All the 5 star reviews of this hotel are either paid for (all have the same structure and thank a member of staff specifically) or are by the owners and friends. I have said it previously and i will do it again for emphasis. Happy Rhino is where dreams go to die. Fairly certain it is one of the 7 levels of hell. Much like the witch from Hansel and Gretel, this place will lure you in only to trap and imprison you. Good luck to all the poor souls who chose to stay here after fair warning.

DO NOT BOOK AT THIS PLACE!! I am sure this place needs to be inspected by a health inspector. It is also definitely not electrical compliant with wall plugs open and exposed wired in the rooms (a renovated room). There was a serwege pipe that seem to have burst in one of the hallways and it was dealt with by slapping some duct tape on it. The ceiling was not cleaned. Apart from the above health and safety concerns. The rooms have no decor, no scatter cushions, no towels, no coffee, tea or kettle as promised. It is also not a bathroom but more a wet room with a glass window that is completely see through if the light is switched on. The excuse of a basin is located almost directly over the toilet. You can drink water out of the tap while sitting on the toilet. Apart from basic functionality being horrible, it was absolutely filthy. They definitely do not clean these rooms!! The bedding had stains on it. There were no towels either. We requested towels on check in (16h00). At 21h00 we still didn't have any towels. There were 14 other guests at reception complaining about the same issues. 'Clean' towels arrived and on inspection they also were dirty. We left and demanded a refund. This place should close down there doors!!! It is disgusting and nothing like the photos!!

The Happy Rhino Hotel disappointed us beyond measure. The pictures on the website don’t even compare in the slightest way to what the place actually looks like. The rooms are extremely small, smell like sewage, are extremely unhygienic (dirty linen) and there is no TV like advertised. It is obvious this place is mainly booked out by party goers who just need a bed to sleep in as the noise and age group of the people in the hotel make it obvious. We couldn’t even bring ourselves to stay a night here and checked out on our first day and we were refused a refund. By reading the below comments, it’s obvious that this hotel doesn’t meet many peoples expectations and it’s sad to see nothing is done about it. I highly recommend not booking your stay at this hotel

Wow so amazing I've booked a five nights stay at this hotel and at first i got a room that was very small for a couple and then decided to upgrade and i must say the guy at the front desk was so amazing he immediately upgrade our room to an apartment no hassles. So it's only our third night here and my husband and I would like to thank everyone for their kindness and professionalism also i must include this since day one we received clean towels and an extra blanket and thank you Robin for keeping our place clean and for always making sure that we have clean linen and whatever we need. I would surely recommend this place to everyone. Apartment 307 is the best we have a great view and chilling on the balcony with free music from the club down the street 🤣🤣. Once again thank you guys so much.

The reception staff were extremely friendly Melody and Candice very helpful & professional with good customer care. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel rooms were clean and there is evidence that the hotel is doing everything in their power to prevent the spread of COVID-19.a Big thanks to Zikhona

Please, PLEASE , never book here. I booked at this hotel for me and 11 of my other friends for my 21st birthday… Paid for everything already and when we got there to book in they said they never received any payment? I showed them the proof of payment as well as the reference of the Hotel I paid it into.. When we got there all the rooms were fully booked.. We waited 4 hours for the manager to arrive.. They are still refusing to pay back the money I paid to them.. This is ridiculous.. Please do yourself a favor and NEVER book at this hotel.. It’s honestly not worth a penny.. Oh and don’t bother ringing.. Because they won’t pick up! We had to go find somewhere else to sleep because the Hotel refused to help us. This happened to several other people as well on the same day when they arrived to book into their rooms.

Sandra has been the best service provider during my stay. The place felt as good as home away from home. Will do this again and again. Your place becomes the best with gentle, kind and humble people like her.

The staff went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. A lady named Monica really ensured that we lacked nothing, she made whole experience worthwhile. Big ups Monica, keep on doing great work👏. We will definitely visit again

Dear Manager of The Happy Rhino Hotel, I am writing to you to express my disappointment and concern about the fake advertisement of your hotel. It has come to my attention that the images and descriptions published on your website and across social media platforms regarding the services your hotel provides are false. Your misleading advertisement made me choose your hotel and has caused me great inconvenience and dissatisfaction during my stay. The hotel room I was provided with upon arrival was different than the one advertised on your website. The room was outdated and lacked the luxury conveniences advertised. I kindly demand that The Happy Rhino Hotel remove the false advertisements from all platforms, once and for all. Additionally, I demand that you compensate me for the inconvenience endured during my stay. Kindly provide a refund for the room charges and other relevant fees as soon as possible. I warn you that if you do not respond positively and take immediate action to rectify the situation, I will take legal action. The false advertising of your hotel is unacceptable and illegal. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the next steps that will be taken on your part.

