I saw this hotel during an earlier visit to Capetown and wanted to stay in it on my next visit. I am so dissatisfied with both the decor and the service, that I wanted to write a detailed review. First, the service. The hotel staff wear cool T shirts and not the usual uniforms. However, it is not the casual look that makes friendly service. Good service starts with humanity and empathy, which the staff at this hotel simply lack. I was very sick on the day of my check out. I asked for a paid late check out, and I was refused. I asked to pay a full night for just an extra hour, and I was again refused. A hotel should have some understanding that middle aged people can and do get sick and might need an extra hour. But no, in this hotel the T shirts are casual, but the approach to service is as rigid as it can be. The design of the hotel looks good only on pictures. Once inside, you realize the “design” is actually a cheap building methodology that restricts inner decoration to bare concrete. Add loud music to bare concrete walls and you get massive noise. This is what the hotel check in and restaurant offers: Massive noise. Talking about the check in: The computer systems seem so slow that they cannot check in anyone under 10 minutes. As a result, there were travelers waiting up to 30 minutes to start their check ins. On the day of my check out, at 9 AM, there was a line of 7 groups for check out! Once you check in, you realize that the rooms are tiny. I mean minuscule. And I used to live in New York. So, when I mean tiny, it is really Guinness Book of Records tiny. For example, I could not open the bathroom door without hitting the toilet seat. Luckily, they had a door stopper right in front of of the toilet seat. Unluckily, I broke a toe on the stopper, when I had to use the toilet at night. Great design, ha? The roof top bar is really the highlight of this hotel. They have a 2x7m container full of dirty water. This makes it a roof top with a “swimming pool”. The cheap patio furniture on the roof top was dirty when I went there. I do have to admit that the food was very good. In short, one has to be out of their mind to pay this kind of money to a cheaply decorated hotel with tiny rooms and unfriendly staff in causal T shirts. Please find another way of torturing yourself.

Awesome location, fun and vibrant staff I like the red theme throughout the venue. Perfect for this coming to Cape Town and enjoy the waterfront and it's safety / shopping and restaurants. They have a rooftop pool and bar which is a massive win with younger crowd, parties and sundowner. They have great coffee and all milk options to go with it. Which is a big thing for me, and tea options for everyone. They have a tailored black and red options with authentic nespresso (nice touch) They have wondeful views and located at the v&a waterfront (silo location) which makes everything in walking distance Big thanks to Dale T at the Radisson RED and the rest of the staff.

I had such a great time at Radisson Red. I was at the center of all the fun and holiday activity. Nothing beats being just a stone thrown from The V&A Waterfront. My friends all regretted their hotel choices and wished they had booked the same hotel as me. The folks at the counter were super helpful and service was quick. They also helped with covid testing advice. Without their assistance I would have missed the testing deadline. Breakfast at Radisson Red was quite good. The rooftop bar was also exquisite. The food, the drinks, the pool and best of all the VIEWS. The vibe was lit. For sure RED will be top on my list on my next visit to Capetown. Special shout out to Courtney, she was extremely helpful and patient with us. Her respond time was commendable. And thanks to management for the free wine, nuts and goodies. TIP: Try to get a room with mountain views

Excellent location, with a quaint continental breakfast package included. It was quite new looking when I visited, and the rooftop patio was an attraction that seemed to draw in the locals (twenty something's and younger) Exactly what you're looking for from a hotel stay, walking distance to the V&A waterfront and all that that entails. So a little something extra if you're in town for business.

If you’re looking for a beautiful, well designed hotel with a hip vibe and great mountains view, this is the place for you. The hotel places much attention to the aesthetic and even employs younger staff to keep the vibe young and funky. Their food is honestly 10/10 which is not common in many hotels The bad about this hotel (as you can tell from previous negative reviews) is the service. Some of the staff members are quite snubbish and act like they’re just there to complete their shift and leave. I have a few instances of poor service but I’ll just mention two; 1. I approached the reception to inquire for some info and there were about 5 staff members there who were chatting among each other and laughing. They ignored me for a good 20 seconds as I stood there while they chatted away (I could tell they knew I was standing there) until another member of staff that wasn’t part of their conversation came to assist. That left a very bad taste in my mouth as most hotels try to treat their guests with as much courtesy and attention as possible 2. The second instance is when I ordered room service and I preferred to go collect it myself from the restaurant. I ordered a meal and a drink but realized I couldn’t carry the food + drink and be able to press buttons on the elevator or open my room door cause my hands were full. I requested one of the staff to help me carry my food to the room and her facial expressions showed that she would rather be doing anything else than assisting me. She accepted but when we got to the elevator, she asked me if she can hand me back my drink and go back to her station (we hadn’t even started going up to the rooms). How was i going to open my room door with both hands full? She obliged and took me to my room but rather reluctantly. - There were some great servers in the hotel who really gave the service you expect (and even better) but these seemed to be the minority of them. I noticed the younger servers could be a little snubbish and unbothered, sometimes you wonder if they are properly trained.

