiting a country. In the park if you want to see the Light-House you have to pay to go -up again , or walk for free. Beautiful but this 20 euros I think was not necessary ...

Absolutely stunning, nature in all its glory. Two notes though, take your I.D. OR DRIVERS LICENSE to get the S.A. rates and call ahead to see if the tram is running. It is quite a trek up the path to get to the lighthouse. But worth the journey.

Cape of Good Hope ( Cape Point ) If you have been to Cape Town, you cannot miss this place. This site is protected under SAN Parks ( South African National Parks ). This is a National Park named Cape of Good Hope Natures Reserve. There are a lot of herbivore animals & birds around along with a variety of flora as well. This place has a entry fee, accessible to wheel chair, washrooms, Restaurants & accessible to children. But one need to walk a lot. There are several points to visit in this park, mainly Cape Point & Cape of Good Hope.( Brochure Picture Attached ) This place is good for hiker. Take your time, visit every place nicely within the park. It requires atleast 1 day to complete & enjoy the beauty. I have attached some pictures all were taken inside the park.

Must do if you are in Cape Town, we spent a solid 3 hours down there and went on 2 hikes, drove around and looked at some artifacts and old buildings, and saw Ostriches and Goats during our ride. Funicular was really cool, we got almost bombarded by a Baboon but the server had a slingshot ready at the hip. Highly recommend spending some time down here.

The most South Western point of the African continent. It's surreal to actually be here. When you look into the horizon you just see an endless ocean. I visited while tourism was still recovering from covid and surprisingly I was the only person here. The wind was so strong in this location but the scenery is beautiful. A must do if you visit cape town.

This is a must visit place in Cape Town. If you can plan time for a longer hike there are many good options. I would recommend hiring a car and self driving, or hire a driver for the day rather than taking a large tour bus that is on a schedule so you can enjoy the area as you see fit and as the weather accommodates.

We definitely enjoyed the hike. I'd recommend a good pair of sneakers, water, and a hat for the trail as it's in direct sun. There are restrooms at the beginning of the trail. The actual hiking time is less than the 1.5 hour estimate, but took us about that long with pictures, lookouts, etc.

(Translated by Google) Promontory of Southern Africa, South Africa, on the Atlantic Ocean. The Cape of Good Hope is a cape located in the extreme south of the city of Cape Town in the Republic of South Africa. The Cape of Good Hope is at the end of a peninsula and closes part of the Bay of Val. The name was given to it by the navigators who discovered it in 1488 during the expedition of Bartholomeu Dias. For nearly a century the Portuguese have regularly organized maritime expeditions on the west coasts of Africa. They were advancing more and more towards the south, to bypass Africa and discover the passage to the east, that is to say the route to India. Having achieved the object of his mission Dias does not go any further and returns to Portugal. After ten years of preparation, in 1498, the Portuguese expedition of Vasco da Gama, crosses the course towards the east and ends at Calicut in India. It is one of the three notable capes for sailors in the Southern Hemisphere. Contrary to popular belief, the Cape of Good Hope is not the southernmost place in Africa. The southernmost point of the African continent is the Cap des Aiguilles located in the southwest of the country. It is from the Cape of Good Hope that the city of Cape Town, created by the Dutch in 1652, takes its name. Located in a shelter site, it receives only 600 mm of rain, but several meters fall, in winter, on the heights exposed to the west. This ancient island is attached to the mainland by a sand tombolo. This mediocre site owes its importance to its position and to the scarcity of good natural harbors on the South African coast. In the shelter of the cape, the Simonstown naval base was equipped to accommodate the navies of Western countries, for whom it would have been an excellent point of surveillance and protection on the oil route, but, due to apartheid, they did not use it. From a strategic site the cape has become a tourist site, to the assault of which rise, on the leeward slope, sheltered, the resorts (Original) Promontoire de l'Afrique australe, en Afrique du Sud, sur l'océan Atlantique.

