A few years ago, we just loved this little gem of a place, shall I say once upon a time! On arrival you keep on buzzing the gate and no response. Happened twice. Eventually you make use of your hooter to get the attention of reception. Please do not dare ask them why they don’t open the gate, you get told “you did not ring the bell”! At reception a lady came begging for a warmer blanket for her little one, the more she asked for one, the more the reception lady asked her did she not get a blanket? Quite embarrassing. The Wild Fig restaurant was very enjoyable. The Hotel room was beautiful. Sadly it had a terrible bad toilet spray/mouldy bathroom smell, so overwhelming and unbearable that one could not bare the smell for longer than a few seconds. It did not help much as the room was standing closed with no ventilation. One can only imagine how long it’s been like this. After a few minutes more, we decided to leave and cut this bad experience short, and find an alternative place to stay. On reporting our unsatisfactory experience to management the next day, it became even worse! After management had enough time to check on all the facts and call me back, the reception manager did not do so. Once again I had to telephone the reception manager, who in turn had this unacceptable tone of arrogance in her voice. After explaining to her how to check on all the facts, it was evident her lack of experience in this regard. I asked her for the Hotel manager at 4:20pm in the afternoon, I was told he had already left. After demanding to speak to the hotel manager, I eventually got a call from him this morning. Obviously he only heard his reception managers version, and already made up his mind how he was going to deal with this. I explained everything over again and asked him to please check all the facts properly before addressing the issue further. He said he would, but don’t hold your breath. My recommendation: Do not book here, as they do not live up to the standard this prestigious hotel once had!

Unexpected gem, off the beaten path. We were so pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The staff are exceptionally lovely. Our room was spacious and cleaned very well. (The rooms are slightly outdated since the building is more historic, but we honestly didn't mind.) The hotel is also quite conveniently located, close to Town and the highway. There is definitely room for improvement at the breakfast buffet: The dining room is super noisy as the floors are wooden and old - I would suggest the use of rugs to lessen the noise generated by chairs and footsteps. The food was good, but some things are better when they are made to order, e.g. pancakes. The service was straight up poor. We never even got a chance to order a second round of coffee.

Staff is very pleasant & friendly. Delicious breakfast and I like that they had a Jumping castle for the kids entertainment. The room lighting wasn't that bright, way too Dim. Cutlery in the room would have been a great addition as well as extra blankets readily available. Pool area was kept clean at all times. A great stay overall at this delightful hotel.

Perfect place for a staycation or getaway without needing to leave the city - but definitely feels like you're out of the city! Very quiet and pretty surroundings. Quaint rooms and public areas, and the historical pictures and information around the hotel and in the rooms is a lovely touch. Everything is clean and well maintained and the staff are really friendly and helpful in all areas.

Enjoyed Jazz on the lawn and stayed in a loft... Loved it, spacious, clean. I think you should check the milk in the little containers, that was the only issue. Breakfast was Lovely Thanks .... I Definitely will go back

A hidden gem & a refuge. A charming step back in history, brass chandeliers, hardwood ceilings, top notch friendly staff & old world service. Great breakfast, all the options & choices, fresh fruit, pastry & cooked options. A glimpse into the world of early European settlers.

Well run hotel, nicely located, guests given attention when needed. Older biggish rooms for those like a comfortable stay. Regular there.

Friendly and helpful staff with good communication upfront trough e-mail. I can recommend when you are looking for a place after arriving on the airport. Just 15 min drive. Great for a short stay with toddler and they had gluten free options at breakfast.

Good property though a bit out of the way! Spacious rooms but I strongly recommend installing mixers in the wash basins!!

Great Location. Country feel in the middle of the city. Rooms are large and comfortable. Friendly staff with special mention to the restaurant staff, Nosipho and Pamela who assisted with our special requirements.

All round very nice hotel, I highly recommend it. The service is out of this world, very professional and friendly staff, from the front desk, to the kitchen and dining staff, to the maintenance and grounds grooming gentlemen. My wife and I absolutely loved our stay there... it's our second when we are next in Cape Town

The hotel is located in a very nice location and overall a fair good for a business overnight stay. The phone in room 133 was not working and I had to call reception to get instructions to be able to use the wifi. The shower barely had any hot water, just a thin stream coming out.