The picture attached is the Surf & Turf board. Its rather filling and prepared really well. The boards go for R320. The drinks are very expensive, I paid around R35 for a small can of appeltiser. The place is worth it for the food and views on the roof top. I wouldn't sit to close to the speakers as it might be too loud and you may end up having to shout to have a conversation. Service was great, no complaints at all.

I recently stayed at the Radisson RED V&A Waterfront in Cape Town with my partner during a two-week visit to South Africa. We chose Radisson RED for our 4-day visit to Cape Town due to its fantastic location. The hotel is located in the heart of the V&A Waterfront, which is a vibrant and exciting area of Cape Town with plenty to see and do. The hotel itself is stylish and modern, with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It was my first visit to a Radisson Red hotel, and overall, I really enjoyed the concept. The rooms were really stylish and functional, and the beds were absolutely dreamy – I slept incredibly well during my stay. We had a wonderful view overlooking Table Mountain, which was always lovely to see first thing in the morning. The staff we came into contact with were always friendly and happy to help. We were even offered a complimentary local Gin & Tonic on arrival which was a really lovely touch. There was a rooftop bar which we did go and have a look at, but with so much choice in V&A Waterfront, we chose to go elsewhere. The view was great, and although the pool was small, it would be a perfect way to cool down on a hot day. Breakfast was another highlight of the Radisson RED V&A Waterfront. There was so much choice, and the a la carte was fantastic. I would highly recommend their Mexican Breakfast – it was fabulous. There was also filtered water available all day in the bar, and in the afternoon they had a complimentary popcorn machine which was great! Overall, we had a great stay at the Radisson RED V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. It's a great hotel with a lot to offer. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town!

Nice hotel with a kinda funky vibe in the room design (see photos). Great location as it’s just a small walking distance to the Waterfront and great, helpful staffs. Downsides: 1. Rooms facing the office block next door (which I had on both stays) offers slightly less privacy and zero view. 2. The food menu is limited, so it’s better to go to the Waterfront where there are a lot of restaurants.

Awful experience today at the Raddison red for Christmas lunch. It started at the front desk where the man helping me without asking called my husband “my father”. I have worked in hospitality overseas for the royal family so I understand what manners and the appropriate way in which to talk to guests is. It was so embarrassing, really. Please educate your staff on how to communicate with your guests effectively to avoid future problems. Our lunch was below satisfactory and for R850 a person there were a few sides to choose from, the meat was dry too. 3 desserts of which probably cost R200 to make for all of them.. That was barely a buffet. Really disappointing day and I would never recommend this place to anyone I know.

I loved the location and views of the hotel. I would however prefer a more calm and relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast is quite busy. Intrigued by the structure - no window in room that could open, therefore no natural air and one is dependent on the aircon. Lovely hotel nonetheless...

I was quite disappointed with everything about my stay at the Radisson. There's just a total lack of attention to detail in every aspect of this hotel. From the moment we walked in the door, I was disappointed by the experience. The front desk appeared to be having an issue checking in a party of five in front of us, so we got to sit in the lobby and wait for 20 minutes while they sorted out their own mess. The rooms have a dinner table in them for some unknown reason. These tables take up about 1/3 of the room, and the legs stick out past the edge of the table. I subbed my toe about 10 times before I just shoved the ridiculous thing into a corner. The bathrooms are poorly layed out, cramped, and have little metal and rubber door stops in the middle of the floor for you to trip over. The showers have no shelf for your toiletries. Breakfast was an irritation. You'll basically receive a slightly improved continental breakfast. A few pastries, toast, and yogurt, and some very unappealing cold cuts. You get to order one hot breakfast each, but that'll take about an hour to come out. You have to make your own coffee, and there are two machines with other guests waiting in line to do the same. I really enjoy paying this much money for a hotel to have to stand around waiting for a cup of coffee in the morning. The entire restaurant area is loud, and has music playing just loud enough to discourage conversation. There are much nicer hotels options at the waterfront, and I highly recommend you choose one of those.

The best experience ever. Happy to be part of the Pride windows unveiling. Upon arrival the best front of house service. The event was well organized and food was made with everyone's expectations. Being lactose intolerant there was food for me. Will definitely revist the hotel again

Nice and centrally located within walking distance to the V&A Waterfront. The room was great and even had a practical seating area where you could work. Breakfast was included and was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had!

