This is a really lovely park but the prices depicted on the internet is incorrect. It's actually more than indicated. However, as they only take cash we had to struggle to find a bank to draw money. Not really the best experience... But the park itself is beautiful. Braai areas and trails to go hike.

This is a wonderful picnic area for family and friends to visit. There are tables and stools, but please remember that no open flames allowed during summer. You are welcome to take a gas braai. There is plenty of shaded areas. Public toilets are available. Entrance is R38 per adult or use your Wild card.

Beautiful place. There is no card facility and you need to pay to park your car and each person entering is required to pay. Carry cash! Facilities are clean and awesome for kids. ❤

We spent the day at the picnic and braai area. Gets full and limited braai areas available. Get there early. Entry is R31.00 per adult children under 11 is free and the vehicle cost is R28.00. Opens at 8am and closes at 18:00pm. Toilets and general area is well kept and very clean. Public respect the space and dont play music loudly or get rowdy. Great for hiking,walking, Normal picnicking and site seeing and general family days. Don't walk alone. Suggest a group of 3 Adults minimum.

quite a nice place for all ages, young and old. There is a lot of space for setting up picnics, parties and really anything that you would like. The scenery is very beautiful, luchious and overall quite pleasentaly humid, yet still has a gentle breeze that so discreetly brushes on your face. Yet without that breeze it would be very unpleasant. The children will enjoy running around the green fields, running through the small but wet streams and playing with rocks and weeds. The older people will enjoy just relaxing, looking out at the luchious green pastures and just contemplating on life while hearing the faint sound of children at play

Weather was gorgeous, and the braai areas were good. Nice green grass for the kids to play or for having a picnic. Unfortunately the ablution facilities were awful. Toilets had no flushing water, so they were clogged with toilet paper, which was absolutely disgusting. No toilet paper (bring your own) and no soap in the dispensers at the sinks either.

Nestled among giant pine trees along M3 route. This place boasts with top quality surroundings and facilities for outdoor activities. Positive energy all the way, peaceful, tranquil and relaxing.

Beautiful surroundings, kids can be kids and facilities are nice and clean. Only issue was people playing loud music and no authorities coming around to tell them to turn it down, or to be considerate of others coming to enjoy a nice quiet picnic spot.

You pay at the entrance, i was lucky to get parking and we got a great spot . It was a beautiful sunny day and nice to be out and have a picnic,it was beautiful🤗❤

Superb braai area with just R38 entrance free. Plenty space with seating and open braais. Just a shame that you can't access the UCT dam anymore.

Wow. This is such an awesome place to have a family picnic, braai or get together. The air is so clean and being amongst the trees and mountainside makes for an awesome tranquil venue. We had a wonderful time there yesterday celebrating my parents 57th anniversary and the facilities was clean and lovely. We only paid R38 person to enter and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Newlands Forest in the picnic area was beautiful. The fire places were plenty with lots of round concrete tables and chairs. Lots of bins and a very spacious clean toilet. Very peaceful and well maintained. If you looking for serenity this is one of the many places in Cape Town.

Good place to braai with family and friends. Toilets are generally clean. One can take a short hike to the dam too.

They are closed! we went there on the 7th of October 2023 (07/10/23) and the gate to the picnic area was closed. I am not sure if you can walk to the picnic area from the forest hiking area *which was open on that day*. they didn't say anything about this on their website of Facebook. maybe I overlooked it ? regards

We were asked for IDs at the gate and was asked to pay double the amount because i am not a South African.

Excellent braai area. Enough spots to allow social distancing. Rangers constantly patrolling and ensuring everyone is following/adhering to the park rules. Only downer is that it closes at 4pm

Difficult to find at first and a slot smaller than expected but still a decent place to chill on a weekend, especially great for weekend braais for the kids

The place itself was beautiful; however, concerns are that what is said on google does not match up. Entry fee and time of closing. It's says gates close at 6pm; however, people were told the gates closed at 4pm.

Looking for a place to relax and have a braai (BBQ for foreigners)? You must make a stop here. You will find braai areas under trees in various locations. There are seats around the braai area as well as a table. There are ablution facilities available. The sites are well maintained and tidy. Definately worth a visit. #braai #letsguide #newlandsforest

Awesome place. We got there early and set up. It was empty the day we went with maybe 4 other families. We set up in a dud braai spot (falling apart) but we're too lazy to move (so that was on us). They have picnic tables and stools and bins. Toilets were clean. R32 per adult and R28 for the car as of Jan 2020. Just a note, the flies are pretty rude at this site. Get one of those netting doilies for your food and you should be good. 8 out of 10. Would visit again.

Everything was so clean! Amazing day in nature. Make sure you being along good friends, sunscreen and amazing energy. Those worried about rest rooms? Don't, spotless.

This is my second time here at Newlands picnic site....what a safe environment never over crowded it's safe for the kids and we as adults enjoy it too.i must add that the toilets r very clean and there's always toilet paper

If you ever need to relax and chill, "chillax", Newlands picnic site is your best location. Not only does the rangers patrol the area constantly but they very friendly and helpful. The space is just amazing for team buildings, family outings or just spending some time before a rugby match on Newlands Stadium.
