This was a beautiful mansion right next to the beach! The reason I gave it 4-star instead of a five nonetheless is the absence of a powerful enough heater in the room, and the fancy-looking heater didn’t do much against the cold winter night. Everything else was perfect and the ragu was absolutely delicious:

Nestled away in Camps Bay is this beautiful retreat. Booked a lunch slot. Very serene surroundings. Food was top tier. Staff are nice. Some “hiking like” trails are available with a suspended bridge (cool feature). Overall good experience.

We went for breakfast this morning for a friend’s birthday. We sat at the big table outside. Service was really slow and nobody came to check if everything was still in order. We ordered a large bottle of water and the waiter only gave us 1 glass. We also only got 1 serviette for 4 guests with no one coming back. I ordered the 3 egg omelet at R120. It is served on a side plate and the portion is really small. Presentation also to what one would expect this type of hotel. We ordered more coffees and went down to the chairs under the trees. We were asked to leave at 11:17 because the pod was booked at 12:00. No suggestion of moving us to a different seating area. After so many happy memories at Camps Bay Retreat, I don’t ever want to go back.

I recently visited Bella's at Camp Bay Retreat, renowned for its idyllic setting amidst a nature reserve. Unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming compared to the stunning location and would therefore, partial recommend with caution: Upon arrival, the absence of a receptionist was noticeable, but we were promptly seated in the restaurant and received a friendly greeting. A small oversight was not being offered water while perusing the menu, a detail that didn't escape notice. The starters, Patagonian squid and Honey baked camembert cheese wheel with rosemary and roasted garlic, were satisfactory. However, the accompanying chips with the squid lacked appeal. Our main courses, the Chalmar beef sirloin and Tender fillet steak, were aesthetically pleasing but lacked in flavor, falling short of remarkable. The accompanying skinny fries were disappointing, leading to most of them being returned uneaten. Reflecting on past visits, this experience paled in comparison. Previous occasions like Saturday braai days, Valentine's Day picnics, and anniversary dinners showcased exceptional food and service, in harmony with the beautiful surroundings. While our waiter was attentive and amiable, observing other diners' experiences revealed inconsistencies in service. Some guests had to seek assistance for placing orders, and others inquired about delayed meals. Regrettably, considering the price, the food doesn't justify the cost. My advice would be to visit for sundowners and soak in the beauty of Camps Bay Retreat, but temper expectations regarding the culinary experience.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this resort, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the breathtaking view that this resort had to offer. Nestled in the midst of nature's beauty, the scenic vistas were simply mesmerizing. It truly felt like a paradise on Earth. The staff at this resort were not only friendly but also incredibly accommodating. What stood out the most was the exceptional service provided by the manager. She was always available and eager to ensure that our stay was nothing short of perfect. The on-site spa was a sanctuary of relaxation and rejuvenation.

This place is stunning with amazing views of the sea. However, it is terribly miss managed. Where do we start? There is little to no service, I had to order at the bar and also pay there too. No one bothered to take care of us. Even tho the place was empty. Most of the wait staff just stand around trying to look busy but really just checking their phones. The pool was not cleaned with loads of debris floating on top. I had to ask the spa for towels as non where layer out. They made me feel like it was a hassle. Again, 3 staff doing very little at the time. While chilling by the pool for 2 hours, no one asked if we wanted a drink or offered us a menu (this is a 5 start hotel right?) I would have happily ran up a tab if they did. Instead I drank warm water that had in my bag. The spa treatment was fine, but really over priced in comparison to others in Cape Town. I asked during the massage if it could be a little stronger. Something I have never had to do before. I would not return. The manager Andrew or Andy was walking around like he owned the place and contributing to a strange atmosphere. He was acting like it was his house. Dreased for the beach and with his wife, he was calling at staff across the lawn. Then he started spraying his child with the hose pipes, this was disturbing guests trying to relax. When he finished, he just walked off leaving the water running, after 10 minutes I decided to turn it off myself. The food was fine, but the burger bun was stale. I probably would have not really cared but obviously no one checked to see how our food was. The gentleman at reception with glasses was really good, but he was the only person who cared. Therefore was trying to do everything on his own. I really think this place could be world class and I hope they sort it out. I expect they will not acknowledge my review and instead just use the copy and paste text they have done with everyone else.

This is one of the best places in Cape Town. We had the best time there!! Best massages in the outdoor tent. Padel classes, outstanding nature and much fun! Special thanks to the staff- especially Nelson our best Padel partner, Given who always made us laugh and Josh for being the best trainer in Padel! We will definitely come back to this beautiful place! Lots of love Diana & Julia

Camps Bay Retreat is by far my favorite hotel. Mostly because of the service I received which surpassed all of my expectations. The staff was so lovely and very attentive to my needs. I planned to switch hotels halfway through to get the most out of my trip and am regretting that fully because nothing has felt as warm and welcoming as CBR! The grounds are magical! For someone who loves the outdoors, this is was a dream to discover. There are pools, walkings paths, swings, beautiful gardens, and the location is perfect! It is within a 5 minute walk to the beach, shops, and amazing restaurants. The room was perfect for a relaxing oasis. I had direct view of the ocean and the paddle courts which added some great live entertainment. The room had the most magical bathtub and wood burning hot tub which were perfect to enjoy during load shedding. I know many people complained about the lack of generators but I found it nice to be forced to unplug and enjoy what the room had to offer. I am already planning my next trip and will absolutely be staying with CBR!

