Home from home. Very large room and ensuite. Clean, tidy, well decorated. Good food for breakfast and fixed price 3-course dinner. The staff are awesome, fun and friendly. Free parking too.

Really bad food, asked both the chef and the waiter personally to make me a medium rare steak and they gave me a well done steak with raw undercooked potatoes. Had a tuna salad which was basically just a can of tuna dumped on some lettuce with no salad dressing or any seasoning. Will never go and eat there again.

We felt very comfortable as we entered. All was arranged as expected. Outstanding services rendered by staff to make our stay a memorable one. Akhona,Sandy ,Lulama, Kholeka and Linda, thank you. You went of your way to ensure my wife received prescribed meals. For my birthday the chef created a special birthday surprise. Thank you. We will definitely come again Thank you. Will definitely recommend.

I had the best day there friendly stuff. Nice sized rooms. And the best breakfast buffet. Just a pity that they haven't learned to clean the ketchup bottles and jam jars look awful.

Me and my family always book at different protea hotels and have been pro card members for years .It was our first time trying Tygervalley and the experience was terrible. We weren’t greeted in a kind way,we had to pay extra for 2 people even though we booked for 4 people ,we called for coffee and milk to be brought up to our room and nobody brought it ,the man as reception was rude and put off the phone. We felt unwelcome even though we were paying to be there ,I would never visit this hotel again .When our holiday was over we confronted the staff and asked to speak to a manager but instead they red flagged us for our bookings at other protea hotels and sent a rude email .I am very disappointed .The pool was also locked even though they said it would be open @7,we had to get one of the nice staff members to open the pool.I love protea hotels but don’t recommend the one in Tygervalley

I am booked here for a long work trip, this is my experience so far: - Location is good, close to the malls and a nice view point up the road. - Room is basic, for the costs I expected much better. - Rooms are cleaned daily but never smells clean and fresh. Clean towels had dirt marks on them. - On the day of my arrival in CT, reservations called me changing my stay to another hotel due to unforeseen maintenance. The other hotel was across the road from the airport in an industrial area. No shops or malls close by. After expressing my unhappiness, my Protea reservation was suddenly reinstated. - If you enjoy your sleep, this is not the place for you. Noise disturbances from other residents until early hours of the morning. I had to buy myself ear plugs. - The reservation person that called me with the change of hotel eventually ignored emails, not very professional. - Today 19 Oct, I get here after a long day to find no running water. Called reception and was told that there is a water fault in the area. I asked if they have a contingency plan to which he offered water that I can boil in the room and use out of the basin. I called City of Cape Town myself and was told that there are no faults, outages in Tyger Valley. Not sure who the liar is in this situation. Based on this, I will never consider a Protea again. This has been and still is an unpleasant experience. I am dreading the rest of my stay!

no fridge or microwave in room, not obvious before booking. many tv channels could not be viewed at all, grainy or hardly any image. restaurant is a no go in person, orderded food in a group, half the group received food, other half 40 minutes later after having to follow up. ordering from room the same dish was missing various ingredients each time. e.g. garden sald was missing feta on day 1, then day 2 it was missing olives etc. side order of chips were normal, kinda spicy and extremely spicy, no consitancy. constant issues witj making payment as their payment point hardly ever had signal. laundry was R 1000 for 21 items, mainly t shirts and underwear :/. bed was very uncomfortable, dipped in centre. power would be turned off an on daily at midnight to turn your aircon off. the wifi stopped working and they came to switch the room power off and on again after I tried to explain the router is not in the room, that they need to reboot the router itself or ask their IT company to check.

It started off bad due to restaurant prokard with a lady giving me tough time even though I explained that I booked with prokard unlike at breakwater lodge (which I'm extremely disappointed with there service) I'm glad that Stanley and Busisiwe sorted my issues out I have to say if it wasn't for them I'd be canceling my prokard membership immediately. Thank you team for such a wonderful service

Although the view is beautiful, the service from some of the staff is terrible. the rooms are right by the high way and horribly noisy through the night. The rooms are not cheap, there are much better option available for less in the area. Not recommended at ALL

Make sure you choose a room with a view. Rooms need a makeover. Service is good and friendly.

So the room I got had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, even though there are clear signs that all rooms are non-smoking rooms. I was however allocated a different room when I pointed this out at the front desk.

Staff 5 stars for service , availability 4/5 I think the hotel under staffed for certain shifts, there were some time during the day after breakfast rush and after dinner it was hard to find front of house or bar staff. The rooms were clean, breakfast was good but the omlette station was oversubscribed. Rooms clean 5/5 and overall service 4/5. NIGHT STAFF GET 5/5.

It's a perfect spot for a quick social catch up over coffee or drinks with a spectacular view. Intimate bar and restaurant. Budget friendly, safe and pristine.

