Beautiful trails. There are multiple, so have a map handy to not get lost. The whole of table mountain is connected by trails, so you can basically go from anywhere to anywhere. The routes generally taken from Deer park are circular going up towards Tafelberg road and return to the parking area. Offering fantastic views of table mountain, lion's head and the Cape Town CBD. The trails are not really too hard. But don't venture alone. There is a parking area if you drive up the dirt road at the entrance but the road is very uneven full of hidden dips so be careful if you have a low car

It's easy to be partial to parks like this where it's close to the city, yet pretty hidden and semmingly far away from civilisation. RIght off the bat, I didn't see any any deer, but the area is a great place to walk and you will likely meet several people who want to have a quick chat as they go about their business. Getting there means that you have to drive on a short bumpy road, but go slow and you won't have an issue. There are several paths you can choose but the recommendation is to take a guide if you're new or stay on marked maths to be safe. There are picnic tables and the areas is well-shaded if you just want to relax and not expend too much energy. Not recommended for wheelchair users.

Confusing to find, as there are like 3 similar parks in the surrounding area. But once found. It really is a great spot. So pretty, tranquil and great for long walks.

One of my favorite places in the world with panoramic views of table mountain and the city and ocean. At least try go here once a week. There are so many beautiful streams and trails to go on. Whether you're a picnicker, mountain biker, trail runner, hiker, or just taking your dog for a walkies there are trails for every fitness level!

The view of Table Mountain from here is amazing as well as the bay area. Has a nice little stream close to the parking. Toilets are available close to the parking area. Many tables and seating found around to sit and share a meal. Getting to the parking area, on the sandy path, can be taxing on your car, given the incline, and loose or dipping areas of sand and stone, but is necessary as there's little parking on the preceding street. Also, lots of people bring their dogs here and they don't bother cleaning up if they "unload" on the trails, so always watch where you're stepping.

So much hidden history. Go find the Drosters Cave, the oldest house ruin on table mountain slopes, Waterfalls, shell middens, Washerwoman pool circles, old farm walls, porcelain shards by the river, the first Reservoir, squirrels, and the odd yellow wood.

A fantastic place to go for a easy stroll or a moderate hike. You will walk through beautiful fynbos, look up at Table Mountain or look down across the city and the harbour. You can wonder along wooden pathways and splash in the fresh mountain stream or sit at one of the picnic tables. Be prepared to enjoy! There is a small parking area or park along the road. Toilet facilities are available.

Beautiful nature reserve, love visiting to walk my dog in the river. Deer Park is a breath of fresh air and an escape from the city without having to go far.

I love this place... I really do, but... as a solo hiker, I feel very uncomfortable walking here alone. There is a clear sign of vagrants living here and rubbish strewn all over. Very sad to see. I can however tell there is a strong community presence fighting to keep it beautiful. Last time I was here there were police on horse back patrolling the parks, which was really comforting to see. This is however a lovely park with awesome picnic spots. Rushing streams of water wi h boardwalks over them, really adds to the magnificent surroundings and views.

"It is a huge park at the foot of Table Mountain that merges seamlessly with the greater Table Mountain National Park , of which it is part. Once in the park there are any number of trails you can follow – easy, circular paths, or more adventurous routes up Devils Peak or to Woodstock Cave."

This is such a gem of a hike. I would say it's medium difficulty, older children can do it with ease, younger ones might need some help on the rocks. The waterfall is so beautiful, careful, it can be slippery. They also need to do a bit of maintenance to get rid of the dead brush and overgrowth. Still a nice hike though with lovely views. Also, the dirt trail is a bit tricky, not for a normal car, rather park on the outside, unless you have a 4x4 type car or don't mind messing up your suspension.

Probably one of my favorite places to go to. Fresh spring running through the forest. Clean and ready to drink. Taking a walk up with the stream is so rewarding. Beautiful place to bring your kids along. On a sunny day you could even go for a swim

Deer Park is closed for development. There are lots of homeless people hanging around the area with the resultant litter. The walking and mountain biking trails is still open and very nice. Also very busy.