One of the best stays that we have experienced. Friendly staff. Excellent vibe. The staff go out of the way to host you to the best of their ability. Radisson Red at the waterfront is definitely going be our hotel of choice for us! From the reception staff, to the bar men, to the room service staff absolutely excellent! Thanks to Lebogo as well that managed to go beyond and above for us at our check out!

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at! Well designed in the perfect location! It's walking distance to the V&A waterfront but in a quiet corner that's not overcrowded. Many excellent restaurants are all around. You can walk to everything you need! If you rent a car there is a garage beneath the hotel. There is a bus stop across the street for the city sightseeing bus. The staff is welcoming and helpful. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay great! My only complaint is that the beds are a bit hard, but some people like that. 🤷‍♀️ We would highly recommend it!

I didn't end up as a guest at this hotel, by a chain of accidents, but reading the reviews, maybe for the best. We booked a room through intermediaries and only found out when we got to the hotel that we had been booked at another hotel. Yes, we did not give any money to this hotel, but the lack of humanity of the staff was very unpleasant. We had an overnight flight and we arrived in no condition with three suitcases as we thought at the time to our hotel, I really wanted to use the bathroom, I was hoping to run to the bathroom while my husband was checking in. But they ended up coming up to me and saying: why are you standing there, where's your car.... It was very rude! I felt so bad at that moment and I also got such a rude attitude. I understand - this is South Africa, there are so many contrasts in society here, but after Cyprus, when you just walk into any room with a pale face and they bring you a glass of water without a word, this attitude is shocking!

Nice welcome from the staff along with a bottle of beer and a bottle of wine waiting for us in the room. Location was so convenient to all the attractions. Bedrooms clean, modern and so quiet. Black out blinds were brilliant. Nice gym and pool area. Breakfast was so tasty.

Me and my husband, just recently stayed here about a week ago. Check-in was very easy and fast. The entire staff made us feel welcome. I have to shout out the bartender Dennis who provided some of the best customer service in my opinion.

Myself and my service dog, Gypsy are always welcomed so warmly by the staff. Some remember Gypsy by name and without fail... If the hotel isn't busy, they upgrade my booking at no extra charge. The decor is so funky, and the rooftop bar a delight.

Beautiful hotel, location is perfect. Food is good. Staff are kind and helpful. The only negative thing is that you can have to wait a long time for the elevator and that stairs are hard to find : it seems that they only have emergency stairs that people use as an alternative when the wait for elevator is too long). Music at the main level restaurant could also be a little bit less loud. But I would still highly recommend this place!

Great hotel, at a good reasonable price for what you get. Very friendly and relaxed staff. Very good breakfast buffet which also includes a cooked breakfast if you wish. Everything is very tidy and well organised. The rooftop is also nice for drinks after a long hot day. Enjoy.

The rooftop bar is a firm favorite of ours! More often than not, there is a performing artist or DJ playing, and it's a fantastic spot to enjoy stunning views and sunsets! Fantastic cocktail options are available, and they serve really good tapas! I highly recommend their burger sliders!

Really nice hotel for a business trip and also for tourism. Great views from the rooftop and breakfast is really complete and tasty. The rooms are big and comfortable, really silent since no big road is around. And near many restaurants. If I have to say something not so positive would be that there is no direct connexion with the parking. It is just a 15m walk but if it rains… it feels much more. But 100% would recommend!

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a great location at the V&A waterfront, so right next to loads of sights, restaurants and bars, hop on hop off sightseeing bus is across the road. Breakfast was amazing, food overall was great. Room was spotless and functional if perhaps a tad small compared to other hotels and lodges we stayed at during our trip, but overall we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

We were seated in the restaurant which was quite empty. The server was pleasant and took our orders- salad and a wrap. There were at least 6 servers in sight for about 30 min. as we waited and waited. Finally asked if our food was coming. Told orders in before ours. Really? whose? Terrible kitchen service and table too. Avoid this eatery

We had a quick check in and while we checked in early - we were exhausted from our 30 hours of flying and the receptionist did her best to get the room cleaned first for us. The room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was great both the buffet and the hot breakfast items. We ordered room service one night and they messed up the order but the next day they apologised sincerely and took the meal off our room which was great. Perfect location for sightseeing - about a 5 minute walk to the hop on hop off bus stop which worked very well for us and all our plans. Overall lovely stay. Would definitely recommend!

Very nice creative space, they concentrated on the finest detail. Love the interior. Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast amazing. Fantastic place right next to the waterfront with amazing roof top area as well. Definitely the place to be when visiting cape town! We would like to thank Gabby for her amazing service when we wanted to stay for a further 2 days, as she made a plan and helped us immediately!

