Nice place to go to if you looking for a pure vegetarian place. The food is freshly prepared and delicious. We ordered take away this time. The paneer curry was so delicious, soft and fresh. Kofta balls in the tomato chutney was yummy as always. We also ordered the margherita pizza, it was freshly made and had a nice thin base. For the few times I have ordered pizza. It’s advised you phone and place the order as there isn’t really pizza on hand like the curry. We also ordered the carrot cake so nice and fresh. My favourite is the chocolate cupcakes with cream. It’s to die for I would highly recommend Govindas and definitely will be coming back

Have been there 3/4 weeks ago very reasonable however had a takeaway today and was charged R50 No rice, only 2 veg (subji) R3 for 1 chapati???? Rather expensive, was told by the young lady take away more expensive???? Whilst I am.happy to support I dont like being over charged Its not always possible to sit down to eat where I was told its cheaper. The food is very tasty and enjoyable.

The place for burger and chips. I drive from the West Coast to Southern Suburbs just for this. Worth it.

One of the best prego steak rolls in Cape Town and they make their own sauces which are also great.

TLDR: Good food (nothing to really brag about), price not entirely justified. Not great, not terrible. Fabrica Do Prego in Rondebosch is a small "prego joint" as they call it, where you can grab a quick bite-to-eat. I tried their beef burger and chips. The burger was prepared with fresh ingredients, complete with a hand-pressed beef patty. The burger tasted good but it was nothing spectacular; in short, I've had way better. I'm not entirely convinced that I can give a place 4+ stars when they can't even impress me with a standard beef burger. Noteworthy, their star menu item is the prego steak roll (they are a prego joint after all) although I didn't get a chance to try it. Fabrica Do Prego otherwise has good food; is clean and has good customer service so it's definitely worth checking out if prego rolls are your thing. All-in-all it just lacked that "wow" factor I was looking for to justify giving them 4+ stars, so I'll give them a cheeky 3/5 stars.

Govindas is a awesome - I go for lunch at least once a week. Homey, tasty, consistent, yummy vegetarian fare. It’s a Hare Krisna spot and they share their calm and non-violent atmosphere with everyone. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re religious or not. Wonderful, quiet respite from the work day!

I always come here with my mother or friends We enjoy their variety of food for affordable price. Please don't laugh at your customers, something that I notice to be disrespectful. I asked if I could get more eggplant ( potatoes& eggplant curry) I was laughed at (for a long time) as if I said something funny. I am a regular here ( over 15 times!) and I did not expect that. Then when I went to pay,I said she can keep the change.... She laughed at me again....so rude!

Reliably nice tasting takeaway. Great community place. Not big on ambience. They do chicken - well! ... Quick, reasonably priced, and convenient. Nothing fancy, but flavourful, char-grilled chicken; their chips are not crisp - so don't expect them to be, and you can ask to have your chips with salt and vinegar.

The atmosphere is highly conducive for one's well being....There is a powerful sense of feeling home at Govinda's. The carrot cake is a divine treat too.

Incredibly high quality fast food, packed with flavour, and dangerously delicious! Their BBQ sauce is by far the best I’ve ever had.

The food is still great, but it's getting expensive for what it is. A side of fries is especially costly, more than in most high-end sit-down restaurants and not for a particularly generous portion either. That said the barbecue sauce is definitely worth buying a take-home bottle of.

Quality at Rondebosch has dropped since new name....Chips rather old re-fried. And I asked for no vinegar n salt. And got vinegar and salt. Used to be my favorite steak roll n chips place.

Always great food. Best prego sauce around. Very busy place for good reason. They offer the legendary prego rolls in chicken or beef. Whole flame grilled chicken, burgers and a good range of salads. There are different specials on different days of the week. Parking is available right outside but can be at a premium during busy times. The entrance into the restaurant has a small step, so might be a slight challenge for some wheelchair users.