The Washerwoman Trail Part 2 An exciting historical walk combined with a touch of Adventure on the oldest route below the slopes Table Mountain. Follow the footsteps and stories of the slave washerwomen, the Drosters’ hideouts, the quarrymen and the spice millers. Discover the haunted ruins, a spot where the Magic Ring was lost, the waterfall and springs that once supplied the City with drinking water and the magical views of Table Bay from the Platteklip.

Great place to walk or run. Has cyclists around too so make sure you are watching for bikes coming through on the same tracks. There are ways to get onto Tafelberg Road but has a significant amount of elevation to get there. There is parking past the boom and some picnic area if you would like to have something to eat there.

Very beautiful and lots of trees at the start and then you are in the open. With the current heatwave it was very difficult. Beautiful views!

It's like wandering off into a fairy forest, in the city. A great escape with tall trees and gorgeous views the higher up the mountain you choose to venture.

Great views, for a walk and to explore. A great pitty about the litter, although I have seen worse at other public parks.

I wonderful park for kids and furbabys in nature...there are numerous paths for walking and ample shade... There is a small stream that runs through the walk for cooling off... The place is run by San parks and there are even tables for picnics or just chill under the trees... You suppose to have a permit but it's public no gates etc... Parking is a short drive up a dirt road...

Its so beautiful here! Outstanding view of the Table Mountain Cable Way. Surrounded by trees, shrubbery and a stream for kids to play in, you'll forget you're in the city. Its quiet and calming but also a little vibey with constant runners, hikers, people walking their dogs and families out for some sunny quality time. Would have loved to give this place five glowing stars, BUT... 1. The front boom gate (which is usually open for cars) was locked so parking in the street was a nightmare. 2. The walk to the picnic site was a bit much for the kids and adults who were carrying picnic gear/cooler boxes 3. The restrooms were locked which forced everybody to either hold it or "be one with nature" lol this was interesting. To be fair, this is not usually the case and is probably due to the Covid-19 Restrictions. Overall, still an excellent, beautiful day ♡

Beautiful place. Walked up to table mountain road recently after work. Came across someone hiding in the high grass next to the trail. Only a few of us saw him. Be aware. Nothing happened due us being in a very big group.

It is the perfect picnic spot in nature. The road is horrible with huge holes in it but they shouldn't fix it otherwise it will be overcrowded and damaged and dirtied by people. At the moment with only a few people being able to come in or even knowing about it, the place is idyllic and clean and special. A truly hidden paradise.

A lovely park to visit especially when my grandchildren visit. It’s clean and also safe to allow dogs to be unleashed and play. My experience with other visitors was that they obeyed rules about cleanliness and with lovely trees and amazing views of Table Mountain and Panoramas across the city through to the Blaauberg hills it induces a sense of calm.

The trees in Deer Park are the greatest appeal for me. They are incredibly tall and beautiful. There's a stream that flows through the park, picnic area with concrete tables & benches and an incline towards the mountain so it makes for a good walk. I've never seen many people at the picnic side, people are usually walking and not congregating anywhere.

Lovely outing with safe wide paths and the most amazing views, we climbed up to Tafelberg road so make sure you are fit. I would suggest that with smaller children you stick to the bottom slopes. Parking is a bit confusing so make sure you arrive with enough time to work out where to park. Dogs are allowed.

Stunning spot close to town for a mountain escape: tall trees, trails, flowing streams and beautiful boardwalks make this a perfect spot for everyone and anyone. Deerpark is one of my favorite spots for a stroll in Cape Town.

Love Deer park. Often go walking here with my boyfriend at the end of a hard day. The place is clean and trails are well kept. Great escape from the big city , right next to the big city. Feels like I am far away.

Lovely place, multiple trails going all over. Only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is there are many reckless cyclists here that come speeding around corners. I saw one cyclist actually hit a person's dog, by accident of course, but nevertheless.