Trendy hotel with the most friendly and helpful staff. The rooftop bar overlooks a small portion of the V&A and table mountain. Room service menu leaves little to be desired. Location is so ideal - close to all sorts of restaurants, museums and dispensaries. Room size is comfortable and the electric roller block out blinds was my favorite part of the room

  • 5/5 Mmemme M. 2 years ago on Google
I loved the view from my room.. The rooftop has an amazing vibe on a Friday and Saturday. The rooftop view also incorporates the Silo Hotel glass view... Everything is absolutely gorgeous from up there. The table mountain is on your face from the Radisson Red rooftop.

  • 4/5 Ben T. 2 years ago on Google
Really fun hotel, from the cocktail on arrival to the evening at the rooftop bar. Rooms are a good size and had a beautiful view of table mountain. My only criticism would be that trying to get a bed by the pool is very difficult due to it being so small.

Our Team did our Strat day at the Radisson Red on 3 Feb 22 in one of the conference tools and had lunch at the roof top restaurant. Excellent food and stunning views of Cape Town & Harbour. Service at Conference venue was brilliant....Special mention to young Mathew for his help. Highly recommended 👌

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The staff are all young and incredibly helpful, cheerful and enthusiastic. I've been travelling almost constantly for >6 years and have stayed in hundreds of hotels in that time, and the staff here were the best. Every single member of staff - reception, restaurant, girls cleaning the rooms - greeted me with great enthusiasm. Breakfast was good. Nice buffet plus cooked items. WiFi worked throughout. The view of Table Mountain was amazing! I'd happily stay here again if ever I return to Cape Town.

This is a nice hotel, rooms and common areas are styled with a fun and playful aesthetic. We stayed here for 3 days, and actually picked this hotel above others (and payed more) because of the amazing pool area upstairs. We were quite disappointed that we were not able to spend any time around the pool during our stay despite heading up there several times - it was completely full the whole time, not a single spare chair or bed. It seemed that lots of people from outside the hotel (non-guest) were walking into the hotel and getting the elevator up to the roof to use the pool, and nobody checking. Not sure if they have a guests only policy or not, but I don't think it's fair on paying guests that they can't use one of the main selling points of the hotel. If we had known then we would have stayed somewhere else for half the price.

Conveniently placed in V&A district, Cape Town. Well decorated, clean, vibrant hotel for a younger crowd. Adults are welcome but the energy is very much for the young at heart. Love the welcome gin and tonic drink, love the room service. Hot breakfast limited menu (no omelette) but cold buffet ample. Value for money is market related.

Had a very good stay here. Everyone very friendly and the breakfast was great. The location is perfect right on the V&A waterfront. The room was good and comfortable although flushing the toilet was a bit problematic! Would definitely stay here again.

Had a great 5 days at this hotel, we had a family room with the bunk beds. Great location to explore the V&A waterfront area, only issue I had was a dodgy burger at the roof top bar, which put me down for a day.

Windows to open? Power Plug in the bathroom? All Negative. Big mirror? Look in the closet, where the safe is! Even room number? Noise from the wharf. Odd number: "Nice" view of neighbor house... Pool: not very inviting. Small and no clear water Nice breakfast.

Overall it’s a great hotel and the service is great. I gave it 4 instead of 5 only because it was pricey when compared to other hotels. The breakfast was also good.

Loved every moment!! Studios are modern and clean with a great view, staff is friendly, full of energy and extremely attentive and helpful, food is great, and location is perfect. Parking is a bit expensive (it is the Waterfront). There are Nespresso coffee machines and a variety of teas in the room, but only small take-away cups. I would've preferred a proper mug / cup.

The Radisson RED V&A Waterfront hotel is the best place I have ever been so far while in Capetown we were on a school trip by Northlink College and I have to say this was the best experience. I wish I could do my practicals there. It's a friendly environment I really love that place. Ooh and the top roof opening the best chilling spot.

  • 5/5 Lindie K. 1 year ago on Google
Classy, upmarket, hip and modern. The finishes are beautiful! The service is great. Parking is really not an issue (as per other reviews) - it's literally next door and really affordable. Service is top-class!!! Located in the Waterfront - only 5 minutes walk from restaurants and entertainment.

Mediocre service, expensive room, staff is incompetent, 45 minutes check in, 20 minutes check, here I am 1 month later still waiting for them to send the invoice. Also noticed they charge 400 dollars on top of the normal rate and I'm still waiting for the refund. Email exchange with the people in charge or totally useless, I have never that poor service. Very sad, can't imagine this is a Radisson brand, they dont give a s**t of their guests. Breakfast and dinner was good tho

We had our year end function here. Great service, friendly staff, lovely food and absolutely amazing atmosphere. Breathtaking views. We were dancing and singing the night away. Magnificent time was had by all... Definitely recommended...