Right at the centre of the Cape Town metropolis but surrounded by parks to give you some distance from city noise. Very close to the N1, N2, and N7 highways. Beautiful lounge decorated with vintage furniture. The rooms are, however, very modern and comfortable.

From all the Protea Hotels in Cape Town, my favorite if you looking for a setting nice, quite away from noise. Rooms is perfect like being at home with all the nice to have. Service friendly at all times. Thanks for making my stay a wow for the second time.

Sheers in the room was torned. Bathroom shower is not great small and sloping. Breakfast staff was great. And served us very well. One trainee staff was rude and dose not fit for marriott standards. Other wise all good.

We had an amazing stay at an affordable price. The host David and the hotel manager went all out to create a beautiful setup for my husband’s birthday. The breakfast 🤤🤤🤤 this hotel really exceeded my expectations and the whole staff is super friendly and helpful. Well it’s not one of the best looking hotels, especially the bathrooms but the service (and cleanliness) is out of this world.

Friendly staff. Food is fresh and delicious. Beautiful culture displayed with the random art pieces all over the hotel. Room clean attention to detail.

Building looks ugly from outside. But when you get inside you will forget everything about outside. Rooms are very beautiful , workers are very friendly and food is very nice and perfect. I will definitely go there again.

A sanctuary amidst the bustle of Cape Town. It’s location is 15 mins away from the city-centre but if you’re like me who’s not fussed about that, this is the perfect place! If you’re driving, it’s even more perfect as it’s just by Liesbeek Parkway. The staff are friendly, the environment pristine & amenities sufficient. The price is also very affordable! The only feedback I have is for their laundry service; it is outsourced yes, but doesn’t excuse them losing a piece of my clothing (albeit it being reimbursed). All in all, a wonderful stay here in Cape Town.

Dinner times were always great thanks to bra Sipho and Sis Gcobisa! They made us feel at home and I have left with them in my heart. Will certainly come back!

Very central and well positioned near the N2 for access to airport and CBD. The furniture is absolutely exquisite and the hotel steeped in history. The great thing about the hotel is that within walking distance is a great bar and restuarant. Well priced and highly recommended discreet and exceptional service.

Excellent service! Friendly staff. I don't know why this is only a 3 star hotel as I believe it deserves 5 stars! Wonderful delicious breakfast. Thanks. Will definitely come and stay with you again.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE WITH CARING STAFF The caring, friendly and attentive demeanour of the restaurant staff was the first of the two most outstanding aspects of our experience at the restaurant. From Pam's warm welcome and kindness to the kind and attentive services of Ashley, Royston, Amanda, Gail, Christian and others. l salute you for the warmth and kindness that you bestowed on us, which beat the variety of very delicious food to the second most outstanding experience, although the food was very enjoyable. WELL DONE! Really, really outstanding and memorable!

6 years in operation and you would never guess it was even here. Hidden away. This hotel is a very pleasant suprise. The loft apartments are amazing. Reception wasn't great. The staff members especially one was very unhappy or unpleasant not sure which one. Def worth exploring!!!!

This place is sent in a comfortable, scenic area. It is quiet and serene. The suite had all needed amenities. It was certainly a home away from home. It is close to the historic Lisbeeck River. I most certainly will visit again.

A lovely hotel in a quiet area, with some nice garden spaces, a good pool, and a restaurant right next door. The rooms are a great size, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a highlight!

It's a little sanctuary in the middle of Cape Town highways. Surprisingly quiet for its location. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Beautiful central courtyard with well maintained garden, swimming pool and even hidden gems such as a fountain. Authentic and good atmosphere dining area. Note they only serve breakfast though it is plenty with good enough selection. Service is friendly and attentive. Housekeeping is regular however vacuuming the rooms should be done way more often especially noticeable if one stays longer than a night or two. Safe parking, acceptable internet (albeit on the slow side). Very good value for money. A three star hotel that makes you feel like a four star. Recommended.
