This is not a four star hotel. They tell you that they don’t have room service but you can order food from the restaurant and you can bring it to the room. But you would get decent cutlery only plastic rubbish that breaks after two bites. You can order a bottle of sparkling vine or similar to bring to your room but you cannot bring glasses. You will get plastic cups! So their service does not qualify for four stars! Kind regards Traveler with 200 hotel nights a year….

I'm there on a business trip ordered room service took over an hour for the food to get ready only for them to deliver the wrong order. Orderd cake and it took 35min. Amazing view however due to the maintainace area being near by noise levels where hectic from the early hours of the morning as well as later in the afternoon. There was bearly any hot water had a cold shower at 5pm and 6am inexcusable for a 5 star hotel. Reported it, was told that maintenance would come and still Noone. Decided to go to dinner else where due to the disappointing service spoke to reception on my return about the hot water, still nothing. My preferred hotel group is always sun international, however thos specific hotel is not up to standard!!

It is in a good secure location, with friendly staff. The breakfast was really good and had a wide range of things to eat. I really enjoyed their fluffy flapjacks, too☺️. The restaurant has very homely tasting food. The rooms were clean, neat, and comfortable to be in. I loved the room view of Lions' head and table mountain, quite refreshing. I highly recommend and would definitely come back.

Had a good time on my arrival. My last night experience was that my room was not ready until 5pm and even then it was not properly cleaned. Someone was sent to rectify that. Ultimately a Manager sent an apology letter and a gesture. Other than that, it's a nice place and staff members are professional and have humility.

Siya and staff worked very hard with some extremely difficult customers to contend with on a busy night. I have to commend them to the management on their professionalism and calmness. The food was excellent but I reserve 5 stars because although the staff worked tirelessly I felt they needed some training to help them. All the staff from reception to porters and housekeeping were excellent and a credit to SunSquare! Keep it up!

Staff were lovely. Lady at reception wonderful and was our personal Zomato. House keeping manager always goes around checking all rooms everyday to check the cleanliness. perfect location. The buffet food had a bit of cross contamination. Not enough spoons or tongs for each plate/container. You would have to use the same tong to pick up different items of food.

Had a great experience the hotel is good beside the bar area that is always fully packed during the because it's accessible to everyone, it should be kept private for people who has bookings for a stay.

I was there about 2 weeks ago and will not be staying there again. In fact I asked the agent to book me elsewhere the same night I arrived. Unfortunately all places were full for that night. I was supposed to stay for 2 nights, stayed for 1. It didn't help that I left my blazer when I checked out in the morning and when I came to collect it I was told no one saw it. Basically cleanliness is questionable, I asked to change rooms but all rooms were full. The carpets need a good clean and curtains in my room were falling off the hooks etc In the morning I woke up to maintenance and painting, on my floor. The smell of chemicals used was a bit much.

Me and my friend highly enjoyed our stay at the SunSquare Hotel. The location is perfect for trips around the city, and it’s close to Bree street where you can find many cafes/restaurants/bars. The gym had a perfect view and the breakfast is very very delicious. I usually don’t like buffet style, however here the variety of the breakfast offerings was very good. We stayed for 8 nights. The view from the rooftop is just amazing! Definitely a place to stay! Thank you - the team has been lovely and excellent!

Good location and rooms. Unwelcoming reception. Was allocated a room that already had someone in it, by an unprofessional receptionist. Was allocated another room but that came with so much back and forth and miscommunication about moving again the next day. The receptionist also did not bother telling me about the hotel amenities. Was told by the porter. The only commendable staff in this hotel are the porter and security. The rest do not need to work in the service industry, with their lack lustre customer service. Also, which hotel does not offer room service in this day and age?

Had an enjoyable stay. The room was very clean and comfortable with a good view of Cape Town central. There is a small indoor swimming pool on the top floor as well as a rooftop bar with wonderful views. I was a but disappointed that we only received one bottle of water for 2 people, there was no room service and minimal bathroom products. Also it is R50 a night to park under ground. However breakfast at the restaurant downstairs was very nice with friendly service. It is a very central convenient hotel.

My experience is solely based on the service. As much as this is a hotel in a very safe location and the rooms are okay, i was very much unpleased and dissapointed with the kind of service and clientele offered in the hotel. From housekeeping to restaurants, let alone the very cheeky staff with no respect to people visiting the hotel. It was very sad because even where we are suppose to pass our grievance to "the manager", the manager gave us a very cold shoulder with zero to no attention at all. The staff was very unfriendly. The showers were cold.

I strongly discourage choosing this hotel. Despite their claim of a 06:30 breakfast, it wasn't available and we paid for it only to leave for the airport without eating. During our stay getting a simple cup of coffee took multiple requests due to poor service. The reception staff didn't even say hi or bye when we left the hotel. Additionally, the room amenities were lacking, with only two small bottles of water. Considering the price, there are far better options available.

I attended a work related presentation.... The outlay was nice, staff friendly and very helpful but their food did not impress me as it's like food I eat at home. Desert looked nice but I couldn't eat due to my diabetes. That was sad...eating out without desert. I cannot speak of the rooms as I didn't use it...