I had the worst experience. I had traveled from kzn to cape, and when I arrived at the hotel I was then told that someone else had occupied the room I had booked. Bare in mind I made the booking online. I then had to leave and look for accommodation somewhere else in the middle of the night. I didn't get any refund till today. Never book this hotel.

You get what you pay for. The location is amazing, but that's about it on the positive side. Waited 30 minutes to be checked in. After being checked in, the room that I was allocated to was dirty and filled with some else's belongings, I was then assigned another room. It appears (to me) as though they are understaffed. The staff that is present is not eager to help and disinterested. I would not recommend this place unless you don't have any other options.

This was the worst hotel I have ever booked in my entire existence. The linen is stained, the bathroom is awfully small that when you shower, it were the entire bathroom and to top it off, there were no towels in the room. The place is just dirty, you don’t wanna put anything down there. The drains look horrible. Worst thing is room service that cleans in the morning, they were making me panic 1 hour before my checkout time, came into my room and undressed the beds while I was taking a shower getting ready to leave! Totally unacceptable.

I visited this immaculate hotel earlier this year and I really just want to say that the service I received was absolutely amazing. A young lady by the name of Zikhona made it extra special as she is very friendly, does her job so precisely and just went all out. I will definitely be back and that young lady in my opinion deserves some sort bonus😉😉

Apon arrival the first thing that I noticed was the awful smell of sewage which was already very unpleasant . The staff were very unorganised. Privacy was an issue. People would walk into our room randomly and it made us feel very uncomfortable and unsafe staying here. Bathroom smelt bad and room did not look like the pictures on the website. Very noisy. We booked in for 2 nights but checked out the next morning. Would not recommend this place.

This place is by far the worst hotel you would want to stay in. Fake images of the hotel are used to get you to buy in. It smells like sewage everywhere, rooms are super tiny. No ventilation in the rooms. If. you ask any uber driver in the area, they confirm that Happy Rhino is a definite no no. I'd eat a plate of s%$t before I book at Happy Rhino again

From the beginning to the end the stay was lekker. The people at reception were very friendly. They gave us a nice room. I'd recommend staying there any day. The price is always good throughout the year.

Horrible experience, false advertising. What you see on the website totally different to the actual venue. They insist on keeping your ID or Cellphone. The door couldn't close properly so one could easily look in from the outside. Had booked 2 single beds which were there... But there wasn't enough room to put our suitcases in. Parking is also paid for on a daily basis....

I had a very dramatic experience at the Hotel. It was a nightmare. This was in 2021, I booked my stay online from abroad, I arrived at the hotel, they demanded my documents to book in. For some reason I never got my passport back, I further got stuck in the elevator for 3hours, of which when I returned to my room, my items were missing. Not to mention that they changed the rooms, from the room I was initially booked in, to a smaller room. I had paid online, but every morning the housekeepers kept knocking on my room reminding me it's check out time, validating that I must pay. This was by far the worst Hotel experience I've ever had. I lost a lot of things at this hotel, my passport is the fundamental thing I was robbed in that hotel. I do not recommend this hotel to anyon.

The rooms are small yet comfortable. Unfortunately the service was not pleasant especially when we had our luggage moved between rooms without first being consulted. Try to be back in the hotel by dusk, the area is populated by a wide range of risky characters

Staff very Friendly..... But this place definitely needs to be inspected. Smells like sewer everywhere. Bedding has stains on it... bathroom being horribly small.... people smoking in the hallways so obviously smoke detectors not working... sliding Windows don't even lock properly other windows don't even handles on...Worst place ever... Can definitely use new management... also very false advertising as the photos on the website shows a very different image to what you are receiving!!

Wish i could give them a negative rating. Seriously needs to be shut down! Gives Hospitality in South Africa, Not just Cape town, a bad name! Never made it to the rooms but the service from this place, From the "General Manager" to the receptionists was disgusting!