We departed early for the Cape of Good Hope, the southern tip of South Africa, via Chapman’s Peak Drive because our guide advised us it can get quite busy during the holidays and that means a long wait to enter the park. We walked trails to a scenic lookout- there’s also a tram ride for those that can’t walk. We did 2 hikes in this park. Gorgeous views if the coast and 2 lighthouses. We saw a baboon in the gift shop area, checking out the trash bin.

The beauty of the majestic Cape Point nature reserve. This is the Cape of Good Hope section. You can go walk on the rocks at the bottom by the water (watch out if the seas are rough which they usually are) or take the 15 min walk to the top which has some slight rocky sections and some sketchy wooden walkways, be careful. Once on top exercise extreme caution especially with kids as there are zero barriers and the drop is a GUARANTEED ticket to the afterlife. The wind can also get to gale force strong levels like it was yesterday and can suddenly push you in a direction you weren't intending on going. Views are however breath taking and pictures do no justice whatsoever There is a trail (you'll see the board on top) that will take you all the way from the Cape of Good Hope to Cape Maclear and Dias Beach and then all the way on to Cape Point where the lighthouse are. Magical, a must do

The natural beauty of the Cape of Good Hope is simply mesmerizing. The rugged coastline, dramatic cliffs, and pristine beaches create a picturesque landscape that is truly awe-inspiring. It is known as the meeting point for the Atlantic and Indian oceans. The cliffs tower is more than 7,874 feet above sea level, and you can see three clearly defined promontories- Cape of Good Hope, Cape Maclear, and Cape Point. There are attractions like angling and diving sites, tidal pools, a shop, a restaurant, Flying Dutchman Funicular, and two lighthouses.

I really enjoyed the trip in our small group of 8. We had a great guide and it was not one of these tours where you just stay in the car and only see the sites while driving past. We did enough stopps (although it could still have been more and had two hours for a hike around Cape of Good Hope, which was great.

Beautiful place and it was definitely cool to see the most south westernly place of the continent. The beach is gorgeous and the park is filled with the aroma of beautiful Fynbos, known to grow in the Cape Town area. There are tons of hiking routes, places for picnics and photo oppertunities. They have a light house but I would recommend hiking shoes and water for that trip. They have few wild animalslike ostriches and the baboons seem to be extremely chill. The park also has a restaurant so it really has everything you need. I loved the no cash facility at the enterance!!

Absolute beautiful place! The sky was clear blue but the wind was extremely strong! A some points when climbing the top of the peak I was blown off my feet! The Díaz beach was breathtaking with white sand and blue/greenish waves. There is a very nice staircase build to go all the way down! Very comfortable!

Loved the experience the water was a bit warmer than the rest. The baboons were very friendly as well. 🤣

It's such a lovely place to relax, enjoy the breeze from the sea, and take a walk up the mountain. It's a great place for everyone.

Amazing place! From a historical point of view it is already great, but the feeling to be there, at the end of the Cape is very cool. Additionally, saw some wild ostriches. The hike up the hill is not really worth the efforts though.

(Translated by Google) If you come to South Africa, you should definitely visit this highlight We were lucky with the weather, had a comfortable ride up the train / cable car. Once at the top, you have a fabulous view !! 👏 There are some monkeys up there, you should be careful, they like to get food out of their pockets! 😀 At the photo point you may have to wait a little before you can take a good photo, as there are a lot of tourists.

This is the most south-west cape of the African continents. It's roughly 50km to south from cape town, and at the edge of Cape Peninsula. There is the cape which Vasco da Gama had arrived in 1497. it's too MUCH far from the most nearby metro station " Simon's Town". I could NOT get by a walk, MUST take a bus or rent a bicycle. If you come here to see this cape, I recommend you that you should see and enjoy any towns(ex.Fish Hoek) on the way to there. Those towns are beautiful and historical. At the top of the cape, it's too fabulous and too exciting. You may enjoy the Breathtaking scenery of the African continent and sea. But it's too MUCH strong winds and Cape's Surf is Rattling rocks. You should be careful to walk around here. Absolutely, you will make great memories when you come here. 【in Sep 2015】
