On
arrival
at
the
hotel,
the
2
ladies
on
reception
were
not
very
welcoming
at
all.
(This
was
the
second
AHA
hotel
we
stayed
at
on
this
trip
and
the
other
in
Simon's
Town
couldn't
have
been
more
different,
with
charming
friendly
staff
there
on
reception.)
Here,
they
didn't
look
up
to
smile
or
even
acknowledge
us
initially
and
eventually
they
just
took
our
paperwork
and
stared
at
the
screen
frowning,
we
started
to
think
there
was
an
issue
with
our
booking.
Eventually
they
did
communicate
with
us
to
say
the
room
wasn't
ready
yet
-
we
were
20
minutes
early
for
a
2pm
check
in.
At
2
the
room
was
supposed
to
be
ready
but
due
to
some
minor
work
on
the
steps
by
our
room,
they
expected
us
each
time
to
go
up
an
elevator,
walk
over
a
skybridge,
call
another
elevator,
and
go
down
on
that
in
order
to
get
to
the
room!
It
was
like
this
for
the
3
days
of
our
stay
and
drove
us
nuts
waiting
for
different
elevators
all
the
time
-
a
3rd
one
was
required
to
get
to
the
car
park!
On
getting
into
the
room
the
cleaner
was
in
fact
still
in
there
but
she
was
done
in
a
couple
of
minutes
so
no
big
deal.
Walking
in
wwe
noticed
that
the
curtain
was
hanging
down
on
one
side
and
when
I
mentioned
it,
the
reception
lady
who
had
taken
us
to
the
room,
just
laughed!
The
room
was
on
the
ground
floor
with
no
security
measures
to
stop
someone
getting
over
the
small
railing.
I
asked
if
we
could
have
a
room
on
a
higher
floor
and
was
simply
told
no,
as
they
had
no
other
rooms.
I
didn't
really
believe
this
at
all.
The
room
itself
was
a
good
size
but
quite
dark
during
the
day
and
not
helped
at
night
by
the
fact
that
one
of
the
4
bulbs
wasn't
working.
The
"balcony"/patio
area
was
horrible,
on
some
uneven
stones
and
tiny.
There
is
a
small
pool
on
the
4th
floor
but
the
water
looked
filthy
so
we
didn't
risk
using
it.
We
did
use
the
loungers
up
there
and
although
there
was
only
5,
we
were
the
only
ones
there
so
it
was
fine.
Breakfast
was
okay
but
again
staff
were
never
helpful
or
smiled.
One
exception
to
the
staff
was
a
lovely
gentleman
that
was
on
the
front
desk
a
couple
of
times
during
our
stay.
He
couldn't
be
more
friendly
or
helpful,
offering
suggestions
and
smiling!
A
refreshing
change.
He
also
checked
us
out
and
when
we
mentioned
the
curtain
issue
he
immediately
got
on
the
phone
to
maintenance
to
deal
with
it.
Whilst
it
is
possible
to
walk
to
the
V
&
A
waterfront
in
20/25
minutes,
there
is
a
gate
en
route
which
gets
locked
at
8pm
so
it
is
only
possible
during
the
day.
It's
a
long
way
around
by
car
or
taxi.
We
did
use
it
during
the
day
and
it
was
a
pleasant
walk.
Overall
we
wouldn't
stay
here
again
or
recommend.
