Worth the hike to the πŸ” top of Lion’s Head in Capetown South Africa! Table Mountain is frequently covered in fog, and the poor visibility or wind πŸ’¨ causes the cable car to not operate under these conditions. Lions Head also has unbelievable paragliding launch points over terrain that is so beautiful, it’s difficult to articulate. Take a 360 degree picture πŸ“· from the top. πŸ‘†πŸ” Ironically the best views are of Table Mountain, not FROM Table Mountain. Lions Head 🦁 is also an amazing hike, and should is a bucket list experience that is now checked off the list!! πŸ” β›°πŸ₯ΎπŸƒπŸŒ‹πŸ—»πŸš΅β€β™€οΈπŸŒ„

An amazing experience for an urban person. Not that difficult as table mountain hike. Expect so spend at least 2hrs on the way up and 1 hr back. Can be very windy so better take a wind coat. Views are unrealistically magnificent

It's a very though hike if you are not fit. It's quite short, but very sleep. It can take you around 1h30mins to complete. The views are worth it at the end. Climbing the head is the hardest because it's more like rock climbing.

If you run marathons, this is an easy hike. For all other humans, it can get streneous. As you get closer to the top it is really tough with your knees taking the brunt of the large rocks. You will also climb four very steep ladders, right against the cliff's face which can feel scary. The hike is full of spectacular 360 degree views of Cape Town. Table mountain looms in most views, you'll see Para gliders jumping off both mountains framing your pictures. In July when we are visiting, the mountainside is covered in yellow flowers. We had a bit of rain, and we're treated to double rainbows pretty much the whole time.

Most Popular hiking trail in Cape Town. Moderate intensity with rocky paths, some steeper areas and the option of using the chains and ladders as you get closer to the top. Mostly unshaded, so be prepared with sunblock, sun hats, shades and lots of water. Easy to complete within 2 hours of time up and back down. Gets busy over weekends so start early to avoid the crowds. Once you get to the top, you’re able to admire picturesque views of camps bay beach, sea point, table mountain and signal hill.

It took us 40 min to get to the top. Best time of the day is before sunrise. Seeing the sunrise on top of Lions Head is just magical!

What a lovely trail to walk! It’s not too tough, but I think sturdy walking boots are essential especially for coming down the mountain as the rocks are quite sharp. I noticed a few people with walking poles, and this seemed like a sensible idea for walking down also. We’re quite a fit family but in the heat, the incline feels quite tough in the first 10 mins or so. I saw some runners and dog walkers too, and there are a few benches dotted along the path. We had a little picnic, which was lovely ❀️ of course we took our rubbish home with us. Next time I go, I’m going to take a plastic bag to collect any litter as there are no bins on the trail, and tourists can be *quite* annoying leaving their rubbish. I had to tell off a group of tourists from the Netherlands (about 8 guys around 20 in Ajax shirts) who left their plastic bottle on the trail πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ˜£ TOP TIP: take at least 1 litre of water for each person

An amazing experience! Beautiful views. Friendly people and it's free. There is even a Vida e Cafe van at the start/end point. I would recommend going early morning as it does get hot and it is quite busy and waiting in the shade or cooler air is better than waiting in the scorching sun. You have to park quite far away but I believe it's worth it. Moderate fitness is required as it is a demanding hike. But I'll say once again, absolutely worth it! Many many places to take beautiful photos.

A relatively easy hike with a ton of spots to stop and snap some stunning photos. Easy parking and a little food truck Cafe at the starting point to get your caffeine fix or replenish your electrolytes afterwards with their cold sports drinks. Parking is free and has a great view over looking the city.

Wonderful hike but it was overcast so we did not get to see the entire view. We will be back to do it again and hopefully the clouds won't obstruct our view 😊 The final few minutes of the climb can be challenging so be prepared but not afraid as it is manageable for most people

We had a great time hiking on the Lion's Head, the trail is moderately challenging: walking up the hill, climbing rocks and ladders, moving on a narrow path with a cliff on the side holding to a chain along the mountain. It's both interesting and exciting. Although this trail might seem intimidating for less fit people, like myself, don't get discouraged as at the peak there was a crowd of all ages and shapes, one person even brought a mid-sized dog (he carried it on his shoulder up and down the ladders). Great experience, stunning views and tons of photographs along with meeting new people is granted on this trail. Highly recommend πŸ‘

What an amazing hike up the mountain, it's got tough but doable terrain, even kids under 12 years were climbing. Old people over the age of 60. It is for everyone and is an amazing experience. Be prepared for a thrilling experience of a lifetime

Great hike, very popular and relatively easy to do. Signs say β€˜use the chains and ladders at your own risk’, we found these to be not particularly dangerous or difficult compared to other hikes. The panoramic views at the summit are breathtaking. Best to arrive in good time before sunset so as to leave immediately after sunset, to avoid long queues on the way down with many people still making their way to the summit after sunset.

in germany this would be more of a climb than a hike, but it was an absolute pleasure to finish the trail. Highly recommend to do a SUNRISE hike with a guide. We started at 5 and were back down at 8.

We went for sunset, it was beautiful! It safe, there is a lot of people hiking during that time. There is also vida e cafe movable car for refreshments, best coffee β˜•. You don't need to be a hiking person or be fit for lion's head.

Every time I go up lion's head it's different and exhillerating... Views from top are 360 degree. There is a bit of a littering problem and good to take a carrier bag with you and spare jacket.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ I love running from Newlands to the blockhouse. Once you're up there it gives you a beautiful view and if you run further you're able to go to the Woodstock Cave and further you'd find tafelberg road where you can exit onto from the mountain .
