Never @ home was an incredible stay! They cleaned our rooms daily, we’re incredibly friendly and hospitable, and even offered towels! The mattresses were comfy, there was a lot of room, and their staff are extremely accommodating and friendly!

This might be one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. I stayed in a private room, and it was very clean, spacious, private bathroom, and TV with Netflix. The wifi also still works when load shedding happens. The staff is all incredibly friendly and helpful! There's daily tours you can sign up for as well. The location is great. It's right next to a grocery store and lots of restaurants. It also has a restaurant/bar which is very convenient. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Capetown and highly recommend it!!

Very central place to stay at. The rooms are affordable and it is a great way to get to know other people. I will say though, to brace yourselves for Joburg boys who stay here. They can be quite creepy after a few drinks. Had one follow my friends and I to a club and would not take no for an answer. Other than that, great service from the place itself. It's always clean too

No cupboards. No freezer. Communal fridge is tiny for the amount of people. No allocated space and it’s first come first serve. Even if by some miracle you do get a space, others just move it or take it out. Not everyone can afford to eat out 3 times a day. However, staff friendly and helpful and it is clean.

I stayed for almost 3 weeks at Never@home, and it was truly a home away from home. The staff is so kind and attentive, and remember guests by name. Anything I needed, they were so helpful. Shout-out to Mitch and the breakfast lady (her birthday is today) for making my stay memorable! Very secure location and building. Enjoyed the hostel group activities and amenities! 10/10. I have stayed at many many hostels around the world, and this is truly one of the best. Thanks a million!

DIDN'T STAY THERE - but Phil has been amazing at helping me book different tours around Cape Town. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THE TOWNSHIP TOUR ENOUGH! Chippa, our guide (a local to the township, Langa) made this trip the best experience I've had in Cape Town (have been here for six months and seen many things). GO!

I had a fantastic stay at never @ home. Even before arriving, I was able to book several activities to do in cape town with Phil (who btw is absolutely amazing and the sweetest), and Phil was extremely responsive. When I arrived at the hostel, I was checked in quickly, shown the room, and was given Phil's contact for any questions/concerns I had especially regarding activities and he could be quickly reached on Whatsapp which was incredibly helpful. The actual hostel itself is very clean, comfortable, and super social. It is located in green point which felt very safe, central (without being in downtown Cape Town which can get a little sketch) and close to waterfront which is stunning. I met wonderful people from all over the world - the rooftop pool bar and restaurant really helps with making friends! I also ended up being quite friendly with the staff at the restaurant and front desk (they are awesome 👍). The tours the hostel arranged were amazing, I did a wine tour, hike to Table Mountain with the hostel, seal snorkeling, and a township tour. Getting to organize this through the hostel made it incredibly easy to organize my trip in Cape Town. I miss never @ home, and will certainly be going back if I ever get the chance to visit Cape Town again! Would highly highly recommend.

I stayed at this hostel during August 2023, and its prime location emerged as the standout feature. The hostel is in a safe neighborhood, just a brief 15-minute walk from the renowned Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. The common spaces are notably spacious, offering a comfortable setting with a well-equipped kitchen, an in-house restaurant, a lively pub and a swimming pool. The hostel takes the experience a step further by organizing a variety of tours, both free and paid, including captivating hikes to Lion's Head and scenic cycling trips to the Sea Point Promenade. Keep in mind that during load shedding hours, the rooms experience electricity cuts; however, the common areas remain powered. Additionally, during peak seasons, the hostel tends to get quite crowded and there might be some noise from the traffic since it's right next to the main road. Despite these minor considerations, Phil, a staff member, stood out for his exceptional service. Not only did he efficiently organize a thrilling skydiving experience, but he also played a pivotal role in helping me secure a rental scooter. Also, the cleaning staffs helped find my ring when I lost it and gave it back to me even after I had shifted to some other place.

Best hostel in the area. I stayed at 3 others. This one is clean, has people, lots of people actually, and a good kitchen… no views whatsoever, very urban and internal, I don’t think there is a single tree. But it’s the best around.

