Probably the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Reception was so bad we nearly walked out. No parking despite being assured beforehand that there was parking. Concierge howling rudely from the front door when we tried to park in a space on the street, apparently it was supposed to be kept for deliveries (no signage to that effect anywhere). The restaurant service was atrocious, 1 waiter and 45 minute wait before getting an order taken in a restaurant that wasn't full at all. Staff were very rough and nevermind. Room was the smallest space I've ever had to pay for, way to cramped. Never again. The pictures they have on their site are very very deceiving!

Amazing Rooftop. We were on the 8th floor so had a great balcony. And amazing view from the top. Very small rooms though which we can expect as this is heart of Cape Town. Food was not much to our liking. We had breakfast twice here and can definitely say the first meal is not good enough.

Had free parking just across the street but I understand availability is limited. Staff were friendly and efficient on check-in, check-out, bar service. Entrance/breakfast area/ lounge very neat and modern. Room and bathroom very modern and comfortable (with the original wooden block floors adding a touch of “retro”). Great shower and bed, very quiet new aircon, bedside wallplugs with usb outlets. Centrally located for Cape Town, right next to Parliament. The street area feels dirty and run-down, although it is only one block from Adderley St and two blocks from St Georges Mall! The rooftop bar has great views of Table Mountain. It can do with an upgrade of furniture and fittings. Did not have breakfast so can’t comment. Ramenhead restaurant next door was an excellent meal. (Could not get into Fyn - “bucket list”). Overall the price vs quality of room/bed/bathroom and central location makes this excellent value for money. I’ll be back!

Usually I have a great experience bit this time round i felt undermined and treated differently because I was a local. The staff treated the foreigners with more respect and friendliness than me and my friend. We weren't greeted with a smile just a demand for our ids. Every time we needed something from the secretary or security we were asked for our room key as if suspected to not belong in the hotel. I think this behaviour is really uncalled for and really unprofessional we paid the same price as the foreigners we deserve the same about of respect .

Average service, breakfast time incorrectly communicated. Rooms are rather dated, with carpets. Towels not good quality. Room rather cramped. Demanded payment prior arrival. Not very friendly front desk. Dining area upmarket. Lifts are noisy. Wheel chair friendly. Happy hour daily 4-6pm. Free Wifi

Our stay this past Easter weekend was not good at all. Upon arrival we were told that they dont actually have the booking for our rooms, (which were made 6 weeks prior to the weekend and paid for in full!) and they will 'Upgrade' us to another hotel, after doing research we found out the other hotel was half the price so we waited over an hour for them to sort out our rooms in The Cape Diamond Hotel. Next problem was the size of the rooms..dont let the pictures on Google fool you as they are definitely not like the pictures. They are so small you literally get out of bed and into the toilet at the same time. The staff were extremely unprofessional. And wouldn't communicate to us all the problems. The parking was a complete nightmare and not one staff member besides the bar manager would assist us. Easter Sunday was complete chaos in the resturant. Most of the staff were drinking and making a complete noise. Was very unpleasant. Then the next problem was upon checking out we then get told we have to pay for parking per day. Which no one informed us of when we arrived. I would Not recommend this hotel to anyone! There is alot of things that need to be improved!

BIG IMPROVEMENT from the previous reviews I read! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My room and bedding was clean and I had a lovely balcony overlooking the city. The location is superb if you want to see the city, explore, get good food and experience the central buzz of the city life. Continental breakfast was good with pastries, fresh fruit, expensive cheeses and meats and more.

Very disappointed in Cape Diamond hotel. I stayed as a long term guest and it was atrocious. The door to the bathroom was faulty and when we complained about it nothing was done same applies to the toilet that stoped working and the tap that leaked under the sink. Entering the hotel was always complicated as there was so security and hardly anyone at reception. There were multiple reported incidents of non hotel guests entering and stealing as well as one of the other guests being assaulted. The owner then told us we would have to leave to make room for other guest and when we queried this he entered our room with a spare key while we were asleep. I was lucky enough to take videos and proof of the incident. There is a terrible infestation of roaches all over. And during my long term stay two people committed suicide. There is no parking, and no air conditioning. I would definitely not recommend.

There are so many ROACHES!!! Everyone literally complains about it all the time and nothing is ever done about it. Everything about the building is rough. The bathrooms, the kitchens make me want to vomit, there's no parking, there's no assistance, there's just nothing. You pay for a tiny overpriced room and get a TV that barely works with unstable wifi and your only neighbors are the hundreds of roaches that live in the ceiling boards of the filthy place. Gross, gross, GROSS. Never again. I do not recommend.

Overall really great experience here. Staff were super welcoming and always ready to go an extra mile to help out. Perfectly placed in my opinion, very nice and central.

The staff are great, however the owner shouted and humiliated his staff in a close area that guests, like me, could hear everything. He clearly has know understanding of how to deal or manage people. Don't know how he could run a hotel.

The food was awesome. I personally like the Orange juice. The rooms were ideal for two people. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The WiFi service was also good. The staff was polite. The only thing is that they sometimes find it difficult to understand what you said because if difference in accent. Just keep calm and talk slowly if you think that they are not understanding what you said. Just enjoy your stay.

The rooms are ok. Wifi is good. There is a lot of attention required to raise the standard... TV, plugs , cabling , toilet sliding doors , bathroom taps, small items that require attention. Receiption is friendly. Worth 3 star!

Roaches all over the place. Easily counted over 20. Had to sleep outside the room as it crawled onto the bed. Not just one room, in another room on a different floor too, and in the tenant kitchen. Missed work due to not having anywhere to sleep and also got severely depressed. Do not come here.

I enjoyed my stay here at Cape Diamond Hotel. This is not an upmarket place but has nice, affordable rooms. Their breakfast was amazing, there is a full 2 hours to come down and have your own breakfast at the lobby. I think this place is most appropriate for you if you're looking for a affordable, great place to just stay in while on business or local tourism. It's in the middle of the CBD, so there aren't much views to see.

Sad to do this review. Shocking! Photos very deceiving. We arrived late and the manager we saw on check in was the only positive thing about our stay. Rooms tiny, bathroom or rather 'closet with toilet and shower' tiny. . Stenge of old paint was horrible. Air cons not working, towels and bedding new but cheap and not washed. Breakfast? What breakfast? Please look up a Continental breakfast. Its not 4 old crackers, 4 pieces of ham and old bread with cheap juice and that for 6 people. Sorry guys, but you should rather rename as back packer accommodation as this is some serious false advertising to say the least. I definately wont be back....😓

Decided to stay here, as it was close to everything I wanted to visit / see. Room was clean & tidy. Staff very helpful & friendly. Buffet breakfast more than adequate. Had dinner twice, both dishes highly recommended - pasta Alfredo and the steak.

With regards to the below i would like to thank Lize from guest relations who promptly responded to my query and provided me with great assistance! Thank you so much! i booked a room on the site for 1 adult and 2 kids and nowhere on the site does it say that this is not allowed. They allow the booking to go through and then mail you and ask you to cancel yet they still charge the full amount of the room? Does that even make sense?

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. The room itself was spacious and tastefully decorated, with modern furnishings that add a touch of sophistication. The large windows light up the room and the bathroom has been revamped with quality fittings. The rooftop bar has a spectacular view of Table Mountain, and the service was excellent.

Exceptional service! Walked in the hotel and it immediately felt like home from the front to our room. Had the pleasures to meet Shakira - what a ball of fresh energy she is! Thank you, will definitely be returning here soon x