We went for their afternoon tea. Some of the worst service I've received in Cape Town. We weren't even greeted with a hello. We were ignored by wait staff and not even given menus or explained the options to order. Waited ages for the food and then they wanted to clear it before we were even finished. Very disappointing experience.

We stayed here for three nights in May. Excellent location in Camps Bay - less than a 10 minute walk to the beach and away from the noise of local bars and restaurants. A truly exceptional experience. Ocean views, huge rooms with thoughtful personalised touches throughout the hotel and truly attentive staff (they add you to a WhatsApp group where you can request items, order taxis and ask for advice!) Wish we could have stayed longer.

We went for lunch The service was slow and we had to keep calling for service There were 2 managers. Each one saying that they were one of the managers. Not once did they come to check whether everything was alright with the guests nor control the staff. They were all more concerned about the new dog that had come to join the hotel. The behavior of staff in the kitchen was another level. Laughing and speaking on the top of their voices and the dining room was right off the kitchen. The door was standing wide open. When we reached out to the Manager's they were totally disinterested and not one apologized nor showed any interest whatsoever. It was absolutely shocking abd totally unprofessional. The staff looked surprised at our complaints and none showed any sign of remorse nor assisted us further to make up for the very poor service. They seem way too relaxed and there is no control within the managerial positions. Very bad attitude. From when we arrived the Managers made no eye contact nevermind a greeting upon arrival. A very unhappy experience!

Very disappointed in the customer service and follow-up. I called three weeks ago to book breakfast on the 5th of December. I was told they would look at it and call me back. The week after that I called again, asking for some feedback. Again, same reply, again no call back. Today was the 5th and I refused to call a third time to check if my reservation was allright. I know this is busy season, but up your game please.

Where to start. I tried to book for the spa for a couples package. I emailed bookings, as well as the spa directly. No response. I then called the spa to follow up, in which the call was near to inaudible, completely rude and unhelpful telling me that I must just wait and they will reply to my email. A few days later, no reply to the email, so I call again. They say they will book me in for the couples package (which they barely knew the details of what it was) and send me a confirmation email. Of course, no confirmation email was sent. I tried to call today to CANCEL my booking, and the phone was put down on me twice. Truly unbelievable.

Disappointing stay. The room was not advertised as overlooking an area undergoing reforestation (this is quite a large part of the property) and we felt this should have been mentioned prior to booking or the affected rooms should not be in use. Personally I think the rooms could use a bit of updating too. Reception seemed unbothered by our disappointment however and keen for us to just pay and move on. While I understand some work needs doing our experience was not great for ‘a retreat’ and I won’t be recommending this or coming back in a hurry. The Manor House views, breakfast and service staff were really great on the plus side.

I was here for breakfast. I immediatly felt the inner peace and tranquility while watching the ocean. The level of care and beauty they have been putting here is amazing. I like to share some beautiful shots. Enjoy! Next to that the breakfast was amazing and they offer healthy choices. Wauw.

Beautiful hotel. Room lovely and a great powerful shower. Breakfast really good and staff friendly. The only reason for a 4 is the constant noise from the tennis court. They need to put a time restriction on it. Waking up to the noise of tennis and shouting at 630 am is not very relaxing!

We stayed at The Glen across the street but had access to Camps Bay Retreat and their grounds. It was such an amazing place. Beautiful views, wonderful service (shout-out to Andrew in particular), and a great restaurant and bar. The gardens and trails on the property are special and you can get right down to Glen Beach. I wish we could've spent more time there. We had a late flight on our check out day and they went out of their way to offer us a vacant room to shower before we left for the airport. Look no further!

Absolutely fabulous. With a suspensions bridge to add to the fun. Felt like a retreat in a busy area. Fairly priced too!

Our company decided to dine at Bella's Restaurant for a celebratory dinner. From the get-go, Sean's communication was speedy and helpful. When visiting Camps Bay Retreat, the views left us in awe. The staff were so friendly and professional, and we are very grateful to Sean for taking us on a tour of the estate. The food was absolutely incredible. A huge thank you to Chef Siya. The rest of the team, Ntswake, Zolani, Qaeed, Sibulele & Vincent were awesome and made our night the special event that it was.

Spent the morning at the Spa ... the Spa had a beautiful fire place in the room . It was in a beautiful setting, you felt like you were in the middle of a forest. The Therapists were excellent. We had a lovely lunch on the terrace afterwards.