I arrived in the night very tired and no one explained the check out rules of the hostel, was definitely bad treatment and then, in the morning, they woke me up saying to pay because they need to know if they will sell the bad for other person or not. The hostel was empty, now it’s not even high season and in the room was 2 empty beds already. Totally rude why should I stayed in place to be treated like this? I asked for more 30 minutes to wake up and decided better and they said you need to decide now. Of course I said I am leaving. No one showed me the differences of the rooms I randomly pick shared room with 6 persons and the bathroom door was impossible to close without wake up everyone in the room because can’t even close/open without forcing to much. The staff treated me with indifference it’s almost like I was begging to stay there. Again, I was thinking to spend more days but after this, Never at this hostel again.

The staff are brilliant, it’s a great place to work from as the Wi-Fi is stable and never goes down. Always people to chat to at the bar/pool. Im not the biggest fan of the location - it’s on a bit of a busy road and it feels a little bit dead. That being said, it’s not far to get to some nicer, more interesting areas. The rooms are what you’d expect from a backpackers hostel - cheap, cheerful and functional

I did a quick trip to Cape Town and in between stayed at frinds i stayed at never@home hostel in Greenpoint. The location couldn't be have better suited for me - close to town, V&A waterfront and Sea Point. Most amenities and shops are nearby and had I needed public transport My City Bus goes right past. Parking for my car was very secure. The general buzz was of young tourists traveling through but as an oldie i didn't feel out of place. Reception staff were always friendly and helpful despite being very busy. At all times I felt safe and secure. All rooms and common areas have a fresh feel and are always clean even though there are a large number of guests. The bar area was busy and a bit cramped and prices on the high side but not over the top. Service was good.

Great hostel with warmest hospitality. We booked a private room for 10 nights. Amazingly clean including the bedsheets & towels. Good vibes and nice people around. I can’t be more grateful for one staff who knew my bf is sick & checked on him while I was gone. I also feel bad abt how he got diarrhoea and they were still able to clean the toilet well 🥹 Thank you for the experience. I will come back again. Please leave more tips to the cleaner if you’re staying cuz they’re doing a great job 👏🏻💕 Cheers 🥂

We were booked in as the Finalists of Miss Drag South Africa 2024, we had a workshop there and a photoshoot and I have to say, never@home will always be one kf MG favorite spots in Greenpoint. The receptionists are sk Welcoming and helpful throughout the night.

Thank you for all of that beautiful memories 🌴

The hostel facilities were brilliant. The bar is always busy with guests and general public. The beds were comfy and there was always hot water. I did find there was several roaches/bugs in our bathroom every night which was a bit gross but I assumed this was more because the window was open. Staff were friendly and helpful. Most guests seemed to already be in their groups and it was hard to socialise because of this, BUT there is a whatsapp group where guests but what they’re up to and staff put the events in there (I only discovered the whatsapp group a couple of days before leaving). We had a Christmas day braai which was delicious and the day itself was amazing - everybody joyful and in good spirits. The kitchen was gross - guests are asked to clean up after themselves didn’t. A guest was told he would be kicked out the following morning due to being inappropriate with women and physical with staff but the next day he was still there which makes me question safety. I booked 2 beds in a 4 bed dorm but unfortunately we were put in 2 separate rooms - this was my first hostel experience so was extremely anxious about this and wanted to be together - the staff were helpful and allowed us to move into a 6 bed dorm so we would be together, however weren’t reimbursed for the money difference but I suppose that was more my issue than theirs.

Nice hostel if you want to be close to the waterfront. Overall rather a party hostel, so be aware of that. It's clean and well organised. Rooms are good, beds are mediocre, but fitted with metal boxes that can be locked with padlocks. Staff are OK.

Never at Home is always a win. I have absolutely enjoyed my stays over the last two months and can't wait for more, next summer. Their kitchen and bar is well stocked and priced. The reception team are absolutely amazing. To many names to mention but they know who they are. The dipping pool is great for hot days. The place has a young atmosphere, beer pong, pool tables and a host of yatch trainees in residence. The best room is No 207 a mixed shared dorm, with ample space, Aircon, great beds, lockers and a view of the green point area. I'll be back soon. Much love, Cee (@ceecestravel).
