I
recently
visited
Bella's
at
Camp
Bay
Retreat,
renowned
for
its
idyllic
setting
amidst
a
nature
reserve.
Unfortunately,
my
experience
was
underwhelming
compared
to
the
stunning
location
and
would
therefore,
partial
recommend
with
caution:
Upon
arrival,
the
absence
of
a
receptionist
was
noticeable,
but
we
were
promptly
seated
in
the
restaurant
and
received
a
friendly
greeting.
A
small
oversight
was
not
being
offered
water
while
perusing
the
menu,
a
detail
that
didn't
escape
notice.
The
starters,
Patagonian
squid
and
Honey
baked
camembert
cheese
wheel
with
rosemary
and
roasted
garlic,
were
satisfactory.
However,
the
accompanying
chips
with
the
squid
lacked
appeal.
Our
main
courses,
the
Chalmar
beef
sirloin
and
Tender
fillet
steak,
were
aesthetically
pleasing
but
lacked
in
flavor,
falling
short
of
remarkable.
The
accompanying
skinny
fries
were
disappointing,
leading
to
most
of
them
being
returned
uneaten.
Reflecting
on
past
visits,
this
experience
paled
in
comparison.
Previous
occasions
like
Saturday
braai
days,
Valentine's
Day
picnics,
and
anniversary
dinners
showcased
exceptional
food
and
service,
in
harmony
with
the
beautiful
surroundings.
While
our
waiter
was
attentive
and
amiable,
observing
other
diners'
experiences
revealed
inconsistencies
in
service.
Some
guests
had
to
seek
assistance
for
placing
orders,
and
others
inquired
about
delayed
meals.
Regrettably,
considering
the
price,
the
food
doesn't
justify
the
cost.
My
advice
would
be
to
visit
for
sundowners
and
soak
in
the
beauty
of
Camps
Bay
Retreat,
but
temper
expectations
regarding
the
culinary
experience.