I've stayed at Road Lodges that were more comfortable and "luxurious". It's like an apartment block where you get ur own dreary hostel style room. Even the lights here are dull...like the ambience. If it were in a hotel set-up, it might be more understandable. There is not even a balcony...probably best - would have had to throw myself off it for my poor choices. TV plan here sucks too. Only MNet, M4, ID and a few sports channels. Download something to your phone otherwise you will be staring at the beige and turquoise walls all night.

Bad service, forced to eat buffet even when you want to order from menu equivalent of the voucher from work! Potatoe-lasagna was very under cooked, dessert horrible…worse their food made me sick! Horrible customer service, disrespectful. Bathroom not cleaned!

Beautiful view. Stay ruined by the loud generator. Will not be back anytime soon as it is not even that close to the airport. Will explore the greater Durbanville area in future.

We had a PPRA exam in the conference centre and the staff were gracious, organised very well, considering they had to accommodate 20 more candidates at the last moment. Well done! Thank you! Carol Odendaal

Had very good service for my limited experience of staying in hotels. They have excellent views over the city. The room was always clean and tidy. We stayed in a twin with 2 double beds. They were comfortable and snug. Not too spacious which is my experience of hotel rooms. Will probably be different if you stay on a different type of room, say a double or suite. Will definitely recommend.

Thank you to the friendly staff today, especially the manager on duty (unfortunately can't remember your name). You went way beyond your scope of duty trying to calm down a mob of estate agents and getting everyone comfortable to write their exam at your venue. I appreciate all your efforts and I'm sure a lot of others do too. Have a restful and calm afternoon 💐

If you like trying to fall asleep adjacent to a busy highway, cold coffee at the buffet and scales on your fish when you order room service, then this is the place for you.

After getting to the hotel I'm told there's a minor water issue that will be resolved shortly. Many hours later there is no water at all and when I call the City of Cape Town they confirm that there is no fault and there should be water. I'm clearly not the first person to experience this situation. I'm told that there is nothing they can do and I'll lose my money if I choose to go to another hotel and will not be reimbursed. Pathetic service! Update: after speakingwith City of Cape Town on the phone, with the hotel manager present, it is clear that the manager was not calling hourly to ensure that issues were being addressed. The hotel made the entire situation my issue to resolve and were clearly lying about getting updates.

They should really get smart tv's in the rooms. The channels available on their current TV is terrible!

Made a reservation for a birthday dinner. On arrival, booking was not captured and table was not reserved. My date celebrating her birthday wanted the penne pasta dish, however we were told that the pasta needs to be rolled out and would have to order an alternative meal. After ordering an alternative meal, we were told there is pasta but only spaghetti, which in itself was strange since there was no meal on the menu with spaghetti. My date had chosen a chicken breast meal and I had ordered a T-Bone steak. At this moment we were already getting upset because what establishment has pasta on the menu and no pasta in the kitchen. When my steak arrived along with what was supposed to be our starter but because of the pasta predicament only the steak and starter came out and the starter was offered by the waitress to my date as to not let her wait without food. Chicken taco starter was nice, we liked that and it was about the only thing we liked about our experience. My steak was covered in what tasted like roast gravy instead of a steak basting/marinade. I am assuming that the roast gravy offered at the buffet that night was more convenient to use as to making a proper marinade. Anyway steak tasted like kidney and roast which was not nice and we sent it back to the kitchen. The waiter advised that a fresh steak will be prepared without the gravy, it would be out in 5 - 10 minutes. The stuffed chicken breast dish arrived a few minutes after, albeit a bit dry, it tasted okay according to my date. After my date had ate three quarters of her meal, my steak had still not arrived and we decided that we will be leaving without me having a meal. Between the time i sent the steak back to the time the steak arrived, no waiter approached our table. When the second steak eventually arrived 40 minutes later, I had already lost my appetite and sent it back to the kitchen and asked for the bill. Interesting thing to note is that some patrons are served faster than others in this establishment. The managers position in the restaurant is non-existant, when food is sent back twice I'd expect any manager would want to know from the customer what the issue is. We were at Point of View restaurant during covid and suffered through the same poor service, however thought that service was poor due to covid and decided to try the restaurant again, sadly we found that service is just poor in general. My date found that the whole experience spoiled her birthday. Not to mention the fact that we drove 45 minutes to get to the establishment during loadshedding, only to have the night ruined. Uploaded pics of the meals we eventually received.

Satisfied overall. Good house keeping, room service, friendly and helpful front desk personnel. Variety of breakfast buffet and always caringly ready to serve staff.

The most important thing to me is a kitchen sink to get water for coffee and at least be able to wash the dirty cups and to have at least plates with knives and forks which my room had none of