Reception welcomes you with big smiles and great humour to make you comfortable from the weird go. 14th floor is very good for rooftop drinks and nibbles as well as great viewing down on the surrounds

Just back from a 3 night /4 day stay at SunSquare City Bowl. Had an amazing stay. The room quality was absolutely great, and so was the breakfast selection. All employees that we came in contact with were very friendly and helpful, specifically Bevan who was extremely friendly and helpful and who initially took time to show me the rooms, etc, before I could confirm my booking and make payment. Will definitely be back soon and will recommend SunSquare City Bowl to others.

Rooms are nice and comfortable. Had a small issue with the basin and asked for a different room. Staff were excellent in changing my room.

We did not have a good experience at this hotel. Firstly paying for parking should be included in the room rate. We stayed on the 9th floor in a harbour facing room and heard loud music as well as felt the vibrations of the music that went on until the early hours of the morning. The hotel should have soundproof windows installed as this is disturbing and makes for a difficult nights rest. The hotel key card stopped working and we had to go and up down the lifts three times until reception got it right to give us access to our rooms again. Like I told the manager, we didn’t fly from London to ride lifts up and down all day just to get access to our room. If you are gluten free (coeliac) then the breakfast here is not for you as it’s all buffet style and a clear lack of understanding of what gluten free even is. This was even after mentioning it to the reception team at check in. Water control in the shower is also inadequate as they have no proper controls between hot and cold.

Mediocre hotel not worth the price! Was highly disappointed! Room had no drinking glasses, just coffee mugs, no decent sized water bottles, no face towels! Temperature on the aircon doesn’t cool the room when you set it! We had to call each day for these items! Room cleaning was a joke, they didn’t clean anything, just tossed the dirty beddings inside out, refolded towels and that was it! They’d never put new water bottles in the room and you had to call them yet again! When they did bother cleaning the bathroom it smelled awful, don’t know what materials they used to clean the bathroom but each time we came back to the room it stunk! At breakfast they’d run out of syrup for the pancakes and drinking glasses! We had to drink out of spit cups!! Who does that? A whole 3 star hotel gives you hospital like medicine cups for breakfast and that’s ok??? For the price we paid to stay here, that is simply unacceptable!! They seem to not know how to cater to a large crowd of people?!! They seem overwhelmed shockingly enough! The location is convenient to reach tourist spots but there are far superior hotels around! You’d do better staying elsewhere if you want to enjoy your stay comfortably!

Nice hotel for an overnight. The rooms are clean and provides what's needed for the night. It's a bit small for 4 people. The breakfast was good thwy had a nice variety to start the day off.

The hotel is clean, accessible, staff more than welcoming. Rooms are a joke away. The food is fresh and delicious.

I enjoyed my stay here and the staff was very friendly and helpful as well. My breakfast omelette and coffee was delicious as well. The rooftop bar is quite cool, just wish the weather was better this morning to spend more time outside.

Stayed at Sunsquare City Bowl 5 nights. The hotel is modern and tastefully decorated. Rooms are spacious. The service levels are not great though. We had issues with our bathroom that were not attended to when reported and we then had maintenance at our room at 10:30 pm to correct what could have been done when reported at 1pm to reception. Cleaning is inconsistent. Towels forgotten, tissues not replaced, vacuuming questionable. We had a knock at our door at 9am on Sunday asking if we wanted or room serviced and at what time would we be done. Doesn’t it get serviced daily? Hotel has great potential but the service needs to be addressed.

For two nights out of the four I stayed there for a business trip, I couldn’t use the rooftop bar that’s so widely publicized. Both Saturday and Sunday there was a party happening and although guests are welcome to join, most tables are reserved and the music is so loud, you can’t enjoy the sunset with a drink and read a book or do some work. From my room on the 11th floor I could hear the music as if I was at the party myself. The management needs to decide where to focus on - do they want to market themselves as a party hotel or as a respectable hotel with a nice rooftop bar for business travelers and families?

Food is not always the same size if you eat at restaurant the portion is very much bigger than the take away. Food is expensive but nice. Staff in restaurant is not very helpfull I went for a sit down in the restaurant but they gave me food for take away it was as if they didn't want me to sit down inside the restaurant. And somehow you never get what you ordered, you ask for rice then you get chakalaka and they always forget to bring your sauce you ordered with your food. It's not all or everybody but there was a few very helpfull staff that was always very helpfull and willing to assist.

We booked a dinner at 6pm for a family farewell for my mother in-law. The down stairs restaurant feels more like a dinner hall, its was so cold no heat. We want to order a pinotage wine, they only had Kanonkop and did not even it in stock. We had to go with another option that was not to bad. The food was good and the waiter was very friendly and she try her best with the limited wine stock they had. It was just disappointing with the coldness and limited wine list they have had. Their menu on line and the menu in restaurant does not correspond, they seriously need to update their website as on their website they advertise steak but dont have it on their "so call new menu". If you want a special event I would not recommend this place but the food is amazing.

The water was not hot in the shower in the morning or the water pressure dropped when switched to full hot water in my room. The rooms are clean. The staff were friendly. My room had a nice view of Table Mountain and Lion's Head.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and my stays have always been extremely pleasant; however, the standards have clearly dropped and the attitude of the staff is definitely reflective of this. The bathroom and towels littered with what looked like public hair when I checked in. There was a weird dripping noise in the room that occasionally appears. When I complained to the staff about this they did not seem to be bothered about this at all, no apologies and definitely no concern.
